For the third year in a row, Yahoo Sports is simulating a full NBA season in the latest entry in the NBA 2K franchise — NBA 2K27.
Last year's simulation proved to be shockingly accurate. Not only did NBA 2K26 predict the Knicks to win the NBA Finals and Jalen Brunson to be named NBA Finals MVP, it also nailed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's repeat bid for MVP, Victor Wembanyama's Defensive Player of the Year nod and Cooper Flagg's Rookie of the Year victory. It even had the Wizards as the league's worst team, albeit with half of the wins the real-life version managed to muster.
All things considered, it was safe to say one of the best simulation video game experiences on the market walked the walk.
Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
For those new to this series, here are the rules: We select one team, at random (Miami Heat) and run through a MyEras season with CPU trade offers turned off, with G-League, scouting and rotational decisions set to automatic. The simulation is halted to record the NBA Cup winner, at the end of the regular season and before the NBA Finals.

New Delhi: As the Indian team awaits Jasprit **** rah's fitness reports ahead of the T20I series against Afghanistan next week and the subsequent Asian Games, the national selectors have identified Prince Yadav as a probable backup.

TOI understands that **** rah, Nitish **** ar Reddy, Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana are due to undergo match simulation tests over the course of this week before the Indian team **** embles in Delhi on Sept 10.

"The BCCI medical team at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) had shared a report with selectors last week, where it was mentioned that these four players were clinically fit but had to be **** sed in practice matches. The CoE has lined up the matches from Sept 4-9. The CoE is confident that the players should be ready for the Afghanistan series," a BCCI source said.

Prince made his international debut in the ODI series against Afghanistan at home in June. He too suffered a hamstring injury in the second T20I in Zimbabwe on July 25.

It is learnt that he has been declared fit by the CoE and is available for selection. Prince has been doing well in T20Is since this year's IPL and the selectors see him as a serious prospect going forward.
The selectors and the team management want **** rah to get some game time in a first-class match before the Test series in New Zealand. **** rah hasn't played a red-ball match since the second Test against South Africa in Guwahati last November. He has only played T20 cricket before injuring his knee after two ODIs in England in July.

"As it is, he has to skip Test matches because of his fitness. One has to be clear that his knee can take the load of a first-class game before he takes the field in a Test in New Zealand. It needs to be seen if he plays a Ranji Trophy game or a first-class game for India 'A' in New Zealand. He is likely to be rested for the T20I series against West Indies at home in October. But the 'A' games in New Zealand overlap with the ODI series there," a source said.

The Southeastern Conference has been a perennial college football powerhouse for the last few decades, but lately, there has been a lull in the league's dominance, having now gone three straight seasons without a team being crowned with a national ****** le.
Despite the recent championship doldrums, the SEC remains a powerhouse on the collegiate gridiron with nine member schools cracking the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll. Having expanded its intraconference schedule to nine games, the league slate is a veritable gauntlet that provides a superlative level of competition that can only be matched by the Big Ten.
Ahead of the 2026 campaign, The Athletic's Dan Santaromita and Austin Mock put together their SEC odds, win totals and projections for this fall based on the latter's simulation model. The results have the Georgia Bulldogs leading the way when it comes to expected wins (9.6), as well as their chances for a College Football Playoff appearance (65.1%) and a conference championship (28.3%).
The Florida Gators landed in the lower third of the pack, with an expected win total of 6.5 along with an 11% chance of making their first CFP appearance and a 2.2% chance of winning the SEC ****** le. That ranks the Orange and Blue at No. 11, between the South Carolina Gamecocks and Missouri Tigers.
Take a look at the projections for the conference from Mock's model below.

With Zandvoort now in the rear-view mirror, Formula 1 is ready to head to Monza for the Italian Grand Prix, which is set to provide another crucial turning point in the championship battle. Below is the full schedule and session times for the weekend at the Temple of Speed.
After winning the last two races in succession, there will be plenty of attention on Lando Norris to see whether he can complete a hat-trick in Italy and firmly reignite his championship challenge. The McLaren driver arrives at Monza carrying significant momentum, with another victory potentially allowing him to make further inroads in the standings.
There will also be huge interest surrounding home favourite and championship leader Kimi Antonelli, who will race in front of the Italian crowd at Monza with the added pressure of leading the **** le fight. His weekend, however, will be complicated by the grid penalty hanging over him, meaning the Mercedes driver will have an additional obstacle to overcome as he looks to deliver a strong result on home soil.
Toto Wolff explained that Mercedes' decision to make the engine change in Italy was driven entirely by performance considerations, with the team's simulations identifying Monza as the most favourable circuit at which to absorb the resulting grid penalty.

Real Madrid left the RCDE Stadium with three points after a dramatic 2-1 victory over Espanyol, with Jude Bellingham and Carlos Espi getting the goals.
It was a win that marked Jose Mourinho's first official victory as manager since his return to the club, and there were signs of promise.
One incident in particular that caused controversy involved Vinicius Junior and has continued long after the final whistle.
Espanyol used their official social media account to take a thinly disguised swipe at the Brazilian after believing he should have received a second yellow card for simulation.
"After how many dives do you get a second yellow? Asking for a friend," Espanyol posted.

Fleet safety directors spend years building compliance programs that ****** ody ever asks them to defend out loud, and when someone finally does, it is a plaintiff's attorney with a court reporter in the room. Trucksafe Consulting is selling the rehearsal.
The DOT compliance consultancy will hold its fifth annual Fleet Compliance Bootcamp Sept. 16-17, 2026, at the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis-Downtown-Union Station, and this year's program adds a half-day Live Deposition Simulation and Rule 30(b)(6) Preparation Seminar on Sept. 18.
Trucking deposition preparation usually begins after a lawsuit is filed, which is also the point at which the record stops being fixable. Attendees will watch a realistic deposition of a fleet safety director in a serious highway-accident case. Plaintiff and defense attorneys will demonstrate the questioning strategies, document issues and credibility challenges they use in live cases. A panel discussion afterward will examine how testimony and company records affect liability exposure and settlement value.
"Today, a compliance failure rarely stays confined to an enforcement proceeding," said Brandon Wiseman, president and founder of Trucksafe Consulting. "After a serious accident, attorneys will scrutinize years of driver files, maintenance records, safety data, policies, emails and management decisions."
The exposure is retroactive, and it reaches documents ****** ody wrote expecting an audience.

For a football-starved audience, early August cannot come soon enough. Between the NFL, college and fantasy football, there's no shortage of reasons to be excited about what is undeniably America's favorite sport. For gamers, the excitement is two-fold as August's arrival also brings the latest Madden release — and with it the annual Yahoo Sports simulation.
If you're new to the series, we simulate an entire NFL season in "Madden" — Madden NFL 27 in this case — and break down the winners, losers, surprises and disappointments from the virtual year that was. The ground rules for the simulation remain the same: one random team is selected (Chargers) and we start at the regular season using "simple" settings in Franchise Mode.
Some years, the simulation is surprisingly accurate. Other years — like last year — it's jarringly off, so take all of this with a grain of salt.
With all of that said, let's see how Madden predicts the 2026 season.

Oscar Piastri's Friday at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix was an uphill battle from the start. Forced to sit out Free Practice 1 to fulfill McLaren's mandatory rookie running requirements, the Australian had just one hour to get up to speed on a highly inconsistent, freshly resurfaced track.
Despite finishing FP2 down in eighth place—nearly 1.4 seconds off the leading pace set by Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton—Piastri remains highly optimistic about McLaren's potential this weekend.
Jumping into the MCL40 for FP2, Piastri inherited a tricky situation from reigning Formula 2 champion Leonardo Fornaroli, who had driven the car during the opening hour.

The Hungaroring proved incredibly difficult to tame, characterized by severe gusts of wind and a bizarrely inconsistent track surface where new patches of tarmac were already wearing away. Adding to the frustration, Piastri's initial qualifying simulation was completely derailed when Alpine's Franco Colapinto spun backwards into the final corner barriers, triggering a red flag.

NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) provides GPUs and the CUDA-Q platform for quantum simulation, hybrid quantum-classical workloads and the integration of quantum processors with accelerated computing systems.. It is also one of the Best Quantum Computing Stocks to buy and Hold Forever.
Recently, on July 11, Morgan Stanley reiterated NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) as its top semiconductor pick and also maintained a Buy rating with a $288 price target. The rating and the research note came after the firm met with the company's top management.
The firm noted that from the meeting it extracted that Nvidia's growth is increasingly coming from beyond traditional AI hyperscalers. In addition, management expressed confidence that revenue growth can keep accelerating even as quarterly sales near $100 billion. Morgan Stanley said demand is diversifying across AI labs, hyperscalers, enterprise customers, neoclouds, and sovereign AI projects. That broader mix reduces the risk of Nvidia's results depending too heavily on a small group of big-spending cloud companies.
Moreover, networking and CPUs are becoming meaningful growth drivers within hyperscale customers as well. The firm also pointed to sovereign AI, industrial applications, and enterprise adoption as areas likely to grow in importance as countries and companies build out their own AI infrastructure.
NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) is a fabless semiconductor and AI computing company that designs GPUs, AI accelerators, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and system-on-a-chip units. With EA Sports' predicted pick Spain reaching the FIFA World Cup final, fans believe history is set to repeat itself.
Since the 2010 FIFA World Cup, EA Sports have run simulations on their FIFA (now FC) game franchise to make a prediction of who would win the tournament.
In 2010, they predicted Spain to win the tournament, followed by Germany in 2014, France in 2018, and Argentina in 2022 – and they were proven right each time.
After Spain confirmed their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final with a 2-0 win over France, EA FC's X account shared a post they made before the tournament where they predicted La Roja to win it all.
Given EA Sports' history of correctly predicting the winner of the FIFA World Cup for the last four instalments, many believe this is proof that Spain are going to win the tournament.

Nothing about the World Cup knockout stage has been easy for defending champions Argentina. Each round, Lionel Messi has been looking at the likely end to his World Cup career, and yet, Argentina has found a way to win — often with controversy.
Saturday's 3-1 quarterfinal win over Switzerland in extra time was no exception. But while the Swiss were furious with the VAR review and referee Joao Pinheiro's decision to send off Breel Embolo, it was the correct call.
The U.S. men's national team's opening match against Paraguay already sent precedent for that kind of VAR review.
New for this World Cup, VAR was given the ability to check for mistaken identity on yellow cards. That review was applied in June when Paraguay's Miguel Almirón drew a yellow card on Tim Ream despite not being touched by the USMNT defender. VAR looked at the incident and instead had the referee issue a yellow to Almirón for simulation.
The incident with Embolo — who was already on a yellow card — was awfully similar. Embolo went to ground before there was any contact with Argentina's Leandro Paredes. It was a clear simulation, and Embolo should've had the situational awareness to both know the VAR rules on a yellow card and simply not take a dive.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni insisted Wednesday's heavyweight World Cup semi-final against England was "just a football game" after his side beat Switzerland 3-1 in the last eight.
Alexis Mac Allister put the defending champions ahead early in Kansas City on Saturday but Dan Ndoye scored a deserved equaliser midway through the second half.
Disaster struck minutes later for Switzerland when Breel Embolo was shown a second yellow card for simulation, reducing them to 10 men.
Julian Alvarez broke Swiss hearts in the 112th minute before substitute Lautaro Martinez added a last-gasp third.
Argentina now turn their attention to the semi-final in Atlanta, which promises to be a tense encounter.

KANSAS CITY, MO — Switzerland coach Murat Yakin ripped the referee for the decision to give Breel Embolo a second yellow card for simulation after a VAR check, forcing the Swiss to play the rest of the World Cup quarterfinal against Argentina with 10 men.
The Swiss striker left the field sobbing after he was shown the red card in the 72nd minute. The game went to extra time, and Argentina won 3-1.
"In my opinion, it was a harmless foul. If it even was a foul," Yakin said through a translator. "This rule destroyed our game today and it was incredibly painful. To be eliminated that way hurt a lot."
Argentina's Leandro Paredes was initially given a yellow card for a tackle from behind. But VAR official Guillermo Pacheco informed referee João Pinheiro that he believed the yellow card should have gone to Embolo for simulation instead.
Replays clearly showed Embolo went to the ground without being touched by Paredes. Embolo actually kicked at Paredes as he was falling.

In this electric, late-night episode of The Cooligans After Dark, Christian Polanco and Alexis Guerreros fire up the microphones live from Miami to unpack a chaotic day of World Cup quarterfinal action. The guys kick off with Argentina’s high-stakes 3-1 victory over Switzerland, a match far tighter than the final scoreline suggests. They dive headfirst into the massive refereeing controversy surrounding Breel Embolo's game-altering second yellow card for simulation. Spurred by the new "mistaken identity" VAR protocol, the hosts engage in a fierce debate over whether video review belongs anywhere near yellow cards, while praising a clutch, world-class brace from Julián Álvarez that saved an exhausted, human-looking Lionel Messi against a disciplined Swiss squad anchored by a legendary Granit Xhaka.
The theater only intensifies as the guys shift focus to the watch party tour's very first extra-time thriller: England's dramatic 2-1 triumph over Norway. Alexis and Christian tackle a double dose of tournament controversy, starting with Erling Haaland’s disallowed go-ahead goal that was nullified by a highly questionable, soft defensive flop. They then dissect Jude Bellingham’s crucial equalizer, which was clouded by allegations that a Norwegian goal kick struck an overhead skycam cable—a claim the players explicitly pointed out but FIFA's advanced ball sensors conveniently denied.
To close out the night, the hosts look down the bracket to preview the ***** anic semifinal matchups ahead. Christian and Alexis trade tactical blueprints and drop official score predictions for the highly anticipated Spain vs. France heavyweight bout. Finally, they map out the psychological warfare and massive historical narratives set to collide when the Three Lions meet Argentina with a spot in the World Cup Final on the line.

Switzerland's well-earned reward for acting is ejection from game and elimination from World Cup originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The tears were real. Switzerland striker Breel Embolo no longer was acting by then. He covered his face in horror, aware everything he’d dreamed about at the start of the day, at the start of the 2026 World Cup, had been demolished in an instant.
First, referee Joao Pedro Silva Pinheiro held a yellow card toward the Kansas City sky; then he showed considerable dexterity by pulling a red card from his pocket and signaling to Embolo he no longer would be involved in Saturday's quarterfinal game against Argentina.
Embolo’s offense: simulation.

Julian Alvarez said "you have to know how to suffer" after Argentina came through yet another gruelling World Cup test to beat 10-man Switzerland 3-1 in the quarter-finals following extra-time on Saturday.
The Atletico Madrid forward scored Argentina's decisive second goal in the 112th minute in Kansas City to finally end the resistance of the European team.
The Swiss mounted a robust rearguard action after Breel Embolo was dismissed in the second half -- shown a second yellow card for simulation.
But Alvarez eventually broke their hearts with a stunning curling effort into the top corner and Lautaro Martinez added a last-gasp third.
The win follows a gruelling 3-2 victory against Cape Verde in extra-time in the last 32 and an astonishing late comeback to beat Egypt for another 3-2 win.

Switzerland's Breel Embolo became the first player to be sent off as a result of a new law for mistaken identity at this summer's World Cup.
Embolo, booked in the first half, was sent off after 72 minutes of his country's quarter-final defeat by Argentina following a second yellow card for simulation.
The caution was initially handed to Argentina's Leandro Paredes for what at first appeared a clumsy challenge, until the video ***** istant referee (VAR) intervened to send referee Joao Pinheiro to the monitor.
On review, the official deemed Embolo to have dived.
The Switzerland forward was distraught to be shown a red card with his side having levelled against the defending world champions just five minutes earlier.

Title holders Argentina have made it to the World Cup semi-finals with a 3-1 win after extra time against Switzerland on Saturday.
Alexis Mac Allister gave Argentina an early lead in the 10th minute, but Dan Ndoye equalized for Switzerland in the 67th.
The Swiss team, however, were in trouble again when Breel Embolo was sent off in the 72nd. Leandro Paredes was initially penalized for a foul on Embolo, but after video review, the decision was overturned.

The Swiss team resisted to take the match to extra time, with goalkeeper Gregor Kobel making crucial saves to keep their hopes alive.

Argentina defeated 10-man Switzerland in extra time after a wonderful Julian Álvarez strike booked their semi-final spot to set up a tantalising tie against England in the final four of the World Cup.
Argentina started fast and took an early lead from a simple corner routine, with Lionel Messi swinging it into Alexis Mac Allister who steered his header home in the first half.
Dan Ndoye and Ricardo Rodriguez responded in the second half with some lovely link up play before the former tucked the ball past Emiliano Martinez in the Argentine goal from a tight angle on the left to equalize.
However, mere minutes later Switzerland would be reduced to ten after a mistaken identity VAR check led to Breel Embolo being booked for simulation. Switzerland played out the remaining 20 plus minutes before heading into extra time.
In extra time, a moment of Álvarez magic put Argentina ahead before substitute Lautaro Martinez scored deep into extra time to seal the victory for the World Cup holders and ensure their **** le defence continued.

Argentina needed a late winner again on Saturday night. And Julián Álvarez provided a golazo.
Álvarez’s incredible strike from outside the penalty box in the 112th minute put Argentina up a goal in its 3-1 extra-time win over 10-man Switzerland. It was Argentina’s second extra-time win in three knockout-round games in this World Cup and the defending World Cup champions will face England in the semifinals on Wednesday.
Just watch the goal seemingly come from out of nowhere to beat Switzerland goalkeeper Gregor Kobel at the far post.
Álvarez’s goal came after Argentina spent the final 20-plus minutes of the second half and all of extra time with a man advantage after Breel Embolo’s controversial red card for simulation. But Switzerland’s defense had been absolute fantastic and denied Argentina time and time again when it had tried to work the ball inside the penalty area.
Of course, a 10-man defense in a low block can only stretch so far. You can tell that hardly anyone expected Alvarez to let loose from that position.
