Former All-Star believes the Wizards could lose Anthony Davis and still reach the Playoffs originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season, the Washington Wizards have made some promising developments. They boast a talented squad, and people might not be aware of the number of talented players they have on the roster.
Of course, most people will recognize Anthony Davis and Trae Young as multi-time All-Stars. However, it seems that Davis is not that integral to their plans, especially with trade rumors following him everywhere he goes.
As a former All-Star guard, Jeff Teague knows what it takes for a team to succeed. He was part of that Atlanta Hawks team that became the first seed in 2015, but still disappointed in the Playoffs.
At the moment, the Wizards' focus must be on succeeding in the regular season. It will be quite challenging because of the abundance of talent in the Eastern Conference, so all hands on deck is needed for them to achieve that goal.

A longtime NBA journeyman recently named Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry as one of the league's top five players. In an interview with HoopsHype, 14-year NBA veteran Danilo Gallinari spoke about his career and the current state of the NBA. When asked to give a top-five list of current players, Curry was the first name he said. "Current Top 5, I always, I guess I always go with the old heads first: Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James. And then I put Anthony Edwards and Nikola Jokic."
Gallinari, a former No. 6 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, played for eight different franchises, with his longest stop coming in Denver. Despite suffering two ACL tears during his career, the Italian forward put together an impressive resume, playing in 777 career games, averaging 14.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.9 ***** ists and 0.7 steals while shooting 42.8% from the floor and 38.1% from beyond the arc. His strongest campaign came with the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2018-19 season, where he averaged 19.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.6 ***** ists and 0.7 steals. Gallinari's final season came during the 2023-24 campaign, where he played for three different teams, the Wizards, Pistons and Bucks.

Lakers predicted to sign $15M explosive former first-round pick to revive career around Luka Doncic originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Former first-round pick Cam Whitmore is simply looking for an opportunity to play for the right team in the right situation. He still does not know exactly where that will be, but he is hoping to find the right fit soon.
Whitmore was on the roster bubble with the Washington Wizards before being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cleveland ultimately waived him to make room for James Harden.
"The Cleveland Cavaliers have waived Cam Whitmore, league sources told hoopshype. Whitmore, the 20th pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, has averaged 10.5 points on 45% from the field and 35% from 3-point range in 17.3 minutes during three NBA seasons with the Rockets and Wizards," HoopsHype's Michael Scotto wrote.
Whitmore still has time to develop into the player many believe he can become. Fadeaway World's Fran Leiva believes the Los Angeles Lakers could be the team to give him that opportunity.

Selena Gomez can't wait to have a baby with her husband, Benny Blanco, whom she married in 2025.
In a recent Instagram story, the singer's text has sparked speculation about whether the singer and actress is craving her own family.
In an Instagram story, Gomez is seen with a newborn baby. Below the photo, Gomez revealingly wrote, "One day". Her words point to a future where she would have a baby of her own with her husband, Benny Blanco.

The 2026-27 Atlanta Hawks schedule is finally here, and it looks like a wild ride. Fans can look forward to intense matchups against old rivals and emotional returns to the arena.
I was just sitting on my porch thinking about how fast time flies. It feels like just yesterday we were worrying about last season's injuries. Now, we are already looking at the new calendar and dreaming of wins.
The season starts with a bang on October 21 against the Orlando Magic. This game is more than just a season opener. Per Peachtree Hoops, there is a lot of tension between these two teams.
The Magic have caused some real trouble for Atlanta lately. Two years ago, they caused injuries to Vit Krejci and Larry Nance Jr. in a single game. That was just the start of the mess. Last season, the Hawks actually swept Orlando, but the Magic also managed to sideline Jock Landale. He missed the rest of that season and the playoffs because of an injury. You can just feel that bad blood between these squads.
Then we have November 6, which is going to be a real tear-jerker. The Hawks play the Washington Wizards, and it marks the official return of Trae Young against his old team. Even though he got a video tribute last season, he could not play because he was hurt. Now, he will be healthy and ready to show them what they are missing.

For the third year in a row, Yahoo Sports is simulating a full NBA season in the latest entry in the NBA 2K franchise — NBA 2K27.
Last year's simulation proved to be shockingly accurate. Not only did NBA 2K26 predict the Knicks to win the NBA Finals and Jalen Brunson to be named NBA Finals MVP, it also nailed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's repeat bid for MVP, Victor Wembanyama's Defensive Player of the Year nod and Cooper Flagg's Rookie of the Year victory. It even had the Wizards as the league's worst team, albeit with half of the wins the real-life version managed to muster.
All things considered, it was safe to say one of the best simulation video game experiences on the market walked the walk.
Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
For those new to this series, here are the rules: We select one team, at random (Miami Heat) and run through a MyEras season with CPU trade offers turned off, with G-League, scouting and rotational decisions set to automatic. The simulation is halted to record the NBA Cup winner, at the end of the regular season and before the NBA Finals.

Unrivaled, the professional three-on-three women's basketball league, announced Wednesday that it had raised money that puts the league's valuation at $650 million.
Unrivaled president Alex Bazzell said in a statement that this Series C funding is ******* ulatively more than all of the league's other funding combined, and he sees it helping strengthen the league, which will enter its third season this winter. The valuation is an estimate made by the league.
The three-on-three league was co-founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier (Bazzell's wife) and provides players with an equity stake in addition to their salaries. The players remain the largest shareholder group after this latest investment round, with the value of the player-equity pool increasing to nearly $200 million, according to the league.
Ten Pillar Sports Fund, backed by UC Investments, led the Series C raise, which is oversubscribed, surpassing the league's initial $100 million target. Sports stars including Naismith Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony, Washington Wizards guard Trae Young and UConn coach Geno Auriemma, and former U.S. soccer star Alex Morgan's Trybe Ventures, actor Ashton Kutcher and Bessemer Venture Partners built on previous investments in the league. The estimated valuation of the eight-team league puts it ahead of each WNBA team except that of the Golden State Valkyries, according to Sportico's 2026 WNBA valuation ranking.
"Anyone who's watched Unrivaled knows this game is every bit as thrilling as any other sport out there — and there's another essential ingredient that drew us in: Unrivaled's athletes don't just play in the league, they own a piece of it," UC Investment chief investment officer Jagdeep Singh Bachher said in a statement. "We're excited to help propel that momentum forward."

The Los Angeles Lakers haven't given up on trying to ***** forward Jonathan ***** inga. They have been trying to acquire the free agent since early this summer, when they reportedly met with him and promised him a starting role.
After negotiations on a potential sign-and-trade deal with the Atlanta Hawks went dead a few weeks ago, they apparently restarted again, according to Kurt Helin of NBC Sports. Helin reported that the talks are now centered around Jaden Hardy, a guard Los Angeles acquired last month when it traded center Deandre Ayton to the Washington Wizards.
Now, Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report says that the ***** inga saga will be resolved soon, as the Lakers compete with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the services of the 23-year-old.
"Comes down to Minnesota or Los Angeles," Fischer said. "Kuminga, I think, has seemed to prefer going to the Lakers. They have the most opportunity to negotiate there. …
"The Lakers have been selling him on this vision of having him start next to Luka [Doncic]. They're gonna have the spending power in theory to reward him next year if all goes according to plan. That's going to come to some type of conclusion here soon. I thought it could have happened last week, but I still have been told nothing to suggest that ***** inga's situation is not coming down to the Lakers or the Timberwolves."

The clock is ticking on a massive shift in the NBA landscape. The Los Angeles Lakers are back in the hunt for Jonathan **** inga after a recent trade move cleared the path. This is not a rumor floating in the dark anymore. It is a concrete plan that could change the Atlanta Hawks' season instantly. According to reports, the Lakers have found a new way to make a sign-and-trade deal work for the young forward. The window to act is open right now, and Atlanta cannot sit on the sidelines while Los Angeles builds a contender.
The narrative has changed fast in just the last few days. Sports Illustrated reported that the Lakers' pursuit of **** inga has gotten fresh life after a specific trade shift occurred elsewhere. This new life means the financial and **** et hurdles are lower than they were yesterday. The Golden State Warriors are still watching, but the Lakers are now the team to beat. A report from Lakers Nation suggests **** inga appears to prefer one suitor over the other. That preference matters more than the cap **** e because the player holds the leverage. If the young star wants to go to Los Angeles, the Hawks must get paid big or lose the **** et for nothing.
The Hawks sit in the driver's seat, but they need to know the price. Crafting a deal involves three teams, and the Pacers and Wizards are already in the mix according to reports. This complex structure shows how much value **** inga brings to the table. The Lakers cannot just send cash; they need to move other players to clear the salary. The Minnesota Timberwolves are also showing interest, which adds a third suitor to the fray. This competition drives up the price for Atlanta. The team needs to demand high draft picks or proven starters in return. A three-team sign-and-trade involving the Hawks, Pacers, and Wizards is the most likely path forward. The Hawks must steer **** inga away from the Lakers if they want to build a roster that wins now.
Time is the one **** et Atlanta cannot get back. The trade window will close, and the Lakers might find a way to pay the price. Yahoo Sports highlighted the pros and cons of signing **** inga, noting the risk of losing him for cheap. The risk is real. If the Hawks wait too long, the Lakers will make their final offer. The team needs to decide if they want to rebuild around a new core or cash in on a star. The answer is simple. Take the best offer possible and move on. The Lakers are ready to pay. The Hawks must be ready to sell. A deal with the Lakers could bring immediate help, but only if the terms are right. The next 48 hours will define the team's direction for years.

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The sci-fi-worthy machine soaring 120 feet tall in the hills outside Lynchburg had been all but left for dead - a $400 million experiment that collapsed as the energy economy shifted and the financial prospects for next-generation nuclear technology soured.
The faux eight-story reactor in Lynchburg, built to mimic a nuclear plant but run on electricity so engineers can safely monitor and tinker with it, languished a decade unused on a Liberty University engineering campus.

On Wednesday, news broke of the Denver Nuggets trading 3-and-D ******* et Peyton Watson in a five-team transaction. Among the many moving parts in this situation, Angel Reese's brother Julian was sent by the Washington Wizards to the Nuggets, who will reportedly waive the 23-year-old forward from his two-way contract.
While most of the attention has been on Watson and how he strengthens the Cleveland Cavaliers' lineup, NBA fans also had a number of reactions to Julian Reese's fate.
"I thought Julian Reese played pretty good last year. He can for sure rebound," one fan tweeted.
In 13 games with the Wizards last season, the 6-foot-9 Reese averaged 11.8 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while shooting 52.9% from the field.
His career high in scoring came when the Wizards blew out the Utah Jazz 133-110 on March 25. That night, the former Maryland standout put up 26 points on 12-for-16 shooting from the field. Reese also pulled down 17 rebounds.

Cardi B reignited her ongoing feud with BIA, slamming the rapper's relationship with Washington Wizards forward Cam Whitmore.
During her profanity-laden rant on X ***** es Thursday (Aug. 13), Cardi made reference to the 13-year age difference between BIA and Whitmore, saying, "You gotta date n****s half your age, ***** ."
BIA seemingly confirmed her romance with Whitmore when she posted a video of them together on her Instagram Stories, set to her song "+44," in October 2025. The rapper shared a clip of her sitting courtside at a Wizards game two months later. The two have been dating since.
Even though she did not name 22-year-old Whitmore, Cardi continued to poke fun at their age gap.

Of the new players on the Los Angeles Lakers' roster, guard Jaden Hardy is virtually an afterthought. He was acquired last month, along with two second-round draft picks, from the Washington Wizards for center Deandre Ayton, who had become expendable after Los Angeles landed Walker Kessler.
Right now, the general expectation is that Hardy will get little, if any, playing time. But amidst all this talk about Klay Thompson possibly coming to the Lakers, what if Hardy could play the same type of role, even if he isn't as good a player as the latter-day Thompson?
That is the argument that Maxwell Odgen of Lake Show Life made in a recent article. He feels that Hardy could fill the role Luke Kennard played for L.A. last season.
"Unfortunately, Hardy is a realistic candidate to find himself at the mercy of Los Angeles' need to trim its roster to 15 players as a fringe rotation piece with an unclear role," Ogden wrote.
"If the Lakers spare Hardy from being cut, however, then they could finally fill the void that Luke Kennard wasn't able to as a volume shooter from beyond the arc.

Brooklyn Nets rookie guard Mikel Brown Jr. had some hype around his name after being selected by the Nets with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Brooklyn was able to see Brown in action during the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League and while he had some nice moments, he doesn't appear to be in the running for the Rookie of the Year award.
In the most recent odds posted by BetMGM, Chicago Bulls forward Caleb Wilson and Memphis Grizzlies forward Cameron Boozer are tied for the lead to win the Rookie of the Year award. As this relates to the Nets, Brown has the sixth-best odds of winning the award which could put him in a position to be a darkhorse for the award, but he has some tough competition to beat out.
In addition to the aforementioned Wilson and Boozer, Brown also has to compete with Washington Wizards forward AJ Dybantsa and Utah Jazz guard Darryn Peterson, all players that were drafted ahead of the former Louisville Cardinal. Brown, like most of the rookies in contention for the award, is in a position to get plenty of reps as the starting point guard if he's able to win the job coming out of training camp.
Brown, 20, is coming off a solid summer circuit in which he averaged 15.0 points, 4.0 ****** ists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 38.8% from the field and 34.6% from behind the three-point line. Brown has had some interesting moments over the course of the summer, but next season will show how ready he is to be an NBA-level point guard for head coach Jordi Fernandez.
Brown will be playing alongside forwards Michael Porter Jr. and Julius Randle so he will be at least third in the offensive pecking order, depending on where guard Egor Demin fits into that equation. If Brown is able to play better than expected, then he could find himself in the running for Rookie of the Year and that's something that Nets fans could be excited about moving forward.

Today in Boston Celtics history, James Young was born in Flint, Michigan, in 1995. He played collegiate basketball for the University of Kentucky Wildcats, earning Second Team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman Team honors in 2014. Not long after, the Boston Celtics selected him with the 17th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
The Flint native struggled on both ends of the court at the next level, spending much of his time with Boston's developmental affiliate in the D League (as the G League was known in that era). This was of course the Maine Red Claws (now Celtics), where he spent a considerable part of his rookie season. He played a total of three seasons for the Celtics, but despite some strong showings with the Red Claws, couldn't put it together at the NBA level.
Young averaged 2.3 points and a rebound per game while with Boston.
It is also the anniversary of former Tom Gugliotta signing with Boston in 2004. It was the second-to-last stop in a long career in the league, with prior stops with the Washington Bullets (now, Wizards), Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, and Utah Jazz. Gugliotta played just 20 games for the Celtics that season before being dealt with Gary Payton and Michael Stewart with draft **** ets to the Atlanta Hawks for Antoine Walker. The NC State alum scored 1.3 points and 2.2 rebounds per game with the Celtics.
It is also the anniversary of the massive, four-team trade that sent Danny Fortson to the Warriors and Dana Barros to the Dallas Mavericks for Robert Pack, Hot Rod Williams, draft **** ets, and cash. Barros had been with the team for five seasons in a reserve role, while Fortson was a recent arrival, having only played 55 games with the team.

The tax man is coming for ETFs… eventually. This week's ETF Zoo digs into the recent action from the Treasury looking into newer ETF structures that include box spreads and 351 exchanges, what Goldman Sach's acquisition of NEOS says about the broader options income category, and why the struggling consumer matters less and less to markets. ETF.com hosts Dave Nadig, President and Director of Research, and Sumit Roy, Senior ETF ***** yst, are joined this week by Brent Sullivan, Editor of Tax Alpha Insider and Todd Sohn, Chief ETF Strategist at Baird Strategas.
You can also find this episode on our YouTube channel, as well as Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Goldman Sachs just dropped $2.3 billion on NEOS, its second major ETF acquisition after Innovator, vaulting the bank into the top ten issuers with roughly $130 billion on platform. The Zoo crew believes it's a straight-up bet on retiring boomers hungry for income and downside protection. But the real intrigue is under the hood, where NEOS's covered-call funds lean heavily on return-of-capital distributions (untaxed, tax-efficient income) via 1256 contracts, a structure that's genuinely different from rivals like JEPI/JEPQ. While they're great products, tune in to find out what concerns the crew had.
From there the conversation zooms out to the bigger income-obsession story eating the market. Options income ETFs are going parabolic even as the S&P grinds higher and 30-year Treasury yields sit near multi-decade highs. Todd Sohn's theory: these products are quietly stealing market share from boring old dividend ETFs, especially with younger investors looking to add something more dynamic to their portfolios. Meanwhile, there's something strange happening in the market. Consumer stocks have practically vanished from index influence, with tech (and AI subscriptions) soaking up the wallet share that used to go to staples and discretionary names. Equal-weight and small-/mid-cap stocks are having a surprise moment, potentially riding the AI wave's downstream productivity gains rather than getting crushed by it.
The back half got spicier on taxes: Brent Sullivan previewed a coming reckoning as Treasury scrutinizes aggressive structures, including 351 exchanges, box spreads, dividend-avoidance ETFs. When the cards are on the table, we'll find out who's been bluffing. He expects enforcement to start with the most public, most obviously aggressive cases, though a timeline is anyone's guess. The group also piled on a Bloomberg feature that used Cliff Asness as the poster child for tax-aware long/short strategies, finding a strange scapegoat in Asness and the criticism unnecessarily pointed. Things then close on a cautionary tale of a Market Wizards-famous manager's ETF that's down a brutal 96-97% year-to-date after leaning into short-dated QQQ options. Investors would do well to remember that in this corner of the ETF world, someone's always selling you something.

As summer continues to wind down, anticipation for football and basketball season heats up. When the 2026-27 NBA slate begins, Tar Heel Nation will have its eyes glued to Caleb Wilson.
The Chicago Bulls' fourth overall pick in this year's NBA Draft, Wilson quickly impressed amongst the pro ranks earlier this summer, setting a new record for most points in a Summer League debut. Part of a historic Draft class with fellow top-4 picks AJ Dybantsa (first overall), Darryn Peterson (second) and Cameron Boozer (third), Wilson will treat fans to a plethora of exciting matchups in his rookie season.
One of Wilson's first matchups you should be paying attention to is the Bulls' home opener on Saturday, October 24, when they'll be facing Dybantsa and the Washington Wizards.
Wilson's first regular season game will be Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m., when Chicago travels to face the Toronto Raptors. Dybantsa's rookie year begins that same day at 7 p.m., when Washington hosts the new-look Milwaukee Bucks.
Wilson played against the Wizards in Summer League, leading all scorers with 19 points in a 99-87 win, but Dybantsa sat out that game. Later in a postgame interview, Wilson said he'll play any chance he gets, as opposed to resting like his fellow Top-4 picks.

After years of battling, a longtime rival of the Golden State Warriors is hanging them up after a legendary 18-year career in the ****** ociation. Point guard Russell Westbrook recently announced he was retiring from the NBA after 18-years.
After getting drafted out of UCLA in 2008, Westbrook spent 11 years with the Oklahoma City Thunder, making eight appearances in the NBA All-Star Game along with being named the 2015-16 NBA MVP. Alongside Kevin Durant and James Harden, Westbrook, at only 23-years-old, helped lead the Thunder to the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. Westbrook also led the league in scoring twice, along with leading the league in ****** ists three different times.
Following his decorated run with the Thunder, Westbrook went on to play for the Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings.
During each of his stops, Westbrook always appeared to put on a show against the Warriors. Westbrook played the Warriors 56 times in the regular season in his career, recording a 30-26 record against Golden State. Westbrook averaged 20.3 points, 7.6 ****** ists and 7.1 rebounds in 56 games against the Warriors.
Westbrook and the Warriors only met once in the postseason, in the legendary 2016 Western Conference Finals. Westbrook averaged 26.7 points and 11.3 ****** ists in that seven-game series. During the series, Westbrook notched a 36-point triple-double with 11 rebounds and 11 ****** ists to give the Thunder a 3-1 lead over the 73-win Warriors. Westbrook notched eight triple-doubles against the Warriors in his career. Four with the Thunder, two with the Wizards, one with the Nuggets, and even one with the Kings last season.

The Brooklyn Nets have made most of the moves they're going to make over the course of the 2026 NBA offseason as they're hoping to have a better campaign in the 2026-27 season. Brooklyn has added some veterans to the roster, headlined by trading for Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle, but some are wondering what the rest of the rebuild looks like at this point.
"After going 20-62 last season (with a preseason over/under win total of 19.5), the Nets are tabbed to be one of the league's worst teams again. They're listed with the second-lowest wins over/under by FanDuel and BetMGM at 24.5," Brian Lewis of the New York Post wrote (h/t to NetsDaily) on the Nets on Tuesday. As Lewis alluded to, Brooklyn is once again expected to be one of the worst teams in the league despite adding Randle to the team.
"With eight rookies on the Nets' roster last season — including a record five first-round picks — they played those first-year pros a league-high 6,716 minutes," Lewis wrote when describing how much playing time the Nets' rookies saw last season. Lewis was essentially comparing Brooklyn's rebuild to those of the Sacramento Kings, Oklahoma City Thunder, Portland Trail Blazers, and Washington Wizards.
As of this writing, the Nets have 10 players that are 24 years old or younger with players like Egor Demin and Mikel Brown Jr. being the youngest players on the roster. For the Brooklyn fans wondering when the franchise is going to turn around and start competing for the playoffs, that will depend on which one of the young players is going to realize their potential along with when general manager Sean Marks decides to cash in the current draft stash to go after a star-level player.
The Nets didn't appear to be in the running for players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jaylen Brown this summer so it seems like the team will have to wait for the next star-level player to change teams to see if they're successful in luring them to Brooklyn. In the meantime, Lewis pointing out the amount of playing time the young players have seen thus far could be a precursor to at least one of them taking the next step sooner rather than later.

Many Duke alumni had impressive NBA performances last season, including Jalen Johnson (Hawks), Cooper Flagg (Mavericks) and Kon Knueppel (Hornets). However, no former Blue Devils experienced as much playoff success as Jared McCain, who dominated off the bench following a trade to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Another Duke alum who had an underrated season was Hornets guard Sion James, who played in all 82 of Charlotte's regular season games as a rookie second-round pick. Recently, the two joined forces on the same team during the PLYRS UNTD runs, which featured many current and former NBA players. In a video posted to social media, McCain was scoring with ease while also setting up James for a few easy looks around the rim. The two guards never played with one another at Duke, as James was with Tulane during McCain's lone season in Durham.
James and McCain's team also featured two previous top-10 picks, Frank Kaminsky and McCain's current Thunder teammate, Chet Holmgren. Some of their opponents included Trae Young (Wizards), Ty Jerome (Grizzlies) and Danny Wolf (Nets).

NBA 2K27, the most popular basketball video game, continues to reveal player ratings ahead of their September 4 release date. Thus far, many former Blue Devils have been recognized, like Kon Knueppel who was ranked as the second-best 3-point shooter and Kyrie Irving, who was ranked as the game's strongest ball-handler.
More Duke alumni were recognized again last week, as two former Blue Devils were named among the top-10 mid-range shooters. To begin with, Kyrie Irving was listed once more, tied for the second-highest spot and a 98 rating with former three-time MVP Nikola Jokic and Wizards guard Tre Johnson. Growing up in the spotlight doesn't always guarantee lifelong success, but for a select group of former child stars, early fame became the foundation for extraordinary wealth.
From billion-dollar beauty brands to cryptocurrency empires and sports franchises, these celebrities transformed childhood careers into multimillion-dollar — and in some cases billionaire — business empires.
Here's a look at some of the richest former child stars today.
Long before she became one of the world's biggest pop stars and entrepreneurs, Selena Gomez was winning over audiences on Barney & Friends before landing her breakout Disney Channel role on Wizards of Waverly Place.
Today, much of her fortune comes from Rare Beauty, the cosmetics brand she launched in 2020. While Bloomberg previously estimated her wealth at more than $1 billion, Forbes now values her net worth at around $700 million, making her one of the richest entertainers in Hollywood. Rare Beauty remains the largest contributor to her fortune, alongside earnings from music, acting, endorsements and Only Murders in the Building.

The Houston Rockets have had players donning a total of 52 different jersey numbers (and have one not part of any numerical series for Houston **** istant coach and general manager Carroll Dawson) since their founding at the start of the 1967-68 season, worn by just under 500 players in the course of Rockets history.
To honor all of the players who wore those numbers over the decades, Rockets Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who wore them since the founding of the team all those years ago right up to the present day.
With seven of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Rockets of all time to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover.
And for today's article, we will continue with the 10th of 14 who wore the No. 25, guard Austin Rivers. After ending his college career at Duke, Rivers was picked up with the 10th overall selection of the 2012 NBA Draft by the (then) New Orleans Hornets (now, Pelicans).
The Santa Monica, California native played the first 3 seasons of his pro career with New Orleans. He also played for the Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Wizards before he signed with the Houston Rockets in 2019. His stay with the team lasted until he was traded to the New York Knicks.

John Goodman's years-long health transformation is attracting fresh attention after actor David DeLuise shared an unexpected photograph from a grocery store encounter.
The casual selfie, posted August 6th, shows the 74-year-old Roseanne star smiling beside DeLuise in a supermarket aisle. Some commenters said they initially struggled to recognize Goodman, while others focused on seeing two familiar television actors together.
The photograph captures a much slimmer Goodman, but the change is far from new. He has spoken publicly for years about losing approximately 200 pounds after once approaching 400, describing the transformation as a gradual effort built around sobriety, portion control, changes to his diet and regular exercise.
Goodman has also resisted treating the weight loss as a finished project. He has described maintaining his health as an ongoing process, including periods when his exercise routine slipped and he had to recommit.
DeLuise shared the photograph after unexpectedly running into Goodman while shopping. The Wizards of Waverly Place actor called Goodman a "legend," while his post quickly filled with reactions to both the encounter and Goodman's appearance.

Shams Charania: Sources tell me that the Wizards and Anthony Davis have mutually decided to table potential contract extension talks and revisit it and wait until they're into the regular season for that and see where the team is at. And one source described it to me as essentially an ability for both sides to allow the first twenty games or so to marinate and allow both sides to get to a decision on whether there will be a contract extension or not. Anthony Davis is eligible for a deal for years, up to two hundred and seventy five million dollars, but there are unanswered questions for both sides.

The Kings nearly traded Domantas Sabonis to the Toronto Raptors at the deadline in February -- a move he would've welcomed, a source with knowledge of the situation said -- for a package that included RJ Barrett, but the Raptors were unable to get off the three-year, $84 million remaining on Jakob Poeltl's contract, which doomed the deal.

Meanwhile, Perry also is expecting Sabonis to play a big role in Sacramento's rebuild following a disappointing 22-60 record during the 2025-26 season, despite previous reports that the Kings were in trade talks with the Charlotte Hornets involving the three-time NBA All-Star center. "Come in and compete just like everybody else," Perry told reporters. "Obviously, he's an excellent player. He's done it for a while in this league. I've been in constant contact with him as well in the offseason. Just expect him to come in here healthy, first and foremost, and he's trending in that direction. "Obviously, he missed a lot of last year because he was not. He's always played hard, and so I expect him to do that. Provide some veteran presence for this team and really have a tremendous rebound year and help us build some winning habits here and start heading in the right direction." — 7/9/2026 NBC Sports Bay Area

Brian Windhorst: "The NBA was planning on having games in Doha this fall. I believe the Wizards and Nets were planning on going there, and possibly even the Cavs. The Cavs and Heat were looking at going to Abu Dhabi, and then going to Doha, but the Wizards and Nets were going to Doha. Those were, they never were announced, and a few days ago, the NBA decided to just move on from that obviously because of the situation in the Middle East."
