After 99 days, No. 99 and one of MLB's biggest stars is back in action.
The Yankees have activated three-time American League Most Valuable Player and star outfielder Aaron Judge from the 60-day disabled list. Judge has been out of action with a fractured rib since early June, and his return brings back one of MLB's foremost fan attractions.
Already, ticket prices are quickly rising on the resale market for Judge's first game back, which will be Tuesday night at home against the Rockies. As of Tuesday morning, the average get-in price for the game was $87, more than twice the comparable level from Saturday and far higher than what a midweek game against a lowly Colorado team would normally fetch.

The anticipation for the season has finally come to an end and most of the teams played as advertised. However, some teams hit the snooze **** on and it took them a moment to get into the game. Here is the Big Ten Roundup of each game involving a Big Ten Conference team.
Rutgers started the season off with a loss as the Minutemen dominated the Scarlet Knights from start to finish. The turning point in the game came in the second quarter as the Scarlet Knights turned the ball over twice, which gave Massachusetts the chance to create a massive 17-point second lead entering the second. Rutgers could be in for a long season.
The Golden Gophers flew past the Panthers with ease as they controlled the game on offense, defense and special teams. Senior wide receiver Javon Tracy started the Golden Gophers season with a bang with two punt return touchdowns to cap off Minnesota's exhilarating blowout.

By this time next year, athletic contests outside are scheduled to take place at Geneva High School.
Work on the school's new athletic complex is scheduled to start at the end of September, District Superintendent Paul Lombardo said.
"Our goal is to be completed by June 2027," he said. "We want to play our first game at the new stadium."
Renderings of the facility show a turf field, stands which can hold 1,300 fans, press box, lights and eight-lane track.
Lombardo said the anticipation is building toward the new facility.

Palo Alto Networks Inc (NYSE:PANW, XETRA:5AP) shares fell 10% Wednesday even after the cybersecurity company beat expectations across key fourth-quarter metrics and issued fiscal 2027 guidance above Street estimates.
The company reported next-generation security (NGS) annual recurring revenue of $9.1 billion, up 63% year-over-year, topping the Street's $8.86 billion estimate and including nearly $1 billion in net new ARR.
Revenue came in at $3.41 billion versus expectations of $3.35 billion, while remaining performance obligations reached $21.2 billion against a $20.95 billion estimate. Earnings per share of $1.02 beat the $0.98 consensus.
Operating margin was roughly in line at 29.6% versus an expected 29.3%, while gross margin came in light at 74.8% versus 76%.
Analysts at BofA said the muted market reaction reflected an unusually high bar for the quarter rather than any weakness in execution, noting that elevated investor expectations, driven by anticipation around Chronosphere, CyberArk cross-sell and improving cyber demand, left investors looking for an even stronger beat.

Tim Curry's cause of death has been revealed eight days after his passing on Aug. 25.
According to documents obtained by People from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" actor died of coronary artery disease. The report also cited his history of health issues including his 2012 stroke and kidney cancer. While these ailments contributed to his death they were not the underlying cause.
The actor died last week at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, 14 years after he suffered a paralyzing stroke. He maintained a presence in the public eye through the intervening years through fan conventions, social media and his 2025 memoir "Vagabond."
"Though widely known for his inimitable, flamboyant characters and colorful stage performances, his greatest legacies to those who knew him were his curious, expansive mind and generous, gentle heart, both of which remained open and filled with anticipation until his final breath," Curry's team shared in a statement last week.

With all the anticipation, excitement and expectations for the season converging at Memorial Stadium on Saturday as Cal football kicks off against UCLA to usher in its new era, first-year head coach Tosh Lupoi and the Bears are focused on keeping the main thing as the main thing. And that main thing is themselves.
"I think that just depends on personal expectations," Lupoi said Tuesday morning when asked how he balances the anticipation of this moment for Cal with the actual football played between the white lines.
"This is a great challenge, a great Big Ten opponent coming in … and then you dial into what matters, right? Of us, how we're playing, our opportunity to display our culture, to kick off the new era of Cal football, and don't really put a lot into what anybody else's expectations are. Just really declaring what we want to go accomplish and how we want to get there, and keep the main thing, the main thing, every day."
The Bears' dedication to being internally focused has gone so far as to extend their training camp all the way into Monday, which Lupoi conceded leaves them a little behind on their game preparation for the Bruins. But while Lupoi and the Bears remain fixated on the happenings inside the locker room, the buzz outside those walls is loud.

When you think of College GameDay, you think of a festive, joyous atmosphere that celebrates college football and campuses around the country. But it wasn't always that way, especially if Lee Corso dared to pick the visiting team.
Before his retirement at the beginning of last season, Corso's mascot headgear pick was the climax of the program and one of the highlights of televised sports every week across the fall. Thankfully, ESPN has decided to retire the tradition along with him as it hasn't been picked up since. But the hype and anticipation for who he would pick and whether he would ride with the home team or dare to go against the grain was a huge deal.
And it was apparently too huge for some.
Longtime College GameDay ******* yst Kirk Herbstreit appeared on The Press Box podcast with Bryan Curtis at The Ringer and detailed a couple of scary incidents where fans were so upset over Corso's headgear picks that they actually threw projectiles at the set in the early years of the road show. Once it was a golf ball, and another time it was a full beer can. Herbstreit said that after the second occasion, the show put up a protective net behind the stage to ensure the safety of the on-air personalities.
"I remember two different occasions. We were at LSU doing an LSU-Alabama game and Corso picked Alabama. And he put on an elephant hat. This is before he did the helmets. And he had a massive Alabama red or crimson flag with an "A" on it and he's picking Alabama right in the heart of Baton Rouge. And here comes a golf ball flying from I don't know, 30 yards out, and it just happened to hit the flag that he was waving and it landed right on the desk," Herbstreit said.

NEW YORK, Aug 28 (Reuters) - The Federal Reserve will "have work to do" if policymakers are not confident that underlying inflation is returning to its 2% target, Chair Kevin Warsh said on Friday in remarks that marked the closest he has come to acknowledging interest rate hikes may be needed to ease price pressures.
Short-term Treasuries sold off in anticipation of rate increases as soon as next month, with the 2-year Treasury yield rising 11 basis points to 4.34%, its highest in a month. The 10-year Treasury yield was up 5 basis points at 4.72% and the 30-year Treasury yield was up 1.6 basis points at 5.206%.
U.S. stocks were mixed early in the afternoon on Friday, with the Nasdaq off 0.3%, while the U.S. dollar index rose 0.6% to 99.66, again reflecting expectations that rates will rise. The rates market was showing a 60% chance of a rate increase next month, up from 35% before the speech, according to CME data.

Former Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer is really high on Bo Nix ahead of the quarterback's third season in the NFL
Nix, coming off a broken ankle, is looking to break into the top half of signal-callers, and Plummer says there's no concern on his end about Nix getting right back to form this fall.
"I think we're going to see the same Bo we've seen," Plummer said at a USAA boot camp at the Broncos' facility on Wednesday. "The kid loves football. He's a great leader. He plays a game with a ton of passion... hopefully he can go through the season without getting hurt because we saw how important he was to this team."
Nix's importance to the Broncos cannot be overstated, going into one of the most anticipated seasons for the franchise since 2015. Nix's statistics are hard to ignore as well, as his numbers match up with some of the best in the NFL over the past two seasons. Plummer praised Nix's superb athleticism and smarts when he's under center.
"The kid plays the game at a really high level," Plummer said. "He's smart with the ball. He can stay in the pocket, throw the ball. I'm hoping he gets a little more anticipation this year, maybe not having to rip it all the time, but taking a little bit off and leading guys and knowing when the holes are opening in the passing game. But then outside of that, he's just amazing at what he does with his legs. He's so smart when he runs. He picks the right times and he's also very elusive, a lot more elusive and quick than people give him credit for in this league that's full of so many mobile athletic gunslingers and quarterbacks. I think Bo ranks right up there with the tops."

For the first trading session of August 26th, the U.S. dollar is holding tight due to market anticipation of the July PCE inflation report as well as market forecasts of the first Fed Chairman Jackson Hole speech by Kevin Warsh. A more hawkish timing for a potential September rate pause by the Fed seems to be the more prevalent market opinion, with the July PCE inflation report likely to reinforce that opinion or counter it and push the market towards an additional rate hike. Collins, Boston Fed President, said during the week that interest rates will need to go up unless core inflation (which is currently hovering around 3.3%) shows a material decline.
Fiscal policy is also a looking constraining. While Treasury attempts to stabilize long term yields by expanding its existing bond buyback programs, practices to support aggressive Treasury borrowing, have come back into the spotlight and prompted some to ask whether there is a real threat of "fiscal dominance" for a central bank. That is a theme that will almost definitely be addressed at Jackson Hole along with inflation and Fed independence.
The Euro, on the other hand, has a clearer and more pressing monetary policy environment. ECB Executive Board member, Schnabel, said that current policy remains accommodative and that rates will need to be raised higher in order to return inflation to target in a sustainable manner. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, beginning this season, the NFL's rookies will wear Topps' Debut Patches on their jerseys in their respective debuts, before the patches are placed in one-of-one trading cards after their first games conclude.
Topps returned to the NFL during the spring, as their parent company Fanatics, as well as the NFL and NFLPA, came together to make the famous brand the league's official trading card licensee. The Debut Patch commemorates the brand's return to the league.

In less than two weeks, Louisiana football will be gearing up for its 2026 season opener vs Lamar on Sept. 5, and the anticipation only continues to grow.
The Ragin' Cajuns wrapped up fall camp on Aug. 22, using the majority of their final scrimmage to work on situational plays, goal-line sets and redzone drives. Now fifth-year head coach Michael Desoremeaux and his staff will try to continue to put the pieces together as they hope to outdo 2025's 6-7 overall finish.
The biggest positive heading into this final offseason stretch for UL is the impending return of wide receiver Shelton Sampson Jr., who missed the entire preseason camp due to a knee injury. Sampson's return, however, doesn't put an end to the injury bug that lingers on the Cajuns roster.
"Injury-wise, we got some good and bad news, Brock Chappell and Broderick Stewart didn't finish the scrimmage," Desormeaux said. "They're going to go see the doctors today and we're hoping that it's not a long-term deal. They feel like Brock's is probably not. Broderick, we're gonna wait and see the image and what it looks like.
"Maxie [Baudoin IV] did miss the scrimmage last week, it's nothing major just some stuff that he's kind of having. Just a little bit of aggravation in his arm so I'll feel good about getting him back."

It already feels like quite some time ago, and yet it also still feels like it was only just a few weeks ago that Germany yet again floundered out of the World Cup far earlier than they should have. In Foxborough, Massachusetts, they fell to Paraguay in a penalty shootout after failing to get the job done in 90 minutes, but the writing was on the wall as they collectively failed to hit their heights throughout the entire tournament — starting off the group stages with a 7-1 trouncing of Curaçao in Houston, Texas probably didn't do wonders for keeping them on their toes.
Too many players underperformed, mid-match management calls and tactical changes might not have been right, but what's done is done and Germany can now ride a wave of anticipation and excitement into Jürgen Klopp's reign as Die Mannschaft manager, as the former Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Mainz man took over for Julian Nagelsmann. The DFB more or less strongly urged Nagelsmann to resign after the World Cup, but was he really to blame for everything that went wrong for Germany, or was he just the easiest scapegoat to point at? For former/honorary Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeneß, the problems with the team extended well beyond Nagelsmann.
"I think our team's performance was an absolute disaster. It was a disgrace for our country. But there are various reasons for that. Enough has already been said about Julian Nagelsmann. I don't think he is solely to blame. We don't have a team of outstanding quality, but you can still have a good World Cup. Argentina proved that. They don't have a good team, but they threw everything into it like crazy. That's what I felt was missing from our team," Hoeneß recently stressed to RTL / Sky Germany (via iMiaSanMia).
Of course, Argentina made it to the final in East Rutherford, New Jersey where they lost to Spain, but a great portion of their campaign was a massive topic of discussions for the way in which they were given a plethora of favorable calls in different matches and getting away with blatant, persistent fouling.
That's not to say that the Argentine squad doesn't possess the grit, fight, and tenacity within the laws of the game that routinely gets them to the latter stages of World Cups, but there certainly questions raised; why didn't Lionel Messi get a red vs. Saudi Arabia, why was Egypt's 3rd goal disallowed, why didn't anyone get booked early on vs. England? All legitimate questions asked, but for Hoeneß, he doesn't see that type of fight from Germany that Argentina almost always displays.

"I think our team's performance was an absolute disaster. It was a disgrace for our country. But there are various reasons for that. Enough has already been said about Julian Nagelsmann. I don't think he is solely to blame. We don't have a team of outstanding quality, but you can still have a good World Cup. Argentina proved that. They don't have a good team, but they threw everything into it like crazy. That's what I felt was missing from our team," Hoeneß recently stressed to RTL / Sky Germany (via iMiaSanMia).
Of course, Argentina made it to the final in East Rutherford, New Jersey where they lost to Spain, but a great portion of their campaign was a massive topic of discussions for the way in which they were given a plethora of favorable calls in different matches and getting away with blatant, persistent fouling.
That's not to say that the Argentine squad doesn't possess the grit, fight, and tenacity within the laws of the game that routinely gets them to the latter stages of World Cups, but there certainly questions raised; why didn't Lionel Messi get a red vs. Saudi Arabia, why was Egypt's 3rd goal disallowed, why didn't anyone get booked early on vs. England? All legitimate questions asked, but for Hoeneß, he doesn't see that type of fight from Germany that Argentina almost always displays.

The broadcast crew was busy packing up for the next game, but the work was only getting started for Manjula and the 130 groundstaff at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. It rained immediately after the two teams completed their handshakes, but unlike the preceding week, there was no urgency to cover the square or the ground. Overseeing operations, Manjula stood on top of the advertising board and kept a close eye as the covers were neatly folded and parked after a week of intense activity.
Since India and Sri Lanka arrived in the coastal city for the series opener, rain has appeared frequently enough to keep Manjula and his team on their toes. Not all of them are employees of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). Only 16 are permanent staff in Galle, while 10 came from Hambantota to help with the international fixture. The remaining staff were hired as daily workers.
"We have 16 permanent employees and 10 come from Hambantota whenever an international match comes to Galle. For the rest, we hire daily workers for the duration of the match and practice sessions, and they are paid between 2,500 LKR and 4,000 LKR per day for the work," says Manjula.
From anticipation to execution, the groundstaff stuck to their methods and ensured there was no chaos, even during a heavy downpour. The average time they take to cover the entire ground is less than five minutes, and they work quickly depending on the situation. They look for cues, observe the cloud behaviour and are always staring towards the Indian Ocean near the Galle Fort.
"We keep our eyes there," he says, pointing towards the ocean near the fort. "When clouds start building up, we know it's coming. Then we are ready and wait for the official signal to start covering the pitch, square, run-up and then the entire ground. That's the order we follow."
"The reaction time is very important," he adds.
When the groundstaff run from all directions, dragging the covers, the synchronised effort is a sight. The first batch, covering the pitch and square, times their runs so there is no overlapping, and speed cannot be compromised because the run-up and the remainder of the field must be covered next. These are anything but light covers, and a 100x100 piece can weigh over 650 kg. Add to this the challenges of wind and rain.
"These are not light," Manjula says with a laugh. "They are well over 650 kg each for a 100x100 piece, and there are about 28 pieces we have to cover the entire ground and ensure no damage is done to the outfield."
While the covers are heavy enough to stay grounded on their own, heavy crosswinds present a challenge, and the next step is to carefully place heavy rubber tyres to keep the covers in place. More than 300 tyres are ready to be rolled onto the ground the moment rain arrives.
