The Atlanta Falcons are adding an experienced quarterback as injuries prevent their top two options from practicing.
Atlanta is signing former Baltimore Ravens backup Cooper Rush, according to multiple reports. The move comes as Tua Tagovailoa deals with back tightness and Michael Penix Jr. remains sidelined while recovering from a knee injury.
Rush gives Atlanta a healthy quarterback capable of handling training camp repetitions while the organization evaluates Tagovailoa and Penix. The Falcons entered the offseason expecting the two left-handed former first-round picks to compete for the starting job, but their health has complicated the early portion of camp.
Penix is returning from surgery to repair the ACL injury that ended his 2025 season. Tagovailoa joined Atlanta on a one-year contract after being released by Miami and was positioned to receive significant work while Penix completed his rehabilitation.
Rush, 32, spent last season behind Lamar Jackson in Baltimore after signing a two-year contract. He appeared in four games and made two starts while Jackson dealt with a hamstring injury, completing 34 of 52 passes for 303 yards with four interceptions and no touchdowns.

But for a star in media's hottest category—who recently signed a new podcast deal with Spotify and Netflix that will pay him a combined $100 million over the next three years—the studio and residence are fitting.
"I mean, I'm not a monk anymore," Shetty tells Forbes. "Today I consider myself an entrepreneur and a leader in this ****** e, and that allows me to have the ability to use money as a resource to do good in the world and create impact in the way that we've chosen to do that."

The goal, Shetty says, is to build a "conscious empire" of content and products promoting physical and mental health.

The Oregon Ducks men's basketball program has gone through a litany of changes this offseason, with eight incoming transfers replacing eight outgoing transfers. Circle—the company behind USDC (the digital dollar used by millions worldwide for payments, savings, and international transfers)—just bought the blockchain patent library IBM spent more than a decade building. The deal, announced July 27, hands Circle over 1,000 blockchain patents issued by IBM worldwide.
Patents are legal rights that give the holder exclusive control over a specific invention. If you hold a patent on a method for processing transactions on a blockchain—the shared digital ledger where crypto activity is permanently recorded and can't be altered—you get to decide who else uses it and on what terms. IBM had been building that kind of leverage since its mid-2010s enterprise blockchain push.
By December 2025, patent ******* ytics firm PatSnap credited IBM with 790 U.S. blockchain patents—more than any other American company, with Bank of America a distant second at roughly 200. Circle, which received its first-ever patent in December 2023 (covering parallel blockchain data processing—a technique for verifying multiple groups of transactions simultaneously), went from essentially zero to the top of the U.S. rankings overnight.
"The portfolio comprises over 680 patent families and nearly 1,000 issued patents worldwide, spanning foundational blockchain technology, banking, financial services, insurance, enterprise infrastructure, supply chain verification, and secure cloud operations," Circle said in its official announcement.
Circle plans to put them to work across its entire stack. "The expanded IP position directly supports Circle's foundation for building the internet financial system, including USDC, Circle Payments Network, Arc, and a growing suite of onchain products and agentic financial tools," the company added. Arc is Circle's own payment-focused blockchain built for institutional finance. The agentic tools are AI-powered software programs that can execute financial transactions autonomously—no human required for each step.

There is a particular kind of business decision that only looks brilliant in hindsight, and only after everyone who made the opposite call has finished writing off the difference. It rarely feels brave at the time. It usually feels like being the last person in the room who did not get the memo.
The American electric vehicle market spent most of the past decade running on a subsidy. That credit, worth $7,500 per car, expired on Sept. 30, 2025, and the correction arrived exactly on schedule. Automakers sold 462,892 all-electric vehicles in the first half of 2026, down 23.8% from the same period a year earlier, according to ****** Automotive.
The industry response was a stampede for the exits. Carmakers have booked nearly $70 billion in write-downs as they scrap and postpone electric programs, reported Automotive News. Honda alone canceled three North American electric projects and now expects its first annual net loss since 1957.
One automaker did not flinch. Toyota (TM) confirmed this month that it will keep rolling out new battery-electric models through the rest of the year, even as it trims spending elsewhere in the lineup.
The company will "slow its product interventions in some model lines to save money," reported Automotive News, while continuing its EV rollout and leaning harder into hybrids.

The 49ers are making an addition to their defensive line group.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that they will sign defensive end KJ Henry. Henry worked out for the team on Tuesday,
Henry was a Commanders fifth-round pick in 2023 and he was let go as part of their final cuts in 2024. He was claimed by the Bengals and later moved on to the Cowboys and Eagles before the year was out. Henry also spent time with the Browns and Steelers last season.
Henry appeared in 15 games across all of those spots. He has 22 tackles and 2.5 sacks for his career.

The Golden State Warriors have re-signed veteran Draymond Green on a one-year $28 million deal after missing out on LeBron James, US media reported Tuesday.
Four-time NBA champion Green had last month declined the same contract in order to free up **** e in the Warriors' salary cap as they pursued free-agent superstar James.
But with James signing for the Philadelphia 76ers this week, both Green and Golden State agreed to renew on the previous terms.
The 36-year-old forward, who was on the Rio and Tokyo Olympic US gold medal teams, has spent his entire career with the Warriors since being selected in the 2012 NBA Draft.
Green played a key role alongside the likes of Stephen Curry in the dynasty that captured NBA **** les in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022.

The Chicago Bears opened training camp today, and with everyone reporting to Halas Hall, they made two more roster moves by placing defensive end Montez Sweat on the Active/Non-Football Illness list and safety Elijah Hicks on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list.
Sweat joins linebacker T.J. Edwards on the NFI list, and much like T.J., Sweat's stay isn't expected to be long. Earlier today, general manager Ryan Poles said Edwards injured his calf during offseason training and is expected back soon, calling it "nothing major." Sweat's illness is expected to keep him away for a few days.
Hicks reported some shin discomfort when reporting, so his start to camp will be delayed a bit. He joins nickelback Kyler Gordon, linebackers Keyshaun Elliott and Noah Sewell, offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo, and defensive lineman Shemar Turner on the PUP list.
Poles said Gordon spent the entire offseason at Halas Hall to make sure he was ready, but there has been a "delay" in his recovery. This latest issue is with this calf, and there is no timetable to return.

Their careers have gone very different directions, with Pickens playing 2026 on the franchise tag and Mims coming off a two-year stint in the UFL. While likely not to the same degree, can the Cowboys help Mims' career as they did Pickens' last year?

Mims was a second-round pick by the Jets in 2020, part of a loaded WR class that included CeeDee Lamb, Justin Jefferson, Brandon Aiyuk, Jerry Jeudy, and several others who've found steady, contributing roles in the NFL. But on top of entering the league during COVID, which that entire class had to overcome, Mims also missed most of his rookie training camp to injury. He didn't play until Week 7, but still had what ended up being his most productive season with 23 catches for 357 yards in nine games.
In Mims' second season, the Jets went from offensive-minded head coach Adam Gase to Robert Saleh, who brought in Matt LaFleur as a new offensive coordinator. This regime change, plus his own issues, hurt Mims' development and footing with the team. He went from eight starts as a rookie to just three in 2021. Mims requested a trade ahead of the 2022 seasons but was denied, and again was limited to a minor role in the WR rotation.
The Jets did finally trade him away in the 2023 offseason to the Lions, but he was waived/injured by Detroit midway through the preseason. He spent about two months on the Steelers' practice squad but didn't make it to their training camp the following year. The Jaguars gave him a look during their camp in 2024, but released him before final cuts.

OXFORD — Ole Miss basketball coach Chris Beard has hired an ******* istant with a wealth of European basketball experience to his staff.
Petar Aleksić was named an ******* istant coach for the Rebels on July 28.
"Petar has built a reputation as a winner everywhere he's coached," Beard said in a school release. "His experience developing players, leading championship programs and competing at the highest levels of European basketball brings tremendous value to our staff. He's a teacher, a proven leader and someone who shares our commitment to building a championship culture at Ole Miss."
Beard was an ******* istant coach under Aleksić for the 2015 Swiss National Team in EuroBasket. That team upset Russia in the second qualifying round of the tournament. Aleksić also spent time with the Rebels in 2024-25 when Ole Miss reached the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.
Aleksić spent 10 seasons (2013-23) as the coach of Fribourg Olympic, a professional team, and has also served as coach of the Swiss men's national team from 2013-17. Aleksić had a 17-year professional playing career competing in the Yugoslav First and Second divisions, as well as in Hungary and Switzerland.

As announced by the program, Alabama baseball's Bryce Fowler and Hagan Banks have signed with the Minnesota Twins.
A pair of redshirt seniors on Alabama's CWS team this past spring, both of Fowler and Banks were not selected in the 2026 MLB draft, and will now begin their professional career's in the minor leagues of Minnesota's organization.
Fowler joined the Crimson Tide prior to the 2025 season from Pearl River Community College, and went on to start during both seasons in Tuscaloosa as one of Alabama's top defensive players. Across his 121 games played, Fowler slashed a combined .294/.397/.442 with 13 home runs, 83 RBI, and 27 stolen bases, while also leading the Crimson Tide with a .320 batting average this past spring.
Banks spent all five seasons of his collegiate career in Tuscaloosa from 2022-26, emerging as Alabama's closer this past spring. The right-hander made 63 career appearances for Alabama over that span with seven starts, posting a combined 3-4 record with a 3.59 ERA, a 105:33 K:BB ratio, and six saves across 95.1 innings pitched.
Other former Alabama players currently in the Twins' organization include pitchers Connor Prielipp, Riley Quick, Hunter Hoopes, and Jonathan Stevens.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass – After a slow day on Monday that consisted of just a walkthrough practice, the New England Patriots certainly ramped things up on Tuesday. The players took the field in shells, preparing for their first padded practice which is set for later this week.
And with that, those in attendance got their first look at the offense doing 7-on-7 drills as well as some time spent on 1-on-1s between the offensive and defensive lines.
With a higher-intensity practice comes lots more to talk about, so let's get into some takeaways:
The Patriots had three players depart practice early on Tuesday. First, it was starting cornerback Carlton Davis, who left after covering A.J. Brown during the 7-on-7 session. Kindle Vildor replaced him, and then Charles Woods. Then, when 11-on-11s began, it was Woods who was playing opposite Gonzalez, but he also left early. And lastly, there was Rhamondre Stevenson, who departed in the final minutes of practice.

Getting rid of the football before it becomes a sack is one of the least appreciated skills a quarterback can have. Fortunately for the Los Angeles Rams, Matthew Stafford has shown to be one of the best in the NFL at doing just that — and landed among one of the best quarterbacks all-time.
NFL **** yst Ryan Paganetti plotted projected 2026 starting quarterbacks' early-down sack rate against early-down throwaway rate, using data from 2022-2025 (regular season and playoffs). He added Tom Brady's final 10 seasons as the historical measuring stick.
Brady, unsurprisingly, sits at the bottom of the sack-rate scale — lower than every other quarterback on the board, a testament to the pocket awareness and quick decision-making that defined the back half of his career. But Stafford isn't far behind. He landed next to Bills quarterback Josh Allen within shouting distance of Brady's territory, both comfortably inside the green zone that denotes a better-than-average sack rate.
For a Rams team that just spent the offseason loading up on defensive talent around him, Stafford's ability to protect himself and keep the offense on schedule matters as much as ever.
At 38 and coming off an MVP-caliber, league-leading season in yards and touchdowns, Stafford pairing that vertical aggression with Brady-like pocket discipline is a big part of what's kept Los Angeles' offense humming. And, according to these numbers, it's a skill that hasn't gotten nearly enough attention.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A Virginia university missed opportunities to learn of a student's terrorism-related conviction before the man opened fire in an ROTC class in March, injuring two students and killing an Army veteran who fought back with "extraordinary heroism," an investigative report released Tuesday found.
The federal probation officer working with Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, who spent eight years in prison for attempting to aid the Islamic State, did not share Jalloh's criminal background with Old Dominion University, despite the serious nature of the offense, according to the report, which was produced by the law firm Cooley on behalf of the university.
Jalloh, who also died in the March attack, had attended the public university in Norfolk beginning in 2007, was suspended in 2010 and reenrolled after his early release from prison in December 2024. He was readmitted to the school in May last year.
No federal or state law enforcement agency reported his prior conviction either, the report said.
State law prohibits the university from inquiring about student criminal history before admission or readmission, according to the report. The university could have asked readmitted students to voluntarily disclose their criminal history but did not at the time, the report said.

Over the past year, Intel stock more than quadrupled, climbing about 308%, while the broader market managed nearly 18%. The move was not built on hope. By the company's own account, the conversation flipped from whether Intel could survive to how fast it can add capacity to keep up with demand. Revenue over the last twelve months reached about $57 billion and grew 7.5%, an acceleration from a three-year average near 2%. The businesses tied to AI now make up about 60% of revenue and grew 40% year over year, and management says the CPU is reclaiming ground inside AI systems, with the ratio of processors to accelerators shifting from one-in-eight toward one-in-four.
Is This Just The AI Chip Trade Lifting Everything?
Only partly. AMD rode the same wave and roughly tripled, up about 222%, but Nvidia gained only about 19% and Qualcomm about 7% over the same stretch, a fraction of that. The gains concentrated in the two biggest movers, and Intel outran even AMD. What set it apart was progress in its own factories: management says its 18A manufacturing process is yielding ahead of internal plans, and the company has pointed to multiyear deals with customers such as Google, a slot for its Xeon server chips inside Nvidia's flagship AI systems, and a headline tie-up with Elon Musk's ventures.

Walsall have made their 10th signing of the summer transfer window with the arrival of Harrogate Town winger Reece Smith on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old featured in all but one of Harrogate's League Two games last term, having joined from non-league Maidenhead United where he came through the academy and spent four and a half seasons in the first team.
Smith, who played in Harrogate's 2-0 win at the Pallet-Track Stadium in the penultimate game of last season, said his move to Walsall felt like "a big step up" and added boss Lee Grant's plan to use him on the left or as a number 10 was "music to my ears".
Grant, who is putting the finishing touches to his first pre-season at the club having taken charge in May, described the deal for Smith as "another coup" for the Saddlers having been keen to sign him for "a very long time".

Eric, who spent the weekend in Los Angeles, has long maintained that he and the American Horror Story star aren't estranged, but an insider told Shuter the wedding said otherwise. "Eric is putting on a brave face because that's what fathers do," the source said. "But don't mistake grace for a lack of hurt. Being left off your daughter's wedding guest list is heartbreaking, especially when another member of your family gets the invitation."

However, according to a second insider, Julia, 58, being at the ceremony in Sun Valley stung more than Eric, 70, let on. "Emma had an impossible choice to make, and she made it," a Hollywood insider told Naughty But Nice. "She couldn't have both Julia and Eric there, so she chose her aunt over her father. Eric is putting on a brave face, but make no mistake — this one hurts."

CHICAGO – Wisconsin football, like its peers across the Big Ten, has kept its cards close to its vest when it comes to how much money the program has for roster construction.
One national report gave an idea of how much the Badgers might have spent to ****** emble their 2026 roster, however.
The Athletic's Justin Williams reported that Wisconsin's roster budget was "north of $25 million" in 2026 and more than twice what it was in 2025. The article cited "people briefed on the budget who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to discuss it publicly."
"I don't know where they got all their numbers," Fickell said.
The article also quoted prominent UW booster Ted Kellner, who said his understanding was that the Badgers were in the "bottom third, bottom 40 percent of the Big Ten in terms of NIL money" in 2025.

Chelsea are set to sign attacking midfielder Giulia Dragoni from Barcelona.
The 19-year-old spent the last two seasons on loan at Roma, and Chelsea have been tracking her progress for several years.
Dragoni has already made 24 appearances for Italy since her debut aged 16 and has experience in the Women's Champions League with Roma.
She joined Barcelona in 2023 after graduating from Inter Milan's youth academy.
It is understood Chelsea were attracted to Dragoni's quality because of her versatility and ability to play across multiple attacking positions and in midfield.

Cecilia Cavallin has renewed her contract with Juventus until 2029, and will spend the 2026/27 season on loan with Parma.
The 21-year-old forward joined Juventus in January 2025, and spent the remainder of that 2024/25 campaign on loan with H&D Chievo Women.
In 2025/26, she continued her development with another loan spell at Bologna, and she will return to Emilia-Romagna for another year, though this time in Serie A Women with Parma.

New Delhi: On March 27 this year, Saransh Jain posted photos and videos on Instagram, thanking former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh for the valuable lessons he learnt during a five-day camp at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.

In the caption, Saransh mentioned a line Harbhajan Singh told him that touched him the most. It read: "Kuch paane ke liye kuch khona nahi, kuch karna padta hai (To achieve something, you don't have to lose something, you have to do something)." Saransh further wrote: "These aren't just words. They were deeply felt and will stay with me."
Now, months later, the 33-year-old has earned his maiden India call-up.

"He is a very humble guy who knows exactly what he needs to do. I wish him all the very best because this is a special moment for him, his family and everyone who has supported him," Harbhajan told TimesofIndia.com in an exclusive interview.

Saransh, who has played extensive First-Class cricket and has been a regular for Madhya Pradesh, impressed the selectors with his consistency during the domestic grind and was recently rewarded with an India A call-up. In his outing for India A against Sri Lanka A, Saransh picked up seven wickets in the two unofficial Tests. In the second match, he claimed six wickets and scored an unbeaten 70 in the first innings, paving the way for India's 10-wicket victory.
"He has worked incredibly hard and spent many years in domestic cricket, which, in many ways, is tougher than people realise. Bowling long spells of 40 or 50 overs across a match teaches you a lot. The more you bowl, the more you learn," says Harbhajan, while lauding Saransh's domestic grind.

Washington Sundar's injury opened the door for Saransh. With Ravindra Jadeja, Manav Suthar and Kuldeep Yadav in the squad, Saransh is the fourth spinner but the lone off-spinner. If he goes on to make his debut, Saransh will become the first India player to debut after the age of 33 since Robin Singh in 1998.

"At 33, he is still young for a spinner, but he now has the experience of bowling to some of the best players of spin in domestic cricket. I am grateful that I got the opportunity to spend four or five days with him," says Harbhajan, backing Saransh to do well.
Over the years, Saransh's flight, dip and high-arm action have proved difficult for batters to pick. Those are exactly the attributes that caught Harbhajan Singh's attention during the specialist camp for off-spinners at the CoE.

"The first thing I noticed was his action. He has a very good action and keeps things simple. He isn't trying too many fancy variations. He has a lot of experience, an excellent seam position and tremendous control. Those qualities make a big difference," says Harbhajan.

"Experience teaches you to trust your strengths and bowl the right line and length consistently. What impressed me the most was his attitude. His mindset is always about taking wickets. Today, many bowlers are focused on simply getting thr
