Well, there's not much to say about this lineup. David Peterson throws with his left hand. The Braves don't have Lane Thomas on hand anymore, so it's basically your standard lineup with Sean Murphy and Ha-Seong Kim bringing up the rear.
This is the same lineup the Braves used in what ended up being that 12-2 game against the Phillies. Given that Peterson probably won't last long given his inefficiency, the Braves may be hoping for a similar result.
I guess I'll talk about Ozzie Albies. He's hitting cleanup for the 21st time this season. His season is basically tanking. He started out with a near-.400 wOBA in April while running an average xwOBA, had a poor May, an okay-ish June, and then ran another huge xwOBA overperformance on a bad xwOBA in July. Since then, it's been absolutely grim. In August, he had a .275 wOBA and .283 xwOBA. In September, he's down to a .212 wOBA and .218 xwOBA. As has also been the case for a while, Albies is no longer terrorizing lefties. In his first seven seasons, he had five where he hit lefties super-well, and one of the ones where he didn't was a tiny-sample 2020 where he was hurt. In both 2024 and 2025, his xwOBA against lefties dwindled to an okay .325ish. This year? He's down to .282. He's only posted an xwOBA at or above .300 against lefties this season in April and July. In September so far, it's .171. There's not really that much time for Albies to change the script of his season, but this is a really disappointing follow-up to 2025 and it's going to be the third straight year where Albies turns in an underwhelming season.
Anyway, should we do batter versus pitcher while waiting for the Cubs to post their lineup? Sure, I guess. These guys are very familiar with Peterson, after all. Amazingly, neither Drake Baldwin nor Mauricio Dubon have ever faced Peterson, and Kim only has four PAs against him, but everyone else has somewhere between 12 and 30. Ronald Acuña Jr. and Matt Olson have destroyed Peterson in their careers, and Riley's been fine, but everyone else has struggled a bit. Add this all up, and you get a .318 wOBA and .347 xwOBA in 141 career head-to-head PAs.
As for the Cubs, well…

Give all the credit to Duke. They're able to get out of here with a W. Obviously, one of the things that we've really prided ourselves on over the last five years, going to year six, is more games are lost than won. Something that we try to get right from day one since we got here. And I'm not diminishing anything Duke did. I just think that we did enough things to cause us to fail. Obviously, turnover a little bit, but I think it was more the penalties and the mental errors that just caused us to self-implode a couple times on really all three phases. So that's all on me. I got to clean up the details, just simple things from the way we communicate, the way we execute in critical moments, some things that could have easily been avoided. And just a shame, I apologize.
Obviously to get a sell out here and to have a crowd the way we did, winning is addictive. For players, coaches, and fans, you get used to having success in those moments. And when it doesn't happen, you're upset, you're ***** , you're mad, you're angry. And I definitely fall into that category. My Saturday's always a lot better. I got two girls at home that love to have a fun time. And when you don't have success, it just sits with you for seven days. So the part that you got to learn is you'll learn more and more. The more you go through these moments, you just learn so much more in moments of adversity than you do in moments of success. So this is definitely an adverse moment that we got to take advantage of. I ask them to have big eyes and ears tomorrow. As coaches, we need to set the standard early on in the meetings to accept the things that we need to do better and hopefully put ourselves in a position to get back on track sooner than later.
So I don't know anything about injuries. I know TJ went out there at the end. We had a couple guys go out that came back, but he's the only one that I was told wasn't going to return to the game after he went out.

Hamburg entered their first home Bundesliga fixture of the season looking to respond to their 2-0 opening-day defeat away at Borussia Dortmund. Instead, the afternoon developed into one of the club's worst top-flight home performances in decades.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon didn't take too kindly to Boise State players dancing to "Shout."
The Ducks play the iconic song from the film "National Lampoon's Animal House" during the break between the third and fourth quarters of every home game at Autzen Stadium.
The video scoreboard shows the Nike commercial made in 2015 that features Oregon stars, including former quarterbacks Marcus Mariota and Joey Harrington, who recreate the film's toga party scene. The Autzen fans always sing and dance along, and sometimes the Ducks players join in on the tradition.
But on Saturday, when the No. 2 Ducks hosted Boise State in the season opener, the Broncos' players danced along to the song. At the time, the game was tied 24-24.
"When we seen that, it was like, `Hey, you can't do that in our home,'" Oregon quarterback Dante Moore said. "So we made sure that we go out here and capitalize and finish drives and put some points on the board."

For the third year in a row, Yahoo Sports is simulating a full NBA season in the latest entry in the NBA 2K franchise — NBA 2K27.
Last year's simulation proved to be shockingly accurate. Not only did NBA 2K26 predict the Knicks to win the NBA Finals and Jalen Brunson to be named NBA Finals MVP, it also nailed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's repeat bid for MVP, Victor Wembanyama's Defensive Player of the Year nod and Cooper Flagg's Rookie of the Year victory. All things considered, it was safe to say one of the best simulation video game experiences on the market walked the walk.

The Baltimore Ravens received an encouraging injury update Thursday as wide receiver Zay Flowers returned to practice for the first time in two weeks.
Flowers had not practiced since Baltimore's joint workouts with the Minnesota Vikings on Aug. 20 because of an undisclosed injury. The Ravens have consistently described the issue as minor, but the team exercised caution with its top wide receiver through the end of the preseason and the first week of regular-season preparation.
Flowers did not practice Wednesday, although he was seen running the length of the field while working off to the side. His return one day later represents another positive step toward being available when Baltimore opens the regular season against the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 13. The extent of Flowers' participation was not immediately known. Baltimore still has more than a week to increase his workload before issuing its first official injury report of the season.

DELPHOS — A local pool team with roots in the Delphos community returned home with placing second in the APA World 8-Ball Championship in Las Vegas.
Known as Rackless Behavior, the local team is hosted by the Delphos Recreation Center and is made up of two separate families who came together because of pool.
In order for the team to be able to partcipate in the large championship, they had to earn a spot in an end-of-season tournament, which then the winner of that event earns the spot in the World Pool Championship.
Rackless Behaviors won throughout the qualifying process and had the opportunity to compete against 833 teams from four countries.
The team battled through six days of competition, with some days lasting as long as 16 hours.

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick reportedly does not fully trust Luke Shaw off the ball. The Red Devils left-back was below par on Sunday despite a 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town at Old Trafford. Shaw had a nightmare and was at fault for Ipswich's opener, struggling to contain Abdul Fatawu. Carrick has made the need for another left-back clear to the Man United recruitment team, and they have to sign one before tomorrow's deadline.
Shaw admitted after the game that he should have done enough to prevent the opener, and the Red Devils cannot afford having only him as their option in such a crucial position. The 31-year-old needs quality competition and not just another cover. Carrick has other players who can cover at left-back in his squad, but Man United need to sign a player capable of improving their squad. They have been linked with Newcastle United's Lewis Hall all summer, but the Magpies have no interest in selling the Englishman.
The Red Devils have just a few hours left in the transfer window to sign a top left-back. It could make all the difference for them this season, and yesterday's result should not paper over the cracks.

Given all of his success in college basketball the past few years, it's easy to forget that, back in December of 2023, Jeremy Fears Jr. was shot in the leg back in his hometown of Joliet, Illinois. For those of us who have followed his career intently before and after the incident, it was obvious that he lost some of his leaping ability after the unfortunate situation occurred. However, it looks like those days are finally behind us and Fears has the full range of his athleticism back at his disposal.

Last month, Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham ignited a furious debate about whether or not transgender women have a place in women's sports. Since then, Cunningham has received a lot of pushback.
During Saturday night's game against the New York Liberty, the Barclays Center video board showed a message that seemed to be in direct opposition to Cunningham's stance. Now, one right-wing commentator has taken notice and he's not happy about WNBA teams deciding to "taunt" Cunningham.
During an interview for the ESPN profile that was published last month, Cunningham was asked about her political views, including the "MAGA Barbie" nickname that she has recently been given, and she openly shared her controversial stance on transgender athletes.
"I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I'm like, 'I never once said that,'" she told ESPN. "I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men."
Cunningham later doubled down on her comments, describing her views as "common sense."

BOSTON — In the first five months of his Red Sox career, Willson Contreras has made it clear he has a swing fit for Fenway Park. On Friday night, he proved his swing might also fit the Mass. Pike.
Contreras turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 lead with a mammoth three-run home run off Giants All-Star Logan Webb that easily cleared the Green Monster — and perhaps a couple of buildings behind it. Contreras' homer left his bat at 116 mph and had a final projected distance of 452 feet. It was both the hardest- and farthest-hit ball by a Red Sox batter in 2026.
"It was hit a ton," said interim manager Chad Tracy. "He hit it really good."
Trailing 1-0 after a Bryce Eldridge RBI single in the top of the inning, the Red Sox got to Webb with two outs in the third. With Nick Sogard on first, Wilyer Abreu smoked a single to extend the inning. In a 1-1 count, Webb left a low changeup over the plate and Contreras demolished it. He admired it for a few seconds, demonstratively flipped his bat while throwing his hands up, pounded his chest and screamed into the dugout where his teammates marveled at his blast.
Some of them remained in awe hours later.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Wyatt Langford had a tying RBI double in the 10th inning, then scored the winning run on third baseman Denzer Guzman's throwing error as the Texas Rangers beat the Los Angeles Angels 2-1 on Friday night.
Guzman had opened the top of the 10th with an RBI double to put the Angels ahead in the eighth MLB game this season that was scoreless going into extra innings.
With two outs in the bottom of the 10th after an intentional walk, Guzman made a nice stop on a grounder by Ezequiel Duran. But his wide throw to second base trying to get an inning-ending forceout allowed Langford to race home.
Tyler Alexander (4-2) pitched the 10th and struck out two for the win.
Ben Joyce (0-1) gave up two hits and two runs, neither earned, in 2/3 of an inning.

The 2026 season-opener for two Alabama high school football teams was suddenly brought to a halt on Thursday evening. Benjamin Russell and Jemison met at Louis Crews Stadium, the home of Alabama A&M, in Huntsville.
Not long after the game got underway, a breaker at the stadium blew out, causing the stadium lights and scoreboard to malfunction. With no lights and inclement weather on the way, officials soon decided to suspend the game.
Jemison head coach Rico Jackson told Thomas Ashworth of AL.com that the two teams will try and resume play during week 10 later this fall.

Keenan Allen is headed to Indianapolis.
The Colts struck a one-year, $8.32 million deal with the veteran wide receiver on Monday night, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Allen has spent nearly his entire career with the Chargers organization, which first selected him in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He was on a one-year, $3.02 million deal with the franchise last season, and became a free agent this summer.
The 34-year-old had 777 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 81 catches last season with the Chargers. He's earned six Pro Bowl nods throughout his career, and has six 1,000-yard seasons to his name. He earned Comeback Player of the Year honors in 2017, too, after missing nearly all of the 2016 season with a torn ACL.
Now that he's found a home for the 2026 campaign, Allen will get to reunite with longtime Chargers **** istant Shane Steichen in Indianapolis. Steichen, who is entering his fourth season as the Colts' head coach, worked his way up through the Chargers' coaching staff and was their offensive coordinator for two seasons with Allen as one of their primary targets.

In his memoir of life in the tech industry, "Chaos Monkeys," Antonio Garcia Martinez wrote that it's not the rats who first abandon a sinking ship but rather the crew members who know how to swim.
By that measure, Brooks Koepka made like Michael Phelps, presciently jumping overboard early from LIV Golf and stroking his way to safe harbor. Now that the Good Ship Yasir seems doomed for the sea floor — the bullshit that long acted as ballast having shifted to expose the dead weight of washed-up hangers-on — those who remained are left eyeing leaky life rafts.
Just two members of LIV's roster matter, no matter how much its CEO, Scott O'Neil, blathered about the importance of Dean Burmester on the South African stop. They are Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm. The former because every carnival needs a barker, the latter because leagues need credible competitors. While DeChambeau remains welded to LIV, Rahm's tone has been lukewarm and several sources in his orbit are convinced he'll exit soon. He has alternatives, but they're not painless and require accepting conditions that the prideful Spaniard might balk at.
Rahm's obvious first choice for life after LIV would be returning to compete on the PGA Tour. He lives in the U.S., and it's the most lucrative, competitively demanding and commercially relevant circuit. But no one around the Tour thinks Rahm will be offered the terms Koepka accepted, and many believe he'd be asked to pay stiffer financial penalties, accept restricted playing privileges and perhaps even apologize (for what, and to whom, is unclear). How would that sit with a man who went to war with the DP World Tour in Europe over comparatively modest fines?
Koepka chose to leave LIV with time remaining on his contract. Rahm would be leaving by necessity, knowing he won't see all of the cash promised and that the league, if it survives, would do so only because someone wanted to leverage its losses to dodge taxes elsewhere in their investment portfolio. His former peers haven't forgotten that he went to LIV months after the Framework Agreement was announced, willingly becoming leverage for the Saudis, and that he later said (with amusing self-regard) that he felt his leaving would be the catalyst to uniting the game. Rahm thought he could take the bag and return as a hero. No one did more to ensure there'd be no deal between the Tour and the Saudis (with the possible exception of Patrick Cantlay in the boardroom). He chose his side and the guys he left behind were determined to make him live with the decision. Plenty remain so, and are disinclined to roll out the welcome mat too quickly.

Aaron Donald initially worked out at the Rams team facility on Aug. 5 to evaluate how he felt. He did so again Sunday.
According to the NFL personnel notice, the defensive tackle worked out in Woodland Hills.
The three-time Defensive Player of the Year began considering a comeback after the Rams traded for two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett. He has not made a decision yet, and the Rams aren't giving him any deadlines.
"I'm hopeful that it will be sooner than later, but I also want to respect when he does feel like that clarity will come," coach Sean McVay said Saturday. "I don't want to say too much or put some sort of invisible deadline on something that doesn't exist in my mind for him."
Donald has not played in the NFL since 2023.

Like many fans of the Buffalo Bills, I try not to overreact when it comes to the team's performance during the preseason. I have a hard time remembering anything from previous preseason games outside of Christian Wade, AJ McCarron, and a friend of mine melting down on Facebook about Case Keenum's performance in the 2022. But on Saturday's game there was a special moment that I will remember choose to remember for all of the right reasons.
Late in the fourth quarter on Saturday, Frank Gore Jr. followed his offensive linemen into the end zone for a touchdown, extending the Bills lead to 28-7. Rather than celebrate himself, Gore found offensive lineman Bruno Fina and handed him the football. Fina spiked the football and the offense celebrated emphatically together. If you have not put 2-and-2 together yet, both Gore and Fina have fathers that played for the Bills. I was actually able to catch up with Bruno Fina prior to the start of camp with Joe Miller from Overreaction Buffalo during last month's Mafia-Con event.
For Gore it was just one season with the Bills in 2019, where he helped the Bills reach the playoffs while rushing for 599 yards. Fina spent 10 of his 11 NFL seasons in Buffalo, starting 131 games after being selected in the first round out of Arizona. The former first rounder also appeared in two Super Bowls while playing for the Bills during the 19912 and 1993 seasons.
I can understand that a moment like this may go unnoticed by many fans on Saturday, but for me I am going to remember it as one of the more memorable moments in all of my years watching Bills preseason football.
