Generating $1,000 a month in dividends is a simple process but it usually requires a substantial capital outlay. The Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF (NYSEMKT: SCHD) is perhaps the best dividend ETF for accomplishing this. Not only does it offer a much-above-average yield, but it's also backed by a portfolio of durable, high-quality companies.
That's exactly what you want in your portfolio, so let's run through the path for how to get there.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
The Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF tracks the Dow Jones U.S. Dividend 100 Index. It starts with a universe of U.S. equities that have paid dividends for at least 10 consecutive years. From there, it examines the stock's dividend growth rate, yield, and several fundamental metrics, including return on equity (ROE) and cash flow-to-debt ratio. The 100 stocks with the best combination of these factors make the cut for the portfolio.
It's the combination of dividend yield and dividend quality that makes this fund so effective. The screens act as cross-checks on each other, so investors can get the best of both worlds. Choosing stocks based solely on yield can leave investors vulnerable to yield traps or potential dividend cuts. The quality screen here helps steer clear of that and gives people a sustainable high yield along with the quality portfolio.

Feeling wealthy in retirement is often just that — a feeling. Having an active social life, a solid purpose and enough cash in the bank to never worry about monthly bills might be all you need to describe yourself as a "rich" retiree.
Feelings aside, what do the cold, hard numbers show? Most Americans agree you need at least $2.2 million (1) to be considered wealthy in America. But they might be surprised to see that you actually need considerably more than that to land in the top 10% of U.S. retirees.
Jeff Bezos backs a platform that lets anyone invest in rental homes for as little as $100 — 6 ways to build wealth like a landlord without actually being one
A single line on your car insurance policy could be inflating your premium by up to 30% — here's what to change

PARIS (AP) — The Dakar Rally in January will start in Portugal and finish in Morocco after being moved from Saudi Arabia because of the Middle East conflict.
Organizers announced the new route on Friday. They canceled the race in Saudi last weekend but reaffirmed it will return to the kingdom in 2028.
The Dakar, the world's biggest off-road race, returns to Africa for the first time in 20 years.
It will run from Jan. 9-23. The Algarve will hold the prologue and first stage and Morocco will hold the other 11 stages, going as south as outside Dakhla with a return north to finish in Marrakech.
Organizers said the route was 7,824 kilometers with 4,341 of those special stages, which was close to recent editions. Each special will range from 350 to 500 kilometers.

ORCHARD PARK - One of the most fascinating aspects of the Buffalo Bills' 5-1 start is how efficient Josh Allen and the offense have been, and given the terrible play of the defense, it's exactly what has been needed.
The Bills lead the NFL in points per game at 32.8, and since the defense has allowed at least 29 points in five of the games, every point was necessary, and that will probably be the case Sunday at Highmark Stadium when the Bills host the Baltimore Ravens.
But here's what's crazy: The Bills have scored all these points despite the fact that they have run just 359 plays, tied for the second-fewest in the NFL. Yes, some of that has to do with playing only six games while others have played seven, but consider this: While the Bills average 59.8 offensive snaps, the Chicago Bears average 72.1, and the Los Angeles Rams average 68.2.
"I just think it's efficiency. Like, I go back to Week 1 when we had the ball at our two-yard line, and then I think three plays and we scored," said center Connor McGovern, recalling a series against the Texans late in the first half when the Bills actually went 96 yards to take a 24-14 lead, one of nine TD drives this season that have been achieved in six plays or less. "We're able to just get up there, calm, cool, if we get that first first down we're just rolling with that."
Of course, part of the low offensive snap count has to do with the Bills' defense not being able to get off the field and the opposition has averaged 32 minutes of time of possession. That's a key reason why the Bills are in hyper speed mode so often.

Could the Washington Commanders get star left tackle Laremy Tunsil back this season? A recent social media post from Tunsil gave Washington fans a glimmer of hope that one of the league's best offensive linemen could return before the end of the season.
Tunsil, who signed a two-year extension in the offseason, once again became the NFL's highest-paid offensive lineman, tore his triceps during a training camp practice on Aug. 8. It was a devastating blow for Tunsil personally and for the Commanders. Most believed Tunsil would miss most, if not all, of the upcoming 2026 regular season.
At 1-4-1, Washington is coming off its bye week and hosts the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night. Despite a rough start, the Commanders remain firmly in the NFC East mix. Could a few Washington wins push Tunsil to return sooner than anticipated?
First, here's the social media post that got everyone talking this week.
It's been nearly three months since Tunsil's triceps surgery. The injury usually keeps players out for 4-6 months, with offensive linemen often on the higher end because of the strenuous nature of the position. With Tunsil's social media post, head coach Dan Quinn was asked about his star left tackle.

Lewis Hamilton says he is unlike any driver Formula 1 has seen before and reaffirmed a determination to keep racing into his mid-forties.
The seven-time world champion recently said he wanted to continue in the sport to fulfil a dream of racing in Africa, having campaigned for a Grand Prix there for many years.
F1 has signed a 10-year deal with the central-east African country of Rwanda starting in the early 2030s which will be a first race on the continent since 1993.
Hamilton is 41 and will be at least 45 when that race takes place, but he told a news conference before this weekend's Mexico Grand Prix that he should be considered a special case.
The Briton said F1 had "never had anyone like me in the 70 years" of the sport and he felt like he was "built differently".

The Buffalo Bills have the highest-scoring offense in the NFL.
They also have one of its worst defenses.
It's an unusual combination for a team sitting at 5-1 and atop the AFC East.
Josh Allen and the offense have scored 197 points through six games, averaging a league-best 32.8 points per game. But the Bills have allowed 171 points, an average of 28.5 that ranks 30th among the NFL's 32 teams.
The difference is even more ******* ounced in total defense. Buffalo is allowing 386.8 yards per game, the second-most in the league.

Braves predicted to sign $85M ex-Cubs Gold Glove finalist with power bat after career-best season originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Atlanta Braves won the NL East last season and nearly reached 100 wins, which was a great accomplishment. However, the beginning of the season was plagued by injuries and a suspension.
The Braves signed Jurickson Profar two offseasons ago, but the move has been nothing but detrimental. In fact, he has missed 243 games due to suspensions, including a year-long suspension in 2026.
"Atlanta Braves designated hitter Jurickson Profar is facing a 162-game suspension after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug for the second time in the last year, sources told ESPN on Tuesday. Profar, 33, is the sixth player to receive a 162-game ban for PED use since Major League Baseball increased the penalty for two-time offenders to a full season in 2014. He will forfeit the entirety of his $15 million salary," ESPN's Jeff Passan wrote.
Heading into the offseason, one of the biggest questions for Atlanta will be how it addresses left field.

New Zealand arrive at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday with little to play for beyond their pride, as the fourth T20I against India begins with the series already out of reach. The hosts will be hoping to take the last two games and salvage something from a difficult few weeks.
India sealed the series with three convincing chases, and each one left the home bowlers searching for answers. They first reached targets of 226 and 181 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, then overhauled 199 in just 13.2 overs in Wellington, the most one-sided of the lot.
The visitors are still without Ishan Kishan, who has missed the last two matches because of a low-grade right adductor strain. According to the BCCI's latest update, he has not yet regained full match fitness, so his availability for Auckland remains in doubt.
New Zealand have their own selection issues to manage. Matt Henry has moved out of the T20I group to link up with the ODI squad, while Lockie Ferguson missed the Wellington game and is expected to be back for the final two matches of the series.
The Black Caps cannot change the result of the series any more, but wins in the remaining fixtures would at least restore some dignity. Ferguson's likely return should add pace and bounce to an attack that has been underwhelming, to say the least.

Manchester United. More a high-volume content farm than a football club these days.
Michael Carrick's starring role in what has become one of the nation's favourite soap operas has been extended for at least another week, with the 45-year-old set to be in charge for Saturday's visit to Chelsea.
Good news - you'd think - for Carrick. But even better news for Amazon's All or Nothing camera crews, who have been given "unprecedented" access to document the behind-the-scenes goings-on at Old Trafford this season.
United fans will presumably be relieved when the football resumes on Saturday, if only to break up the constant stream of opinion for 90 minutes.
But while the wall-to-wall reporting of one of the world's biggest football clubs is hardly new, the unrelenting coverage from former players is a growing phenomenon.

Patriots vs. Dolphins bold predictions for AFC East clash in NFL Week 8 appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New England Patriots will be a rested and motivated team when they take the field in South Florida to take on the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots lost a hard-fought game against the Chicago Bears last Thursday night, but the defeat was a competitive effort that demonstrated they could play on the road against a team with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations.
The ****** ignment this week doesn't compare. The Dolphins lack the kind of talent on either side of the ball to put up a 60-minute fight against QB Drake Maye and a motivated Patriots team. Miami earned its first victory of the season in their Week 7 game against the New York Jets, but they benefitted greatly from an inefficient and sloppy game from the Jets.
It is unlikely that the Patriots will come at them in a similar manner. New England has played four consecutive solid games, and three of them were victories. When they took down the Buffalo Bills on the road in Week 4, it demonstrated that Mike Vrabel's team was back on track and was ready to make a run at the AFC East ****** le once again.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young isn't playing at 100 percent. But that, based off the reactions from head coach Dave Canales and Young himself, doesn't seem to be too great of a concern—at least for now.
Young's knee issue, which he sustained back in the Week 3 loss to the Cleveland Browns, has kept his name on the injury report for the last handful of games. The effects of that problem seemed most obvious on Thursday night, throughout the Panthers' 27-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
With his offensive line failing to keep the pocket clean time and time again, Young—as he usually would—opted not to use his legs to extend plays. He was pressured on a career-high 22 dropbacks, and attempted zero scrambles.
Canales was asked if he thinks Young has been hampered by the injury.
"Maybe," he replied. "I would say that he certainly doesn't look like he's got that quick make-you-miss kind of deal. But he was able to create some **** e for himself.

EJ Gibson was given two options with three seconds left in the game. Catch or run.
In the dying seconds of Ensworth football's game against Montgomery Bell Academy on Oct. 29, junior quarterback Isaiah Hasselbeck located junior tight end Champ Banks to pull within a point of the lead.
Going for the win on a 2-point conversion, Gibson gave his teammates a simple answer.
"Trust me, Give me the ball and I'm going to knock it in," the senior running back said.
The game winning conversion was the cherry on top of 200 rushing yard performance as Ensworth (5-5, 3-2 Division II-AAA East) stunned Montgomery Bell Academy (8-2, 3-2 Division II-AAA East) in a 15-14 victory.

The game winning conversion was the cherry on top of 200 rushing yard performance as Ensworth (5-5, 3-2 Division II-AAA East) stunned Montgomery Bell Academy (8-2, 3-2 Division II-AAA East) in a 15-14 victory.

Bayern Munich and Erling Haaland is a partnership that has almost happened three times.
Is a fourth attempt on the radar? Not according to Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen:
Jan-Christian Dreesen on Erling Haaland's name being linked to FC Bayern, after Manchester City were found guilty of charges: "We have the best striker in the world in Harry Kane, and an attacking line that has no equal in Europe. So, from our perspective, the question of signing Haaland doesn't arise at all."
When asked if Bayern could even afford a player like Haaland at all, Dreesen replied: "We've proven that we can afford it. We can sign Premier League players. We've shown that with Kane, we've shown it with Díaz, and we've shown it with Olise." – but he says that Bayern have a wonderful team that they are very happy with, so they have no need for Erling Haaland.
Kane appears to be on the verge of—at least—a two-year extension. If that happens, it would remove any chance of the Bavarians taking a gander at Haaland should Manchester City get sanctioned into the abyss.

The Arizona Cardinals have made one trade already. As the trade deadline approaches, many believe they could make at least one other deal.
Outside linebacker Josh Sweat has been the subject of rumors since the offseason. Those rumors are heating up, although it is no more than people speculating fit.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler is hearing that rivals see the Cardinals moving Sweat. One source considers the Dallas Cowboys, whom the Cardinals play this weekend, a good fit.
Fowler gives a Sweat trade about 40% odds and notes the Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears as teams to watch.
With the Bears acquiring defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee ******* ans, they likely aren't a possibility now. It seems unlikely the Cardinals would send their best edge rusher to a division rival like the 49ers, so the Cowboys make the most sense.

Nuggets' fatal flaw that will doom 2027 NBA championship chances appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Denver Nuggets have started the season off with just two wins in four contests, with both of those victories coming against the New Orleans Pelicans. Their latest victory, which came on Wednesday, was, at the very least, convincing, unlike their first win against the Pelicans which required them to come back from 23 down.
Injury problems are already giving the Nuggets trouble. Cam Johnson had to exit Denver's first game of the season due to an ankle injury, making life difficult for a team that's already missing sharpshooting forward Spencer Jones, whom they re-signed this past offseason.
There are already quite a few red flags that should worry Nuggets fans about their team through the early goings of the season. Perhaps the team rectifies it as the season moves forward, but some flaws may be too difficult to overcome as they seek out to compete for another NBA championship.

WATERBURY - Holy Cross High football senior star wide receiver Dae'Sean Graves will need to wait at least one more week to claim his second state record of the season.
Graves caught five passes for 113 yards, including a 46-yard touchdown, in Holy Cross' 56-8 win over WCA on Thursday night at Ray Snyder Sr. Field. The Crusaders improved to 6-1 with their sixth straight win, while the Spartans fell to 1-6.
Graves' touchdown added to his state record. He has 52 touchdown receptions for his career. The UConn commit tied and broke Southington great Alex Jamele's career record for touchdown receptions last week in a 52-13 win at Crosby.
Graves needs five more catches at Woodland on Friday, Nov. 6 (6:30 p.m.) to tie East Catholic great Joey Montalvo's career receptions record of 226. Six catches will give Graves the state record. He didn't play in the second half of Thursday's game.
Graves will need several more games to break Montalvo's career receiving-yards record of 3,871. He is 529 yards away from tying the mark.

Ford has now announced the cars, the colors, the concert, the cable channel and the charity fund for its Veterans Day Classic at Daytona. What it hasn't announced, at least in the material it has published so far, is how long the race runs or how a winner gets picked. That gap is the story, and it's why the lineup tells you more than the poster does.
The event is set for Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Daytona International Speedway, three days after the Cup Series finale at Homestead (here's how that November calendar stacks up). Ford is running it in collaboration with NASCAR, Blue Star Families, IMSA and HSR, according to Ford's own announcement. Twelve Ford Racing drivers will split into six teams, one for each branch of the U.S. military, all in Mustang Dark Horse R race cars.
Think about what that means. In a normal NASCAR weekend, Ford's pitch to its fans is simple: beat Chevrolet and Toyota. Here there is **** ody to beat. Every driver, every car and every logo on the grid is Ford, so the manufacturer has to build the stakes from scratch. Its answer is the military branch as team identity, and Ford says the teams are racing for bragging rights.
That is a smart device and a fragile one. A one-make race can't borrow rivalry from the paddock. It has to earn it in two hours of television, which is why the details Ford hasn't filled in matter more than usual.
Ford's lineup pairs the drivers like this: Army gets Joey Hand and Brad Keselowski, the Marine Corps gets Ryan Blaney and Ben Hobson, the Navy gets Logan Sargeant and Ryan Preece, the Air Force gets Frankie Muniz and Austin Cindric, the **** e Force gets Noah Gragson and Layne Riggs, and the Coast Guard gets Joey Logano and Ty Majeski.

AUBURN — A sudden addition to Auburn basketball's staff appears unlikely, at least for the time being, as head coach Steven Pearl addressed the firing of general manager Brian Kloman following the Tigers' 80-68 win in an exhibition against Samford on Thursday, Oct. 29, at Neville Arena.
Auburn's coaching staff is taking a by-committee approach to general manager duties, Pearl said. He did not provide a timeline for an eventual general manager hire, nor did he expressly state the program would look for someone to fill that role.
"As a staff, (we will) just kind of go through some of the things that Brian (Kloman) was doing and try and divvy up some of those responsibilities, and collectively as a group, work through those things together," Pearl said.
Brett Whiteside, listed as Auburn's executive senior **** ociate athletics director, was name-dropped by Pearl as someone who is expected to help the program amid its general manager change. According to his staff biography, Whiteside "plays a key role in shaping the student-athlete experience through revenue-sharing operations, NIL strategy, education, and compliance."
The circumstance arises after Auburn fired Kloman on Monday, in the aftermath of international signee Mantas Rubstavicius voluntarily dismissing his eligibility lawsuit against the NCAA.

We have hit the last week of the Tennessee high school football regular season. And like recent years, the TSSAA has split high school games to Thursday and Friday. So about half the state will play their Week 11 games on Thursday. The rest will play on Friday.
It's a chance to give teams better officials each day. But it also gives us a chance to see the TSSAA football playoff picture become clearer before the brackets are released Friday, Oct. 30.
Note: Games with asterisks are region games. Most games this week will be region games. And almost all games play at least a small part in determining playoff order.
Here are the TSSAA football scores for Week 11.
Bradley Central 35, Bearden 21 (Thu) *

Timberwolves' Rudy Gobert speaks up on his reluctance to throw it down appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
After Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch called out Rudy Gobert for his finesse plays during a combined 0-for-13 stretch, the starting center questioned his finishes as well. Amid a two-game skid, the Timberwolves lost Anthony Edwards to a knee injury that will keep him out for at least two months. As Minnesota will look to find success without their All-Star forward, many anticipate Gobert to step up offensively.
Instead, he finished with one point, four rebounds, and one steal in the Timberwolves' 119-114 loss to the Golden State Warriors. In addressing Finch's recent comments about finishing loud in the paint, Gobert agreed with the notion of dunking the ball more often, per Sports Illustrated Andrew Dukowitz.
"Sometimes I tell myself, 'Why didn't I dunk that, too?' I guess it depends," Gobert said. "I guess, most importantly, is to react, to be decisive. To be strong and to be decisive. If I'm going to dunk it, go dunk it. If they foul me and call it, it is how it is. But I gotta be more decisive and more balanced, more poised."

Oct. 29—EAST GRAND FORKS — Chay Boespflug wanted to try something new.
The East Grand Forks senior played football until eighth grade but stepped away during his freshman and sophomore years, focusing on soccer instead.
Ahead of his junior year at East Grand Forks, though, Boespflug considered a return to the gridiron.
"I was like, 'Why not try kicking?'" Boespflug said.
Boespflug joined the football team last season and took on kicking duties. This offseason, he began taking more reps on both offense and defense during practice.

I reached out to the folks at Black Shoe Diaries to talk about this weekend's game between their Nittany Lions and our Purdue Boilermakers. They were kind enough to respond with some informative answers to my questions. Make sure to go check them out.
Penn State has not won a Big Ten game yet this year. The schedule to start the year has turned out to be a lot tougher than most people probably thought going in. Given the turnover at the top, what was expected of Penn State by fans coming into this season?
I predicted a 9-3 season. Some others on our site were at least mentioning the word playoff in the offseason. Personally, I thought Penn State would have enough experience with Matt Campbell's system considering that there would be so much continuity with so many players making the move from Iowa State. A lot of that optimism was tied to the schedule. Unlike 2025 where Penn State jumped right into the deep end with a showdown against Oregon in conference play, this year seemed like it would give some runway for the Lions to work things out before a Whiteout matchup against USC. That seemed to be the plan until halftime of the Wisconsin game. From that 17-0 lead against the Badgers, the Lions have struggled mightily.
Three of the four Big Ten losses have come by 8 or fewer points. Is this a situation where Penn State may be 0-4 but they could very easily be 3-1? I guess the crux of my question is, is Penn State better than their record reflects?
I think it should be at least 1-3. The Wisconsin loss was egregious. Penn State led from the start. They could never quite put away the Badgers, had to settle for field goals, committed a brutal turnover, and then allowed a couple of long conversions in the loss. This team isn't as talented as last year's Penn State team, but there are some similarities. They've had second half leads in three of the four losses, just as last year's Penn State team lost fourth quarter/overtime leads to Oregon, Indiana, Iowa, and Northwestern.
