The Brooklyn Nets are coming off a disappointing 20-62 record in the 2025-26 NBA season that ultimately gave them the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Brooklyn is likely going to improve the roster as much as possible over the course of this offseason and it seems like they are targeting a former top-10 pick.
"Brooklyn keeps coming up as a likely suitor, too, for the Lakers' Rui Hachimura, league sources say," NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer reported Saturday on The Stein Line. The Los Angeles Lakers are trying to bring back as much as possible of their roster from last season, but forward Rui Hachimura could fall through the salary-cap cracks.
"The Nets and Spurs are two teams we've heard have interest in adding Hachimura's services," Stein and Fischer continued. "While the Spurs are also faced with resolving Harrison Barnes' future as the veteran forward heads to unrestricted free agency."
Hachimura, 28, is coming off a solid season for the Lakers as he averaged 11.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game while shooting 51.4% from the field and 44.3% from behind the three-point line. While the Lakers showed his value as a shooter and scorer, Los Angeles prioritized re-signing Austin Reaves and is likely hoping to re-sign forward LeBron James in free-agency.
In other news, the Nets have also shown interest in Cleveland Cavaliers guard Keon Ellis as he enters free-agency following an interesting year for the veteran. "Keon Ellis, meanwhile, appears less likely to stay in Cleveland … unless the Cavaliers lose Wade. One anticipated landing spot for Ellis is Brooklyn," Stein and Fischer reported.

The Brooklyn Nets have developed their teams through a number of strategies over the decades, and their front office has put together considerable success through the NBA draft. Many of the franchise's best players have joined the Nets either by being selected directly in the annual draft or through trades made on that day.
Moreover, it is not only the star players who have been acquired by the Nets through the draft. Several prominent alumni have been selected by the team each offseason during this annual event, with certain colleges being more prominently represented than others. An ******* ysis of the players from different schools reveals that both prestigious programs and smaller institutions have contributed top talent to the Nets' roster over the years.
So without further ado, let's take a look at every player who has been drafted by the Nets out of San Francisco.

The Phoenix Suns continue to stand pat as they intend to re-sign restricted free agent Mark Williams to a three-year, $38-million deal, league sources confirmed with The Arizona Republic on June 25.
ESPN's Shams Charania first reported the news on Williams.
Teams can begin to sign free agents on July 6. The Suns won 45 games and returned to the playoffs after missing it in 2024-25 with Williams starting 55 games at center.
The Suns initially tendered a qualifying offer of $9.6 million to the 7-footer to make him a restricted free agent, which means they could match any offer from another team to retain Williams.
Williams, 24, averaged 11.7 points and eight rebounds in his first season in Phoenix. He played a career-high 60 games after playing a total of 106 games in three seasons with the Charlotte Hornets.

PHOENIX (AP) — The Phoenix Suns are finalizing a deal to bring back center Mark Williams on a $38 million, three-year deal, a person familiar with the negotiations said on Thursday.
The person spoke to The ****** ociated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal — first reported by ESPN — has not been announced.
The 24-year-old Williams was a restricted free agent after scoring 11.7 points and grabbing eight rebounds per game last season. The 7-foot-1 big man played his first three seasons with the Charlotte Hornets before he was traded to the Suns in a draft day deal in 2025.
Williams — who was the No. 15 pick in the 2022 draft — has battled injuries throughout his career, but played in a career-high 60 games last season, including 55 starts.
He shot 64% from the field and averaged nearly a block per game.

Mark Williams isn't going anywhere.
The Phoenix Suns starting center, a restricted free agent, plans to sign a three-year, $38 million contract to return to the team, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Williams, a former 15th overall pick for the Charlotte Hornets, joined the Suns last offseason via a draft night trade. He quickly developed into a quality starter for the Suns, who reached the playoffs via the NBA play-in tournament and got swept in the first round by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Williams' main issue last year was a foot fracture that forced him nearly all of March. Health has been an issue in general for Williams, who has yet to appear in more than 60 games in a single season.
The deal gives the Suns a clean sweep of re-signing their priority free agents, as they retained Collin Gillespie on a four-year, $48 million deal last week, then kept Jordan Goodwin on a three-year, $19 million deal.

Two weeks ago, as NBA teams ramped up their draft preparation efforts — scheduling workouts, finalizing big boards and, more importantly, gathering intel on potential trades — one Eastern Conference name, sources say, continued to permeate conversations.
It wasn't Giannis Antetokounmpo. And it wasn't Jaylen Brown.
It was Hornets forward Miles Bridges.
At a glance, Charlotte actively shopping Bridges made sense. A team quietly being reshaped around a young head coach and an even younger core suddenly had a 28-year-old entering the final year of his contract (Bridges will make an estimated $22.8 million in 2026-27). The sharp decline in his two-way impact — Bridges finished the 2024-25 season in the 91st percentile of efficiency differential, but fell to just the 23rd this past season — compared to the second-half surge from the rest of the team making him available also tracked in some circles. The Hornets' hopes of adding a quality big to the roster, dangling Bridges in talks, checked out as well. But the more Bridges' name was discussed in hypotheticals, the more the conversation shifted in another direction.

The price of Brent (BZ=F) oil futures fell below $75 per barrel on Wednesday for the first time since the Iran war began.
The decline came after the US and Iran signed an initial agreement last week to end the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The Brent contract is the international benchmark for oil pricing on which almost all other oil grades are based. Brent pricing slid roughly 4.4% on Wednesday, falling below $74. Contracts on WTI crude (CL=F), the US benchmark, traded near $71 Wednesday morning on an equal 4.4% slide.
The move on Brent pricing comes after a loss of 27% over the previous month, as peace negotiations to end the conflict that has roiled the global energy market came to a head with the signing by the US and Iran of a memorandum of understanding (MOU).
The MOU, among other tenets, calls for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and for freedom of navigation for oil tankers and other vessels that have been stuck on either side of the critical waterway. Both US and Iranian leaders have promised safe passage for vessel transits, though some larger shipping lines have elected to wait longer to ******* s whether the tentative peace agreement holds, freight ******* ysts told Yahoo Finance.

LaMelo Ball, the dynamic point guard, is set to join the Minnesota Timberwolves in a significant trade that will reshape both franchises.

The pick swaps are slated for 2028, 2029, and 2030, while the Hornets will also acquire second-round selections in 2029, 2032, and 2033.

Timberwolves Reportedly Tried Trading For Celtics' Jaylen Brown Before LaMelo Ball originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Boston Celtics made Jaylen Brown available during trade talks for Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to NBA insider Shams Charania, and other teams are reportedly trying to get him now that the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes is over.
ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported on Tuesday that other teams were preparing for the scenario where the Celtics did not land Antetokounmpo, so that they could try to make offers on Brown. Windhorst said five to ten teams could get involved in trade talks for Brown, and according to The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski, the Minnesota Timberwolves were one of those teams.
The Timberwolves pulled off a blockbuster trade for LaMelo Ball on Thursday, sending Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps and three second-round picks to the Charlotte Hornets. However, they also discussed Brown with the Celtics.
"The Wolves did have discussions with the Celtics on Jaylen Brown as well, sources told The Athletic," Krawczynski wrote on X. "But they saw LaMelo Ball as fitting more of what they needed, for likely less compensation going out."

LaMelo Ball is heading to Minnesota.
On Thursday, the Hornets sent Ball, who they selected No. 3 overall in the 2020 draft, and Josh Green to the Timberwolves for Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps (2028, 2029, 2030), and three second-round picks (2029, 2032, 2033). News of the trade was first reported by ESPN.
The deal comes a day after the 2026 NBA draft ended and on the first day of a new era, in which Adam Silver’s ‘3-2-1 lottery’ system goes into effect for the 2027 draft. Next year’s draft will expand the lottery from 14 teams to 16 and will give teams that finish fourth through 10th a higher chance at landing the No. 1 pick than the bottom-three teams. It will also reverse the order of the second round, with the team that picks first also selecting 16th in the second round (46th overall).
The trade echoes what ESPN front-office **** yst Bobby Marks told Front Office Sports about transactions in the new-look NBA, with star players continuing to command first-round picks. Marks was unsure about second-round picks being part of big trades, and Ball’s has three of those, too.
“I think superstars, teams are always going to trade first-round picks,” Marks told FOS before the draft. “I think there’s a little bit of uncertainty when it comes to trading second-round picks just based on its inverse order, so there’s the unknown on where it lands. I think there is a little bit of hesitation here as far as just because we haven’t gone through it yet, as far as where potential picks can be.”

After rumors circulated Wednesday night regarding LaMelo Ball, the Charlotte Hornets finalized a deal to trade him Thursday morning. In a shocking move, Ball and Josh Green will be headed to the Minnesota Timberwolves for a package that includes Naz Reid, a 2033 first-round draft pick, three second-round draft picks and three first-round pick swaps.
The move comes after the Hornets were gaining serious momentum in the Eastern Conference, having made a 25-win improvement from a season prior, going from 19-63 to 44-38. As a result, Charlotte finished one game away from their first playoff berth since the 2015-16 season, falling to the Orlando Magic in the NBA Play-In Tournament.
Now, without Ball, the Hornets seem to have pushed their window of contention down the line even further despite the strides they made last season. As for Minnesota, the Timberwolves have finally paired Anthony Edwards with another All-Star caliber talent in a highly contested Western Conference.

Jun. 25—CHAMPAIGN — Illinois forward Ben Humrichous signed an Exhibition 10 contract with the Brooklyn Nets late Wednesday night following the 2026 NBA Draft. Jon Chepkevich, of Draft Express, was first to report.
Humrichous went undrafted, but with the Exhibit 10 deal will now get at least a shot at the NBA. First up? Likely a Summer League run with the Nets for the 6-foot-9 forward.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum salary deal that includes a training camp invite. The agreement can then either be guaranteed or converted to a two-way contract before the regular season starts. Teams can waive a player on an Exhibit 10 contract at any time without a salary cap hit.
Humrichous' path to a potential NBA landing spot is unique. The Tipton, Ind., native started his college career at NAIA Huntington University before a one-year stop at Evansville led him to Illinois. He played two seasons for the Illini, turning into a valuable role player during the team's Final Four run this past season.
Humrichous averaged 5.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in his final season at Illinois while shooting 36 percent from three-point range. He was a solid team defender with a penchant for sneaky blocked shots and posted one of the the Illini's highest offensive ratings during their 28-9 campaign.

Rumors circulated on Wednesday, June 24, that the Charlotte Hornets were considering trading LaMelo Ball, and the Minnesota Timberwolves were the perceived frontrunners. It didn't take long for a deal to come to fruition: the two sides agreed to terms less than 24 hours later, ESPN's Shams Charania reported.
The trade reportedly includes the following:
Timberwolves receive: LaMelo Ball and Josh Green
Hornets receive: Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps (2028, 2029 and 2030) and three second-round picks (2029, 2032 and 2033)
The trade is pick-heavy in terms of what the Hornets received in exchange for Ball, although it does address a need in the frontcourt with the addition of Reid. As for the Timberwolves, they get the highly coveted star addition to pair in the backcourt with Anthony Edwards.

Keith Smith: Multiple ways the LaMelo Ball trade could be completed, but unless other parts of this emerge later, the easiest path could be to fold this deal into the previously agreed to trade with the Nets, Bulls and Timberwolves. That would solve salary-matching issues for the Wolves.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have reportedly emerged as the strongest candidate to pursue the Charlotte Hornets star, with league sources continuing to connect Ball to a potential partnership with Anthony Edwards. Speaking about the situation, MacMahon explained that Minnesota is the team being discussed most frequently among league executives and insiders. "Well, the team that you're hearing about the most from people around the league is the Minnesota Timberwolves. And it's no secret," he said per ESPN. "They've been star hunting in the last handful of transaction cycles. They don't have a lot of ****** ets in terms of future picks, but they've been trying to find that co-star to pair with Anthony Edwards. There's definitely interest there. There are other teams involved, but again, the Timberwolves are the team that you're hearing the most about."

The NBA is watching the Kawhi Leonard-Los Angeles Clippers situation as teams gear up for the free agency negotiating period opening Tuesday, June 30, at 6 p.m. ET.
Leonard, who will turn 35 on Monday, is on a one-year, $50.3 million contract. He is extension eligible.
ESPN's telecast Wednesday night of the second round of the 2026 NBA Draft discussed Leonard's future in a segment late in the draft. And the Detroit Pistons were the first team brought up as one to watch.
"I think there's a lot of playoff teams keeping an eye on what happens with Kawhi Leonard," ESPN cap expert and former Brooklyn Nets executive Bobby Marks said.
"Say more, what playoff teams?" host Malika Andrews asked.

NEW YORK — The Nets used Tuesday night to add creation and force. Wednesday was about range.
Brooklyn wrapped up its 2026 NBA draft by selecting UCLA forward Tyler Bilodeau with the No. 43 overall pick in the second round, adding one of the best shooting frontcourt players in the class to a roster still young, crowded and being reshaped around a trade for Julius Randle.
Bilodeau, 22, was not in the green room when his name came off the board. His path to Brooklyn arrived later in the night, after the Nets had already made their biggest moves of the draft: selecting Louisville guard Mikel Brown Jr. at No. 6 and agreeing in principle to acquire the draft rights to Iowa State forward Joshua Jefferson, the No. 28 pick, from the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of a trade still awaiting finalization.
The Timberwolves used the No. 33 pick Brooklyn sent out in the reported Randle deal to select Duke sharpshooter Isaiah Evans. The Nets, meanwhile, finished their draft with Bilodeau, a skilled offensive forward whose jumper gives him a workable NBA entry point.
Bilodeau averaged 17.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.1 ******* ists in his final season at UCLA while shooting 51.8% from the field, 46.4% from 3-point range and 87.3% from the free-throw line. He made those 3s on 4.5 attempts per game, high volume for a frontcourt player.

The Charlotte Hornets acquired Xavier Tillman Sr. at February's trade deadline, reuniting him with Charles Lee. Unfortunately for Tillman Sr., he struggled mightily after joining the Hornets, averaging 0.8 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.5 ***** ists in 16 games.
With free agency on the horizon this summer, Tillman Sr. wasted no time finding a new home, opting to sign in Turkey before the NBA's free agent signing period began. A former NBA champion with the Celtics, Tillman Sr. will now join Trabzonspor. There he'll join another former NBA product, Shaquille Harrison. If able to showcase defensive versatility and improvements from beyond the arc, the 27-year-old Tillman Sr. still has plenty of time to return to the NBA.
