NHL rumors: Blue Jackets fans won't love Pierre LeBrun's Adam Fantilli update appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Members of the Columbus Blue Jackets are set to arrive for camp on September 16, with the first on-ice workouts scheduled for the next day. Earlier on Monday, the Blue Jackets added Cam Talbot to the team, bringing in another netminder for camp.
Still, there is one player on the roster who may not be on the ice on September 17. Adam Fantilli is still without a contract from the team, and talks with the restricted free agent are going slowly, according to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic.
"Adam Fantilli remained unsigned Monday ahead of Blue Jackets camp opening this week. The sides continue to talk, which is good, but there's a sizeable gap to overcome. 'Very slow' was how one source described things," LeBrun wrote. "That negotiation needs a positive uptick. The slowness certainly hasn't been for a lack of effort from either side this summer. There have been offers and counter-offers, but they're just not there yet."

Two wins in the Bundesliga, one in the cup, one in the UEFA Champions League – BVB have recently celebrated four consecutive victories. In the Bundesliga table, the Black and Yellows sit in third place with the maximum return of six points. Speaking about the clash against Villarreal FC (3:2) in midweek, BVB coach Niko Kovac said: "Of course, you expend a lot physically, but also mentally. Now it's about getting the mental side back under control immediately in order to switch back to the Bundesliga." His team are the favorites against the newly promoted side: "We're playing at home and we want to win, that's our goal." But: "There are no easy games in the Bundesliga. You have to approach them in a way that means you're fully there right away. That's why I want my boys to step on the gas from the first minute and get our fans behind us again as quickly as possible so that we can play successful football."
Nico Schlotterbeck and Ramy Bensebaini have returned to team training after their injuries and are available for the Paderborn match. "They are fit, healthy and ready to play this weekend. I can count on both of them," said Kovac. Konstantinos Karetsas will not be involved after having to be substituted in the game against Villarreal FC due to circulation problems. Read more now!
SC Paderborn have been promoted to the Bundesliga for the third time in the club's history. "A team with the ambition to stay in the league. We will certainly be facing a deep block from the opposition, who will want to hit on the counter," said Kovac. On matchday one, the team picked up a point away at FSV Mainz 05 (0:0) and then lost 1:0 at home to SC Freiburg. They currently sit 12th in the table. Despite 23 shots on goal, Paderborn have yet to score. Defensively, however, they have not allowed much either and have goalkeeper Nahuel Noll to thank, as he has conceded only one goal so far. Paderborn's Felix Götze (in the BVB youth setup until 2014) and Steffen Tigges (2019 to 2022) also wore the Black and Yellow shirt in the past.
BVB have never lost a competitive match against SC Paderborn: there have been two meetings in the DFB-Pokal, and on both occasions the Black and Yellows advanced to the next round. In the Bundesliga, Borussia have won two matches so far, while two others ended in draws. The last Bundesliga meeting at the end of May 2020 is especially memorable. In this ghost game in Paderborn played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus, the Black and Yellows produced a poor first half but improved after the break. All seven goals in the 6:1 victory came in the second half. It was the highest-scoring half of the 2019/20 season. For BVB, Jadon Sancho (3), Thorgan Hazard, Achraf Hakimi and Marcel Schmelzer, with the last goal of his professional career, were on target.Christina Reinke

Jak Jones claimed the second ranking ******* le of his career by beating four-time world champion Mark Selby 10-6 in the British Open final.
The pair were tied at 4-4 after the afternoon session, which included a 139 from Selby.
Another century break brought Selby level at 5-5 before Jones, who beat Judd Trump in the semi-final, started to pull away by moving into a two frame lead at 7-5.
Breaks of 53 and 62 put Jones one frame from victory and, after England's Selby missed a green on the colours, the Welshman secured victory.

BATON ROUGE, LA – The Lane Kiffin era started with fireworks. Literally.
As LSU came out of the tunnel shortly before kickoff of its game against Clemson, LSU shot off purple and gold fireworks inside the stadium to hard launch to Kiffin's debut with the Tigers.
Hey, better than saving up the fireworks for display after a loss, like Rutgers did.
Earlier in the day, Kiffin, ever the showman, entered the stadium during the Tiger Walk wearing a double breasted suit. He was accompanied by comedian Theo Von and swimsuit model Olivia Dunne, a former LSU gymnast.
The start of the Clemson-LSU game was delayed two hours because of lightning and heavy rain. The Kiffin era officially kicked off at 8:40 p.m. local time, with smoke from the pregame pyrotechnics display hovering in the air at Tiger Stadium.

The TSSAA heat policy for Tennessee high school football will come into effect with temperatures soaring across the state.
Middle Tennessee is under a "major to extreme heat risk" through Sept. 5, according to the National Weather Service in Nashville. The NWS forecasted a high of 101 degrees on Sept. 3 and 100 degrees on Sept. 4.
The heat index could reach 110 degrees in that span, which is why some TSSAA football Week 3 kickoff times have been pushed back from the traditional 7 p.m. slot. Several high school games in Knoxville have already seen changes in start times.
The TSSAA restricts outdoor football activity when the heat reaches a certain level.
Here's a rundown of the TSSAA heat policy.

On Sunday, offensive tackle Luke Tenuta was on the Indianapolis Colts' initial 53-man roster. On Monday afternoon, he was released to make room for defensive back Kapena Gushiken, who was claimed on waivers.
Then on Monday evening, Tenuta was signed to the Colts' practice squad.
Tenuta was in line to be the Colts' swing tackle off the bench on the 53-man roster, and he still very well could be.
As of now, there are only eight offensive linemen on the active roster, and the next man up currently behind Bernhard Raimann and Jalen Travis may very well be Matt Goncalves -- the team's starting right guard.
Unless an addition is made between now and Week 1, Tenuta is a primed practice squad elevation to provide tackle depth. Practice squad players can be elevated up to three times over the course of a season.

Evaluating Woody Marks through a fantasy football lens requires a realistic ******* sment of a player whose team has already shown us exactly how they feel about his standalone role. Selected as a fourth-round pick last year, Marks struggled with efficiency, posting a sluggish 3.6 yards per carry. While he did manage to catch three touchdowns, and that is certainly not nothing in PPR formats, the broader context of the offseason is incredibly telling. If the Houston Texans were genuinely impressed with what they saw from Marks, they would not have aggressively brought in David Montgomery to take over the backfield.
This is an offense starved for upside outside of Nico Collins, who drafted perimeter help last year and explicitly added to their backfield this summer as they continue to try to support what might be the best defense in the NFL.
The Texans are clearly gearing up to make a playoff run, and their offseason moves suggest that Marks is not going to be a featured part of it, at least in an optimal world.
START PREPARING: PFN's FREE Fantasy Draft Simulator
The good news for Marks is that this offensive line should be noticeably better than it was a year ago, which should theoretically help boost some of his disappointing efficiency numbers if he is actually given a chance.

With training camp in the rearview, the Tennessee ***** ans are about ready to fully turn their attention to the season opener against the New York Jets. Just two hurdles remain: the preseason finale against the Chicago Bears on Saturday and the cut-down to 53 on Sunday.
This past week, head coach Robert Saleh and ***** istant general manager Dave Zeigler discussed the week and noted that a few roster spots remain up for grabs. But what are those? And who are those in contention?
While some players like Julius Chestnut appear to have locked up a roster spot as the fourth running back or Kylen Granson as the fourth tight end, others are still fighting for the final spots, and the final roster breakdown will be dictated by the final positional breakdown.
Here is a breakdown of what ***** ans Wire believes could be those final spots.
The ***** ans are five deep, but will have some decisions to make at receiver. Bryce Oliver is a special teams ***** et, which could give him an advantage, but Xavier Restrepo is making a strong push. With Wan'Dale Robinson going down with a potential concussion, Restrepo could be in-line to gain some extra snaps in the preseason finale and could have a golden opportunity to cement his case.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Beau Brungard threw for three touchdowns and ran for two, leading Youngstown State to a 43-10 rout of Mercyhurst in a Football Championship Subdivision season opener on Thursday night.
Brungard, the reigning Walter Payton Award winner as the top offensive player in FCS, had 98 yards rushing in the first half as the Penguins built a 29-3 lead. He accounted for three touchdowns — two on the ground and one passing. His second touchdown pass, 27 yards to Bryan Hunt, gave the Penguins a 36-3 lead to open the third quarter. He added a short touchdown pass to Jaden Gilbert with under 10 minutes left in the fourth before coming out of the game.
Brungard finished with 232 yards passing, completing 20 of 29 throws, and was intercepted once. He had 119 yards rushing on 21 carries. Gilbert had five carries for 89 yards, which included a 50-yard run. The Penguins, ranked No. 9 in the Stats Perform FCS top 25, had 484 yards on offense, with 232 passing and 252 rushing.
After driving 65 yards for a 24-yard field goal on the opening possession of the game, the Lakers didn't cross midfield until the middle of the fourth when they reached the YSU 34-yard line before being stopped on fourth down.
A blocked punt by Kaleb Platz set up the Lakers for a 53-yard drive to their only touchdown, a 2-yard pass from Alex Gevaudan to Sha'lik Hampton.

Why Stephanie White never lost faith in Lexie Hull during Fever shooting slump originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Lexie Hull's place in the Indiana Fever starting lineup was not dependent on whether her shots were falling. That was the message from coach Stephanie White after Hull broke out of a prolonged offensive slump during Indiana's 113-90 victory over the Chicago Sky.
Hull scored 14 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting, made two 3-pointers and added two rebounds in 26 minutes. It was her first double-digit scoring performance since July 9 against the Phoenix Mercury.
The breakthrough came after a difficult stretch in which Hull recorded four scoreless games despite continuing to start for one of the WNBA's top teams. White acknowledged that the slump affected Hull, but it did not change how the guard approached her responsibilities.
"Certainly was struggling with confidence, but you could never tell in the way that she shows up," White said Wednesday. "She's always going to show up. She's always going to stay ready."

With time running out, Barcelona are **** sing how to complete their remaining business, but the search for a new No. 9 has become increasingly straightforward.
The club want Alvarez, and if the move cannot be completed, Barcelona are prepared to wait.
Notably, Alvarez is not being treated as one option among many.

Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Chris McClellan may not play a ton of defensive snaps as a rookie, but he showed what he's capable of against the Denver Broncos on Friday. The third-round pick's impressive six total tackle performance in the second preseason game caught the attention of his head coach.
"I thought he flashed. I thought he did a lot of great things, just playing with the playstyle we're looking for," coach Matt LaFleur said Monday. "He showed some good burst getting after the quarterback. There was a play where he got out of the stack and almost took out Jaylin Simpson, but I like the effort running to the football. There's certainly a lot of things he can improve upon as well, and we'll get him coached up on those, but I do think he's a really good young, talented player."
McClellan may not factor much into the Packers' defensive line rotation this season when Devonte Wyatt and Javon Hargrave are healthy. However, Green Bay used a Day 2 pick on McClellan because his skill set as a pass rusher and run defender showed long-term upside that could pay off in the future.
For today's film room, we are going to break down two of McClellan's better plays in Denver.
First, we are taking a look at a pass rush rep McClellan had against the Broncos' starting offense during the first quarter. He's lined up as the 3-technique over left guard Ben Powers' outside shoulder. When you look at McClellan's 6-foot-4, 313-pound frame, you would expect him to be tough to move but maybe not move as well as he does.

Armando 'Hormiga' González's story with Chivas began long before his goals at Estadio AKRON. In 2018, at just 15 years old, he joined Guadalajara's youth academy with the U-15 side, inspired in part by his family history: his father, Armando González Bejarano, had also worn the Rojiblanco jersey and passed down his love for these colors from an early age.
That was the beginning of a journey that would see the young 'Hormiga', who grew up surrounded by stories of the Rebaño, create a few of his own within the club.
His path through the Rojiblanco Academy took him through several age groups and was highlighted by multiple achievements. He won championships with Chivas at U-15 and U-17 level before enjoying one of his best tournaments in the Apertura 2023 with the U-23 side.
That season, he won the Golden Boot with 13 goals during the regular season and played a key role in helping the Rebañolift the U-23 ******* le, scoring five more goals in the playoffs, including the opening goal in the final against Tigres. Earlier, on November 18, 2020, he had taken his first steps in professional soccer with Tapatío in Liga de Expansión MX.
On January 13, 2024, the moment arrived for Armando to officially wear the First Team jersey and make his Liga MX debut. That afternoon, he came on as a substitute in the 84th minute against Santos Laguna in Matchday 1 of the Clausura 2024. From that point on, he began turning everything he had learned throughout the years into goals, prominence and moments that would remain in the memory of the Rojiblanco faithful.

The Fever did not play Friday, but they clinched the spot via a Portland loss 82-79 to Toronto early Saturday morning. Indiana (24-13) is the fourth team to clinch a playoff spot, joining the Minnesota Lynx, Golden State Valkyries and Las Vegas Aces.
This is the third-straight season that Indiana has clinched a playoff spot, marking a new standard for the franchise after seven seasons of missing the playoffs from 2017-23. The Fever's rise amounted from the additions Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, back-to-back picks in 2023 and 2024, along with Kelsey Mitchell's ascension.

The one thing every teams hopes more than anything to come away with in the preseason is their health. But unfortunately this is a full contact sport and injuries are a part of the game. Even in games that don't matter.
In the third quarter of the Raiders' week two preseason matchup with the Texans Thursday night, they watched as third-year CB Chigozie ***** ieum went down with a lower body injury and didn't get back up. Eventually the cart came out to take ***** iem off the field while both teams took knees in the hopes his injury wasn't career-threatening.
Anusieum was hoping to make the Raiders roster based on his efforts on special teams. He appeared in three games last season for the Raiders, seeing most of his snaps on special teams. So, naturally, it was on a special teams play that he went down with his injury.
The 6-1, 200-pounder entered the league in 2024 as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns out of Colorado State. He spent much of last season in Arizona before being signed by the Raiders off the Cardinals' practice squad late last season. He was making a bid to stick with the Raiders again this season.

A lot happened in Preseason Week 1. All of my detailed notes are in here, but today's column will look at the details of where they land in my updated 2026 fantasy football rankings. These are half PPR rankings for redraft, with some notes on best ball and full PPR scoring when needed.
The timeline is important. A 2022 torn ACL/MCL/PCL can't go overlooked. That's a near full dislocation of his knee, and to me, it impacted his willingness to add yards after the catch in the following seasons (for reasons I can totally understand). Unfortunately, we've seen countless players come back from serious injuries only to pick up lingering soft-tissue injuries. Tyson had two different hamstring injuries at Arizona State and was barely ready for drills by the time the 2026 NFL Draft rolled around. They took things slowly this offseason, and then a "new" hamstring injury occurred when he slipped in practice. Even if this hamstring is different from the other ones, it's still worrisome that there are soft-tissue injuries.
Does he need to rework his entire lower half in ways that Christian Watson, MarShawn Lloyd and others have had to? I'm expecting that type of report to surface next offseason.
Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
In the meantime, the Saints are smart for taking their time with Tyson. I fully believe this will take two months if not more. October would be on the early side. November or another setback can't be ruled out, especially with the Saints' October schedule being on Metlife turf (Week 6), in France (Week 7) and on bye (Week 8). If the Saints wanted to be extra safe, a Week 9 return at home against the Browns could be a behind-the-scenes target. I'm going to **** ume he's out for about seven games.

Elly De La Cruz has Cincinnati going wild after clutch 10th-Inning heroics originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Elly De La Cruz added another memorable moment to his growing highlight reel Monday night, delivering the first walk-off hit of his career as the Cincinnati Reds rallied for a 6-5 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in 10 innings.
De La Cruz ripped the game-winning hit in the bottom of the 10th, scoring Tyler Stephenson and allowing Cincinnati to salvage a split of Monday's doubleheader. The 110.9 mph shot capped a comeback after the Reds trailed 4-1 earlier in the game.
The dramatic finish came one inning after Dane Myers kept Cincinnati alive.
With two outs in the ninth and the Reds trailing 5-4, Myers came off the bench and delivered a pinch-hit solo home run to tie the game and force extra innings.

Gianni Infantino is facing a battle to stay afloat as Fifa president after his botched bid to sell off stakes in the World Cup to private investors resulted in a significant loss in support.

Rockets predicted to trade Kevin Durant to Cavs for $411M former MVP in 4-team blockbuster deal originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Houston Rockets are trying to bounce back from an up-and-down season last year that ended with a first-round playoff exit to the Los Angeles Lakers. Houston had a roster that featured a mix of veteran experience and young talent.
Kevin Durant did his part for the Rockets in his first season with the team. However, injuries to veterans Steven Adams and Fred VanVleet proved to be significant losses.
"Interviews with team sources and those with knowledge of the team's operations reveal that the VanVleet injury, and the season-ending ankle injury to Steven Adams later on, impacted the team in ways that extended off the floor. Beyond the team's glaring lack of playmaking, their absences created a massive leadership void that Durant and the team struggled to fill," ESPN's Ramona Shelburne and Tim MacMahon wrote.
This summer has been interesting, to say the least, as Houston has been trying to figure out what to do with Durant. His name has reportedly been made available in trade discussions.

Although the Kansas City Chiefs lost the preseason opener 20-12 to the Los Angeles Rams, the defeat produced encouraging performances and positive takeaways.
One noteworthy performance came from rookie running back Emmett Johnson, who delivered a strong effort when given the opportunity. Mostly operating with the second- and third-string offense, Johnson finished the game with 59 yards on 12 attempts, as well as 3 receptions out of the backfield. Johnson also had several positive plays negated by penalties, including a touchdown from roughly five yards out.
Johnson made a strong case to continue to receive opportunities as a complementary piece in the offense. He showed the talent to be another valuable option out of the backfield, along with last year's Super Bowl MVP and new Chief Kenneth Walker III. Johnson's efforts did not go unnoticed by his head coach Andy Reid.
"He did a nice job with it," Reid told local media in his post-game press conference. "He ran hard and aggressive, had some yards after contact there, which is a big thing. He was one of the positives coming out of this, I thought he did a nice job."
Johnson displayed an aggressive and tough running style. He read blocks and hit the available holes hard, without hesitation. He was the main cog in the Chiefs' offensive attack in the preseason opener.
