Heading into the 2026 NFL season, Joe Brady is the NFL's youngest head coach at the ripe old age of 36. And while he has spent the past few years working with Josh Allen and directing one of the league's highest scoring offenses, Brady says his primary focus has always been on connecting with his players through his authentic, energetic approach to leadership.
"I never thought my identity was, 'I want to be a head coach,'" Brady told BuffaloBills.com. "I just wanted to call plays."
After spending time as Buffalo's quarterbacks coach (2022-23), interim offensive coordinator (2023) and offensive coordinator (2024-25), Brady realized he was ready to take on the challenge of being a head coach.

Cooper Kupp made the play of the game Wednesday night, pulling in an impressive one-handed catch during the third quarter of the Seattle Seahawks' season-opening win over the New England Patriots.
Seattle was trailing 10-0 when quarterback Drew Lock threw toward Kupp along the right sideline. Kupp tracked the pass, adjusted his position and stretched out with one hand to make the big reception. The grab gave the Seahawks a critical spark as they attempted to overcome the early deficit.
Kupp appeared to add a touchdown later in the game, catching a 7-yard pass in the end zone. However, the score was negated by a penalty, forcing Seattle to settle for a field goal and narrowing New England's advantage to 10-3.
The spectacular reception quickly became the game's defining highlight, showcasing Kupp's incredible athletic ability on the play while providing Seattle with momentum during its third-quarter comeback. The Seahawks went on to win the game by a score of 13-10.

Coco Gauff bested rising US star Iva Jovic on Monday to reach the quarter-finals of the US Open for the first time since winning the ****** le three years ago.
Gauff, seeded fourth this year, beat the 14th-seeded Jovic 6-1, 6-4 in 80 minutes.
The match marked a rare instance in which two-time Grand Slam champion Gauff, still only 22, faced a younger American in the 18-year-old Jovic, who pushed Gauff in the second set after being routed in the first.
"She plays beyond her years," Gauff said. "I'm looking to many more battles out here."
Gauff said she served "really well" and called the win, along with a second-round victory over Spain's Paula Badosa, her best matches so far this year.

Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has eased concerns over Jayden Meghoma after the defender was forced off during his side's win over Cardiff.
The Brentford loanee impressed on his Pompey debut before being replaced after 65 minutes.
But Mousinho confirmed the 20-year-old was suffering from cramp.
"Jayden was excellent," Mousinho told Portsmouth News. "He showed some really good glimpses in the first half of how he can drive away from players and what he gives you in the final third.
"The temptation is to say he's an attacking full-back, but he is very, very good defensively as well in the one-v-one.

Jaime Diaz believes that Rory McIlroy has only recently developed the skill Scottie Scheffler has had throughout his career with his ability to win while not at his best.
There is no question that the respectful rivalry between Scheffler and McIlroy has been a huge boost to the PGA Tour in recent years.
Scheffler has been the world's best player over the last four years, but McIlroy has been around the very top of the game for the best part of two decades now.
McIlroy is now a six-time major champion and one of only six male players in the history of the game to have completed the Career Grand Slam.
Scheffler is closing in on his tally, with four majors under his belt already. He is also only a US Open victory away from becoming a Grand Slam winner himself.

If you're trying to predict an NFL team's end-of-season record, the wrong way to do it is to bring up the schedule and pick results of each game. You simply can't hope to predict stuff that well, and you'd be better served finding a method that ******* igns a percent chance of winning each game, adding up those percentages and converting it to a win/loss record. Going game-by-game is silly.
But that's what I'm doing.
Because of that opening paragraph, what follows isn't betting advice. It is just a look at the schedule for each NFL team in 2026 and how things might shape up for them this season. Below, check out the 2026 week-by-week results for each NFL team with some thoughts on their outlook.

The visitors managed to pull a goal back after 80 minutes through Jack Arnold.

With the NFL preseason all wrapped up, it's time for teams to cut down their rosters to just 53. From 90, it's inevitable that players will find themselves on the outside looking in or, at the very least, on the practice squad with room to improve and be signed at any time.
Former Florida State quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei was one such player today and was waived by the Los Angeles Chargers after losing out on the backup job to former third-overall pick Trey Lance, per Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.
Uiagalelei, who had a productive college career with the Clemson Tigers and Oregon State Beavers, was an undrafted free agent in 2025. In college, he threw for 9,384 passing yards and 61 touchdowns. He was a solid rusher as well, netting another 1,124 yards and 21 touchdowns.
He appeared in three preseason NFL games this season, throwing for 341 yards and two touchdowns with a 57.1% completion percentage.
At Florida State, Uiagalelei threw for 1,065 yards and four touchdowns before a finger injury took him out of action in the fifth game of the season.

Pittsburgh's preseason ended in heartbreak Thursday night, as the Buffalo Bills scored late to beat the Steelers 28-27 at Highmark Stadium. Head coach Mike McCarthy watched his roster compete one final time before decision day arrived.
By Friday afternoon, the mood inside the building turned serious, and the first wave of cuts landed hard. What happens next will shape how Pittsburgh's sideline looks in Week 1.
The Pittsburgh Steelers released 11 players Friday, their first move in what will be a busy weekend of roster decisions. The team must reach the 53-man limit, and multiple reports indicate the front office has until Sunday at 8 p.m. ET to finish the job.
The August 28 list included tight end Jaheim Bell, offensive linemen Greg Crippen and Jaylon Guilbeau, and defensive backs Jack Henderson, Brandon Hill and Daryl Porter. Wide receivers Jakobie Keeney-James, Tamon Lynum, Cornell Powell and Isaiah Winstead were also let go, along with running back Alex Tecza.

For those who stayed up well into Saturday morning to watch the opener of this Orioles-Athletics series, well, I wouldn't exactly say you witnessed an instant classic. There was a whole lot of silly baseball going on. Baserunning blunders. Defensive butchery. Inexplicable managerial decisions. The Orioles couldn't score more than two runs in regulation against the league's worst pitching staff, and let a late lead slip away.
But in the end, Coby Mayo and Christian Encarnacion-Strand saved the Orioles' bacon with back-to-back RBI singles in the top of the 10th, and Alex Hoppe hung on in the bottom half for his first career save, bringing a happy ending to an often bewildering game. To quote Camden Chat commenter Knightley: "This game was so stupid, but at least we won."
If you were expecting the Orioles to storm into Sacramento and easily put away the third-worst team in baseball, well, you don't know the Orioles. Every game seems to be a struggle for the Birds, no matter the quality of the opponent. You might think that the O's, after scoring 26 runs in three games in St. Louis, could at least keep up their offensive momentum against an awful Athletics pitching staff, whose 5.75 ERA entering the game was the worst in the American League. Again, you'd be wrong.
In the first nine innings against these supposedly atrocious A's pitchers, the Orioles scored two (2) runs. That's it. Both came in a weird top of the second inning against Athletics starter Jacob Lopez. The lefty's first pitch drilled Coby Mayo in the shoulder, and later he walked Leody Taveras on four pitches. With two down, Dylan Beavers — starting against a lefty for only the fifth time this year — delivered a clutch hit, roping an RBI single to right to plate Mayo with the game's first run.
Then things went haywire. Carlos Narváez tapped a 43-mph dribbler down the first base line. It should have been a simple task for Lopez to simply pick the ball up and tag out Narváez on his way to first, but somehow the A's hurler let the ball pop out of his glove, then collided with Narváez in the baseline, leading to visits from both team's trainers (both players stayed in). Taveras scored on the error, extending the O's lead to 2-0.

Williams team principal James Vowles has admitted the Grove outfit must shoulder some of the blame for the late-race collision between Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz at the Dutch Grand Prix.
During a chaotic race at Zandvoort, won by McLaren's Lando Norris, the two Williams drivers came together on track while battling outside the points-paying positions.
Speaking in the team's post-race video debrief, The Vowles Verdict, the Williams boss addressed the frustrating incident.
"As you saw, Alex and Carlos came together on track," Vowles explained. "There's a lot of questions around whose fault it is, whose isn't it? I'll start with this. I think with our two drivers, both have a responsibility to not hit each other.
"It's hard to do it as a majority to one or the other, but both have a culpability in that. This particular circumstance, actually, I think we as a team have a culpability."

Torino have finally secured Lucas Perri from Leeds United on loan for €1m with option to buy for €14m, but Marcus Pedersen is heading to Olympiacos for a total €8m.
The deal for Perri seems to have dragged on for months, as the clubs had a basic agreement in place as far back as July.
However, Leeds did not give him permission to leave until they were first sure that his replacement was locked down and in place.

Undrafted free agent (UDFA) Trebor Pena went into training camp looking to make a strong impression on the Jacksonville Jaguars coaching staff, something that he has likely done up to this point.
That said, he still faces an uphill battle when it comes to making the final roster. The wide receiver room is already crowded, with six roster spots — Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers, Parker Washington, Travis Hunter, Josh Cameron, and CJ Williams — accounted for.
Pena would need to convince the Jaguars to roster a seventh wide receiver, which, admittedly, would help bolster the overall depth. With Hunter playing primarily on defense this season, it would give them more weapons to utilize, not just in receiving, but also in run blocking and on special teams.
But even if Jacksonville does choose to roster a seventh receiver, Pena has to get past other hopefuls to win out, with Austin Trammell likely his biggest competition.
Over the last two weeks, Pena's stock has skyrocketed, as he has turned in two impressive performances that have been recognized by Pro Football Focus (PFF) not just once, but twice.

The last time Maryland men's soccer stepped foot on Ludwig Field was to take on the Washington Huskies in the quarterfinals of the College Cup. The Terps left in disbelief after suffering a shocking 3-1 defeat on their home turf that abruptly ended their season.
Maryland men's soccer looked to flush the bad taste out of their mouth in their home opener against the New Haven Chargers Monday, and it did so in a wild 3-2 victory.
Following a steady 45 minutes of play from the Chargers, the Terps found themselves down one after a turbulent first half. In the second half, both teams came out firing on all cylinders by scoring a combined four goals in the span of six minutes.
Henry Bernstein scored the Terps' first goal in the 51st minute off a wild deflection that bounced off the Chargers' Felipe Lemos and into the net, tying the game at one. Less than two minutes later, Dominic Ayella scored his first goal for Maryland off a perfect cross from Dennis Kalanzi.
The freshman duo gave the Terps their first lead of the game, but it was short-lived, as the Chargers drew a corner and scored in the 56th minute. Lorenzo Garbarino soared into the box and placed a well located header on a spinning ball that found the back of the net.

LANCASTER – Lancaster senior volleyball player Zoe DeLeon and her senior teammates had somewhat of a rude awakening when Leslie Davenport was named the new head coach.
Davenport has brought a different mentality, as far as making players work harder, holding them more accountable, and most importantly, not accepting losing.
Not that the program was downtrodden by any means, but it needed a jolt, and that is exactly what Davenport has brought to the program.
"Coach has brought a competitiveness, and she gives it to us straight," DeLeon said. "She holds us accountable. She has us working harder in practice, and it has transferred over to the game. There was a difference at the beginning when she took over, and it took time to get used to, but once we saw the outcome, it makes us want to work even harder."

RB Leipzig are edging closer to bringing Christopher Nkunku back to the club, with Bild reporting that the attacker's proposed move from AC Milan is now "almost complete".
While AC Milan would prefer to sell the Frenchman, the Serie A side have reportedly opened the door to the loan move Leipzig are aiming for.
Nkunku could provide a much-needed boost to Leipzig's attack as the Bundesliga club look to fill the void left by Yan Diomande's move to Real Madrid.
The Frenchman recorded 126 goal contributions in 172 appearances for Leipzig between 2019 and 2023, before joining Chelsea.
After struggling to live up to expectations in London, Nkunku moved to Milan last summer.

It looks as if Jake Bobo's fourth season with the Seattle Seahawks is already over.
The fan favorite wide receiver and special teams contributor suffered what was described as a "bad-looking leg injury" during Friday's joint practice with the Tennessee ****** ans in Nashville. He was carted off after awkwardly landing on a catch attempt, and barring some very favorable imaging, that will be his last action on the field this year.
"Our heart goes out to Jake Bobo," Mike Macdonald said after practice. "Seems like it's going to be a serious knee, we're going to get it imaged, but early returns—looks like it's a long-term injury. So that's unfortunate."
Bobo re-signed with the Seahawks on a two-year deal after matching the Jacksonville Jaguars' restricted free agent offer sheet. He's functioned as the fourth or fifth option at wide receiver, doing a lot of the dirty work as a blocker and in kick and punt return coverage. His NFC Championship touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams was his only score all season and it helped Seattle get to the Super Bowl.
In all likelihood, Bobo would've played the Sunday preseason game against the ****** ans, having played the first half of last week's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Unfortunately, it appears as if the next time we see Bobo will be 2027.

On Wednesday, WDRB's Eric Crawford reported that many power conference commissioners voiced their opinions on the court rulings allowing the class of 2022 athletes another year of eligibility and the opportunity to transfer.
Among the commissioners, the SEC's Greg Sankey was firm in his stance on the matter. The commissioners of the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Big East, and Pac-12 also all joined together against the court case in Kentucky.
"Their joint declaration was among documents filed Tuesday in Jefferson Circuit Court, where Judge Brian Edwards is considering a request from 13 athletes seeking another season of NCAA eligibility," Crawford wrote.
The biggest concern among the commissioners is that the return of the athletes would create "significant roster instability" for the schools and across the sports. This stance by these conference leaders greatly affects Kentucky because Kentucky's 5-for-5target, Mark Mitchell, is in this group of athletes fighting for another year and the ability to transfer.
In a nutshell, Sankey is doing his best to prevent Mitchell from transferring to Kentucky.

A College Football Playoff appearance has led to a significant pay raise for Oklahoma coach Brent Venables.
Per ESPN, Venables and Oklahoma have agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2031 season. As part of the contract, Venables will have an average salary of $10.5 million over the remaining six years of his deal.
Oklahoma went 10-3 in 2025 and made the playoff for the first time since the 2019 season. The Sooners beat Tennessee, Alabama, Missouri and LSU in November to earn a layoff spot before losing 34-24 to the Tide in the first round of the postseason.
It was a four-win jump for Oklahoma from a 6-7 season in its first season in the SEC.
According to USA Today's coaching salary database, Venables made just over $7.5 million in 2025 and was the 23rd-highest paid coach in the country just behind Washington's Jedd Fisch and ahead of former Florida coach Billy Napier.

Atlético de Madrid and Aston Villa have officially confirmed the signing of Matteo Ruggeri.
The left-back leaves the red-and-white side just one season after arriving in the Spanish capital.
The Italian leaves around €20 million at Atleti, a fee close to what they paid to sign him from Atalanta.
Grimaldo's arrival had reduced the 'azzurro's' chances, and the club had been looking for an exit for him.
He will now embark on a new adventure in the Premier League under Unai Emery. Zion Suzuki, the goalkeeper arriving from Parma, will follow the same path.

James Laws went close to doubling the lead 25 minutes later before Will Fazakerley and Callum Le Lacheur had chances for the Green Lions as they went into the break a goal down.

A group led by José E. Feliciano and Kwanza Jones agreed to buy the San Diego Padres for a record $3.9 billion in May of this year. The sale has now been formally approved by the other owners.
The Seidler family announced their plans to explore a sale of the San Diego Padres in late 2025. Since the passing of Peter Seidler in 2023, this had seemed like a real possibility.
Earlier in 2026, news broke that an agreement had been reached to sell the team to an investor group led by José E. Feliciano and Kwanza Jones for a record $3.9 billion.
Even after an agreement, there is a lengthy process before a franchise sale can be completed. And now, it seems the final hurdle has been crossed.

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Missouri fans and fans across the country.
Mizzou Football will be looking to improve the passing game in a big way this upcoming season. Ole Miss transfer quarterback Austin Simmons will look to lead the way for what is hopefully a new and improved Missouri offense this year under coordinator Chip Lindsey.
Simmons will have plenty of weapons at the wide receiver position to work with as Mizzou brought in some key transfers. That includes his former Rebel teammate Cayden Lee — who is coming off of a productive juni0r season with Ole Miss — contributing for 44 receptions, 635 yards, and three touchdowns. Can Simmons and Lee establish their chemistry this season?
Cincinnati transfer Caleb Goodie is another name to watch — who had 29 receptions, 484 yards, and two touchdowns last season with the Bearcats. Goodie's biggest strength is his speed. Will he be able to use YAC (yards after catch) to his advantage?
Donovan Olugbode headlines Mizzou's returning wide receiver core after a productive freshman campaign — contributing for 30 receptions, 401 yards, and two touchdowns. Is a "Luther Burden type" sophomore season in store for him?

Newcastle United has spent much of the summer rebuilding their goalkeeping rotation and their midfield, but Matthias Jaissle still needs defensive reinforcements with the Premier League opener against Liverpool rapidly approaching and depth at the back remaining an issue.
A potential opportunity that has been there for weeks on end has now reemerged from Italy, where Newcastle is reportedly among the Premier League clubs interested in AC Milan center back Fikayo Tomori. It's worth noting that The Athletic, however, refuted the reports on the Magpies' interest in Tomori at the end of July, so it's up to you to determine who you believe.
Now, both Quotidiano Sportivo's Luca Mignani and talkSPORT are reporting that the 28-year-old is increasingly likely to leave Milan before the transfer deadline, with the Serie A side having made him available.
"Now the main suspect in packing his bags is Fikayo Tomori: he was on the bench for the entire match against Chelsea, tied to the club until next June, with no renewal in sight," Mignani reported.
"AC Milan have reportedly made Fikayo Tomori available for sale ahead of the final weeks of the transfer window," talkSPORT reported. "Tomori is currently heading into his seventh season at San Siro having first joined on loan from boyhood club Chelsea in January 2021."

When we look back to February of this year, the Maryland Charm were the first team to be knocked out of the Championship Series. A few short months after that, they were heading into the first-ever full season of the WLL, and their worth was questioned. But it was never a question within their own locker room.
We doubted Maryland. Combining their struggles to win at the Championship Series and many of their newly drafted players missing from training camp in April, our Power Rankings continued to list the Charm fourth of four teams leading into the start of the season.
But who doesn't love a good "prove people wrong" story?
The Maryland Charm were crowned the inaugural and 2026 Women's Lacrosse League champions after an emphatic 16-13 win over the California Palms on Saturday in Philadelphia.
If we look back at post-Championship Series press conference statements by Charm star midfielder Ally Kennedy and lead goalkeeper Caylee Waters, this inaugural championship run starts to make sense.
