On Saturday, September 12, the music executive took to Instagram with a birthday tribute to his girlfriend. Alongside a video of the two dancing and kissing in front of a castle, he wrote, "Happy birthday to the woman who is the exception to every rule. For generations of American teenagers, turning 16 and getting a driver's license has been a rite of passage—and a first taste of independence. But that milestone could soon become a thing of the past, according to Andrew Macdonald, president and chief operating officer at Uber.
"In some future world, maybe not five years, but 15 or 20 years, everyone's going to be like Harry—nobody's going to own a car," Macdonald said in a recent episode of the 20VC podcast with host and entrepreneur Harry Stebbings.
"Nobody's going to have their driver's license because you'll be able to get around. And I think bikes and scooters will be part of that. I think autonomous vehicles will be part of that. I think public transportation will be a big part of that, but I don't think you need to own a car."
That future would represent a dramatic shift for a country where car ownership has been synonymous with the American Dream. But with new vehicle prices having soared 30% over the last six years, Macdonald argued that the economics don't make sense when vehicles spend most of their time sitting unused.
"The individually owned car is the most inefficient ***** et that anyone owns, and certainly at any level of price point," Macdonald said. "It sits idle 98% of the day. It's depreciating. The ongoing operating costs are actually high—even if you're not driving it, you're paying for that insurance clip."

Tulane running back Jamauri McClure missed practice on Tuesday, Aug. 11 due to an injured left foot, per Guerry Smith of The Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate. The San Francisco Giants have taken the unusual step of suspending outfielder Harrison Bader without pay "until he is able to resume performing services for the Club."
Bader, who signed a two-year, $20.5 million contract with San Francisco hasn't played since May 29th as he has been suffering from planter fasciitis in his left foot. In the 30 games he did play for the Giants, he slashed a paltry .170/.198/.358, with five home runs.
On the last weekend of July, according to a public report made by the San Francisco Fire Department, at around 2 a.m., Bader (although not mentioned specifically by name), drove his scooter into the back of a fire truck in the Cow Hollow District. Per the report, the injured individual was "transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries."
It turns out that those injuries were a crushed left foot, the result of the fire truck rolling over said foot, which is the same one that has kept Bader out of the lineup for more than two months. The irony of the situation is that Bader was scheduled to fly to Indianapolis the day after the crash to have the planter fasciitis examined by a medical specialist. As reported by MLB.com, a Giants source stated that the accident "changed the nature of the evaluation."

The Green Bay Packers' tight end room is extremely banged up right now. Beyond not having Tucker Kraft, who is still ramping back up in practice after suffering a season-ending ACL tear in 2025, the Packers were also down Luke Musgrave (neck) and R.J. Maryland (hamstring) going into practice on Monday. The Athletic's Matt Schneidman noticed that Luke Lachey, who was signed by the Packers in mid-June after initially failing his physical due to a hamstring issue, was also in a boot and on a scooter post-practice.

If you are just waking up, where have you been? The Braves kicked off their postseason by adding righty outfielder Lane Thomas from the Royals. If you had been reading us all this time, you may have had an inkling.

From Lane Thomas's Fangraphs profile, he appears to have peaked in 2023. He hit 28 home runs with the Nationals that year and compiled 2.9 WAR. But he hasn't reached those heights since. Lane suffered a left MCL injury in April 2024 before being shipped to the Guardians. In 2025, he suffered a bone bruise before serving two IL stints for plantar fasciitis. However, he was able to keep away from scooters long enough to come back and have a league average offensive season in the outfield for Kansas City. Now, I feel you may not be sold on Thomas in the same way that the Braves were. Nevertheless, if Atlanta employs him in the correct manner, he becomes a very useful piece.
A brief aside to mention a couple of things. Shoutout to Ivan to get me started on this, and we'll hopefully catch some typos later if necessary. Also, thanks to whomever leaked this trade info before 10 pm so we had time to put something together for Sunday morning.

The 10-year MLB veteran has been out since May 29 battling left plantar fasciitis. He then exacerbated that injury in a scooter accident over the weekend, according to the Giants.
Bader met with a foot and ankle specialist in Indianapolis on Monday, but the evaluation "was complicated by the fact that he had a scooter accident on Saturday night/early Sunday morning and further injured his same foot," according to the franchise's representative.
"The impact of that injury changed the nature of his evaluation, which had originally been to determine the severity of the initial injury/condition," the Giants said.
The center fielder then returned to San Francisco, where he was further examined again on the same day. He was expected to receive an MRI on Tuesday to "better understand the severity of the injuries sustained from the scooter accident," according to the club.

Retailers including Amazon, Argos and Currys have been found to advertise e‑scooters for use on public roads and paths, despite this being against UK law.
An investigation from the Press ******* ociation (PA) found major brands and independent sellers were promoting their use on the roads.
But only rented e-scooters can legally be ridden on roads, cycle paths and in parks in the UK. Privately-owned e-scooters can only be used on private land with the landowner's permission.
The major outlets changed their advertising after being contacted by PA. They also pointed to guidance on their websites which said customers had to follow local laws.
But smaller retailers still appear to be promoting e-scooters for commuting or riding in towns and cities.

HACKENSACK — A street near Hackensack High School will be renamed in honor of Gordon “Scooter” Whiting, the beloved former Hackensack coach and athletic director who died in May.
The City Council voted Tuesday, June 16, to rename the intersection of Beech and Second streets as Gordon “Scooter” Whiting Way. The decision was met with applause from a packed council chambers filled with family, friends and former students.
“This is a well-deserved honor for the Whiting family. Scooter was a thoughtful, caring man who deeply loved Hackensack,” Mayor Caseen Gaines said. “He believed in this city, he believed in its people, and he always believed our shared future could be better if we worked together toward it, as a community.”

Whiting died at age 58 on May 15, just two days after the city Board of Education had accepted his retirement.
