It will be Makhachev's first **** le defense and heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall believes it will be one of his toughest tests to date.
"I think this is going to be Islam' toughest fight that we've seen recently," Aspinall said on his YouTube channel. "I think stylistically, Ian Garry is a pretty bad matchup for him to be honest.
"He's long, rangy, moves really well. You don't often see him getting taken down and held there. Super tall, super like elusive, elite striking, judges the distance really well. DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — Russian forces in Syria will give up control of two strategic bases on the Mediterranean coast, which will be used as joint Russia-Syrian training centers under a new agreement between the two countries, Syria's Foreign Ministry said Sunday.
Russia was the top political and military ally of ousted President Bashar ****** ad during the country's civil war between 2011 and 2024. ****** ad was ousted in December 2024 by Islamist insurgents led by current interim President Ahmad al-Sharaa and has since fled into exile in Russia.
Throughout the conflict, the Hmeimem air base and the Tartus naval base were key Russian military outposts in the eastern Mediterranean.
Under the new agreement between Damascus and Moscow, Syria will take control of the Hmeimem air base and the commercial berth at Tartus port as part of its civil administration. The military facilities at both sites will become "joint training" centers, the Foreign Ministry said.
The new arrangements represent a "reorganizing of the Russian presence" along Syria's coast, the ministry said.

Melissa Barrera has shared that her firing from the "Scream" franchise by producers over her social media posts relating to Israel and Gaza wasn't "the first time that that has happened to someone, and it won't be the last."

Ian Machado Garry is separating social media from the real world.

"Social media is a false reality, because in the real world, I get nothing but love from everyone I meet on the streets," Machado Garry said in an interview with Betvictor Casino. "Online you can say what you want, you can do what you want. Now with AI, you can create what you want, and there are no parameters to where anyone can go. Anyone can do whatever they want, and it is a very different world that we live in right now. You have to understand that and just move on."

FIRST ON FOX: GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed's campaign has collected more than $115,000 from individuals who work for or have held leadership roles with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which has been designated a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates and formally designated or labeled as such in Florida and Texas.
A Fox News Digital review found that El-Sayed, who has made getting "money out of politics" a central campaign rallying cry, has accepted donations from at least 41 individuals who either work for CAIR, formerly worked for CAIR, or have served in leadership positions with the organization.
The donor list includes several of CAIR's highest-ranking officials, including national Board Chair Manal Fakhoury, national Board Treasurer Eyas Abdeen, national Vice Chair Emad Sabbah, and CAIR-Michigan board member Jukaku Tayeb, El-Sayed's father-in-law.
Tayeb has been one of the largest financial backers of the super PAC supporting El-Sayed's campaign and is also part of the founding committee of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), a group linked to Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood funding, Washington Free Beacon first reported.

Brian Ortega's long-talked-about move to 155 pounds is here.
Ortega, a former two-time UFC featherweight **** le challenger, is moving up to the lightweight division to take on veteran Renato Moicano in a rematch on Sept. 19 at UFC 331 in Los Angeles. UFC officials announced the rematch on Wednesday.
This bout was originally expected to go down in March at UFC 326, but Ortega withdrew from the matchup due to injury. Ortega and Moicano fought back in 2017. Ortega submitted Moicano in a bout that won Fight of the Night awards.
Ortega's move to lightweight has been talked about for several years, as he'd had trouble making 145 pounds for quite some time. In his last outing back in August, Ortega was unable to make the featherweight cut, thus pushing his bout with Aljamain Sterling to an 153-pound catchweight bout. Ortega lost the fight by unanimous decision. "T-City" is finds himself on a two-fight losing streak and 1-4 in his past five bouts.
Moicano looks to build some momentum in his career after submitting American Top Team teammate Chris Duncan in April at UFC Fight Night 272. The win got him back on his feet after a pair of defeats to Beneil Dariush and Islam Makhachev, who he fought for the UFC lightweight **** le at the time.

Discrimination remains "deeply embedded" within English football, according to the chief executive of Kick It Out, as reports of abuse surged by 25 per cent last season.
The anti-discrimination charity recorded 1,744 reports in the 2025-26 campaign, a significant rise from 1,398 in the previous year. For the first time, the number of distinct incidents surpassed 1,000, reaching 1,255.
Kick It Out clarified that while one incident can generate multiple reports, the reports-per-incident ratio for the past season stood at 1.39. The increase was widespread across various platforms and levels of the game.
Reports of online discrimination rose by five per cent to 650, while incidents in the professional game and at grassroots level both saw a 41 per cent increase, reaching 636 and 458 reports respectively.
The charity's data revealed alarming increases across all types of abuse. Islamophobia reports soared by 88 per cent, ***** phobia by 46 per cent, and anti-Semitism by 43 per cent. Racism reports were up 19 per cent, ***** ism by 12 per cent, and ableism by 20 per cent.

(AP) — A Virginia university missed opportunities to learn of a student's terrorism-related conviction before the man opened fire in an ROTC class in March, injuring two students and killing an Army veteran who fought back with "extraordinary heroism," an investigative report released Tuesday found.
The federal probation officer working with Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, who spent eight years in prison for attempting to aid the Islamic State, did not share Jalloh's criminal background with Old Dominion University, despite the serious nature of the offense, according to the report, which was produced by the law firm Cooley on behalf of the university.
Jalloh, who also died in the March attack, had attended the public university in Norfolk beginning in 2007, was suspended in 2010 and reenrolled after his early release from prison in December 2024. He was readmitted to the school in May last year.
No federal or state law enforcement agency reported his prior conviction either, the report said.
State law prohibits the university from inquiring about student criminal history before admission or readmission, according to the report. The university could have asked readmitted students to voluntarily disclose their criminal history but did not at the time, the report said.

Chris Weidman sees welterweight champion Islam Makhachev frustrating Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330.
Makhachev (28-1 MMA, 17-1 UFC) makes his first ****** le defense against Machado Garry (17-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) in the Aug. 15 main event at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia (Paramount+). Makhachev claimed the welterweight ****** le at UFC 322 by taking down Jack Della Maddalena four times and controlling him for more than 19 minutes.
"I think this is going to be a really stressful fight for Ian Garry," Weidman said on "Deep Waters." "I don't think he's going to be as comfortable because he's going to be sh*tting his pants about the takedown because he sees how good Islam is on the ground, and Islam is going to throw hard on the feet, too."
Machado Garry has been criticized for his fighting style, which Weidman believes will benefit him against Makhachev.
"The best thing that he's got going for him is that he's not afraid to have a boring fight," Weidman said of Machado Garry. "He's not afraid to use footwork, run non-stop. He has no problem running from you the whole ****** time."

The reigning welterweight champion's first ****** le defense will beagainst Garry at UFC330 on Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia and theRussian says he has spent his entire training camp preparing forhis Irish counterpart's evasive, movement-heavy fighting style.
Ahead of his ****** le defense, Makhachev broke down the matchup andGarry's skill set. The former lightweight champ claims he'sprepared to chase "The Future" in their upcoming bout, given howthe latter has mostly fought on the back foot.

"His skills: I just have to run in this camp too much because Ihave to follow him," Makhachev told MMA Fighting. "He runs toomuch. I know his game plan. We always see his fights. He has thesame style always. I will try to catch him, take him down, justwhat I did with my old opponents."

Garry has trained alongside former UFC lightweight championCharles"Do Bronxs" Oliveira, who fought Makhachev for the 155-poundtitle in 2022. However, Makhachev doesn't believe his formeropponent has much advice to offer, especially considering he madelight work of the Brazilian, submitting him in the second round oftheir clash.
