Mizzou Basketball lost their exhibition game against UNLV on Thursday night. The game didn't count, so as much as I'm not going to talk up their win over Kansas State, I'm not going to talk down this loss to UNLV. Winning always feel better than losing, regardless of whether the game counts or not. But it looked like Dennis Gates was willing to make a few concessions with his lineups early. Also, Jamier Jones, CJ Gunn, and Jaylen Carey were all sidelined and not dressed out.
Anyway, here's the box score screen cap from Statbroadcast:
There are 13 players listed as having played, but I don't remember Luke Northweather seeing the floor. But there was a lot to think about, so let me try to parse through things quickly, since the 9pm tip means I'm starting this out well after 11.
My biggest takeaway was that one team played a lot harder than the other. The Tigers didn't have their full foster of players, but neither did UNLV. But you could see early the Rebels were focused on crashing the glass and being incredibly physical.
Jason Crowe played 36 minutes, Toni Bryant played 28, Aidan Chronister played 15. Those three players were able to overwhelm K-State, a team who is very focused on skill. Against UNLV the three freshmen, and not just those three but the whole roster, just got bodied by the effort of the Rebels. Lindenwood transfer Dontrez Williams, a Sikeston native, was only 1-5 from the floor and scored just 4 points, but he was +21. Mainly because he was out there playing his ****** off.

GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN - OCTOBER 11: Brandon Cisse #2 of the Green Bay Packers runs upfield during the game against the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field on October 11, 2026 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. (Photo by Daniel Bartel/Getty Images) Getty
Green Bay Packers rookie cornerback Brandon Cisse left the Green Bay Packers' Week 6 win over the Dallas Cowboys with a stinger in his shoulder. He suffered the injury with just over eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter.
Cisse was ******* isted off the field and was checked out in the medical blue tent. However, he did not return to the game. The team listed him as questionable to return. Part of the reason he did not return likely had to do with the state of the game.
Green Bay was leading 23-7 when Cisse left the game. He did not return for that drive, and the Packers forced a turnover on downs.
When Dallas got the ball back, there were just over two minutes to go with Green Bay up by two scores. So, there was no need for him to return.

Cleveland Browns fans are used to their team stumbling out of the gate and not playing well in season openers.
However, Sunday's 34-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars sparked anger and disappointment for several reasons, chief among them Deshaun Watson's role as starting quarterback.
For those wondering if Todd Monken would turn to Shedeur Sanders for Week 2 at Tampa Bay, the first-year coach said Monday: "I anticipate Deshaun will be our starter."
"It's only been two weeks, he's gotten all the reps, and there were some really good things on film, some things that you can build on," Monken said.
"I liked his week of practice last week, and I think he's only going to continue to get better."

MILTON - It was a long offseason. Luke Richardson was starved for the end zone.
The senior receiver pulled in three touchdown grabs and amassed over 150 receiving yards as the Marshfield High football team stamped a 42-25 road victory over Milton on Thursday, Sept. 10.
Richardson, who also doubles as a basketball standout, scored on catch-and-runs spanning 54, 44 and 52 yards. He was named a Patriot League All-Star in both sports as a junior last year.
"He's shifty," said senior quarterback Nate Rollinson, who dished out five touchdown passes. "He's a great route artist. I just know I've got to get him the ball and he'll make plays."
This marks just the second time in coach Chris Arouca's nine-year tenure that Marshfield sealed a Week 1 victory.

The Seahawks have been saying very little about safety Nick Emmanwori's recovery from offseason ankle surgery that happened in July. On Sunday, they were required to say one specific thing — whether and to what extent he practiced.
On the first official injury report of the season, Emmanwori was listed as a limited participant, due to the ankle.
The report comes one day after coach Mike Macdonald was asked whether he could characterize Emmanwori's progress over the last month and said, "Not really."
Macdonald nevertheless praised Emmanwori's handling of the overall process.
"Nick's been fantastic," Macdonald said. "Our training staff has been fantastic, and it wasn't an easy situation for him. He's done a great job to work through all of that."

Lionel Messi set up both goals for Inter Miami as the Major League Soccer champions drew 2-2 with Atlanta United on Saturday in the Argentina star's first match since announcing his retirement from international football.
Thunderstorms and lightning delayed the start for 90 minutes, but there were sparks aplenty on the field after with Messi, Argentina's all-time leading goalscorer and most-capped player, at the heart of the action.
Miami grabbed the lead in the 32nd minute when Brazil's Casemiro rose to head home Messi's corner.
Atlanta equalized three minutes later when former Newcastle forward Miguel Almiron blasted home a low shot.
Former Liverpool and Barcelona star Luis Suarez put Miami into the lead with a measured finish on the cusp of half-time after a move down the left started by Messi.

Manchester United's pursuit of a new left-back ultimately ended in disappointment this summer. The Red Devils spent much of the transfer window focusing on midfield reinforcements, signing Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Carlos Baleba.
The left-back position was also a priority for the English giants this summer, especially with Luke Shaw already on the wrong side of 30. The veteran full-back's contract expires at the end of this season, further complicating matters for INEOS.
While the Englishman started every Premier League game last season, it was imperative to lay down succession plans for the future. Several emerging and established candidates were monitored for the role, including Newcastle United's Lewis Hall, Barcelona's Alejandro Balde, and RB Leipzig's David Raum.
Unfortunately, United failed to land any of their left-back targets and ended the summer without adding cover for Shaw to their squad. Acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano has now named a surprise candidate who was also eyed as an option for the job.

Bill Simmons has learned quite a few lessons over the past few weeks.
Early in August, Simmons made headlines for his anti-seatbelt stance (he just doesn't like them), earning jeers from fans and the media alike.
But that was nothing compared to what Simmons got into this past week, when he admitted to using his daughter's boyfriend as a proxy to place bets despite not being in a state where sports betting was legal.
Simmons shared the story in the tone of an amusing anecdote, calling it a bonding experience between himself and his daughter's boyfriend.
"I let Hank log into my FanDuel as me, [sent] the code to make sure it's me to my phone, I give him the code, he logs in," Simmons said. "And I have all this money that I had from last year because I actually hit a bunch of futures last year. And he's putting in bets for me, and honestly it's the closest I've ever felt to Hank. Real bonding moment for us."

The 2026-27 Bundesliga season opened with Bayern Munich hosting Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena as they looked to begin their defence of the Bundesliga **** le and win it for the third time in a row.
Obviously, the last time these two teams met was in the final game of the German football season last year when Bayern completed their domestic double with a 3-0 win in the DFB Pokal final.
The first major chance came in the 12th minute when Grischa Prömel headed down a cross that deflected into the path of Tiago Tomas, but despite being in front of goal, the forward fired over the bar.
Bayern would be the team to open the scoring when a Joshua Kimmich corner was flicked on by Dayot Upamecano to make it 1-0. After the first game of the new season, the game opened up a lot more, and Bayern managed to gain more control of it after Stuttgart were the better side early on. Nathanial Brown and Konrad Laimer both had clear chances to double the Bundesliga champions' lead before the break.
In the second half, it looked as if Stuttgart were back in it when, in the 52nd minute, Josha Vagnoman's well-taken finish levelled it for Sebastian Hoeneß's side. However, this wouldn't last for long, and when I mean long, I mean three minutes, as Stuttgart would leave Michael Olise wide open in their box and allow him to slot past Fabian Bredlow to restore their lead.

Bukayo Saka's performance in ****** nal's impressive opening-day win has already convinced some fans the Gunners are going to defend their Premier League crown.
The 24-year-old's game-time for the north London outfit was managed at the end of last season, as well as with England at the World Cup, because of an Achilles injury he picked up in March.
Saka missed the March international break and seven games for the Gunners, but returned to help them lift the Premier League ****** le for the first time in 22 years.
The winger was then taken off during the Champions League final as ****** nal lost to Paris-St Germain in Budapest and his performance was criticised.
England boss Thomas Tuchel also limited his minutes during the World Cup, but asked if he found it frustrating being judged while not 100% fit, Saka said it was a "gamble" he was willing to take.

This despatch comes on the journey from Celtic's debacle in Linz to the Czech Republic, where Rangers will hope a more positive European experience awaits.
There will be Rangers supporters revelling in Celtic's downfall last night but they will surely be wary their own nightmare scenario could yet unfold, with the prospect of no European football whatsoever still a possibility.
If they turn in another performance like the first leg against Jablonec they will struggle to get the job done, though Derek McInnes will hope his players can find several more levels to help Rangers secure passage to the league stage of the Conference League.
The alternative is unthinkable for a club that has spent tens of millions of pounds over the past year, though the prize money available in this third-tier competition will not scratch the surface in terms of recouping some of that outlay.
Rather it is for reasons of self-respect that Rangers cannot afford to fail at this stage. Jablonec are not of a standard that should cause the Glasgow side any real issues, yet the slender advantage they take to the Czech Republic does not make for a comfortable evening.

Florida State coach Mike Norvell won't release a depth chart before Saturday's season opener against New Mexico State, but one of the Seminoles' most intriguing position battles remains at quarterback.
Ashton Daniels has secured the starting job, yet the competition for the No. 2 role continues between sophomore Kevin Sperry and junior college transfer Malachi Marshall. While Sperry entered fall camp as the presumed backup, Marshall's rapid development since arriving this summer has turned the race into one of the team's most closely watched storylines.
The Seminoles open the season against New Mexico State at 7 p.m. Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium, and the pecking order behind Daniels may not become clear until game action unfolds.
Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.
Marshall arrived with significant ground to make up. The Iowa Western Community College transfer enrolled during the summer and was tasked with learning Norvell's offense while building chemistry with new teammates in a condensed timeframe.

The 2026 NFL season is right around the corner, and in an effort to stay competitive with their peers and opponents, teams are constantly looking to renovate or make improvements to their stadiums.
In a recent study based on Google and TripAdvisor fan reviews of NFL stadiums, Acrisure Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, came in ranked at No. 6.
The Baltimore Ravens' M&T Bank Stadium was ranked right behind Acrisure Stadium at No. 7, while the two Ohio teams did not fare well. Huntington Bank Field, home of the Cleveland Browns, was ranked 28th, and Cincinnati's Paycor Stadium came in at No. 31, ahead of only Washington's Northwest Stadium.

The Los Angeles Rams host the New Orleans Saints for some Week 2 NFL preseason action, and here's our how to watch guide! It may be preseason, but it's NFL action, and this game could impact each team's decisions regarding their backup quarterback rooms going into the 2026 season. You're going to want to watch this one.
Ty Simpson will likely look to build upon what was a nice showing last Saturday. Stetson Bennett, if given the chance, would likely like to have a bit of a better showing than what he showed last week against the Kansas City Chiefs. He als0 may have shown enough in practice to make the Rams feel good about Bennet as their QB2.
It's an interesting preseason for the Rams who legitimately appear to be trying to figure out the order of their quarterbacks room after Matthew Stafford.
The New Orleans Saints are in a similar spot. They appear to have their starting quarterback figured out with Tyler Shough, though he's only going into his second season. Who's going in behind Shough? The Saints are still figruing out that out. Spencer Rattler is a possibility, but similar to the Rams, after their starter, there seems to be some genuine competition in the QB room.
Who says preseason doesn't matter? Chat right her with other NFL fans and enjoy the game!

Manchester City host Bournemouth on Sunday as they kick off their first Premier League season in a decade without Pep Guardiola in charge.
Enzo Maresca is tasked with delivering trophies at City and his new-look side have had a tough preseason as plenty of experienced, crucial players (Rodri, John Stones, Bernardo Silva) have moved on. Their 3-0 defeat to ******* nal in the Community Shield last weekend was also very worrying. Still, having Erling Haaland and plenty of other superstars around is very helpful for Maresca and City will still be right up there.
It has been all change at Bournemouth this summer too with Marco Rose replacing Andoni Iraola as head coach, as the Cherries prepare for their first-ever season in Europe. It will be intriguing to see how Bournemouth's relatively small squad juggles the Thursday-Sunday grind.
Here's everything you need for Manchester City vs Bournemouth.
Kick off time: 9am ET Sunday (August 23)
Venue: Etihad Stadium — Manchester

Red Sox Fans Want Franklin Arias, but They're Forgetting One Thing originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
If the Boston Red Sox ultimately decide to call up youngster Franklin Arias, there are going to be some decisions that have to be made with the remainder of their roster.
The one promising thing for Boston is that Sept. 1 allows teams to call up two extra players, as rosters expand from 26 to 28.
With the hope that Arias will make his debut, many fans think that will probably be the time Boston decides to call him up.
However, it feels like some fans are forgetting something: the Red Sox active roster doesn't have Trevor Story on it.

Atlanta Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski did not get the result he wanted in Friday's preseason-opening loss to the Denver Broncos, but he remains confident that his team is trending in the right direction entering this weekend's matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
Stefanski met with the media ahead of Monday's practice and provided some injury updates on Jake Matthews, Jawaan Taylor, Jessie Bates III and Xavier Watts.
Matthews won't practice due to an undisclosed injury he suffered against the Broncos, but Stefanski said he wasn't overly concerned and that the veteran left tackle should be good to go for joint practices with the Colts later this week.
Meanwhile, Watts, Bates and Taylor are all back at practice after sitting out of Friday's preseason opener, per team reporter Tori McElhaney.
Stefanski was also asked about the team's poor offensive performance in Friday's loss, including that of his quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Minimizing the number of hits Jaxson Dart takes in his second season with the New York Giants will be key for the 2025 first-round pick. He weathered a massive one on Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings in the teams' preseason opener at MetLife Stadium.
It arrived on the final play of the first quarter, and it sent Dart to the medical tent, where he was checked for a concussion, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan.
Dart, who notably dealt with concussion issues throughout his rookie season — even popping into the blue tent five times in a 10-game span — was quickly cleared. He reentered the exhibition in the second quarter and finished the drive he started.
The 23-year-old Ole Miss product bounced outside the pocket, rolled left and uncorked a 15-yard jump pass that located rookie wideout Malachi Fields in the end zone for six.
Here's another look at the play, from the back of the end zone, where Fields — a third-round pick out of Notre Dame — elevated for the scoring grab.

As another Georgia high school football season kicks off, championship expectations, national recruits and marquee matchups once again dominate the conversation across the Peach State. From powerhouse programs loaded with Division I talent to rising contenders looking to crash the ******* le picture, there is no shortage of storylines heading into the 2026 season.
1. Buford Wolves: Until you knock them off, it is hard not to put Buford on top. The Wolves know how to win. They expect to win. Buford lost a lot, especially at the skill positions, but new names will step in, led by quarterback DJ Hunter, they will play a tough schedule and be ready for December when that time comes.
2. Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets: Thomas County Central may have been playing the best football in Georgia when the season ended last year. Some key contributors graduated, but return many key contributors, and when all is said and done in December, it would be surprising to see the Yellow Jackets hoisting up the trophy for a third time in four years.
3. Creekside Seminoles: Maurice Dixon and Creekside had the perfect 15-0 season a year ago and broke records while doing so. Their offense scored 845 points in 15 games, so can they repeat? The Seminoles are the one to beat. They lost some key players, but 15 starters return, and it is a good mix of linemen and skill guys. The move up to 6A will be something to watch.
4. Gainesville Red Elephants: Gainesville has a new head coach in Santavious Bryant. He won a state ******* le at Grayson in his first year as the head coach there in 2023. Don't be surprised if he leads the Red Elephants to the same accomplishment this season. The Red Elephants have been knocking on the door, and they have the pieces to compete for a ******* le again in 2026.
