The Under-20 Women's World Cup will take place in Poland from 5 to 27 September. We are still waiting to see whether UEFA will boycott the tournament as part of the ongoing dispute between UEFA and FIFA. The BBC has confirmed that the French Football Federation (FFF) will take part. There has been no indication from The FA, although the England squad is preparing for the tournament with a friendly away to Portugal Under-20s this week.
As a reminder, the tournament is not part of the FIFA international calendar. That means there is no compulsory release of players, so clubs can prevent their players from attending. Emma Hayes recently hinted at the issue in relation to the United States youth national teams.
"I consider the Under-20 event the biggest platform for young players to play in," Hayes said in an exclusive interview with ESPN. "I keep thinking about so many of our players that, whether they miss the Under-17, how critical it is for them to come through the Under-20s."
France manager Philippe Joly made a similar point. "I've already picked my squad in my head, I've already decided in my head, but there may be a slight difference between what I want to do and what the clubs will allow me to do. First, we will draw up a provisional squad of 55 players and talk to their clubs to see if they would be willing to let their players take part. It's a crucial stage for knowing whether or not we'll have all our greatest ****** ets at our disposal."

Dobbs, who recently joined the Detroit Lions, publicly criticized his former team Tuesday while discussing his unusual offseason. New England reportedly hoped to trade the veteran backup before eventually releasing him two weeks after the start of free agency. By then, several teams that could have pursued Dobbs already had filled their backup quarterback openings. That left the 31-year-old waiting for another opportunity and without a team during organized activities.
"It was a weird offseason because it was my first time not having OTAs and everything, and that was just by the nature of my situation in New England, with the timing," Dobbs told reporters. "That was very frustrating, the way they handled that."

The chance for McCarthy to lead his hometown team brought the first-year Pittsburgh Steelers coach to tears when he was hired in January. The image last April of Heidenreich walking onto the draft stage in full Naval dress uniform outside Acrisure Stadium — just a few miles from the Mount Lebanon neighborhood where he grew up — felt like something out of a movie.
Their respective homecomings have provided plenty of "fairy tale" narratives during an eventful offseason for the typically low-key Steelers. And while there will be a little bit of "hey, is this really happening?" on Thursday night when they walk onto the field for the first time as the Steelers host Green Bay in the preseason opener, they're both aware of the reality check that awaits under the lights.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Actor and comedian Tiffany Haddish avoided additional jail time Tuesday when she pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor alcohol-related driving charge that stemmed from her 2022 arrest in Georgia after someone called 911 about a driver asleep at the wheel at a traffic light.
Other charges were dropped. After entering the plea by video, Haddish was placed on 12 months' probation and told to avoid drugs and alcohol and complete a substance abuse evaluation. She was credited for the brief time she spent in jail following her arrest.
Haddish's films include the comedy "Girls Trip," "Night School," "Like a Boss" and "The Kitchen." She wrote the New York Times bestseller "The Last Black Unicorn," which earned a Grammy nomination for a subsequent audiobook she narrated. In 2018, she won an Emmy for her appearance on "Saturday Night Live" and a Grammy in 2021 for her special "Black Mitzvah."
At around 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 14, 2022, someone called 911 to report seeing a person who appeared to be asleep in the driver's seat of a white Ford Explorer with their foot on the brake in Peachtree City, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) south of Atlanta, according to a court filing. An officer spotted an SUV that matched the description given by the caller and stopped Haddish as she pulled into a neighborhood, according to a police report.
Haddish's lawyers in May asked a judge to dismiss the case, arguing that waiting more than four years for the case to be resolved had caused personal and professional difficulties and violated her right to a speedy trial. Fayette County State Court Judge Jason Thompson rejected her arguments.

The Brooklyn Nets have made most of the moves they're going to make over the course of the 2026 NBA offseason as they're hoping to have a better campaign in the 2026-27 season. Brooklyn has added some veterans to the roster, headlined by trading for Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle, but some are wondering what the rest of the rebuild looks like at this point.
"After going 20-62 last season (with a preseason over/under win total of 19.5), the Nets are tabbed to be one of the league's worst teams again. They're listed with the second-lowest wins over/under by FanDuel and BetMGM at 24.5," Brian Lewis of the New York Post wrote (h/t to NetsDaily) on the Nets on Tuesday. As Lewis alluded to, Brooklyn is once again expected to be one of the worst teams in the league despite adding Randle to the team.
"With eight rookies on the Nets' roster last season — including a record five first-round picks — they played those first-year pros a league-high 6,716 minutes," Lewis wrote when describing how much playing time the Nets' rookies saw last season. Lewis was essentially comparing Brooklyn's rebuild to those of the Sacramento Kings, Oklahoma City Thunder, Portland Trail Blazers, and Washington Wizards.
As of this writing, the Nets have 10 players that are 24 years old or younger with players like Egor Demin and Mikel Brown Jr. being the youngest players on the roster. For the Brooklyn fans wondering when the franchise is going to turn around and start competing for the playoffs, that will depend on which one of the young players is going to realize their potential along with when general manager Sean Marks decides to cash in the current draft stash to go after a star-level player.
The Nets didn't appear to be in the running for players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jaylen Brown this summer so it seems like the team will have to wait for the next star-level player to change teams to see if they're successful in luring them to Brooklyn. In the meantime, Lewis pointing out the amount of playing time the young players have seen thus far could be a precursor to at least one of them taking the next step sooner rather than later.

The Athletics dropped the second game of their three-game series against the Rays on Tuesday night, losing in embarrassing fashion to Tampa Bay 12-4 on a warm night in Sacramento. The A's will now have their backs up against the wall tomorrow as they'll hope to avoid the sweep in front of the home crowd. And with the Angels' win tonight, they need a win to avoid the cellar of the American League. How did it come to this?
Tampa didn't wait to get going against A's starter Mason Barnett. Just two batters into the game the Rays were up 2-0 thanks to a two-run blast off the bat of Rays slugger Junior Caminero, his 35th of the year which puts him in a tie for the league lead.
Tampa would add on another in the third inning thanks to two walks and a wild pitch from Barnett, then three more in the fourth off back-to-back home runs, another two-run blast and a solo home run. After four innings the Rays had already tagged Barnett for six runs (five earned). That would be it for Barnett in this one, making way for lefty Brady Basso to start the fifth inning.

Not a great outing from Barnett and that's back-to-back duds from the righty. There's no guarantee he's **** ured another start the next time through the rotation but with the lack of other options it's likely he gets another go, which would come next against the team that traded him, the Kansas City Royals. Not a bad matchup to let the young pitcher go prove something.

Islam Makhachev has a chance to add to his already impressive resume when he defends his welterweight **** le for the first time at UFC 330 after already setting the record for the most **** le defenses in UFC lightweight history.
As if defending belts in two divisions isn't enough, Makhachev can also break Anderson Silva's record for the most consecutive wins in UFC history with both tied at 16 currently. For everything that Makhachev has achieved, it's easy to understand why he's already entering the conversation as possibly the greatest of all-time but UFC CEO Dana White isn't ready to hand him that crown just yet.
With Makhachev just days away from facing Ian Machado Garry in the UFC 330 main event, White prefers waiting at least until that fight ends before he starts stacking anymore accolades on Makhachev's resume.
"I don't think about that stuff until the fight happens," White said during the Contender Series post-fight press conference. "When we see his performance on Saturday, let's see how it plays out, but obviously breaking [Anderson Silva's] record, you keep grinding, you keep fighting, you put your head down and just keep f*cking knocking guys down left and right, by the time you say 'you know what? After a joint practice with the Tennessee ******* ans there's still no clarity for the San Francisco 49ers on their left guard battle according to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Shanahan on Tuesday spoke with reporters after the 49ers wrapped up their joint practice with the ******* ans and indicated that nothing changed in the race for the fifth and final starting spot on San Francisco's offensive line. Entering practice it was veteran Robert Jones and second-year player Connor Colby who were the presumed frontrunners at the position with rookie Carver Willis potentially making his way into the mix. That was where Shanahan said things still stood after practice.
"I think it's too early to say," Shanahan said. "There definitely is a battle there. It's open for anybody. Those guys would probably be the lead at it. Love to get Carver in that, too. Him missing a week or whatever it was with his concussion made him out of it a little bit, but he's been out two practices in a row. It's still early. We want to see those guys in the games, too, but it's definitely a battle for us to see who gets that spot."
There's a distinct difference between an open battle with multiple good players and one hasn't been able to separate themselves, and an open battle with multiple players who aren't good enough to step into the vacancy. Colby and Jones have had some issues with the starting group, and now Shanahan is potentially resting the team's hopes on a fifth-round draft pick who is changing positions after playing offensive tackle in college.
San Francisco won't need to nail down a definite starter until Week 1, but the fact they're inside of a month to go until their regular season opener and the coaching staff is still awaiting a player to put a stranglehold on the starting LG job is not a great sign entering their preseason opener.

The Oscar winner said during a conversation at the Locarno Film Festival that she often participates in Q&As because she is eager to talk about the craft of acting. "One thing that's incredibly limiting, and frustrating, is when I'm the only person of color or the only woman on stage, and that happens quite a lot for women and for people of color. Former Oklahoma Sooners star Kyler Murray has been named the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, according to multiple reports. Murray beat out J.J. McCarthy in a QB battle this offseason, and he'll be the starter for Kevin O'Connell and the Vikes to open the year.
Murray spent the first seven years of his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals, after the franchise chose him first overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. However, his time in the desert came to an end, and he'll enter his first season in Minnesota in 2026.
Murray was one of the most decorated players in the history of Texas high school football at Allen High School, and he originally played for Texas A&M as a freshman in 2015. After just one season with the Aggies, Murray transferred to OU, waiting his turn in 2016 and 2017 before bursting onto the scene in 2018.
That year, Murray helped Oklahoma win the Big 12 and make the College Football Playoff. He won the Heisman Trophy, OU's second in a row, and eschewed a promising baseball career to become the top NFL draft pick.
Murray's amazing athleticism and dual-threat abilities made him a dynamic weapon in Norman. His speed, quickness, and acceleration are just about unmatched at the quarterback position, and he was a nightmare for opposing defenses.

The Euro finds itself a little bit soft on Monday as we head into the New York session. I'll be watching the 1.1520 area for potential support. We'll have to wait and see. A little bit of a bounce would be compelling, for me at least, to start thinking about the upside, but if we break down below there, then we could see a deeper correction.
As usual, we'll have to watch the interest rate situation in the United States vis-à-vis Europe, and at this point, it looks very much like a market that is trying to turn things around from a longer-term standpoint, but one could also make an argument for a little bit of a rising wedge. We'll just have to wait and see.
The British pound has found itself a little bit soft as well, not horribly so, as we are still very much in consolidation near the 1.35 level. If we were to break down below the 1.3475 level, then we could start to think about challenging that explosive candlestick after the non-farm payroll announcement on Friday.
Nonetheless, this is a market in which the pound has fared better against the U.S. dollar than many other currencies over the last couple of years, due to the fact that the interest rates in the U.K. are elevated. So, if I get an option between buying Euros or pounds today on a bounce, for myself, I may actually favor the pound.
The U.S. dollar is rising a bit against the Canadian dollar after forming a bit of a double bottom. This is a market that has been rounding from a huge move to the upside. We are currently at the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level, followed by the 50% retracement level, trying to find some type of floor. Ultimately, this is a market that is an interest rate differential play as well. There are some traders out there that are off to the races when it comes to the idea of the U.S. employment situation dropping, but one errant report really doesn't make a trend.

The prospect acquired by the Tigers in the Casey Mize trade will wait a little longer to make his debut with the West Michigan Whitecaps, Detroit's High-A affiliate.
Kash Mayfield, a left-hander, was placed on the injured list by the Whitecaps on Tuesday. He hasn't pitched since July 24 with High-A Fort Wayne, a San Diego Padres affiliate. He has been battling a hamstring injury.
Mayfield was acquired by the Tigers just before the Aug. 3 trade deadline in a deal that sent Mize, a free agent-to-be, to the Padres. Mayfield, 21, came to the Tigers as did fellow lefty Jackson Wolf, 27, who is with Triple-A Toledo.
Mayfield was a first-round pick by the Padres, No. 25 overall, in the 2024 draft.
He spent the entire season with Fort Wayne before the trade, making 15 starts. The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder was 3-1 with a 3.54 ERA, with 62 strikeouts and 22 walks in 53⅓ innings.

Walmart looks like it is going to be a little bit negative at the open. That's somewhat mixed action, but really at this point in time, it's worth noting that the last couple of months have been all about consolidation. There are concerns about the employment situation in the United States, which, ironically, in the past has typically benefited Walmart, being a cheaper place to buy things. So, we'll have to wait and see whether or not that comes to fruition.
Ultimately, though, we are just simply consolidating between $107.50 on the bottom and the $115 region on the top. We're basically in the middle of it, so a little bit of back and forth probably makes sense.
The market for Target looks like it is going to be ever so slightly negative in pre-market trading, but ultimately, this is a market that's been consolidating after a gap higher. We are heading towards earnings and the ex-dividend date. So, the ex-dividend date is on the 12th; the earnings are on the 19th. That obviously will have an influence on the price of the stock, but it has been very strong as of late and is getting better. So, it is still a very bullish market.
Costco looks like it is going to be hanging right underneath where it closed during the session on Friday. And this is a lot like Walmart in the sense that it's been consolidating in a region here, between, in this case, $900 on the bottom and $980 on the top. We're basically right around the $945 level, so we're right around the middle of it. So, it's more of the same.
That being said, if employment becomes a problem in the United States, Costco becomes an interesting play on that as it is a wholesaler, but Walmart also often will be used for lower-income consumers and, more importantly, higher-income consumers dropping down, at least historically speaking. So, these are stocks I'm watching on a day-to-day basis, if for no other reason than to get a read on what Wall Street thinks about the US consumer.

Referring to Sylvester Stallone, he added, "I was just like, wait a minute, a man can look like a gorilla, and then Stallone was at his height. It was like the birth of muscles."
For Shepard, his fascination with muscles eventually became connected to his childhood. "I grew up in a house with a violent stepdad beating everyone up," he revealed. He explained that seeing Schwarzenegger's powerful physique made him feel that being strong could protect him. "So, when I saw Conan, I was like, 'Oh, if I look like that, I got no problems for the rest of my life.' So that just, that was like, 'Yeah, … If I was Conan, I got no problems," Shepard said.

Jets cornerback Qwan'tez Stiggers was transported in an ambulance to a local hospital after losing consciousness during a joint practice with the Buccaneers.
Jets coach Aaron Glenn said after practice that Stiggers was conscious and talking on the field. Stiggers also received an IV before being taken by stretcher to the waiting ambulance.
The Jets have not updated Stiggers' condition.
Glenn said Stiggers "came to the sideline, and he just passed out."
"For the most part, he was good," Glenn said, via Rich Cimini of ESPN.

Mike Tirico has been a lead golf announcer for nearly 30 years, but he probably wouldn't have taken the job if he'd known about the critics waiting.
Tirico appeared on the Fore Play Podcast this week hosted by his NBC colleague Kevin Kisner, Frankie Borrelli, and founders Samuel "Riggs" Bozoian and Trent Ryan. During the interview, Riggs asked Tirico about being taken aback by how critical golf fans were of announcers and network coverage when he began calling the sport.
"What I didn't realize when I got into golf, that even before social media and before podcasts and before people spoke up more about their personal feelings, golf viewers were not shy in expressing what they thought," Tirico said. "And I was not a 'golf guy.' Brent Musburger was doing ABC's golf, and I did two events on the Senior Tour, and my boss from ESPN moved to run ABC Sports, and then they asked me to come over in '97, join Curtis [Strange] and kind of reset their team.
"If I knew how much criticism was waiting being part of that, I might not have taken the job…I'm glad it did because it gave me a chance to be a lead network broadcaster at something and change the trajectory of my career."
Dan Patrick recently told the story of being in the running to succeed Musburger on ABC's golf coverage, a role that eventually went to Tirico. And when ABC/ESPN picked Tirico to lead their golf coverage, they were picking someone who loved watching the sport, but had little experience announcing it.

Justin Rose is proud that, having turned 46 less than two weeks ago, he enters the FedEx Cup playoffs at No. 24 and bucking the PGA Tour trend of pros in their 40s — especially the late 40s — trying to hang on to whatever status that they can manage until becoming eligible at age 50.
Rose won earlier this year at the Farmers Insurance and nearly won the Masters in April and shows little sign of losing anything off his fastball.
"I'm not really interested in sticking around and just making up the numbers and waiting for the Champions Tour or whatever that might be," he said on Tuesday in a press conference ahead of the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis. "For me, it's about just really pushing myself to stay elite, to stay playing at the top end of the game, and to kind of keep giving myself and putting myself in with experiences that will create lifetime memories.
"That's only going to happen by playing in the biggest tournaments and at the highest level. That's my motivation, and if I'm not achieving that, I would sort of really question why I'm making the sacrifice away from family and friends and all the other great things that I have going on in my life."

With Jaguars coach Liam Coen announcing that he won't play his starters in the first preseason game every one of these practice reps becomes that much more valuable. This is the Saints' first chance to pit their best against their opponent's best. And with that in mind, here are four matchups we'll be watching closely:
Hunter has secured his place on top of Jacksonville's depth chart at cornerback, and he's looking to build off of a rookie year full of encouraging moments but short on game tape after he was shut down with a knee injury after Week 7. Similarly, Saints fans had to wait to see Tyson until the Saints opened up training camp because they kept him on ice throughout the spring to rest an injured hamstring. Now both young pros are playing well. Seeing who comes out ahead should be one of Thursday's biggest draws.
Harrison started the last three seasons at right tackle, and he has looked like the Jags' best blocker regardless of position. But now he's lining up on the left side (where he played in college at Oklahoma) while projected starter Cole Van Lanen deals with an injury. This is a great test for Young against one of the league's better young tackles. The Saints are eager to see Young take the next step after breaking out with ten sacks last season. He's talked a lot of trash and taken on a more vocal role as a leader during practice. Winning his battles with Harrison would be tremendous.
Walker has caught some heat for not being as effective a pass rusher as the guy drafted right behind him (Aidan Hutchinson), but he's consistently won his matchups with the Jaguars' right tackles at training camp and is exactly the type of high-end athlete who gave Fuaga trouble last season. Fuaga did have to fight through a couple of different injuries last season so proving he can stand up to one of the Jags' top edge rushers would inspire real confidence. Josh Hines-Allen is one to watch, too, but it sounds like he's mainly rushing off the right side of the formation (and against Saints left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr.).
Washington broke out last season with 65 catches for 954 yards and six touchdowns (including thee playoffs), quickly ****** erting himself as one of Trevor Lawrence's favorite targets. He split time in the slot with Jakobi Meyers but was targeted more often when he did line up inside, leading Jacksonville in yards (458) and touchdowns (3) by healthy margins. He'll be the one to watch when the Saints roll out their nickel personnel with safety Jonas Sanker manning the slot. He's had his hands full with Chris Olave and Jordyn Tyson rotating into the slot throughout training camp, but getting to work against another team's talent will show us if he's ready to hold it down when the season starts.

The **** ans plan to play their starters in Thursday's preseason opener against the 49ers, but they won't have many first-stringers lined up against them.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said at a press conference on Tuesday that the team will be sitting most of its starters.
"There won't be many starters playing," Shanahan said. "We'll see, with injuries today and stuff — and that doesn't mean none. But we've got to balance that out. We haven't told the players yet, so we'll wait until we do that with them this afternoon."
Shanahan's decision was likely impacted by Tuesday's joint practice between the teams, but the 49ers have several players that would likely be sitting due to injury even if they went with a different plan. Wide receiver Mike Evans suited up for practice on Tuesday for the first time in over a week while running back Christian McCaffrey and defensive end Nick Bosa headlined the list of players who remained out.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Colts quarterback Daniel Jones wasn't always able to trust his receivers to get open in Tuesday's joint practice against New England.
Even with the Patriots' top two cornerbacks, Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis III, standing on the sidelines, there were often times when Jones had to hold the ball and wait for receivers to get open, particularly in the red zone.
But he always has Tyler Warren there to save the day.
When Jones needed a completion Tuesday, he often looked for the second-year tight end, a bruising, physical force who gave the Patriots' secondary trouble all day long. Indianapolis and New England finished Tuesday's joint practice by putting the No. 1 and No. 2 offenses for each team into a critical end-of-game situation — 1:12 on the clock, an entire field to drive, in need of a touchdown.
Jones beat the blitz by hitting Warren up the seam on his first throw, then picked up a big chunk by finding Warren coming free over the middle and launched a ball deep for Warren in contested coverage. Warren went up, beat the safety and pulled the ball down at the 5-yard line.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Actor and comedian Tiffany Haddish avoided additional jail time Tuesday when she pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor alcohol-related driving charge that stemmed from her 2022 arrest in Georgia after someone called 911 about a driver asleep at the wheel at a traffic light.
Other charges were dropped. After entering the plea by video, Haddish was placed on 12 months' probation and told to avoid drugs and alcohol and complete a substance abuse evaluation. She was credited for the brief time she spent in jail following her arrest.
Haddish's films include the comedy "Girls Trip," "Night School," "Like a Boss" and "The Kitchen." She wrote the New York Times best seller "The Last Black Unicorn," which earned a Grammy nomination. In 2018, Haddish won an Emmy for her appearance on "Saturday Night Live" and a Grammy in 2021 for her special "Black Mitzvah."
At around 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 14, 2022, someone called 911 to report seeing a person who appeared to be asleep in the driver's seat of a white Ford Explorer with their foot on the brake in Peachtree City, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) south of Atlanta, according to a court filing. An officer spotted an SUV that matched the description given by the caller and stopped Haddish as she pulled into a neighborhood, according to a police report.
Haddish's lawyers in May asked a judge to dismiss the case, arguing that waiting more than four years for the case to be resolved had caused personal and professional difficulties and violated her right to a speedy trial. Fayette County State Court Judge Jason Thompson rejected her arguments.
