Ipswich's previous recruitment model can be traced back to their four seasons in League One.
After guiding Town back to the Championship in 2023, Kieran McKenna admitted the club had made a "conscious decision" not to target overseas players because of the fast and frantic nature of England's third tier.
A largely unchanged – but tightly knit – squad then exceeded expectations by finishing second in the Championship in 2023-24, making Ipswich the first side in 12 years to reach the Premier League through back-to-back promotions.
At that point, the Blues' hierarchy could have ripped up the modus operandi that had served them so well and pivoted towards more extensive overseas recruitment. Instead, they doubled down on the approach, focusing mainly on emerging domestic talent largely unproven beyond the Championship.
A £100m summer spending spree brought Omari Hutchinson, Jack Clarke, Liam Delap, Dara O'Shea and Jacob Greaves to Portman Road – players who had primarily shone in the second tier but were identified as having the potential to develop into established Premier League performers.

Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott have reportedly welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, after largely keeping their relationship out of the spotlight.
TMZ reported that sources with direct knowledge said Plaza gave birth during the final week of July. Neither Plaza nor Abbott has publicly announced their daughter's name or exact birth date.
The 42-year-old actress was photographed carrying the newborn in New York City on August 9 after supporting Abbott at the final Broadway performance of Death of a Salesman.
The reported arrival came several months after Plaza's representative confirmed in April that she and Abbott were expecting their first child. At the time, a source told People that the baby was expected in the fall.
Plaza was photographed outside in New York with the baby bundled in a blanket and wearing a beanie. TMZ reported that the sighting came after Plaza attended Abbott's final performance in the Broadway revival of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman.

Back in 2016, many expected that then-Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater would never play in another NFL game. Fast forward to 2026, and Bridgewater is retiring (for a second time) after 11 NFL seasons.
Bridgewater suffered a devastating knee injury during practice with the Vikings in 2016. At the time, he had emerged as Vikings' franchise quarterback, but the injury changed the trajectory of his entire career.
After bouncing around the league largely as a backup, Bridgewater returned to Detroit this offseason to be Jared Goff's backup. On Sunday, though, Lions head coach Dan Campbell told reporters that Bridgewater had decided to retire.
On Monday, Bridgewater took to Instagram to explain the decision.

Eli Lilly (NYSE:LLY) delivered a quarter that forced Wall Street to catch up to its own numbers. On August 5, the company reported second-quarter revenue of $23.0 billion, up 48% from a year earlier, and used the momentum to raise its full-year sales and profit targets. Shares moved higher the same day as investors focused on how fast the obesity franchise is still expanding.
The headline number came from Mounjaro and Zepbound. Mounjaro revenue jumped 91% to $9.9 billion, while Zepbound climbed 46% to $4.9 billion, and together they anchored a quarter where US sales rose 33% to $14.4 billion, and international sales rose 80% to $8.6 billion. Growth was not confined to the diabetes and obesity lineup either. Lilly's immunology, oncology, and neuroscience products grew a combined 121%, showing the newer parts of the portfolio are starting to contribute in a real way.
Management responded by lifting full-year revenue guidance to a range of $85 billion to $87 billion, up from $82 billion to $85 billion previously. Lilly is also plowing the cash back into its pipeline, closing acquisitions of Orna Therapeutics, Ajax Therapeutics, Centessa Pharmaceuticals, and Kelonia Therapeutics during the quarter, agreeing to buy AtaiBeckley afterward, and committing another $4.5 billion to expand manufacturing in Indiana. On the drug development side, three more Phase 3 trials of the experimental triple agonist retatrutide read out positively, giving Lilly a complete data package to support a planned obesity application submission in the first quarter of 2027.
The same quarter that produced 48% revenue growth also showed what that growth is costing. Realized prices fell 13% company-wide, with international pricing down 36% largely tied to Mounjaro's addition to China's national reimbursement drug list, a trade-off Lilly is making for volume and market access. The acquisition spree carried a real accounting price tag too. Acquired R&D charges hit $2.8 billion in the quarter, versus just $154 million a year earlier, which is why reported EPS grew only 26% even as the non-GAAP figure grew 33%.
Asset impairment and restructuring charges of $703 million, largely tied to the Kelonia and Centessa deals, added further drag, and the effective tax rate climbed to 23.3% from 16.5% because of the non-deductible nature of those charges. R&D spending rose 14% to $3.8 billion, and marketing and administrative costs rose 25% to $3.4 billion, a reminder that funding a pipeline this active and prepping for a wave of new launches is not cheap. None of this changes the underlying growth story, but it does mean the path from strong sales to clean reported profit is getting ****** pier as the deal-making continues.

Federal tax law gives laid-off workers with 401(k) loans until their tax return due date to roll over the offset amount, and that deadline could be as late as October.
Workers must fund the rollover with outside money like severance or savings, since the original loan proceeds were spent years earlier.
The extended deadline only applies to offsets from job separation, not missed-payment 'deemed distributions,' which are taxable and cannot be rolled over.
Are you ahead, or behind on retirement? SmartAsset's free tool can match you with a financial advisor in minutes to help you answer that today. Each advisor has been carefully vetted, and must act in your best interests. Don't waste another minute; learn more here.
A worker in her late 50s gets the layoff call and remembers the outstanding 401(k) loan she took two years ago. Somewhere in her memory sits a warning: repay it within 60 days or the IRS treats the balance as a taxable distribution, plus a possible 10% penalty. She is 58, so the penalty exposure feels real. The panic is understandable. It is also largely based on an outdated version of the rule.

Interested in Louisiana-Pacific Corporation? Here are five stocks we like better.
Second-quarter results weakened: Sales fell $90 million year over year to $664 million and EBITDA dropped $63 million to $79 million, primarily because of lower OSB prices and volumes. LP expects OSB EBITDA of approximately negative $45 million in Q3 and negative $120 million for 2026 if prices remain flat.
Siding showed resilience and is expected to rebound: Despite a 4% sales decline and weather, freight and inflation disruptions, the segment maintained a 26% EBITDA margin. LP forecasts Q3 Siding revenue of $460 million–$470 million and EBITDA of $110 million–$120 million, with modest volume growth anticipated.
LP is prioritizing Siding investment while reducing spending elsewhere: The company cut its 2026 capital-expenditure outlook by $70 million to about $320 million, largely by delaying OSB maintenance projects, while directing roughly three-quarters of spending toward Siding capacity expansions.

Not sure if we have a guest recap today. I didn't hear back from the scheduled recapper, and didn't see them in the GDT either. So just in case, I'm going to throw up a quick one for now: if a proper recap shows up, this one can quietly wander off into the sunset. I think it's definitely worth marking the fact that today was the first time since 2018 that the D-backs have won the season series over the Dodgers. Now, it's still highly likely to be nothing more than a moral triumph. Los Angeles are still 7.5 games ahead of Arizona, so there's unlikely to be any need for any tie-breaker. But it still indicates this team is certainly playing them tougher than some previous years.
And few players deserve that "tougher" label than Eduardo Rodriguez, who threw 115 pitches over seven innings of two-run ball. It was certainly needed, on a day where the team effectively had four relievers off the board. That was a full ten pitches more than any Arizona starter this year. The last time any D-back threw more was more than nine years ago, Robbie Ray tossing 122 on June 30, 2017. [Of course, Randy Johnson passed that number on an almost everyday basis: twenty-one times in both 1999 and 2001] E-Rod scattered five hits and two walks, with nine strikeouts and improved his record for the year to 11-4.
View Link
The offense jumped out on Justin Wrobleski early, putting up a crooked number in both the first and second innings. After a Geraldo Perdomo walk to start the game for the D-backs, Ketel Marte cranked his twentieth home-run of the year into the left-field bleachers, for a quick 2-0 lead. In the second frame, a Ryan Waldschmidt bunt [let's take the arguments as read, shall we?] caused an error which brought home a run, and a Corbin Carroll double gave Arizona a 4-0 advantage. The offense largely shut up shop thereafter. They went 0-for-14 against the Los Angeles bullpen, and were 0-for-7 with RISP. But it was definitely a case of "good enough."
The Dodgers pulled runs back in the third and sixth, but a Freddie Freeman double-play in the eighth, when he represented the tying run, was the end of their real threat. Kevin Ginkel, much-maligned in some quarters, came in for the ninth, notched a 1-2-3 inning with two K's for his first save of the year, reducing his season ERA to 3.60 – pretty respectable, I'd say. There should be some relief (literally) arriving for the team, with the news the D-backs have signed Zack Littell, the former Nats pitcher, likely to act as a long-man in the bullpen. They just have to pay the prorated MLB minimum, Washington covering the rest.

Warriors star named one of most overpaid players at his position originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Well, this isn't necessarily a list that Golden State Warriors star forward Jimmy Butler wanted to be on.
Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report recently named Butler as one of the most overpaid forwards in the entire NBA, largely due to the fact that he'll be sidelined for a large chunk of the upcoming 2026-27 season due to a knee injury.
Butler will make over $58 million for the upcoming campaign, but will likely be available for fewer than half the games. The star forward is set for unrestricted free agency next summer.
"This is mostly a technicality, as Butler underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL on Feb. 9, 2026 and therefore figures to miss half of the upcoming season. Considering he'll be 37 before the campaign even starts, it's hard to imagine that shelf-time estimate is on the low end, and it's also tough to envision him sustaining the level of play he showed last year," Hughes wrote.

The NFL officially enshrined its 2026 class in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday. It was a loaded class that is headlined by former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who are both going in as first-ballot selections.
Any time the Hall of Fame is discussed, fans of the Denver Broncos within Broncos Country have a rich history of players to discuss for possible enshrinement. Having already seen the likes of John Elway, Terrell Davis, Shannon Sharpe and Steve Atwater receive busts in Canton, Broncos fans are hungry for more.
Fortunately for them, there are still several former greats who helped shape the success the organization has had who could gain entry one day. We rank them in descending order here.
Dennis Smith is rarely talked about in terms of inclusion into the Hall of Fame, but he should be. Sadly, having ended his career over 30 years ago, he's becoming largely forgotten.
Smith had over 1,100 career tackles to go along with 30 interceptions and was one of the best safeties of his era. A first-round pick of the Broncos in 1981, Smith made the Pro Bowl six times and was selected as a first-team All-Pro in 1984 and again in 1986. He spent his entire 14-year career in the Mile High City and was known as one of the hardest hitters in the game.

The Boston Red Sox almost did it again.
Two nights after rallying from behind five times to defeat the Chicago White Sox in 13 innings, Boston was down by four runs to the Athletics going into the bottom of the ninth with their nine-game winning streak at stake.
Facing A's closer Hogan Harris, Jahmai Jones hit a one-out double. But Harris then struck out Ceddanne Rafaela, getting him to chase a fastball that darted inside way out of the strike zone. Caleb Durbin kept the inning alive for the Red Sox, hitting a middle-middle slider for a single to drive in Jones.
Was it happening again?
Willson Contreras followed up with a single as Harris again left a pitch in the middle of the zone. Perhaps trying to overcompensate, the A's closer then stayed largely out of the zone but walked Andruw Monasterio as a result.

LSU football linebackers Princewill Unanmielen and Whit Weeks were named to the preseason watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy. The annual award is presented to the best defensive player in the NCAA. Glenn Dorsey won the award in 2007 and he is the only LSU player to do so.
Umanmielen and Weeks are two of the most explosive and experienced defenders in the country. Both could've made the jump to the NFL after last season but decided to play for Lane Kiffin in his first season leading the Tigers.
Weeks broke his ankle during the Week 5 game against Ole Miss last year. The linebacker was in and out of the lineup for the rest of the season but largely shut things down in Week 8, a disappointing second act after breaking out as a sophomore in 2024. He totaled 125 tackles, including 10 for loss, and 3.5 sacks that year.
Umanmielen transferred to Ole Miss ahead of 2025 after two seasons at Nebraska. The defensive end posted 44 tackles, including 13 for loss, and nine sacks in his lone season with the Rebels. He's a shoo-in for a starting role with the Tigers in his second season under Kiffin.

Regional banks are getting a boost as the AI gold rush spills out beyond Wall Street.
Activity among manufacturers, equipment suppliers, and other large and midsize firms that borrow from regional banks is heating up. That's adding to investor hopes that regional lenders with sizable commercial banking arms have another growth stream, even if they are largely sitting out of the data center financing boom.
The State Street SPDR S&P Regional Banking ETF (KRE) traded near a record high earlier this week. Since the start of the year, it has climbed 17%, outperforming major stock indexes.
Demand for commercial and industrial loans strengthened in the second quarter. A net 16.1% of banks reported higher demand from large and midsize companies, up from 4.8% in the previous quarter, according to the Federal Reserve's senior loan officer survey.
Bank loan officers said increased investment in plants and equipment and greater financing needs for inventories were among the reasons companies were borrowing more.

Interest in Prince William's then-girlfriend, now the Princess of Wales (nee Kate Middleton), skyrocketed after the pair graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2005.
The pair had met while studying history of art and staying at St Salvator's Hall at the Scottish uni, but under the 'Gentleman's Agreement', the press had largely left them to enjoy their budding romance privately. In 2006, Kate, then 24, was a supportive girlfriend as she watched William compete in the Chakravarty Cup charity polo match at Ham Polo Club in Richmond.
Not only did her attendance draw focus, but so did the fact that she made it a family affair, asking her sister Pippa, then 22, to be her plus one for the sunny day out.
The siblings were spotted relaxing in deck chairs, with Pippa effortlessly dressing for the warm weather in a turquoise sundress. The fitted drop-waist accentuated her toned physique, while the spaghetti straps and swishy skirt ensured she remained cool.

George Clooney had a rather unexpected guest arrive at his famous Lake Como villa. Now the internet is trying to figure out the connection.
Emma Watson was photographed (shared by deuxmoi on Instagram) arriving at George and Amal Clooney's Italian home on Saturday, August 8. In the photos, the Harry Potter alum wore a light-colored floral dress with dramatic puff sleeves as she made her way toward the property, running her fingers through her hair and carrying a brown bag.
The sighting quickly caught fans' attention, largely because Watson and the Clooneys aren't exactly a celebrity friendship people would expect.
"My theory is that the Clooney's have paid her to babysit and tutor their kids as Hermione Granger," one person on Reddit joked.
"Are they making a movie together maybe?" someone on Instagram suggested.

The Strait of Hormuz is, by some accounts, named for a Zoroastrian deity destined to emerge victorious after a 9,000-year standoff with an adversary.
Iran's leaders feel their own victory is at hand and won't require the same epic patience.
They are betting that military pressure will ultimately force the United States to accept their control over the crucial waterway for global energy — and that time is on their side.
They know about the diminishing stockpiles of key U.S. weapons such as advanced missile interceptors. They know the war is deeply unpopular with Americans. They know that as long as the strait is largely closed, the price of gas and other goods will stay high ahead of U.S. congressional elections in November. They know that trying to open it by force would be costly and may require American ground troops. They know their Houthi allies in Yemen could widen the war and disrupt another major trade route.
By that logic, U.S. President Donald Trump has no choice but to capitulate.

PFL Charlotte sent fans home sleepy on Friday night.
Making his sophomore appearance in the promotion, Charlotte's own Bryan Battle entered the cage to take on Dalton Rosta. The middleweight main event ended somewhat controversially, as the hometown middleweight Battle (13-3, 1 NC) came out the victor via a lackluster split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).
Rosta (11-4) started the early goings of the bout with some strong leg kicks early, chopping at Battle's upright stance. That appeared to be a great recipe for success until it was entirely abandoned for a big Rosta body-lock takedown. Control didn't last for Rosta, as Battle defended well, pushing down Rosta's hands as he stood and walked around the cage wall. That was effectively where the rest of the round was spent until the 30-second mark. Some strikes were attempted between the two, leading to a failed late Battle double leg.
The second frame saw Battle get more aggressive, seeking long punches until Rosta worked his legs with kicks again. Those shots forced Battle to switch stance, and allowed Rosta to pursue another takedown. The remainder of the round was largely "highlighted" with more wall control exchanges and minimal strikes interjected.
Round 3 saw Battle tied up within the first minute to land some elbows and punches against the cage. Rosta started to land some punches at range once separated, and it was right back to failed takedown attempts and cage control in arguably the most forgettable fight of the year.

It might be possible that second half Austin RileyTM has arrived. Maybe we should ask Fernando Cruz.
It might be possible. The man was left for dead in the first half, only sporting a .207/.288/.329, a 73 wRC+, and 9 home runs in 385 plate appearances. It wasn't just the top-line numbers. He was genuinely lost at the plate. It appeared to be largely an approach with him. His bat speed is in the 92nd percentile.
Your browser does not support the video tag.
We don't recognize that guy any more. Since the All-Star Break (not counting last night), Austin is on a .290/.333/.522 tear with a 131 wRC+ and four home runs. The fifth was pretty huge last night, until the ugliness occurred.
I owe you guys a deep dive but it's after midnight. I will show you know one thing that I have noticed lately. Austin is pulling non-fastballs now. I don't know if this is an approach thing or he's seeing the ball better or what exactly. But it's definitely a trend. Might want to add another data point well into the Yankee Stadium left field bleachers.

Newcastle United's midfield rebuild has largely centered on young players with room to grow, but the club's next move could go in a very different direction as Matthias Jaissle looks for more experience following a summer of major senior departures.
According to Foot Mercato's Santi Aouna and Chemssdine Belgacem, Marseille captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has emerged as one of Newcastle's leading options to replace Bruno Guimaraes, with sporting director Ross Wilson directly handling the pursuit.
"According to our information, Newcastle have added the 31-year-old Marseille midfielder to their shortlist," Foot Mercato reported. "Seeking consistency and a more ***** ertive midfield, the Magpies see Højbjerg as the ideal candidate to solidify their midfield."
The report adds that Newcastle's interest is built heavily around Hojbjerg's Premier League experience after previous spells with Southampton and Tottenham.
"The former Southampton and Tottenham player's extensive knowledge of the Premier League is a major ***** et for the English club, who are keen to quickly secure the services of a player who can contribute immediately," the outlet reported.

Chelsea continue their pre-season tour with a trip to Indonesia, where they are set to take on AC Milan on Saturday at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
The Blues have not enjoyed the most convincing run of results under new head coach Xabi Alonso so far. Their preparations began on a positive note with a win over Western Sydney Wanderers, but momentum has since dipped. Chelsea have gone on to lose their last two matches, first suffering a narrow defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, then a 1-0 loss to Juventus in Hong Kong.
Alonso is currently dealing with several selection concerns ahead of the clash in Jakarta, largely due to a stretched squad in the aftermath of the World Cup.
Several key first-team players are still unavailable as they continue to regain full fitness. Those missing include Enzo Fernández, Reece James, Malo Gusto, Jordan Henderson, Maxence Lacroix, Morgan Rogers, and Valentín Barco.
There is some encouraging news, however, as Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill are both expected to return after missing the Juventus game with minor injuries.

Emerald Wealth Partners, an independent **** et and wealth management firm based in Zurich, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for the "Focused Equity Strategy." A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The Strategy reported a 0.8% gross return for the second quarter of 2026. Equity markets rallied after the first quarter's Iran shock faded and oil prices reversed their spike, but the advance remained narrow and concentrated in cyclical semiconductor and memory stocks benefiting from supply constraints. The letter warned that investors were treating peak-cycle earnings as durable, while FOMO, IPO demand, and a US cyclically adjusted P/E ratio near 40 pointed to late-cycle market behavior. Long-term fundamentals are currently undervalued by the market, leading to underperformance in the strategy, notably due to the portfolio's avoidance of low-quality momentum-driven semiconductor stocks, which boosted the benchmark this quarter. It remains focused on enterprise infrastructure, digital platforms, custom silicon, and networking businesses that hold customer relationships, workflow data, distribution, and efficiency advantages, which could allow them to monetize AI rather than be displaced by it. Please review the Strategy's top five holdings for its key selections.
According to Emerald Wealth Partners Focused Equity Strategy's Q2 2026 investor letter, Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE:ICE), a US-based financial services company that provides technology, data, and market infrastructure to financial institutions, corporations, and government entities, detracted from the performance. On August 04, 2026, Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE:ICE) closed at $149.20 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $83.76 billion. Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE:ICE) posted a one-month return of 8.77%, and its shares lost 20.66% over the past 52 weeks.
Emerald Wealth Partners Focused Equity Strategy stated the following regarding Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE:ICE) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Intercontinental Exchange, Inc.'s (NYSE:ICE) 21.4% share decline knocked 58 bps from the portfolio's performance. ICE is emblematic of a broader group of high-quality businesses caught in a negative AI narrative largely disconnected from their underlying fundamentals. The company owns a unique collection of complementary franchises — including the New York Stock Exchange, clearing houses, fixed income data businesses and a mortgage technology platform — **** embled over decades through disciplined and accretive acquisitions. These businesses continue to benefit from secular growth in trading volumes and recurring data revenues, while the electronification of mortgage origination remains in its early stages. In our view, artificial intelligence is far more likely to enhance the value of ICE's proprietary data and infrastructure than replicate the **** ets that underpin its competitive advantages."

Midstream stocks, or shares in companies that own energy **** ets like oil and gas pipelines and storage facilities, are an unglamorous yet highly profitable niche within the energy sector. Operating as a "toll road" type business, generating fixed fees largely unaffected by volatile fossil fuel prices, these companies can quietly mint profit during boom times and bust times in the oil sector.
This can create fantastic compounding potential for investors more concerned with capital growth. This holds especially true for owners of the following three pipeline stocks: Enbridge (NYSE: ENB), Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE: EPD), and MPLX (NYSE: MPLX).
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Enbridge is a diversified energy and utility infrastructure company. In addition to owning over 18,000 miles of pipeline across the U.S. and Canada, Enbridge operates a gas utilities company serving over 7 million customers. The company has also invested extensively in renewable energy infrastructure.
Diversification notwithstanding, it's Enbridge's midstream **** ets that make it a steady cash generator, enabling it to consistently raise its dividend over time. While the company's dividend growth streak currently stands at just three years, its quarterly payouts have grown by an average of 7.3% annually over the past decade.

For months, investors questioned whether Palantir Technologies (PLTR) could justify its premium valuation, especially as competition in the artificial intelligence (AI) enterprise software market intensified. Those concerns, however, have largely taken a back seat following the company's blockbuster second-quarter results and significantly stronger-than-expected outlook.
Palantir continues to benefit from surging demand for its AI Platform (AIP), which is driving rapid growth in both revenue and profitability. The latest results suggest that the company is not only maintaining its leadership in the enterprise AI software market but is also widening its competitive advantage through strong customer adoption and execution.

For now, beleaguered Fifa president Gianni Infantino still has some allies in world football, particularly in parts of the world where less well-off football ****** ociations have benefited from his presidency.
Infantino's position has been under scrutiny since his controversial plan to sell stakes in Fifa's global competitions to private investors was scrapped having been opposed by some regional governing bodies.
Late on Thursday, the executive committee of the African confederation (Caf) unanimously confirmed its support for Infantino, after leading African football administrators sent messages backing him.
Five of the seven African countries on the Fifa Council - Egypt, Morocco, Niger, Mauritania and Comoros - have already supported him publicly.
Support from the continent largely stems from Fifa's Forward programme, a funding scheme Infantino introduced in 2016 that many African federations have become increasingly reliant on to fund football projects in areas where commercial and government investment in the sport is limited.

The fallout from one of the NBA's blockbuster trades of the summer continues to ripple across the Eastern Conference. While the trade that sent Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics to the rival Philadelphia 76ers stunned NBA fans, Philly's new addition has largely kept his thoughts on his former co-star, Jayson Tatum, under wraps—until now.
During his introductory press conference on Thursday, Brown was asked about his relationship with Tatum. After briefly discussing the topic, he was asked if he had talked to Tatum since the trade. The 29-year-old didn't have much to offer other than two words on that topic:
"Not really," Brown responded.
Prior to that, Brown addressed a question about whether he and Tatum wanted to continue their partnership over the past year and gave a straightforward response.
"Um, you know, we won a championship together, so anybody that you win a championship [with], you would think that's what a brotherhood or a lifelong legacy would entail," Brown responded. "Obviously, there's ups and downs in any type of relationship, for sure. But on my end, it's nothing but respect. Besides when he plays the Sixers, I hope he does well. But other than that, everything for me is just based in respect."

Following a week of mixed data on hiring and layoffs, figures coming Friday from the Labor Department will be the arbiter of whether the job market remained stable in July.
Economists surveyed by Bloomberg expect the US economy added 80,000 positions, while the unemployment rate is expected to stay flat at 4.2%. That would be an improvement from June's jobs report, which showed payrolls grew by 57,000 jobs.
Private data released this week on the health of the labor market has been largely benign. Job openings slowed a touch in June, with little movement in quits, layoffs, and hiring rates. Private-sector hiring data from ADP, meanwhile, showed growth fell short of economists' predictions last month, but pay for job-switchers improved — a small bright spot. And the global outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas reported that layoff plans declined last month, while hiring plans increased.
An ******* ysis from the Bank of America Institute published Wednesday also noted that payroll growth appeared to accelerate in July, based on deposit account data. Job gains were led by lower-income households, while their annual after-tax wage growth surpassed that of higher-income households for the first time since December 2024.
