WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — Vinny Busher looked out at the football field in front of him, a postcard setting backdropped by rolling green mountains and a cloudless blue sky.
"It's gorgeous," he said.
More than eight hours earlier, at 4:30 a.m., Busher left his home in Wappingers Falls, New York, and began the drive to Giants training camp at The Greenbrier resort. Busher, 37, pulled on his Eli Manning jersey and brought his girlfriend, ******* isa Aste, along for the ride, ready to bask in the optimism of coach John Harbaugh's first camp.
"I'm here for the vibes," Aste said.
Unlike Busher, she's not a Giants fan worn down by so much misery over the past 14 years. Still, here she was Thursday, watching the Giants' second camp practice on a perfect, low-humidity West Virginia afternoon. They'd stay the night and drive back in the morning. Weekend commitments awaited.

The college basketball landscape was rocked by yet another massive rule change over this weekend. A federal judge from Colorado granted an injunction declaring that high school class of 2022 athletes were eligible for a fifth season of play, retroactively applying the NCAA's new five-year eligibility model to this cohort.
Predictably, many fourth-year players are entering the transfer portal to use their additional year of eligibility, including former St. John's guard Oziyah Sellers. On3 reported on Saturday morning that the California native will return to college basketball for one more season.
A member of last year's star-studded transfer class, Sellers averaged 10.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.6 ****** ists on 42.9% shooting and 35.1% from three last season, leading the Johnnies with 53 three-pointers made.
Sellers went unselected in the 2026 NBA draft and suited up for the New York Knicks in last month's NBA Summer League, recording 5.8 points per game in five appearances off the bench.
Unlike fellow seniors Zuby Ejiofor and Bryce Hopkins, Sellers retains his college basketball eligibility because he did not sign a standard NBA contract or a two-way deal. When Princess Diana walked down the aisle on July 29, 1981, the world saw one of the most iconic wedding gowns in history. What no one knew was that another dress was waiting behind the scenes just in case disaster struck.
Designed by husband-and-wife duo David and Elizabeth Emanuel, the secret gown was created as an insurance policy while the now-famous wedding dress was being finished. "I was a bit neurotic," Elizabeth Emanuel previously told PEOPLE. "I thought, 'What happens if somebody breaks in and steals the dress or something spills or there's a fire?' So I thought, 'I'm going to make a backup dress.'"
Unlike Diana's legendary ivory silk taffeta dress with its record-breaking 25-foot train, the spare design was noticeably different. It featured slimmer sleeves, white silk instead of ivory, and a much shorter train. It also was never fully completed because, fortunately, it was never needed.

It has been a trying 2026 LPGA campaign for 25-year old Yealimi Noh.
The six-year pro entered play this week at the AIG Women's Open in Lytham St. Annes, England, with three consecutive missed cuts, two of which were in major championships.
Noh's fortunes have changed with a 2-under-par 69 in the third round of the Women's Open to lead the final major of the year at 7-under 206 through three rounds at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club.
Noh carded rounds of 67 and 70 to open the tournament to sit just two shots off the pace set by South Korea's Haeryn Ryu. Her status looked bleak Saturday after taking a bogey 6 on the par-5 seventh hole to fall six shots off the pace of the fast-starting Ryu.

Generally speaking, when a headline asks a yes or no question, the answer is "no." It's called Betteridge's law of headlines, and it's a consistent guide in the journalism world.
If we apply it here, the law tells us that no, Davante Adams won't recreate his 2025 production in 2026.
OK, so it's unlikely that Adams leads the NFL in receiving touchdowns in his age-34 season. But what can we expect from the veteran receiver?
It's not impossible, but it would be somewhat shocking to see him completely fall off a cliff. Adams's game is built to last, as it's based far more on technique and precision than it is on raw, physical gifts. He's been an elite route runner with a top-tier release for the balance of his career, and it's a career with legitimate Hall of Fame credentials. Those kinds of players generally age more gracefully at the position.
That said, his transformation last year into the best red zone weapon in the league probably won't continue. It could, certainly, but the odds don't favor it. Again, he'll turn 34 this season (albeit quite late in the year) and individual red zone production can be a volatile statistic. Massachusetts is on the way to giving doctors the final say on whether an abortion should be allowed late in pregnancy, a move expected to affect few cases but that supporters say is needed because hospitals are now turning away women they should be serving.
The state Senate adopted the measure Friday, sending it to Democratic Gov. Maura Healey, who has signed other laws strengthening abortion rights.
Under current Massachusetts law, abortion is legal for the first 24 weeks of pregnancy. It is allowed after that only if a physician using best medical judgment says it is necessary to preserve the life, physical or mental health of the woman, because of a lethal fetal anomaly or diagnosis or because the fetus wouldn't likely survive outside the uterus.
State Rep. Christine Barber said that under that framework, hospitals turned away some women for abortions late in pregnancy, even in a case where a fetus had a stroke and was determined to be unlikely to survive.
The new law would take out the list of specific reasons and say simply that it would be allowed "based on the professional judgment of the physician."

LATROBE – Day Three of Pittsburgh Steelers training camp was unlike any Steelers practice I've covered in terms of its layout. It was an incredibly light day for the Steelers that featured players in caps and bucket hats rather than helmets as the team ran a walkthrough for the entire two hour practice.
The plays were ran at 50-60 percent speed, and it was a very energetic, laid back environment. So, with that as a prerequisite, there frankly wasn't much to take away from Day Three, but Joey Bray and I will both share the few takeaways we had from Friday morning's practice.
Germie Bernard took the field with the First-Team during practice, working largely from the slot while DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman were on the outside. Roman Wilson took some reps on the outside with the second team. This was by design, as head coach Mike McCarthy said ahead of practice that he would be looking to give Wilson some outside reps as to not pigeon hole him at one spot. – Jarrett Bailey
Throughout practice, Aaron Rodgers was under center a lot. This is something that Rodgers had stressed in his pre-training camp presser on Tuesday. He wants to be under center more this season and it looks like McCarthy is going to grant his wish and give him those opportunities this season. – Joey Bray
Mike McCarthy spent the majority of practice with the third and fourth teams coaching up Will Howard and Drew Allar. Howard is the guy McCarthy has arguably talked up the most this offseason, while Allar is the hand picked developmental quarterback. It's refreshing to see a head coach so involved with the development of his young quarterbacks. If anything, it shows that McCarthy is looking toward the future and wants to get every opportunity he can at these young guys. It would be much better for the Steelers long term if one of the guys on the roster ends up being their future franchise guy, and McCarthy knows that. Howard has much more to prove over the next few weeks of camp and preseason compared to Allar, but getting that increased one-on-one time with their new head coach is crucial. – Joey Bray

On Friday, members of the Oregon women's basketball team filed a petition for union representation with the Oregon Employment Relations Board, marking the latest unionization effort in college sports—and the first based solely on public sector state labor laws.
The effort was led by the United College Athletes **** ociation, a 501(c)(5) labor union founded by former NCAA track athlete Andrew Cooper,which has been working to organize women's basketball specifically since 2024. While this is the first formal move toward unionization, the UCAA says it has more than 100 women's basketball players who have signed "unionization authorization cards."
The UCAA's advisory board includes current and former members of professional sports unions, including NWSLPA executive director Meghann Burke and WNBPA president Nneka Ogwumike, as well as former National Labor Relations Board executives.
"We deserve a seat at the table, meaningful protections, fair compensation, and a collective bargaining agreement that raises the standard for everyone," Maryland women's basketball player Oluchi Okananwa, the interim president of the UCAA, said in a statement. "This work is bigger than any one season or generation. We are building lasting power for the athletes competing today and those who will come after us."
The news comes just several days after a separate organization, the College Football Players **** ociation, launched an organizing effort among football players at Stanford. Unlike the UCAA's effort, however, Stanford football players aren't filing for formal union authorization just yet—they're waiting for a more favorable political climate.

The Miami Marlins and Telemundo have announced a local deal that will see the Marlins broadcast games over-the-air in Spanish for the first time.
The agreement will see two Marlins games air in Spanish on WSCV (Channel 51) in Miami: Sunday, Aug. 9, vs. the Los Angeles Angels at 1:40 p.m. ET and the regular-season finale on Sunday, Sept. 27, vs. the Atlanta Braves at 3:10 p.m. ET.
Unlike most Spanish-language broadcasts, the Marlins games on Telemundo will feature a dedicated broadcast team. Jose Francisco Rivera will handle play-by-play, with Daniel Álvarez-Montes providing color commentary.
"Baseball is deeply rooted in the Spanish-speaking community, and that is especially true here in South Florida," said Caroline O'Connor, Miami Marlins President of Business. "Our partnership with Telemundo 51 Miami allows us to connect with Spanish-speaking fans in a more meaningful way through Spanish-language broadcasts while expanding access to Marlins baseball across the region."

Each day Mark Beard spends in recovery is a reminder of what could have been. He is living a version of the future that his brother, the late former Liverpool Women manager Matt Beard, could have had.
Mark is a professional development coach at Premier League club Hull City. His brother Matt was a revered women's football coach synonymous with Liverpool, where he won back-to-back Women's Super League ***** les in 2013 and 2014 before returning to guide them back into the top flight in 2022. He also led West Ham Women to an unlikely FA Cup final, was twice voted WSL manager of the season and was posthumously inducted into the league's Hall of Fame this year.
Matt died at the age of 47 last September. The inquest into his death is not concluded, but a coroner's court was told that he took his own life.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has joined UEFA and CONCACAF in opposing FIFA's proposed sale of stakes in its competitions to private investors, piling further pressure on plans backed by FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
In a statement released on Friday, the AFC said it "stands in solidarity" with UEFA and CONCACAF, warning the proposals could not "realistically achieve the necessary broad consensus and unity required to move forward".
"The FIFA World Cup is the pinnacle of global football and derives its strength from the participation of all Confederations and the world's leading football nations," the AFC said. "Any proposal that risks undermining the unity and universal character of the competition must be reconsidered."
The latest intervention leaves FIFA facing opposition from three of its six continental confederations, making it increasingly unlikely the proposal would secure the support needed if put to a vote.

The Athletics closed out this four-game series against the Boston Red Sox on a warm summer night in West Sacramento. It was déjà vu all over again for the A's, as they carried a late lead only to watch another reliever blow the save in a 5-4 loss that prevented them from salvaging a series split.
The Athletics' struggles with runners in scoring position showed up immediately. Facing Red Sox starter Sonny Gray, designated hitter Jacob Wilson lined a one-out double in the bottom of the first, only to be stranded at second as the next two hitters grounded out.
A's right fielder Carlos Cortes drew a leadoff walk in the third inning. He advanced to second on a groundout and then moved to third on Red Sox' shortstop Andruw Monasterio's fielding error. Just a few weeks ago, only a handful of members of the U.S. women's hockey team were expected to attend the ESPYs, the annual awards show honoring the year's biggest athletes, teams and moments in sports.
By Wednesday afternoon, many more of the reigning Olympic gold medalists were swapping jerseys for gowns inside a midtown Manhattan penthouse. Champagne was flowing. Hair and makeup artists buzzed around the room. Shares of the South Korean chip play tanked as the company said it expects its capital expenditures to surge 50% this year to at least $31 billion. The company is attempting to meet the strong demand for its memory chips, which are playing a key role in the AI boom.

The MMA landscape is changing, and PFL CEO John Martin is at the helm of what appears to soon be the de facto second-biggest player in the field.
The argument was already there for PFL, but now that an MVP merger has been announced, it seems the promotion has accelerated its momentum and is entering 2027 with its foot on the gas. Martin revealed Thursday that when the calendar flips at the end of this year, the promotion's branding will, too.
"We're going to work to start to integrate the organizations now," Martin told Home of Fight on Thursday. "Our goal is we're going to be fully integrated, and we're going to see the brand change over for the product January 2027. For the rest of this year, we'll be crowning PFL champions. But obviously, we're already thinking like one company. Things will officially cross over with MVP on Jan. 1."
A lot of questions remain coming out of Thursday's announcement, but perhaps none bigger than that of where fight fans will be able to watch the events. MVP MMA held one event on Netflix in 2026, while PFL's deal with ESPN concludes at the end of the year, and renewal seems unlikely.
"I hope so," Martin said of Netflix. "There's not much I can say on that other than I think, whether it's Netflix or other broadcasters, I think this merger is going to catch a lot of attention. I think for anybody who wants to partner with us, to think through it with us about what are the real opportunities and the type of events we can put on now with the strength of the PFL roster, with the strength of the women's boxing MVP has, with the blockbuster live events that it's been successfully able to put on now – not once, twice, three times – but many times. Shares of ASML (NASDAQ: ASML) fell after technology publication The Information reported this week that an unnamed Chinese company backed by the Chinese government has begun manufacturing its own chip-making equipment. However, investors shouldn't be worried, as this is unlikely to hurt ASML's fortunes any time soon.
The machines reportedly being made in China are deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography machines. This is an older technology used to manufacture older chips and the less critical components of advanced chips. DUV machines are also used to manufacture ordinary DRAM and flash memory. The company is restricted from selling EUV and advanced DUV machines to China and is only allowed to sell older-technology systems to Chinese companies. As such, only about 14% of its sales came from the country last quarter. Meanwhile, there was already a bill in Congress set to prevent ASML from selling or servicing machines for the first three Chinese companies expected to receive these homegrown DUV machines, so this revenue was likely to be cut off regardless.

Despite not having a contract extension in hand, Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Puka Nacua has been a full participant at training camp, and on Wednesday, Nacua declared that holding out was never an option and that football is a "safe place" for him after he was involved in several off-field incidents.
While Nacua is a full-go for team activities, there has been little news about any movement regarding his contractual future. Nacua, who is set to be a free agent after this season, has been one of the NFL's best players since being drafted in 2023.
That was until NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said that the Rams and Nacua are unlikely to get a deal done before the regular season begins and that it's more probable that Nacua and the team will amp up talks next offseason. The reason is that the Rams want to see improvement from Nacua in his personal behavior.
"The Los Angeles Rams, really what they want to see from Puka Nacua is that he is in a better place this year than he was at any point last year," said Rapoport. "Not even talking about on the field. On the field, he is a superstar. He's one of the best, if not the best receiver in the NFL and certainly, just based on his play, deserves a huge contract.
"That's not really what this is about. This is about off the field. This is about him personally, and Puka Nacua mentioned some of it. His work with a therapist, going to rehab, taking accountability for some of the actions that he very well did last year in very public manner. Once again, Eddie Howe can be bracketed alongside two of Tyneside's favourite faces. This time, however, it is in less enviable fashion. Sir Bobby Robson and Kevin Keegan left Newcastle suddenly in late summers, decisions seemingly taken at the wrong time plunging them into transition and trouble. At least, unlike a couple of distinguished predecessors, Howe has gone before a season has started and not after a few games.
But it is less than four weeks before it begins, following a 4-1 friendly defeat to Bristol City, when it seems the team Howe built is falling apart. Howe was a transformative and a terrific Newcastle manager, but the danger is his five-year reign comes to be the anomaly in their recent history, a period of achievement surrounded by the underachievement.
Howe did something even Robson and Keegan could not and took a trophy to Tyneside: Newcastle's first since 1969, their first in English football in seven decades. Go back 17 months, to the day they won the Carabao Cup, and Howe was asked about getting his own statue at St James' Park. With characteristic modesty, he deflected the questions. Was he, he was asked, a legend? "We don't put ourselves in that bracket," he said. "We will let other people decide that when we are long gone."

As reported by AS, Fulham are closing in on the signing of Real Madrid youngster Cesar Palacios, with negotiations accelerating significantly over the past 24 hours.
An agreement is now believed to be close, with both clubs making rapid progress as they work to finalise the transfer.
Unlike the more complicated talks between the two clubs surrounding Gonzalo Garcia, Palacios' move is considered much simpler and could be completed first.
The structure of the deal is expected to mirror Real Madrid's increasingly common strategy with academy graduates.
Rather than sanctioning a full sale, the club's preferred option is to sell 50% of Palacios' economic rights while retaining significant control over his future.

As Wrexham unveiled their new 2026-27 home shirt while ringing the Nasdaq bell in New York's iconic Times Square, there was little doubt that the club's stock has never been higher.
Icons from the past such as Mickey Thomas, Steven Fletcher, Ben Tozer and Ben Foster were among those in The Big Apple proudly adorning the club's red jersey.
