Maybe it's a me thing, but I've been craving the thrill and suspense of an award show. Luckily, tonight is the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, where NBC's Law & Order star Mariska Hargitay is hosting live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. As a self-proclaimed binge-watcher, I'm all caught up on tonight's nominees, led by The Pitt with 25 nominations and Hacks at 24, breaking the record for a comedy series to date. But it's not just the potential winners getting buzz; it's the red carpet arrivals, too.
We're tuning in to see which designers tonight's attendees are wearing and get a glimpse of which trends will define 2027—or, in this case, which controversial trends. Shailene Woodley, who won her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Hulu's Paradise last week, arrived on tonight's red carpet in a look from Pierpaolo Piccioli's Balenciaga F/W 26 haute couture collection.
The trend in question? Sequin-embroidered trousers. Woodley wore the divisive pants with their runway pairing, a plunging periwinkle tank, but traded the oversize coat for a pair of burgundy opera gloves. Woodley's stylist, Karla Welch, introduced more color with a beautiful collared necklace crafted from Venetian glass by HOWL. The flooded hem hides Woodley's, I ***** ume, very tall heels.

This is certainly the case for 58-year-old Canadian singer Celine Dion, who has debuted a series of frivolous and fun looks ahead of her comeback concert on September 12.

The singer – known for hit Nineties power ballads including My Heart Will Go On and It's All Coming Back To Me – will perform 10 shows over five weeks at the Paris La Défense Arena, after taking a six-year break due to ill health. She suffers from a rare neurological condition, Stiff Person Syndrome, which causes stiff muscles in the arms, legs and torso, and can be extremely painful. At one point, the syndrome made it difficult for Dion to sing.
Following years of treatment, Dion is now ready to perform again. And her attitude to fashion proves it, as she's showcased a variety of different sartorial personalities in the run up – from tailoring with jeans, to the classic "little black dress".

But the two women did see each other once, across a nightclub table, and Burstyn has been carrying the moment around for the better part of six decades.

A TikTok creator who went viral for claiming she lived with both her ex-husband and current husband in the same townhouse says she's divorced again.
The TikToker (meganinthe.middle) announced the news in a video entitled "I went viral for living with my ex-husband and current husband in the same home… and now I'm divorced again". The woman decided to update new fans on her situation and her account.
"Okay, so for those of you who don't know who I am, I'm the girl that went viral, like, two years ago for living with her ex-husband and her current husband in the same townhome," she said. "This townhome that I'm currently still living in. And now I am since divorced again for the second time. And I thought I would just introduce myself to some of the new friends that we have on the page that are just now joining in and following along. That is where it all started two years ago. This is where we're at now."
It turned out the two men no longer live with her or with each other.
"My son's dad lives in California. My dot. My dot. ****** o. My daughter's dad lives, like, 10 minutes down the road. And my first ex-husband, who is my daughter's dad, lives down the road; his name is Tyler. My second ex-husband, who lives in California, is my son's dad; his name is Michael."

Melissa Barrera, who starred in the 2022 and 2023 movies of the "Scream" series as well as in "In the Heights," was fired from her role in the upcoming sequel of the movie by Spyglass Media Group in November 2023. The decision was made because of Instagram posts in which Melissa condemned the actions of Israel in Gaza, calling them genocide and ethnic cleansing and demanding peace. At the same time, Melissa left her talent agency.
During the recent interview on the public radio show "Latino USA," Melissa Barrera said that the decision to fire her from the role was part of a larger plan to silence the criticism of the war.
"It's hard to comprehend, but it's also not the first time that that has happened to someone, and it won't be the last. There are a lot of people that got fired for basically saying Palestinians deserve human rights, and they shouldn't be getting bombed and attacked in this way. And it's sad to me that there are interests that are more important to certain people of power and money, and that they don't care about people's lives and that they will do everything they can to shut people up from saying that people deserve to live, that children deserve to grow up," she said.

Valerie Bertinelli found a forgotten strip of film frames while decluttering her home, and the discovery sent her followers straight into preservation mode.
The 66-year-old actor shared a close-up of two color frames showing her younger self posing in black lingerie and strappy heels around a chair. Bertinelli referred to the find as "negatives" in her Instagram caption and said she had completely forgotten she had them.

Usually, black gowns on the red carpet need better lighting to do their details justice. Here, thankfully, the intricate textures and movement created by the fringing are visible enough for us to appreciate the craftsmanship.

It's always good to have a backup plan, but having a backup outfit can truly prepare you for anything.
When Princess Diana walked down the aisle on July 29, 1981, the world saw one of the most iconic wedding gowns in history. What no one knew was that another dress was waiting behind the scenes just in case disaster struck.
Designed by husband-and-wife duo David and Elizabeth Emanuel, the secret gown was created as an insurance policy while the now-famous wedding dress was being finished. "I was a bit neurotic," Elizabeth Emanuel previously told PEOPLE. "I thought, 'What happens if somebody breaks in and steals the dress or something spills or there's a fire?' So I thought, 'I'm going to make a backup dress.'"
Unlike Diana's legendary ivory silk taffeta dress with its record-breaking 25-foot train, the spare design was noticeably different. It featured slimmer sleeves, white silk instead of ivory, and a much shorter train. It also was never fully completed because, fortunately, it was never needed.
Perhaps the biggest surprise? Diana had no idea it even existed. According to Emanuel, she and David intentionally kept the project a secret so they wouldn't add unnecessary stress to the bride ahead of one of the most watched weddings in history.
