Bayern Munich's ongoing quest to offload João Palhinha- as well as Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza- reportedly got a boost via interest from Aston Villa. The Villans, who Bayern beat 2-1 in a recent friendly, have lost star midfielders Amadou Onana to an anterior cruciate ligament rupture and Youri Tielemans to Manchester United. Despite the recent addition of the impressive João Gomes, they need more personnel and Palhinha is a concrete target of theirs.
That last tidbit of news is something Damián Vidagany, Aston Villa's sporting director, confirmed to Bild reporter Nico Linner.
"We need a midfielder because Amadou Onana will be out for the entire season, and João Palhinha is a very good player who would fit our plans," Vidagany stated (as captured by iMiaSanMia). "We are in talks, but there's currently no agreement. If anything does happen, it will always be on the basis of the big respect we have for FC Bayern. Our clubs are friends, and our relationship with Max Eberl, Christoph Freund and all the other people in charge is excellent. That is why I cannot and do not want to comment on any further details."
Of course, the problem is immediately apparent. Aston Villa wish to obtain a one year stopgap until Onana returns from his unfortunate injury, while Bayern wish to offload Palhinha permanently. How the two clubs reconcile that issue remains to be seen.
Perhaps the Bavarians will be willing to acquiesce and settle for a loan deal after all. The issue with Palhinha is that the club likely amortized the €51 million transfer fee and is still paying it to this day. If any potential loan deal can cover this year's amortization as well as the player's wages, perhaps the Bavarians would be willing to accept such a deal.

Serie A Napoli face a roadblock in their attempt to sign ******* nal forward Gabriel Jesus this summer.
According to today's edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport via Calcio Napoli 24, Napoli's interest in acquiring the services of ******* nal man Gabriel Jesus on a loan deal ahead of the new season cannot proceed due to the Brazilian's contract tenure with the Premier League champions.
The Partenopei have entered the market to search for a striker following Romelu Lukaku's decision to leave the club. Jesus has been eyed by sporting director Giovanni Manna as the potential successor to the Belgian, but they must consider the external factors that will determine a transfer.
Jesus has only one year left on his current contract with ******* nal, and therefore, he cannot leave on a season-long loan spell elsewhere. While he will be available to speak for a free transfer with any club in January, Napoli cannot wait that long to materialise his signing.
Another problem is Jesus' salary at ******* nal, where he earns €9 million net per season. Napoli cannot afford this figure right now, and will be required to speak to the player directly to lower it to agree on personal terms before they approach the Gunners for a possible transfer.

Mourinho continues to face the same struggles that plague every Real Madrid manager. How to find a balance with limited influence in squad construction. Mourinho has received most of what he asked for but as the opening game of the season nears, it is what he did not get that gets magnified and scrutinised. The coach seemingly wanted an entirely new back 4 and has brought in 3 defenders already. He wanted two midfielders and has been forced to settle the one who does not solve the fundamental midfield problem. In attack he has been able to balance the left-leaning dynamic with the addition of a Diamond on the Right. He also recruited a number 9 with the characteristics of a penalty-box striker to give himself more variation in attack. What lingers though, are questions about a CF who is not a natural CF, continuing as the starting CF along with a lack of cohesion in defensive application on the LW, compounded by an inability to press and have any genuine control on or off the ball in midfield. Where Mourinho cannot resolve these issues with personnel changes, he will need to rigid structure to compensate.
The La Fabrica graduate showed a lot of ability last season. He did not walk into a great team but one that was struggling on and off the ball. He ran tirelessly and constantly tried to play with composure, an admirable feature of his game. Thiago's simplicity on the ball was further highlighted by the typical haphazard play of the established midfielders who simply cannot tolerate or comprehend that a game cannot be played at a single pace or simply the pace that suits the opposition.
"Frat brother, real brother, that brother. We just upped the score, give me dap, brother."

Sometimes, you gotta make the tough call to put the old steer out to pasture.
Rhys Hoskins has a 95 wRC+ this season. That, especially on the Guardians, is not bad. However, this includes a 79 wRC+ since June 1st, during which time he has struck out 37% of the time. Even more prominently, since June 1st of LAST season, Hoskins has a 57 wRC+ against LHP. Why has Hoskins forgotten how to hit southpaws on a team that needs him to be able to be the career 130 wRC+ against them he has traditionally been like no other? I don't know. Because the baseball gods hate us, probably. It's likely one of two options: 1. small sample size and he'll eventually correct things, or 2. the canary in the coal mine that he is washed overall.
Regardless, Hoskins isn't helping the Cleveland Guardians win baseball games in his current role of supposed lefty masher who plays first base when LHP are on the mound. He's not a good defender. But, he is, from all accounts, great in the clubhouse. So great that the team is a game under .500 on August 8th. You can probably sense my skepticism that his clubhouse skills are indispensible to this team's success.
I think it's probably time to give Kody Huff a chance at a platoon first-base/occasional catching reps role. Huff has a .793 OPS against LHP and .914 OPS against RHP this season, but has traditionally hit LHP better than RHP as most RHH's do. Most importantly, he has a higher OPS away from the Columbus bandbox than at home (.888/.879). Zach Meisel of the Athletic has repeatedly mentioned on the Selby is Godcast that the team "LOVES" Huff and it was a big reason they were willing to trade Jacob Cozart and Bo Naylor at the trade deadline. Great opportunity to potentially get Huff some experience with Austin Hedges and Patrick Bailey and make use of the 235 innings he has played at first base to hopefully leverage their way to an improvement over what Hoskins has done against left-handed pitching.
By September, if Huff struggles and Ralphy Velazquez continues his recent breakout, I would love to see the team give Velazquez reps in a first base/DH role and let him hit LHP. (Cooper Ingle cannot hit lefties, in case anyone is wondering about him in a full-time DH role). Ralphy has consistently hit LHP slightly better than he has RHP over the past two seasons. He's a full-time hitter, eventually, and it would be great to give him a chance to experience big league pitching and potentially help a team trying to make the playoffs. But, for now, the team needs to take a shot at improving their roster in the Hoskins' role, even at the risk to clubhouse chemistry, and Huff seems to be the best potential option.

Q: Ira, I remember we used the Duncan Robinson trade exception to take in Bobby Portis Jr. Are there any plans to use the Haywood Highsmith trade exception before that expires? – Dan.
A: For those unaware, the Heat hold a $5.6 million trade exception from last summer's salary dump of Haywood Highsmith to the Nets, an exception that expires on Aug. 17. The reality is that because the Heat are hard-capped by virtue of the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade, they have more exception money at the moment than they can use, now just about $10 million below that hard cap. In addition to the Highsmith trade exception, the Heat have almost $9 million remaining from their mid-level exception and the $5.5 million bi-annual exception. Plus, they can sign players to the veteran minimum without regard to exception money. Worth noting, however, is that exceptions cannot be aggregated. The Heat have multiple means to spend, just not much in total to spend.
Submit your "Ask Ira" question here!
Q: Ira, there is all kinds of stuff all over the internet concerning a three-way trade involving Nikola Jovic, Klay Thompson and a third player. I know I shouldn't believe the internet, but if something like that did happen, would the Heat still be able to add DeMar DeRozan or someone similar? – Rich, Plantation.
A: Yes. In fact, currently at 12 players under standard contract, the Heat, by NBA rule, have to add at least two more players under standard contract (they can, in fact, add three, with the regular-season roster limit of 15 players under standard deals).

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) — In the NFL, teams are required to hold a non-padded practice after three consecutive days in pads. For Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs, that opens the door for an Andy Reid special: a 10-10-10 practice.
A 10-10-10 practice is unique to Reid and places an emphasis on lower intensity and mental sharpness. It derives its name from 10 offensive plays, 10 defensive plays and 10 minutes of special teams. The quick pace of practice creates a mental test, especially for new players, as they run in and out of huddles and look to execute ***** ignments correctly.
That being said, every part of a 10-10-10 practice cannot be taken at face value. Plays are scripted to produce a level of success for the group being evaluated. When the offense runs its 10 plays, the defense works at half speed as a scout team to give the offense certain looks. Deep passes are common, with defenders intentionally trailing receivers. On the other side of the ball, when the defense runs its 10 plays, the offense acts as the scout team, with the quarterback throwing into coverage, targeting a defender or holding the ball for an extra second.
Despite the lighter practice, there were still several notable nonparticipants, including Xavier Worthy, Cyrus Allen, L'Jarius Sneed and Drue Tranquill.
The practice gives players an opportunity to recover as they prepare to finish the week and turn their attention toward next week's first preseason game. Although the 10-10-10 format does not offer the same physical evaluation as a padded practice, it gives Reid and his staff another look at how quickly players process information and execute their responsibilities. For younger players fighting for spots on the 53-man roster, those mental reps can be just as important as anything they show in full-speed drills.

SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Mariners reliever Gabe Speier was given a three-game suspension Thursday after hitting Detroit's Gleyber Torres with a pitch in the eighth inning of Wednesday night's game.
Speier is appealing the ban, according to the MLB Players **** ociation.
Additionally, Mariners manager Dan Wilson was also suspended one-game and will serve his suspension in the series finale Thursday against the Tigers. Managers cannot appeal a suspension. Manny Acta will serve as the manager for the Mariners.
Speier had relieved Bryan Woo in the eighth inning of Seattle's 4-2 win. After getting the first two outs, Speier threw two inside fastballs to Torres, with the latter pegging him on the upper left leg on a 96.3 mph pitch.
Torres and Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh proceeded to have words with each other before the benches and bullpens cleared. There were no punches thrown, and Wilson was ejected in the aftermath after Speier was tossed from the game. It was the second time this season Wilson was removed from a game.

The Chicago Bears were back for the eighth practice of training camp on Thursday, which was their third padded workout of the week.
The Bears were back in pads after a day in shells, and the intensity was really cranked up another level, where things got chippy and feisty between the offense and defense. Unfortunately, the biggest storyline of the day was the injuries. After losing safety Coby Bryant earlier this week, defensive end Montez Sweat and left tackle Braxton Jones were among the four players injured. The good news is Sweat and Jones' injuries don't look to be significant. There were also some notable standout players during Thursday's workout while the offense finally found success in the two-minute drill.
Here's what we learned from the eighth practice of training camp:
Thursday's practice might've been the most physical yet this summer. According to Brad Biggs, the "intensity has been turned up a couple levels," noting the 9-on-7 run drill was "feisty." Adam Jahns added that it was a "chippy" practice where there was "lots of shoving. A couple skirmishes." According to Patrick Finley, things were so physical that, at one point, linebacker D'Marco Jackson needed a new facemask. That intensity was notable during the 9-on-7 run drill, which Courtney Cronin praised. "The physicality is at its peak this morning. Team periods opened with 9 on 7 run drills. Cannot remember the last time I saw the Bears rep this drill. Old school football."
The story of the day were the multiple injuries sustained during Thursday's padded practice, which was the most intense of the summer so far. But the most notable injuries came to defensive end Montez Sweat and left tackle Braxton Jones. Jones exited practice after 1-on-1 drills, per Zack Pearson, where he had been battling Austin Booker. "He and Austin Booker were still going after the whistle in the drill. He was talking to the trainers. Slammed his helmet down after both reps against Austin Booker." Jones did walk off under his own power, and Clay Harbor noted that Jones "appears to have avoided a serious injury." Later, Sweat appeared to injure himself after a team period, per Kevin Fishbain, where "Sweat seemed to slow up during a rep in 11 on 11 and took himself off the field."

Two-time Formula 1 champion Emerson Fittipaldi says he is thrilled by Lewis Hamilton's resurgence at Ferrari, sharing that he hopes the British driver can mount a serious championship challenge in the second half of the season.
Hamilton is currently in his second year with the Maranello outfit. While his initial season with the team prompted some to question whether he could continue competing at a high level against team-mate Charles Leclerc, Fittipaldi believes the seven-time champion has silenced his doubters this year.
His first season with Ferrari proved challenging as he adapted to the team, but after the first half of the 2026 season, Hamilton sits second in the drivers' championship.
"I was so happy to see Lewis and Ferrari going fast," Fittipaldi told F1.com. "I remember last year… it happened to me in IndyCar, and in F1, when you get older people start saying, 'Well, he cannot drive', and everybody last year criticised Lewis.
"'He cannot beat Leclerc, he's too old'. Now he's going strong. For the sport it's good, for the fans it's good. Seeing Ferrari winning again, and Lewis winning again, is fantastic.

SpaceX (SPCX) insiders and early investors will be able to sell their stock for the first time on Thursday, when 911.5 million shares become eligible to trade — around 43% more than the 638.9 million shares the company floated in its June initial public offering.
The unlock will more than double ******* eX's public float, lifting the freely tradable portion of the company to 11.8% of shares outstanding from 4.9%.
The unlock arrives at a precarious moment, with the stock trading below its IPO price after a sharp post-earnings sell-off.
But ******* eX stock pulled higher in midday trade after plumbing new lows, bucking the conventional thinking that extra share supply would depress the price.
When a company goes public, employees and pre-IPO investors typically agree to a lockup — a contractual window, usually 180 days, during which they cannot sell.

Former India opener Aakash Chopra believes Bhuvneshwar ******* ar's lack of regular 50-over and first-class cricket could prove to be a major hurdle if he is to force his way into India's plans for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

While praising the veteran seamer's performances in the IPL, Chopra said preparing for a 50-over World Cup requires sustained workload management, something that cannot be achieved by playing only T20 cricket.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra was asked about the World Cup prospects of both Bhuvneshwar ******* ar and Mohammad Shami.

"One thing goes against Bhuvi. I love him to bits, and I want him to play for India again, but when you don't play Ranji, your workload becomes limited. There are a handful of matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In ODI cricket, you have to bowl 10 overs and field for 50 overs in a match. It's a lot of workload."

Bhuvneshwar has not featured in a first-class match since January 2024 and last played a List A game in December 2023. Despite that, he has enjoyed an impressive run with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, playing a key role in their back-to-back IPL ******* le-winning campaigns.

Chopra stressed that excelling in the IPL alone should not be the basis for selection in a 50-over World Cup.

"It's not easy in a tournament like the World Cup where you have to keep playing continuously. Not only the World Cup, but you will have to be a part of every ODI game from a year earlier. You will have to start playing him from now on."

According to Chopra, if the selectors are serious about including Bhuvneshwar in their long-term plans, they need to bring him back into the ODI setup immediately.

"He is not a bad option, but it will be a mistake unless we give him at least one year to get ready. If you pick someone for the 50-over World Cup based on him bowling four overs in the two months of the IPL and a month of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, no matter how good that person is, it will be wrong."

He also suggested that Bhuvneshwar should feature in the upcoming ODI series and even the T20I ******* ignments if he remains under consideration for the 2027 World Cup.
Comparing Bhuvneshwar with Mohammad Shami, Chopra felt the latter currently has a stronger case because he has continued playing red-ball cricket, including the Ranji Trophy, where he claimed 37 wickets. Shami is also set to feature in the upcoming Duleep Trophy.

However, Chopra maintained that Bhuvneshwar had the better IPL season.

"It's the same thing for Shami, although he has played the Ranji Trophy and picked up 37 wickets. He is going to play the Duleep Trophy now as well. So Shami has a slightly better case to make, but the truth is that if we do man-to-man marking in the IPL, Bhuvneshwar ******* ar is ahead of him in that respect."

Chopra believes the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand could provide a clear indication of India's plans.

"My understanding is that the selectors, captain, and coach

Brittany Boltinhouse has been dethroned just weeks after being crowned Miss North Carolina USA.
Miss USA Organization chairman and CEO Thom Brodeur announced Wednesday that Boltinhouse, 27, was stripped of her ******* le after what he described as conduct that violated the organization's standards discovered in a "thorough review of recently surfaced information."
Although Brodeur did not specify the conduct, he said the pageant "does not tolerate racism, ******* phobia, transphobia nor language that strips any person of their dignity — whoever they are."
"This is not a policy written for a press release, it is the floor of what it means to represent this brand," the statement said. "A ******* le here isn't a trinket. It is a position of trust, extended by an organization and accepted by a woman who agrees to carry a standard in public."
He continued: "When that standard is broken, the ******* le cannot continue as though nothing happened. What was brought to us was not a single moment. It reflected conduct over an extended period of time."

Arsenal are exploring one of the most ambitious attacking moves of the summer, with Vinicius Junior understood to be firmly in their thinking as Mikel Arteta looks to add elite firepower out wide. As first reported by Alex Crook for talkSPORT, there is also parallel work being considered on Bradley Barcola if the conditions for a deal involving the Real Madrid forward do not fall into place.
From ****** nal's perspective, the attraction is obvious. Vinicius Junior is among the game's most decisive wide attackers, a player capable of altering the level of any front line immediately. The complication is equally clear. His preference is to stay at Real Madrid, and the current impasse appears rooted in contract terms rather than a desire to leave. That leaves ****** nal alert rather than advanced, watching for any opening if the situation fails to resolve.
Photo IMAGO
The report states that a move has been "approved at all levels internally". That points to serious internal alignment, and that matters. ****** nal have operated with greater conviction in recent windows when recruitment, coaching and ownership have all been synchronised. If Vinicius becomes genuinely available, it would be no surprise to see them move decisively.
Even so, ****** nal cannot afford a passive summer. The wider market rarely waits for one club to make up its mind, and this is where Barcola enters the picture. The Paris Saint-Germain winger has long been admired across Europe, and his profile fits much of what ****** nal seek, direct running, one-v-one threat, high-end athleticism and room for further development.

Kate Middleton has reportedly reached a conclusion following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's recent reunion with King Charles. Insiders claim she believes rebuilding trust must take priority over repairing family relationships. While the King's private meeting with the Sussexes has fueled speculation about a royal reconciliation, sources say the Princess of Wales remains cautious about what happens next.
The reunion took place during Harry and Meghan's visit to the United Kingdom last month, when they traveled with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet for the first time in four years. During the visit, King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted Harry, Meghan, and their children at Highgrove House.
"The King has always hoped that, in time, the family could begin repairing some of the damage that has built up over recent years," according to RadarOnline, a Royal source claimed.
The source added, however, that Charles' willingness to reconnect does not necessarily reflect the views of the Prince and Princess of Wales. "William and Kate believe that reconciliation has to be earned through actions over time," the insider alleged. "Their verdict is that trust was broken, and rebuilding it cannot happen overnight simply because everyone has shared the same roof for a few days."
The insider claimed Kate has never enjoyed family conflict and generally prefers to move beyond difficult situations. However, according to the source, the circumstances surrounding Harry and Meghan's departure from royal life have made this situation different.

Confidence in Fifa is being restored. How do we know? Because Fifa has told us. And Fifa's integrity is such that attacks on it cannot be tolerated... Fifa, in between plotting to sell off the World Cup, has said it wasn't doing that. Not that many people in Fifa knew for sure, as Fifa didn't bother consulting them.
But then, as Fifa said a statement about a "constructive and positive meeting held in Rabat, Morocco", its only official elected by the 211 member ******* ociations is the president. Gianni Infantino showed minimal remorse in his letter after the Fifa crisis meeting (Getty Images)

The conventional view of the Hormuz crisis is that China has been caught in an energy trap. It is the world's largest crude importer, the Gulf remains one of its most important sources of supply, and an estimated 45–50% of Chinese crude imports normally transit the Strait of Hormuz. When traffic through the strait slows, Beijing cannot simply replace all those barrels overnight. That vulnerability is real. But it is also incomplete.
China entered this crisis with large strategic and commercial inventories, diversified suppliers and the ability to suppress refinery runs. More importantly, it entered with something previous oil-importing economies did not have during earlier supply shocks: a rapidly electrifying transport system already removing more than one million barrels per day of potential oil demand.
Strategic reserves buy time. Electrification changes the balance permanently.
The missing 1.35 million barrels per day
In the first half of 2026, China's electric vehicle fleet displaced an estimated 34 million tonnes of oil. Using a standard conversion for crude-equivalent volumes, that is around 1.35 million barrels per day, more than 1% of total global oil consumption.

LAS VEGAS – Diego Ferreira doesn't see the end of the road, at least not yet.
The UFC lightweight veteran competes in his 27th professional fight this Saturday against Billy Quarantillo in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 284 (Paramount+), which takes place at the Meta APEX. Ferreira (20-7 MMA, 11-7 UFC) has been competing for 15 years, turned 41 earlier this year, and is on a two-fight losing streak, with his most recent bout being a TKO stoppage loss. Yet, despite having the signs many consider to signal the end of a fighting career, Ferreira's fighting spirit still remains strong.
"I want to enjoy it," Ferreira told MMA Junkie and other media at Wednesday's UFC Fight Night 284 media day. "I'm not looking to retire yet. A lot of people have been asking me that question, but right now I want to live the moment. I enjoy it here. I like to be a fighter. I like to be a professional fighter. It's something I took that far, and I never thought about having that kind of lifestyle. I want to enjoy it now, and I want to do things for me and have a purpose in my life. I want to do things for me, and I want to do this as long as I can."
Ferreira enters as a favorite against Quarantillo (20-8 MMA, 6-5 UFC), who's also on a two-fight losing streak. Although Ferreira is looking to use his experience in this bout, he's also not going to shy away from getting into a firefight – which has been part of his fighting identity in the UFC.
"It's be smarter, for sure I will, but you cannot change a warrior; you can't change a man who's been making his history like that long," Ferreira said. "I think the pressure is still going to be there. Going forward is the goal. Put the war like how I did with Anthony Pettis; it is the same goal. But yeah, be more seasoned, more patient, but I'm always looking for the finish. I'm always looking to bite my mouthpiece and move forward. I want to look for the finish in this one."

Wilyer Abreu cannot stop hitting home runs. The Boston Red Sox outfielder continued his remarkable power surge Wednesday night against the Chicago White Sox, launching a 390-foot solo home run into the right-center-field seats at Fenway Park. Abreu's third-inning blast gave Boston a 2-0 lead and marked his fifth home run over his last six games. He also singled and scored on Willson Contreras' first-inning hit, accounting for both Red Sox runs through the first three innings.
The Red Sox celebrated the latest blast with a fitting social media message.
"WHO ELSE?" the team wrote on X.
It is a fair question. No hitter in baseball is producing more consistent power than Abreu right now.

Last night, the Athletics opened their first series after the trade deadline with their sixth straight loss, falling 5-4 to the Cincinnati Reds after another bullpen collapse. This time, left-hander Hogan Harris—one of the team's most reliable relievers this season—took the loss after throwing two wild pitches in the same at-bat, allowing the game-tying and go-ahead runs to score in the eighth inning.
This evening, the A's will look to avoid a seventh-straight loss as they continue their series against the Reds. Left-hander Jacob Lopez will get the start for the Green & Gold, making his first career appearance against Cincinnati. The 28-year-old enters his 18th appearance and 15th start of the season with a 5-4 record, a 5.79 ERA, a 1.67 WHIP and 61 strikeouts across 70 innings pitched.
Lopez's performance has improved since returning to the team's rotation a few weeks ago. He received a no-decision in his last outing against the Boston Red Sox, allowing one run on seven hits while striking out eight over 5 1/3 innings.
Multiple A's pitchers have struggled with their command this season, and Lopez has been one of the biggest culprits. The 42 walks he has issued are a major reason for his elevated WHIP. However, he has shown improvement lately, walking just two batters in two out of his last three starts.
Against a Reds' offense that has drawn the seventh-most walks in the league, Lopez will need to pound the strike zone, hit his spots and find ways to retire hitters efficiently. If he cannot, the Athletics could once again find themselves trailing early and forced to rely on the bullpen sooner than expected.

Sandisk (NASDAQ: SNDK) has had an incredible run over the past year. At its peak in late June, the stock was up over 5,438%, but it has given back a lot of those gains since the calendar flipped past June. Now, it's down around 48% from its all-time high.
Many investors are now wondering if Sandisk's stock bubble has burst, warranting the sell-off. On the flip side, this could just be a case of investors taking profits on a huge winner. That would make it a stock potentially worth buying on the dip.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
I think Sandisk stock still has a lot of long-term investing merit, and a rally could be coming in the future that will return it to all-time high levels. Let me explain.
Sandisk makes NAND memory, which is commonly used for long-term data storage. NAND is used in various devices, but the biggest demand for it right now comes from solid-state drives (SSDs), which are used in data centers to store information. There is an unprecedented number of data centers being built right now, and the memory chip industry cannot meet the demand. As a result, there is a supply shortage, causing prices to skyrocket, benefiting producers like Sandisk.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri's top election official has rejected a citizens' petition seeking a statewide referendum on new congressional districts backed by President Donald Trump.
Supporters of the referendum had submitted hundreds of thousands of petition signatures in a bid to force a November election on a new U.S. House map approved by the Republican-led state Legislature. But Republican Secretary of State Denny Hoskins ****** erted Tuesday that the petition is void because congressional redistricting plans cannot be subject to voter referendums.
The number of petition signatures submitted doesn't matter, Hoskins said, because "challenging a congressional map is unconstitutional under Missouri law."
A group backing the referendum effort said it will contest Hoskins' decision in court.
"Secretary of State Hoskins is making a last desperate attempt to silence the people's voice in Missouri," Richard von Glahn, executive director of People Not Politicians Missouri, said in a statement, while ****** erting there are more than enough signatures to qualify the referendum for the ballot.

Real Madrid have a very talented squad at Jose Mourinho's disposal, with many players competing for each position.
For a player like Brahim Diaz, the Moroccan attacking midfielder could have an important squad role to play even if he does not always feature as a starter.
The 27-year-old versatile star has been at the Spanish club for a few seasons now, playing important role off the bench.
Earlier this summer, it emerged that even if he cannot have a starring role, Brahim was still keen on staying at Real Madrid.
However, in recent days, talk of a potential move to Besiktas has emerged for the talented Real Madrid ace.

Shaquille O'Neal has an honest conversation with his son, Shareef O'Neal.
Shaquille O'Neal is widely viewed as one of the most dominant basketball players to ever grace the hardwood in the NBA.
During his phenomenal career, Shaq won four NBA Championships and a plethora of individual accolades. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Shaq's son, Shareef O'Neal.
Despite a three-year NCAA stint, Shareef is yet to make his NBA debut because of life-threatening heart surgery and a series of injuries. But Shaq's son seems keen on the NBA.

Aug 4 - U.S. President Donald Trump repeatedly campaigned for his second term as a champion of free expression, vowing in his January 2025 inaugural address to stop what he described as years of "government censorship."
Since then, a wave of court rulings has concluded his administration has done the opposite. Reuters identified 75 federal-judge rulings finding Trump's government infringed on First-Amendment rights including freedoms of speech, religion, and the press.
The unprecedented pushback on constitutional grounds has included repeated ‌findings that the administration chilled or squelched the speech of citizens and groups opposing the Republican's agenda.
"The President's palpable misunderstanding that the government simply cannot seek retribution for speech he disdains poses a great threat to Americans' freedom of speech," Boston-based U.S. District Judge ‌William Young wrote.

Someone is collecting signatures that might kill a racetrack by telling people it will save it. That is not a typo. Paid canvassers in Nashville were caught on hidden camera telling residents that signing their petition would protect the Fairgrounds Speedway from being torn down by corporate developers. The petition actually does the exact opposite. It strips racing's legal protections from the city charter and tries to open the land to housing construction. Dale Earnhardt Jr. sat down with Marcus Smith, Jeff Burton, and Matt Weaver to talk about it.
"My question is, if it's true, which there's video evidence of these folks seeking these signatures, stating false information or just incorrect information, how can that not be taken to de-legitimize the 50,000, 60,000 signatures they need?" said Dale Jr. on Wednesday's episode of The Dale Jr. Download.
"They are using actual government letterhead to give this to the residents. That's the moment it becomes a legal matter."
Residents who figured out they were misled are now trying to pull their names off the petition. But the Metro Clerk's office earlier told them they cannot before suggesting that anyone who would like to remove their name can contact Restore Our Fairgrounds. That said, former council members have already filed formal complaints demanding a full investigation.
The petition campaign has been backed by John Ingram, per reports, owner of Nashville SC.
