On August 6, Corvus Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:CRVS) held its second-quarter 2026 earnings call, and the story was almost entirely about one molecule. Soquelitinib, the company's oral ITK inhibitor, is now being tested across five different diseases at once, from a rare blood cancer to asthma. That kind of breadth from a single-asset biotech is either a sign of real conviction in the science or a company spreading itself thin before it has proven anything. The quarter's numbers and trial updates offer evidence for both readings.
The clearest bright spot is atopic dermatitis. In the highest-dose cohort of a Phase 1 trial, presented at the Society for Investigative Dermatology meeting, 75% of soquelitinib patients hit EASI-75 after 8 weeks of 200 milligram twice-daily dosing, versus 20% of patients on placebo. A quarter of treated patients reached EASI-90, and a third achieved clear or almost-clear skin, outcomes no placebo patient matched. Management also pointed to something more unusual: the benefit persisted after dosing stopped, without the rebound seen with other drugs in the class.
Corvus is carrying that data into a roughly 200-patient Phase 2 trial, called SEERA-1, with enrollment set to finish in early 2027 and results due the following quarter. The company's finances give it room to run. It ended the quarter with $215 million in cash and marketable securities, up from $56.8 million at the end of 2025, largely thanks to $189 million raised in a Q1 follow-on offering, enough to fund operations into the second quarter of 2028.
That cash cushion exists because Corvus is spending a lot more than it used to. R&D costs jumped to $16 million in the quarter from $7.9 million a year earlier, and the net loss more than doubled to $18 million from $8 million, driven by higher trial costs and added headcount tied to soquelitinib. The company remains a one-drug story in practice, and its most advanced program, a Phase 3 trial in relapsed or refractory peripheral T-cell lymphoma, will not offer a public readout soon.
An independent committee is expected to run a futility ***** ysis around the first quarter of 2027, with no data released publicly at that time. Much of the atopic dermatitis story outside the US also runs through Angel Pharmaceuticals, a China-based partner in which Corvus just put another $5 million as part of a $13.5 million financing round. That trial's first cohort of 24 patients is not expected to finish enrolling until September, meaning part of the bull case still sits ahead of the company.

The college football season is quickly approaching, and soon a new quest for the College Football Playoffs will begin. The defending champions, the Indiana Hoosiers, will look to defend their incredible **** le run.
Head coach Curt Cignetti's run with Indiana was one for the ages. However, a familiar face is already casting doubt on their **** le defense.
Paul Finebaum was on SportsCenter, and when the topic of Indiana's ranking came up, he didn't hold back. In fact, he painted the whole picture as clearly as it can be.

"That's where they were picked last year in the Big 10 … So, they are moving on up after a perfect season. They're exactly where they should be for this reason. Everybody in front of them has a starting quarterback. And if Indiana had its starting quarterback, number one," Finebaum said.

Now that we're in August, training camps are in full swing, and the NFL is about to start its next regular season. Depth charts will shuffle, waivers will be used, and it will all lead to new visions for teams in development.
Until then, we get to look at some more power rankings before all that shuffling begins. The latest we are looking at is from ESPN, which takes a unique spin by giving future power rankings that project teams out over the next couple of years.
They discussed several topic and stories related to the teams coming out of the rankings. While they ranked the Vikings 18th in the piece, they also discussed a reason as to why Vikings fans should be hopeful for the future. According to ESPN's Ben Solak, it comes down to the coaching staff.
He writes, "They have elite coaches. Kevin O'Connell remains one of the league's preeminent schemers, and his history of elevating quarterback talent bodes well. On the defensive side, Brian Flores is the most unique playcaller in the NFL; his blitz-happy approach consistently puts the best offensive schemers on their backfoot. It's hard to imagine a bad long-term future with both of those coaches secured."
The Vikings have almost two head coaches on the staff at the moment due to having Flores there still. He is deserving of another head coaching chance, but the Vikings will enjoy their spoilment of riches. Also, not to be forgotten, offensive coordinator Wes Phillips and special teams coordinator Matt Daniels, who also deserve praise.

When I set out to write an NFL betting piece this weekend, I thought the topic would be the alt win-total market. I was going to explain what binomial distribution is and why it does not properly apply to win-total markets, creating some deviation that is worth exploiting.
However, when I looked at alt win-total markets for every team in both the over and under direction, the price was a ripoff. The books have adjusted those markets, therefore the tricks and tools once used to win can no longer be reasonably good advice. I looked at my own betting log and saw that I've only placed one alt win-total bet over the last three years (and it was in the NBA).
While plenty of alt win-total lines are going to win this season, honing in on the ones where the true probability exceeds the implied probability of the odds felt unreasonable given the prices. In fact, where the edges can be identified, there are probably more advantageous angles to attack with the same premise. So instead of forcing it, I shifted focus to season-long player props. Here are four season-long prop lines I really like.

Placing this bet pains me a little bit. I am such a big Robinson fan, and I started the offseason pretty bullish on the Atlanta Falcons.

Barcelona's squad is now filled with World Champions, and the Blaugrana will soon announce the arrival of Rodri to further lengthen the list.
One more player who could have had the same tag is Fermin Lopez, and the player was even set to be part of the Spanish contingent for the World Cup.
A last-minute fracture to his metatarsal, however, turned his world upside down as he was forced to stay in Catalonia and watch his compatriots make history without him.
Fermin is now back fit and raring to go, but it is clear that missing out on the chance of a lifetime will stick with him for a while.
In a recent interview with ARA, the Barcelona star opened up in depth about the new season and what he expects from the club over the next year. He also touched on several personal topics and sporting issues at the club.

The Cincinnati Bengals have spent the bulk of the offseason upgrading toward the idea of getting back into the playoffs and contending.
But other accolades come with such a push, including major award chances for the likes of Joe Burrow.
That's a topic that made the rounds recently at ESPN, with Mina Kimes and Ben Solak attempting to predict next year's award winners and providing some pretty interesting thoughts on Burrow in the process.
Bengals fans will find themselves nodding along with the commentary, especially when Solak noted that the MVP award is all about narratives and Kimes highlighted some positives for the Bengals.
"My feeling about Burrow was this—one, he's never won it," Kimes said. "…I just feel that, everything is in place. There's no contract drama with the wide receivers."

What began as light summertime reading is now among the things Bruce Feldman is best known for.
The longtime college football writer's annual Freaks List is something most sports fans look forward to. Since 2005, he has highlighted premier athletes. It's not necessarily the best pro prospects, though many do make the list; rather, it's the freakiest. Players come from all levels, not just FBS schools. We recently caught up with Feldman, the national college football insider for The Athletic, to discuss his Freaks List and other topics.

The WNBA is gaining attention for all the wrong reasons, especially as of late. However, despite those issues, the league continues to bring in more viewership, revenue, attendance and intrigue. This past weekend, Ric Bucher added another layer to the WNBA's attention-grabbing news cycle. The former ESPN NBA **** yst raised a question that many people have asked privately within their own circles of friends: Why are all the color **** ysts and studio hosts on national WNBA broadcasts women?
Unfortunately for Bucher, his question is nothing new. It's the same question people have been asking about women in the NFL, MLB and nearly every other major sport for generations. But Bucher's context for asking the question is where the real debate and questions lie.
As much as people love a good headline, this isn't a debate about men versus women on WNBA broadcasts. It's a conversation more about how networks approach controversial topics surrounding the games and leagues themselves.
If you look at the totality of Bucher's words, his argument wasn't centered around that the WNBA doesn't include men. His argument was that the women in the roles they currently hold are too protective of the league itself.
"Is the WNBA not worthy of being discussed and dissected by a variety of voices and perspectives in the same way the NBA is? There are some smart basketball-savvy women, both in the studio and the broadcast booth, but I don't hear a whole lot of differing opinion or debate. It all comes off as safe and monotone and cookie cutter, especially when it comes to controversial topics," said Bucher.

Pittsburgh — Max Clark and some of the other Detroit Tigers rookies went to dinner in Pittsburgh Sunday night. The topic quickly turned to the one thing they all have in common right now — the vagaries, nuances and challenges of transitioning and adjusting to big-league pitching.
"We were talking about how it's just insane how quickly the league transitions," Clark said. "It's not week by week. It's literally series by series."
It didn't take the league long to see that Clark, when he first came up, was susceptible to high-velocity fastballs and he was seeing a healthy dose of them. Going into Monday, 72.4% of the pitches he'd seen were heaters, four-seamers or sinkers.
He was hitting .227 on the four-seamers and .267 on the sinkers.
So imagine Cleveland right-hander Tanner Bibee's surprise last Tuesday when Clark laced a 93.6 mph heater for a single with an exit velocity of 103.6 mph. Later in the game he smoked another fastball to the track.

After Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham ignited nationwide conversation about whether or not transgender women should play in women's sports, perhaps the most prominent transgender woman on the planet has broken her silence on the issue.
During a recent interview with Fox News, former Olympic gold medalist turned reality star Caitlyn Jenner has offered her take on the debate, expressing a desire to "protect women's sports" as former NBA players Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White make a mockery of the league by trying to declare themselves eligible for the WNBA due to the league's gender policy.
Weeks after Cunningham ignited widespread conversation about whether or not transgender women should be eligible to play in the WNBA, the league issued a statement last week indicating that the conversation about the issue would continue, but no decision had been made about its eligibility rules.
"Today's meeting covered a wide range of topics, including ongoing discussions on transgender athletes and the continued hate and vitriol directed at players online. We will continue to engage all league stakeholders in the coming weeks and months. We will approach these important conversations thoughtfully and in alignment with the values of our league. There are no immediate eligibility matters affecting the WNBA and we strongly denounce the bad-faith efforts to use these topics to demean or marginalize others," the league said in a statement via ESPN.
This statement came after Kanter Freedom and White declared themselves eligible for the WNBA.

It was just a normal Tuesday in our nation's capital. Washington Commanders training camp was underway. The Nationals were set to host the Chicago Cubs for a three-game series. Thus, Andy Pollin was doing what he's done for the last seven years at ESPN 630: being the guiding voice of the D.C. sports fan in the late morning, discussing the headlines and topics fans cared about.
However, that normal Tuesday took a turn immediately following Pollin's signing off from another day of programming.
"As I was wrapping up the show, the station manager came inside the studio. Which he's done in the past often with a smile and a compliment on the show. I could tell by the look on his face that wasn't it," explains Pollin. "He said he didn't want to do this, but it came from ***** ulus."
In an instant, Pollin went from wrapping up another Tuesday in D.C. to having his time at ESPN 630 come to an end. He found himself part of the nationwide ***** ulus Media layoffs that had already begun a week earlier.
During the first week of cuts, Pollin was on vacation, observing the headlines circulating in radio trades and on social media. When he returned from vacation, Pollin says he texted station ***** istant program director Mike Callow to see if he had heard whether Pollin should plan on hosting programs this past week. With no signs of impending cuts, Pollin moved forward as if it were a normal week.

What is a conflict of interest anymore when it comes to play-by-play broadcasting? Last year, this was one of the more debated topics in sports media. Now, it has new life. Friday, the NFL announced that the "Tom Brady Rules" will also apply to ESPN Monday Night Football ****** yst Troy Aikman.
Tom Brady is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. He also is the lead ****** yst for FOX Sports NFL coverage. The rules, at first, were simple. He couldn't enter another team's facility or observe its practices. He also couldn't publicly criticize officials or other teams, and he couldn't attend broadcast production meetings either in person or virtually. Last year, good behavior by Brady — and likely some pressure from FOX Sports — relaxed the rules on Brady. This year, the rules extend to Troy Aikman.
But the NFL's explanation for why the extension to Aikman makes me wonder who these rules protect in the first place.
This past offseason, Aikman ****** isted the Miami Dolphins with hiring a new general manager and head coach. During a podcast episode featuring former WFAA sports anchor Dale Hansen, Aikman said his role with the Dolphins was approved by Commissioner Roger Goodell. He has also stated that he sees a day when he could be working for an NFL franchise in some capacity.
The two situations are different. Brady owns a minority stake, so he's financially invested in the success of a franchise. Aikman loaned his services but doesn't have a financial stake in the Miami Dolphins' success.

Hunter Tipton spoke to the media on Saturday after practice, and he discussed multiple topics from his new Memphis tattoo to the ongoing quarterback competition.
Tipton joined the Tigers in the offseason after spending the 2025 season at Middle Tennessee. The Blue Raiders were his fourth school in four years after playing at two JUCOs before making the jump to the Division I level.
Tipton started his career at Tyler Junior College, where he appeared in only three games, before he transferred to Northeast Oklahoma A&M. After two years at the JUCO level, Tipton transferred to Louisiana Tech, where he played in six games and finished with 23 yards on five receptions.
He entered the transfer portal again and landed at Middle Tennessee and had a breakout season. The tight end finished the season with 411yards and two touchdowns on 39 receptions.

Patriots Reportedly Have 'Clear-Cut' WR2 Amid Kayshon Boutte Rumors originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
It's not crazy to say that the New England Patriots, if they decide to move on from Kayshon Boutte, could be moving on from their second-best wide receiver.
While some don't believe that, it's an interesting topic to follow. The idea of moving on isn't because the Patriots can't use him, but more so because they made some really impressive moves at the wide receiver position during the offseason, and other guys might be able to step up if he gets dealt.
According to the latest report, the WR2 spot already has an obvious candidate to win the job, and it's former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs.
Doubs was drafted in the fourth round with the 132nd pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by Green Bay and has impressed throughout the first four seasons of his career.

Last summer, Representative Sara Jacobs would run up to her office to give herself injections of hormones before rushing back to Congress for a session with her fellow lawmakers.
The shots were for the second round of freezing her eggs, a medical procedure that can give women more time to have children.

"Your body hurts. Your hormones are crazy. It's kind of like ****** rty and menopause at the same time," she said.
Jacobs announced she was beginning the egg freezing process in 2021, at a time where she said few lawmakers were discussing the topic in the halls of Congress. Head coaches of major college football programs are rarely happy. There is always something to improve on, and Oregon's Dan Lanning is also this way. But after the team's first scrimmage of the fall camp preceding the 2026 season, Lanning sounded like a confident coach who knows that while there is still work to be done, he has a special group on his hands capable of doing some pretty special things this year.
Lanning touched on a variety of topics following this latest scrimmage, such as staying healthy, making sure those special teams are indeed special and the progress of some of those young freshmen who could play an important role right away for the Ducks.
The season is just three Saturdays away with Boise State kicking off this year's schedule. But Oregon isn't preparing for the Broncos just yet. Right now, it's just getting themselves ready for the season, locking down some details and getting ready for a grueling season that awaits the Ducks.
Here is everything Lanning had to say to the media after Oregon's scrimmage that was closed off to the press and public alike.
Dan Lanning: All right. Overall, good scrimmage. The thing you're always hoping for as a coach in this moment is you want to test physicality, the ability to tackle and break tackles, but you also want to walk away healthy. We were able to do that today. Some overall really good reps from both sides of the ball got to do a better job when it comes to ball security at times. Got to clean up some special teams play to make sure we're able to get the kicks that we need to be able to get. But overall, that's a solid performance. Got to go back and evaluate the film. I told our players there are really two things we're looking for when we grade a scrimmage. Are you accountable and are you capable? Right? Do you do your job when you're asked to do your job, and are you capable of doing the job we ask you to do? If you're not, then you're going to get limited reps. If you do, then you'll continue to grow on this team. So those are the things we're going to evaluate as we watch the film.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart made it clear he has little interest in revisiting a familiar topic.
After leaving the Giants' preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings, the second-year quarterback hinted to NBC's Bruce Beck that his latest trip to the blue medical tent was unnecessary.
"I'm not going to talk too much about the tent," he said.
The comment came after Dart was sent to the blue medical tent late in the first quarter. On second-and-10, Vikings safety Jay Ward blitzed untouched when running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. missed his **** ignment. Ward delivered a crushing hit that flattened Dart, primarily to the torso. Dart got up slowly and was immediately evaluated.
He missed only a couple of snaps before returning. On his first play back, Dart scrambled left and found rookie wide receiver Malachi Fields for a 15-yard touchdown that gave the Giants a 7-3 lead. Dart finished 3-of-4 for 26 yards in limited action.

The most debated topic in all of football, or so it seems, is the competition for the Browns quarterback position. Saturday was another step toward answering that question.
In the Browns' preseason loss to the Bears, both players got an opportunity to show where they are. The Bears didn't play any of their starters in the first half, and in the second half, the Browns were down a lot of their depth pieces.
The playing field was never level; even so, there are some important takeaways.
Deshaun Watson was scheduled to get the entire first half, and he got off on a really strong start. After Cleveland went three-and-out in their first possession, the offense opened up.
Watson showed some arm strength, connecting well with KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston. One of his best plays of the first half came on 3rd and four; he checked into a nice man-beating concept and delivered a great throw to Harold Fannin Jr. against the blitz, but Fannin dropped it.

The debate over transgender women competing in elite women's sports has descended into a full-blown political firestorm.
The latest instigator was a now-viral interview by Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, who told ESPN in a July 21 article that she wants to "protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men."
The weeks that followed have been packed with political posturing, protests and provocative talk-show fodder, much of it aimed at dividing people much more than to actually support women's sports.
Amid the tension, a pair of former NBA players — Royce White and ex-Knicks center Enes Kanter Freedom — announced ulterior-motivated plans to enter the 2027 WNBA Draft, ridiculously claiming they identify as women.
After a WNBA task force met Wednesday to discuss the situation, the league denounced any "bad-faith efforts to use these topics to demean or marginalize others."

Myles Lewis-Skelly is already a hot topic and the season isn't officially under way.
The 19-year-old's long-term future at **** nal has been debated since he slipped down the pecking order last season - behind Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie - as **** nal's third choice left-back.
In his breakthrough season in 2024-25, he quickly developed into one of the best young full-backs in the Premier League, which led to him earning a place in the England squad and becoming the youngest man to score on his Three Lions debut.
The following summer, the academy graduate was rewarded with a new five-year contract. But last season was more difficult.
Arsenal had considered listening to offers for Lewis-Skelly, with club sources indicating in April they would look to recoup a minimum combined £100m for Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri.

Kyle Whittingham's first season at Michigan is beginning under a cloud of scandal that is shocking the state.
No, he's not hacking into female students' photo libraries or illegally scouting opposing teams or sleeping with his administrative ******* istant. Those are garden-variety scandals in the Michigan program over the last few years.
In the eyes of some Michigan fans, Whittingham is committing a far more serious offense: He doesn't hate Ohio State enough.
"Would we have a better chance to win if I hated them?" Whittingham said. "I don't understand. Whatever gives us the best chance to win, I'm all for. Want to beat them worse than anybody around so I don't know how that got to be such a hot topic."
Whittingham's comment Monday, in response to a topic that came out of Big Ten media days a couple weeks ago, is like touching the third rail of college coaching. To admit that you don't have as much visceral hate for your rival as the fan base?
