Morgan Rogers has been linked with a summer move to **** nal as the attacker continues to impress and develop at Aston Villa.
At Villa Park, Rogers has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet and played a key role in the squad that recently won the Europa League. His performances have enhanced his reputation and made him one of the most highly regarded attacking players in the Premier League.
Villa regard him as one of their most valuable **** ets and are determined to retain his services. While the club understand that every player has a market value, they remain committed to building a competitive squad capable of challenging for honours regularly.
Villa are working hard to establish themselves among the strongest teams in England and to continue competing for major trophies. Their recent progress has provided players such as Rogers with plenty of reasons to remain at the club and continue their development in a familiar environment.
The attacker has become a central figure in the team and enjoys a prominent role within the squad. That level of importance could be difficult to replicate elsewhere, particularly at clubs with greater depth and competition for places.

Yael Averbuch West has never been particularly interested in standing still. As a player, entrepreneur and now one of the most influential executives in women’s soccer, she has built a career around the belief that there is always another level to reach.
Now, Averbuch West is taking on an even bigger ***** le at Gotham FC. The club has promoted its general manager and head of soccer operations to president of soccer operations, a move that reflects her central role in building one of the NWSL’s most ambitious and successful organizations. The move recognizes Averbuch West’s influence over virtually every aspect of Gotham’s sporting operation, from roster construction and player recruitment to long-term strategic planning.
The ***** le may be new, but the mission remains unchanged: building Gotham into a global women’s soccer powerhouse, on and off the field. “Ultimately, my responsibility remains very much the same,” Averbuch West told The Athletic. “As we progress as a club, I will continue to carry a large responsibility to push forward the overall club strategy and to represent our club in a number of capacities.”
The promotion comes at a pivotal moment for both Gotham and the NWSL.
The club is building a state-of-the-art training facility, exploring a future move into New York City FC’s Etihad Park in Queens, and positioning itself as one of the league’s premier destinations for elite talent. When she took the helm at Gotham FC in 2021, Averbuch West became the first former U.S. Women’s National Team player to be named general manager of an NWSL club. Since then, she has built a reputation as one of the best general managers in the league after leading Gotham to a championship in 2023, 2025 and the Concacaf W Champions Cup (2024–25) ***** le.

Liverpool’s next chapter is moving swiftly towards its official unveiling after Andoni Iraola landed in Liverpool on Thursday morning ahead of his expected appointment as the club’s new head coach.
The 43-year-old Spaniard touched down at Liverpool John Lennon Airport after travelling from San Sebastián, with formalities now expected to be completed before the club confirms one of the most significant managerial appointments of the summer. According to the original source, the Liverpool Echo, Iraola is set to sign a two-year contract after already reaching a verbal agreement with the club.
For Liverpool supporters, it marks the beginning of a fresh era. For Iraola, it is the opportunity of a lifetime.
There was an unmistakable sense of anticipation around Merseyside as news emerged that Iraola had arrived in the city. Images from Liverpool John Lennon Airport showed the coach arriving on a private flight before being transported away from the runway.
The move has gathered momentum rapidly since Liverpool opted to part company with former head coach Arne Slot at the end of last weekend. Club officials have moved decisively in identifying a successor, with Iraola emerging as the preferred candidate throughout the process.

Since franchise legend Buster Posey took over as president of baseball operations for the San Francisco Giants, he’s preached one thing. Well, he’s preached many things, but one has stood taller than the rest: pitching and defense.
Pitching and defense, just as the ballpark was built for.
Pitching and defense, just as they leaned on during their dynastic run that Posey was at the helm of.
Pitching and defense, just as they did in The Good Ol’ Days.
Pitching and defense and pitching and defense and pitching and defense and juuuust enough hitting to prop it all up.

Back in January of this year, the Minnesota Vikings fired General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah after four seasons with the organization. This came shortly after extending Adofo-Mensah, which left some surprised, but fans were thankful for the move. However, the franchise would choose not to hire a GM until after the draft, a move that left some confused.
Minnesota would bring in Nolan Teasley from the Seattle Seahawks to fill the role of General Manager. Teasley spent the last three seasons as the Seahawks ***** istant General Manager, after spending almost a decade in scouting. In a recent interview, he peeled back the curtain on how he builds his rosters.
“I’m not arrogant enough to tell you that I’m better at watching football than you are… my superpower is the ability to take in information from a lot of different people that have different areas of expertise, then implement that and build a process off that off of that, that ultimately leads me to try and make sound decisions in a short period of time.”
The excitement around the hire seems justified. The mindset he has has shown to work for him and the Seattle Seahawks and now the Vikings hope it carries over.

Three days into the meaty month of college football recruiting, Pat Fitzgerald landed a linebacker for Michigan State’s future.
Matthew Brady from Bloomington, Illinois, announced on Wednesday, June 3, via X that he will join the Spartans’ 2027 recruiting class. That makes eight commitments for the first-year coach in his first full recruiting cycle since being hired late last year.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Brady is a three-star recruit from Bloomington Central Catholic who is rated the nation’s No. 1,360 player overall and is No. 122 at linebacker according to 247Sports.com’s composite rankings. The 46th-rated player in Illinois picked MSU over offers from the Illini, Northwestern, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech and a number of Group of 5 programs.
Fitzgerald hinted on social media Tuesday night that the Spartans could potentially have two recruits committing today.

Coach Darren Bazeley called it "really disappointing" as his New Zealand side suffered a demoralizing 4-0 World Cup warm-up defeat to fellow qualifiers Haiti on Tuesday, in a match delayed by lightning in Florida.
It was New Zealand's heaviest loss in nine years and a rude awakening with a friendly against England next and the World Cup in North America just over a week away.
The game at Inter Miami's stadium in Fort Lauderdale -- which teed up two of the lowest-ranked teams at the World Cup -- started 30 minutes late because of the weather.
When it did begin, Haiti took the lead after 12 minutes through Ruben Providence.
The 32-year-old New Zealand defender Tim Payne, who has become an unlikely social media star, was among a raft of players to come off at half-time.

PROVIDENCE — Ponaganset’s march through the loser’s bracket in this Division II softball tournament will extend to the season’s final weekend.
Johnston became the latest upset victim for the Chieftains on this perfect Tuesday night at Rhode Island College. Claire Barrett and Ella McKenney made the key swings at the plate while Mattea Mello handled the work in the circle.
The Panthers suffered a similar fate to Barrington, Kent County and Portsmouth before them. Only top seed Lincoln remains on this unlikely journey after No. 7 Ponaganset rallied past Johnston, 5-2, to book a place in Saturday’s **** le-round opener.
Barrett raced around the bases for an inside-the-park home run in the top of the second inning, handing the Chieftains a 3-2 lead. McKenney added some insurance in the top of the fifth by lacing a two-run triple to the gap in left-center. Mello retired eight straight hitters on two different occasions and limited the Panthers to just the two runs they scratched out in the bottom of the first.
“This is a big confidence builder for our team,” Mello said. “I feel like we’re going to keep carrying this energy to the weekend.”

SEATTLE (AP) — Mariners first baseman Josh Naylor, who exited Monday night’s victory over the New York Mets with back spasms, was out of the lineup Tuesday.
Naylor hit a tying home run off reliever Brooks Raley in the seventh inning Monday, but by the time he returned to the dugout, his back had stiffened up. Seattle manager Dan Wilson decided to give Naylor the day off Tuesday but said he could be available off the bench.
“(He’s) feeling better today for sure,” Wilson said.
Patrick Wisdom, who replaced Naylor at first base on Monday, was playing first again and batting seventh against the Mets. Wilson is batting .133 in six games.
Naylor is batting .254 with six homers and 25 RBIs. He got off to a frigid start this year, hitting .102 with two RBIs through Seattle’s first 15 games. The 28-year-old turned it on in May, batting .296 in 108 at-bats.

The last time the Spurs and Knicks met in the NBA Finals, you could not have watched highlights from the game on your iPhone — the first iPhone was eight years away. There also would have been no highlights on YouTube (2005), Twitter (2006, now X), or Instagram (2010).
Yet there are some similarities between those 1999 Finals and this year's showdown. The Spurs are led by a big man (Tim Duncan then, Victor Wembanyama now), with quality perimeter players around them (Avery Johnson and Sean Elliott then, Stephon Castle and De'Aaron Fox now). The Knicks were gritty and found ways to win then, just as they do now, even if the roster makeup is a very different style (Patrick Ewing-focused rather than Jalen Brunson-focused).
In 2026, San Antonio enters as the betting favorite even though the Knicks have won 11 in a row and enter the Finals on a historic hot streak. Who do the NBC Sports experts expect to take home the ***** le, the Spurs in a repeat of 1999, or the Knicks getting some revenge and their first ***** le since 1973? Here are our picks.
I preface this pick with an acknowledgment: The Knicks can win this series. If they stay red hot from 3, if they dominate the offensive glass (as they did in the NBA Cup Finals matchup of these teams), and if their wings OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges can put up big numbers, they can take the Finals and hoist a banner at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks match up as well as anyone with Wemby, and the best way to attack the Knicks is not the Spurs' preferred style of play.
I just don't believe New York can keep that going at a high enough level to win four of seven. I think the soft East has led to a perception that this good team is a little better than it actually is. In the end, talent wins out in the NBA and I think the Spurs are more talented, more versatile (especially with De'Aaron Fox and Dylan Harper looking healthy again), and will ask questions the Knicks just can't answer. This San Antonio team is different — better, more confident, and now battle-tested — than the one the Knicks beat during the season. New York will win a couple but not enough, and the Spurs take the series.

NFL fans expected a major trade to happen today, but not this. The Cleveland Browns announced they have traded two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams.
Here are the details on the trade, according to Ian Rapoport.
“Now agreed to and official: The #Browns are trading Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the #Rams for star edge Jared Verse, a 2027 1st-round, a 2028 2nd round, and a 2029 3rd, per me, AdamSchefter and TomPelissero.
The offseason's biggest trade is final and real.”
Naturally, it was a shock to learn that the Browns have traded arguably their best player to the Rams, especially for Browns fans.
