Nashville Predators general manager Chris MacFarland hasn't done himself any favors by trading Luke Evangelista.
A forward who just had a career season as a 24-year-old? A unanimous fan favorite, once named one of Nashville's 25 "Most Beautiful People"? A key piece of the top-six forward group and a supposed part of the team's future?
And you trade him for two draft picks?
"This decision was not made lightly," MacFarland said after news of the trade with the New Jersey Devils broke in the evening of Sept. 1.
"These are some of the toughest moves that you have to do," he said. "A good player that has a lot of cachet with the organization for a few years, a dang good person, and he's done a good job here playing hockey for the Predators."

Investors in AI stocks are not without their long list of worries — chief among them is that demand is peaking.
"There was a notable discrepancy between management teams' outlooks for fundamentals and investors' outlooks for share prices," said Deutsche Bank ***** yst Melissa Weathers in a new note on Wednesday.
The note recapped a recent conference DB had, hosting tech execs from the likes of Intel (INTC) and Sandisk (SNDK) and investors in the ***** e.
"Fundamentally, most companies in attendance signaled steady and strong trends, especially the supply chain names gearing up for more advanced processor architectures, higher memory demand, etc. Many management teams signaled confidence not only in industry-wide trends (confidence spanned across sub-sectors like processors, broad-based semis, semicap, etc), but also company-specific efforts to expand margins and drive EPS power.
By contrast, investor sentiment has soured materially from the enthusiasm seen in the first half of the year, with "peak cycle" fears common among many investors. Much of this bearishness stems from ongoing concerns of demand destruction caused by DRAM pricing and technological innovation to break through the "Memory wall", Weathers explained.

Dundee United signing Lyall Cameron on a season-long loan from Rangers has really caught my eye.
Cameron may only be 23, but this feels like a really important move for him.
Not so long ago the attacking midfielder was tipped to be one of Scottish football's big prospects – after a number of standout performances for Dundee.
During his time at Dens Park he made 120 appearances and was capped for the Scotland Under-21s.
He certainly earned his big move to Ibrox but things have stalled since then. He only made 10 appearances for the Ibrox side, half of those coming from the bench.

Team USA coach Kara Lawson isn't sugarcoating the fact winning 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup gold will be challenging.
The U.S. women have largely dominated their international competition winning eight straight Olympic gold medals and nine of the last 12 World Cups dating back to 1979. The field is getting better and Team USA could have an uphill battle in this World Cup, which begins Friday, Sept. 4.
"There's no question that the world is improving at a rapid rate. It's so exciting to see, and I see it at every level, obviously, being a college coach," Lawson said Tuesday. "... That's an obvious statement that the world is improving. It has continued to improve, and there's more depth to teams at the World Cup,"
"Now, when you look at rosters, there's a number of just high-quality players. The depth of these rosters is really strong. I think it's gonna be the most difficult World Cup to win that we've had because of that, which is exciting. I mean, you should want it to be difficult, you know? It should be hard to win. It's a World Cup, you know?"
The depth of USA Basketball will all but certainly be tested.

Apple stock just had its best day in five weeks as John Ternus took over from Tim Cook as CEO, becoming just the company's third chief executive this century.
The rally has pushed Apple away from a support zone near $310 and back toward its late-July record area near $340 — giving shareholders a natural way to define both their downside and upside with options.
Apple (AAPL) was trading around $325 early this week, almost exactly halfway between those two levels. That sets up a strategy known as a collar.
A collar isn't a standalone options bet. The investor must own 100 Apple shares — either already held or bought outright — and then layer the options on top. In this case, that means buying one Sept. 18 $310 put and selling one Sept. 18 $340 call.
With Apple at $324.77 when the trade was priced, the $310 put cost about $2.17 per share, or $217 for one contract. The $340 call brought in about $2.12 per share, or $212.

We're almost there, Miami football fans. The Hurricanes take the field for the first time in the 2026 season this weekend, granted on a weird day for college football on the West Coast against ACC opponent Stanford.
That combination of words isn't as wild as last year's run through the College Football Playoff and all the way to the national championship game. Now Mario Cristobal is ready to secure the program's sixth ****** le with quarterback Darian Mensah and jack-of-all-trades receiver Malachi Toney as his big stars. The restructured defensive front built around run-stuffing defensive tackle Ahmad Moten and former Missouri edge rusher Damon Wilson has a lot to live up to.
They'll get their first test against Stanford, who opened last week with an exciting 37-27 win over Hawaii. Davis Warren, who missed last season after tearing his ACL with Michigan, threw for 310 yards and a touchdown in his debut with the Cardinal, while Micah Ford ran for three TDs and came just shy of 100 yards. This will be Miami's first game in California since East Coast fans woke up to find Cam Ward had led a thrilling 25-point second-half comeback in 2024 over Cal.

Nordson Corporation (NASDAQ:NDSN) could be one of the more underrated dividend-growth stocks in the industrial sector. The company has now raised its dividend for 63 consecutive years, including a notable 15% increase to $0.94 per share announced in August 2026. What makes the story particularly interesting is that Nordson combines this long dividend record with a relatively modest payout, strong cash generation, and a diversified business model built around precision technologies, recurring parts, and consumables. As of August 31, the stock has a dividend yield of 1.17%.
Its latest fiscal Q3 results- with record adjusted EPS and stronger full-year guidance- also suggest the company has the earnings and cash-flow capacity to keep growing the dividend.
Nordson Corporation (NASDAQ:NDSN)'s dividend-growth streak looks increasingly well supported by its cash generation and relatively conservative payout. The biggest positive is that Nordson did not merely maintain its dividend-growth record; it raised the quarterly dividend by 15% to $0.94 per share, marking the 63rd consecutive year of annual increases. A double-digit increase is meaningful because it suggests management remains confident in the company's ability to generate enough cash to support both the dividend and other capital-allocation priorities.
The dividend also appears to have a substantial earnings cushion. Fiscal Q3 adjusted EPS increased 19% to a record $3.25, while the company raised its full-year adjusted EPS guidance to $11.80-$12.00. At the new quarterly dividend rate, the annualized payout is $3.76 per share, implying that the dividend represents only roughly 31%-32% of the midpoint of management's adjusted EPS guidance. That leaves considerable room for Nordson to continue investing in the business while still growing the dividend.
Cash flow provides an even stronger argument. Nordson Corporation (NASDAQ:NDSN) generated $570.5 million of operating cash flow during the first nine months of fiscal 2026, up from $516.3 million a year earlier. It paid $137.4 million in dividends during that period. In other words, operating cash flow covered the dividend by more than four times, providing a meaningful cushion for future increases.

Editor's note: Third in an occasional series exploring LaVell Edwards' legacy of leadership.
LaVell Edwards was much more than a football coach. He was also a fortune teller, a prognosticator, a weatherman and a visionary, and — most of the time — his inclinations were right.
Defensive tackle Chris Hoke came to BYU in 1994. With his mission call to Brussels, Belgium, in hand, he sought out some advice from his coach. Hoke was worried a mission would rob him of his athletic edge for a football future.
"He was rock solid on me serving a mission," remembered Hoke. "He said, 'This is something you've got to do. The Lord has asked you to serve, and you are serving. I've done this long enough to know that if you go and serve the Lord, you're going to come back and you're going to come back bigger, stronger and faster than you were before you left.' He was right. Everything did work out."
After completing his mission, Hoke returned and played four seasons at BYU and 11 seasons with the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers, where he won two Super Bowls.

Team USA has won the last four FIBA Women's Basketball World Cups and nine of the last 12. The United States owns a world-leading 11 overall World Cup ******* les and has been the most dominant team across the globe for the past two-plus decades.
Yet, that streak is on the line starting this week in Berlin.
Not only does a new era of young WNBA stars make their World Cup debut, but the league's most dominant player won't be suited up for the first time since 2014.

The Marzetti Company (NASDAQ:MZTI) is an interesting dividend story precisely because it is easy to overlook. Investors who knew it as Lancaster Colony may not immediately connect the new Marzetti name with a business that has increased its regular dividend for 63 consecutive years. The 2025 rebrand also means the company is now operating under a consumer-facing name that is much more closely **** ociated with its food brands. The latest fiscal-year results give both sides of the dividend argument something to work with.
Photo by Dan Dennis on Unsplash
The strongest argument is the track record. The Marzetti Company (NASDAQ:MZTI) increased its regular cash dividend for the 63rd consecutive year in fiscal 2026. The latest quarterly dividend was $1.00 per share, compared with $0.95 in the year-ago quarter, while the fiscal-year dividend was $3.95 per share, up from $3.75. That puts Marzetti among an unusually small group of companies with such a long record of consecutive dividend increases.
That history matters because the company has maintained the streak through very different economic environments. The dividend is not simply the result of a recent management commitment; it is part of a capital-allocation culture that has been maintained for decades. Fiscal 2026 operating cash flow reached a record $283.8 million, up $22.3 million from the prior year. The company paid $108.8 million in dividends during the year. On those figures, the dividend consumed roughly 38% of operating cash flow, leaving substantial cash generation after the dividend.
That is one of the more encouraging aspects of the latest results. The dividend is not being funded by accounting earnings alone. The Marzetti Company (NASDAQ:MZTI) is generating considerably more operating cash than it is distributing to shareholders. The company's earnings performance also improved. Fiscal 2026 net income was $191.6 million, or $6.98 per diluted share, compared with $167.3 million, or $6.07 per diluted share, in fiscal 2025. Adjusted diluted EPS was $6.83, compared with $6.72 a year earlier.

Automating your savings contributions is one way to ensure you save consistently and effortlessly. However, if you're going to put your savings on autopilot, it's important to do it the right way.
Automating your savings means setting up a system where a portion of your income is regularly transferred to a savings account or investment account without any manual effort on your part.
For example, you could have your employer direct a percentage of your paycheck to your retirement account. Or you could set up a monthly transfer from your checking account to your savings account.
And considering that some savings accounts still offer interest rates as high as 4% (or even more in some cases), you want to make sure you're making regular deposits to your account and taking advantage of that compound interest.

Sunderland have moved decisively to land Malick Fofana, beating Crystal Palace to one of the more closely watched attacking deals of the window. As reported by The Athletic, Sunderland have now pushed the agreement over the line after the player weighed up both options, with the Belgium international completing a medical ahead of signing a five-year contract until 2031.
This feels like a significant piece of business for Sunderland. Palace had made a serious attempt to hijack the move, and there was clear logic to their pursuit. Pierre Sage, now Palace manager, previously coached Fofana at Lyon and was "seen as key to the south London side entering the race for the 21-year-old's signature". Even so, Sunderland have come out on top.
The numbers underline the scale of the commitment. Sunderland will pay "a €30million upfront fee for Fofana plus €6m in potential add-ons". For a club newly back in the Premier League, that is an ****** ertive investment in high-level potential and immediate attacking quality.
Fofana's profile explains why there was such strong interest. ****** nal were "weighing up a move for Fofana", while Chelsea had previously made "a verbal enquiry" and Everton "held talks over a possible move". Sunderland have effectively won a competitive market for a player still only 21.
His output suggests real upside. Fofana has scored 19 goals and supplied eight ****** ists in 84 games for Lyon, after producing five goals and ten ****** ists in 64 senior appearances for Genk. There has been a setback, with "an ankle injury halted his progress and limited him to just 16 appearances last season", but he has "already scored two goals in six games for the French side this term".

Genuine Parts Company (NYSE:GPC) has increased its dividend for 70 consecutive years, placing it among the longest-running dividend growth records in the market. The company raised its annual dividend by 3.2% for 2026 to $4.25 per share, or $1.0625 quarterly.
The dividend is supported by Genuine Parts' large automotive and industrial replacement-parts businesses, which tend to generate recurring demand because customers still need repairs and replacement parts during weaker economic periods. The company operates more than 10,800 locations across 17 countries.
There are also some reasons for caution. Genuine Parts generated $421 million of free cash flow in 2025, while paying $564 million in dividends. That means the dividend exceeded reported free cash flow during the year. The company expects free cash flow to improve to $550 million-$700 million in 2026, while adjusted EPS is expected at $7.50-$8.00.

70-year track record provides strong evidence of dividend commitment. Genuine Parts Company (NYSE:GPC) has maintained and increased its dividend through multiple recessions, inflationary periods, and industry cycles. Reaching 70 consecutive years of increases suggests that protecting the dividend is deeply embedded in the company's capital-allocation strategy.

Here are five high school games/sporting events to watch out for this week:
This is always one of the top early-season invitationals, including Crestwood, Field, Garfield, Southeast and Streetsboro out of Portage County. The Rockets boys and Red Devils girls are coming off team ****** les at last week's Billy Goat Challenge. Streetsboro had three runners in the top 11 of the boys race: senior Ares Miller (fifth, 18:41.59), sophomore Preston Krzeminski (ninth, 19:11.16) and sophomore Ryan Haber (11th, 19:14.72). Crestwood had two in the top four of the girls race, seniors Piper Seibold (second, 20:47.77) and senior Madie Grace Gonczy (fourth, 21:44.23), while Streetsboro (junior Cara Thomson and senior Kaelyn Malloy) and Field (sophomore Alison Church) also had top-10 finishers.
Watch Ohio High School Sports Live on NFHS Network all year
Two undefeated teams square off in this epic clash in Kent, their first meeting as Metro Athletic Conference rivals. Both recently recorded signature nonleague wins, with Roosevelt topping Lake (Federal League) and Field topping Copley (Suburban League). The Rough Riders have scored a whopping 22 goals through three games (including eight from senior Audrey Haines) while the Falcons have yielded just three in their first five games.
It's too bad Portage County soccer fans can't be two places at once because both Falcons-Rough Riders games are must-watch. Indeed, while the girls teams haven't squared off in a while, the Field and Roosevelt boys have played each of the last three seasons with all three games decided by a single goal, including the Falcons prevailing 4-3 in Kent a year ago. Field carries an undefeated record into this year's clash while both teams are trying to stay atop the MAC standings with matching 2-0 records entering the night.

HOUSTON/CARACAS, Aug 31 (Reuters) - U.S. companies Chevron and GE Vernova, India's ONGC, Italy's Eni and Colombia's GeoPark are on track to sign final agreements in Venezuela after months of negotiations to firm up energy projects in the OPEC country, five sources close to the preparations said.
Most of the pacts imply completion of a six-month migration of oil contracts to an amended hydrocarbon law now giving more flexibility to foreign firms to expand and operate oilfields, export the barrels and cash sale proceeds, the sources said. Others set terms for new energy and electricity projects.
The list of companies lining up to sign has not been finalized as executives are rushing to complete negotiations at the last minute, two of the sources said.
Chevron's agreements with Venezuela are expected to be "of significant size," according to one of the sources.

Philadelphia 76ers fans have every reason to be excited about the upcoming season. They landed LeBron James and Jaylen Brown this summer.
Chemistry is their next challenge, but it looks like it will not be much of a problem.
NBA training camp will officially begin on September 29, but several teams have already taken steps to build chemistry through workouts on their own time. The Sixers' core players are among them.
Brown said he has been working out with his new teammates, and he has a simple way of letting their supporters know that they are going to be good.
"We've been working, building chemistry with the guys. Maxey is a dog. LeBron is the goat, you don't even need to say what LeBron is. He look good, healthy," he said.

Hims & Hers Health, Inc. (NYSE:HIMS) has entered Australia, marking its first expansion into the Asia-Pacific market. The move follows its acquisition of Australian digital-health platform Eucalyptus, which includes men's health brand Pilot and women's health brand Juniper. Hims is initially rolling out weight-loss and men's health treatments, with plans to introduce women's health services later this year.
The Australian launch allows Hims & Hers Health, Inc. (NYSE:HIMS) to replicate its U.S. and European model in another large, digitally connected healthcare market. It also gives the company access to local infrastructure and clinical expertise rather than requiring it to build the business entirely from scratch. The company has said international expansion has already helped increase monthly revenue per subscriber by 21% year over year, although international growth has also pressured gross margins.
Australia could become another meaningful growth engine for Hims & Hers Health, Inc. (NYSE:HIMS) as the company expands beyond its core U.S. market. The acquisition of Eucalyptus gives Hims an established local presence, existing brands and clinicians, which should reduce some of the execution risk normally ******* ociated with entering a new country.
The opportunity is particularly attractive because Hims can introduce multiple healthcare categories rather than relying on a single product. Weight loss, men's health, and eventually women's health give the company several avenues to increase customer acquisition and spending per subscriber. Combining services Australians previously purchased separately could also increase customer lifetime value.
The Australian market could also strengthen Hims' international scale. The company has already expanded into Europe through its acquisition of Zava, and Australia provides another market in which the company can leverage its technology, brand and telehealth infrastructure. If Hims & Hers Health, Inc. (NYSE:HIMS) can successfully replicate its customer-acquisition model internationally, the Australian business could become an important contributor toward its long-term $6.5 billion revenue target for 2030.

The Eastern Conference is stacked right now following all the massive changes that happened this summer. The Chicago Bulls may not be part of the conversation, but Josh Giddey wants them to be.
The Bulls underwent changes of their own, and it started before the February trade deadline. They traded Coby White to the Charlotte Hornets and Ayo Dosunmu to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
They failed to make the playoffs and quickly got to work this summer, starting with the hiring of Tiago Splitter as their new head coach. Splitter replaced Billy Donovan, who had been with the team for six seasons.
The Bulls selected Caleb Wilson with the No. 4 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and later landed Norman Powell in free agency.
They don't have marquee signings like the Philadelphia 76ers, who acquired Jaylen Brown and LeBron James, or the Miami Heat, who traded for Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks. Still, Giddey believes the Bulls are capable of surprising people.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission, joined by 22 states, has sued Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) over allegations that the company secretly inflated prices in its advertising auctions for more than seven years. The FTC alleges that Amazon used an undisclosed "soft reserve price" to raise the amount advertisers paid above what competitive bidding would have produced.
According to the complaint, the practice affected more than one million brands and sellers and may have generated tens of billions of dollars in additional revenue for Amazon. The FTC also alleges that the pricing changes became increasingly aggressive, with advertisers paying their own bids roughly 80% of the time for Sponsored Products by 2024.
Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) disputes the allegations, arguing that the FTC misunderstands how its advertising auctions work and that its pricing practices improve ad relevance and value for advertisers.

The biggest positive for Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is that the lawsuit does not immediately undermine the underlying strength of its advertising business. Amazon generated about $68 billion in advertising revenue in 2025, making advertising an increasingly important and high-margin contributor to the company's overall profitability.

Cheniere Energy, Inc. (NYSE:LNG) is substantially completing the Corpus Christi Stage 3 expansion, with contractor Bechtel handing over the seventh and final liquefaction train. The project adds more than 10 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG capacity, lifting Cheniere's overall production capacity to roughly 56 mtpa, an increase of more than 20%.
The timing is favorable because Cheniere is entering a period of higher production while global LNG demand remains strong. In its latest quarterly results, Cheniere raised its 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance to $7.9 billion-$8.4 billion, from $7.25 billion-$7.75 billion previously. The company also said it expects higher exports as its expansion projects ramp up. The company is not finished expanding Corpus Christi. It is also developing Midscale Trains 8 and 9, while the U.S. Energy Department has authorized additional exports from those trains.
The biggest positive is that Cheniere now has additional LNG capacity coming online at an established export facility. The completion of Stage 3 allows Cheniere to increase volumes without having to build an entirely new LNG terminal from scratch. The company expects increased exports next year as it benefits from a full year of production from its expansion projects. That creates a relatively straightforward growth path: more LNG volumes can generate more revenue, while the existing infrastructure and long-term commercial arrangements can support attractive cash generation.
Cheniere Energy, Inc. (NYSE:LNG) is positioned to benefit from continued growth in LNG consumption, particularly in Europe and Asia. U.S. LNG deliveries to Asia reached a quarterly record of 11 million metric tons in Q2 2026, while Cheniere continues to see strong demand and competitive pricing in new contract negotiations. The company's scale also gives it an advantage as global buyers seek reliable LNG supplies. The U.S. has become the world's largest LNG exporter, with Cheniere playing a central role in that export growth.
The completion of Stage 3 further increases the gap between Cheniere and competing U.S. LNG exporters. The project takes Corpus Christi's production capabilities to a much higher level and gives Cheniere greater exposure to international LNG demand. This scale can also improve the company's ability to serve customers across different markets and capture attractive destination pricing. Cheniere has historically used strong cash generation to return capital to shareholders while continuing to invest in expansion. The company is balancing shareholder returns with investments in additional production capacity.

Oisin McConville will remain Wicklow senior football boss for the 2027 season after leading the county to this year's dramatic Tailteann Cup triumph.
McConville, who was appointed before the 2023 season, masterminded the Garden County's stunning comeback in the Tailteann Cup final against Down as they rallied from 13 points down to beat the favourites 1-21 to 2-16 at Croke Park.
The win guaranteed Wicklow's place in the 2027 All-Ireland series and McConville will remain in place for the campaign.
Before competing for the Sam Maguire, the 50-year-old will hope to guide the Leinster county out of Division Four having narrowly missed out on promotion in the past two seasons.
McConville - an All-Ireland winner with Armagh in 2002 - steered Wicklow to promotion to Division Three in 2023, but they were relegated the following year.

Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX), GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV), India's ONGC, Italy's Eni and Colombia's GeoPark are reportedly close to signing final agreements for energy projects in Venezuela after months of negotiations. Most of the agreements would move existing oil contracts under Venezuela's amended hydrocarbons law, which gives foreign companies more flexibility to operate and expand fields, export crude and receive cash proceeds from sales. Some agreements would also cover new electricity and energy projects.
For Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX), the opportunity could be particularly significant. The company is seeking to add a block in Venezuela's Orinoco Belt, which could allow it to expand an existing joint venture with state-owned PDVSA. It is also pursuing an area in Monagas North that could provide diluents needed for its extra-heavy oil production. The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Chevron was close to securing rights to two additional heavy-oil fields.
The agreements would represent another step toward reopening Venezuela's energy sector to foreign investment, but the final list of companies and terms had not yet been finalized at the time of the Reuters report.
The biggest positive is greater access to Venezuela's enormous oil resources. The amended hydrocarbons framework could give foreign companies more control over their operations and improve their ability to monetize production. For Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX), additional acreage in the Orinoco Belt could provide a meaningful avenue to increase long-term Venezuelan production.
Chevron also has an advantage over companies entering Venezuela for the first time because it already operates joint ventures in the country. That existing infrastructure, relationships, and operational experience could allow it to capture opportunities more efficiently as the sector reopens. The Wall Street Journal has noted that Chevron is currently the only major U.S. oil company operating in Venezuela.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase has established himself among the NFL's elite at his position, but three former stars stand above the rest when it comes to his personal favorites.
Asked to name his top three receivers of all-time, Chase went with Randy Moss, Julio Jones and Antonio Brown.
The inclusion of Brown was the most intriguing selection, and Chase acknowledged that some might question the choice.
"And I know people might be like AB?! But if you look at his stats at the top of his game, he was far and above everybody with yards and touchdowns. It was crazy," Chase wrote to USA Today Sports in conjunction with the release of his Fabletics collection.
Brown's peak helps explain Chase's admiration.

On August 31, Baird upgraded Deere & Company (NYSE:DE) to Outperform from Neutral and raised its price target to $800 from $640, implying meaningful upside from the share price cited in the report. The upgrade is based on an expected improvement in North American agricultural fundamentals in 2027.
Baird expects mid-2027 corn futures to move above farmer breakeven levels, while soybean economics are also improving. Deteriorating crop conditions and tighter projected stocks-to-use ratios could support higher crop prices and improve per-acre farmer margins.
That matters for Deere because stronger farm profitability typically gives farmers more room to purchase large tractors, combines, planters, and other equipment. The timing is important because Deere's management has previously indicated that 2026 should represent the bottom of the current agricultural equipment cycle. At the same time, the company's Production & Precision Agriculture business remains under pressure, showing that the expected recovery has not fully reached its results yet.
Photo by Sebastian Gómez on Unsplash
The biggest bullish argument is that higher corn and soybean prices could signal the start of a new agricultural equipment replacement cycle. Farmers have delayed major machinery purchases during the downturn, so sustained improvement in crop economics could unlock pent-up demand.
