Hands up if you knew this was coming. I certainly did. The first look from jury president Maggie Gyllenhaal was always likely to be a) a suit and b) black.
And I don't begrudge her either choice. A black The Row suit makes sense for her first official photocall as president of the jury, and this feels entirely in keeping with Maggie's style and her role at the festival. The tailoring is clean, with the velvet collar and cuffs providing the only contrast.
The only thing I would change is the trouser length. There is too much fabric pooling around her shoes, which takes away from the otherwise sharp tailoring.

Apple stock just had its best day in five weeks as John Ternus took over from Tim Cook as CEO, becoming just the company's third chief executive this century.
The rally has pushed Apple away from a support zone near $310 and back toward its late-July record area near $340 — giving shareholders a natural way to define both their downside and upside with options.
Apple (AAPL) was trading around $325 early this week, almost exactly halfway between those two levels. That sets up a strategy known as a collar.
A collar isn't a standalone options bet. The investor must own 100 Apple shares — either already held or bought outright — and then layer the options on top. In this case, that means buying one Sept. 18 $310 put and selling one Sept. 18 $340 call.
With Apple at $324.77 when the trade was priced, the $310 put cost about $2.17 per share, or $217 for one contract. The $340 call brought in about $2.12 per share, or $212.

The NFL and NFL Players ****** ociation announced this week, out of the blue, a new procedure for imposing automatic suspensions on players who commit three violations of one of five specific safety rules: hip-drop tackles, horse-collar tackles, launching, hits on defenseless players, and blindside blocks.
There's a lot to process in this yellow-card style approach to stacking violations in advance of automatic consequences.
First, it's important to remember that a suspension only happens when a player commits three violations of one of the five specific rules. In theory, a player could have two violations as to each rule and not be suspended.
Second, some have asked what happens when there's a fourth violation. For each violation after the third, the player gets suspended for one game. And, because a player who has three violations in a given year carries two of them into the next season, a player who is suspended once will continue to be one infraction away from another suspension for the rest of the current season — and for all of the next season.
Third, the formula extends into the postseason. If the player gets his third violation in Week 18, he misses the first playoff game. If he gets his third violation in the wild-card round, he'll be suspended for the divisional round (if his team wins). If his team loses in the playoff round when the third violation occurs, he'll miss Week 1 of the next season.

Jonathan Bensamoun's startup Fi is a rare breed in the VC landscape.
The smart pet collar startup is approaching $100 million in annual recurring revenue and, despite not raising capital for the past five years, doesn't plan to do so anytime soon.
"If you can do it without, why wouldn't you?" Bensamoun said of just fundraising for the sake of it. The issue is not whether he can, but the cost that capital comes at.
"I think it's a trap, I think you de-rich yourself and your investors … when you fundraise," said Bensamoun, whose company previously raised nearly $40 million across three rounds, according to PitchBook data. "And you bring someone with a lot of influence on the business, so there is a risk factor there."
Bensamoun points to the buzzy startup Juicero, a $700 Wi-Fi-connected juice press that raised $120 million. The company imploded just 16 months after launching when it was discovered that users didn't need the expensive machine to squeeze the juice.

Williams, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound fourth-year wide receiver, started the Huskies' first two games of the season at home against Colorado State and UC Davis before he suffered a collarbone injury in UW's 70-10 win over the Aggies that forced him to miss the next two months.
The former four-star recruit in the 2022 class was expected to return for a November 8 road game at Wisconsin, but a freak hand injury that resulted from Williams getting his hand stuck in a teammate's face mask in practice ended a return to the field in Jedd Fisch's second season as the Huskies' coach.
Eldridge, a Lynden, Washington native who returned home last year after spending two seasons at USC in 2023-24, played in the first seven games of the season before he suffered a season-ending foot injury in UW's 24-7 loss at Michigan in mid-October.

So how would this new procedure have applied in recent years? Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the NFLPA informed players on Wednesday that one player would have been suspended in 2024, and one player would have been suspended in 2025.
Players often view fines as the cost of playing football the way they believe football should be played. The possibility of a suspension should make them view it differently, because a third violation of the same rule will keep them off the field.

Nine Mile Metals Ltd. (CSE:NINE, OTCID:VMSXF, FRA:KQ9) reported **** ay results from its Wedge Mine in the Bathurst Mining Camp, New Brunswick, intersecting two distinct volcanogenic massive sulphide zones carrying copper, lead, zinc, silver and gold.
The hole, collared in the southwest corner of the company's drill pattern at a depth of 224 metres, intersected an upper zone of 9.85 metres from 80.15 to 90 metres and a lower zone of 33 metres from 105 to 138 metres, for combined mineralization of 42.85 metres.
Grades increased with depth, the company said in a statement.
The drill core consisted of massive pyritic VMS with locally visible chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena, hosted in felsic volcanics and sediments. The upper zone showed higher silver and zinc grades, while the lower zone carried higher copper along with silver and gold.
"This was our first hole in the southwest and it did not disappoint," said Gary Lohman, Nine Mile's vice president exploration. "With solid copper mineralization in addition to both gold and silver, this bodes well for expanding our resource in the western portion of the Wedge."

Barcelona may be heading back towards a more traditional look for the 2027/28 season, with an early leak offering a first glimpse of what could become the club's next home kit.
An image shared by the X account memorabilia1899, which specialises in Barcelona-related kit and product leaks, points towards several major changes from the design being used during the 2026/27 campaign.
The account behind the leak has also acknowledged that early kit designs can change before production, placing the reliability of its information at around 80%.
The proposed shirt features darker, more traditional shades of blaugrana, narrow vertical stripes and, most notably, a ****** on-down collar.
Barcelona have experimented with several different home kit designs over the years, but a ****** on-down collar would give the shirt a distinctly classic feel and mark a clear break from the more modern look of recent seasons.

The Queen braved the rain on the first day of the Ebor Festival at York Racecourse on Wednesday, turning to one of Princess Kate's favorite accessories for her equestrian day out.
Queen Camilla, who serves as patron of York Racecourse, stayed dry in a classic tan trench coat over her collared blue dress, carrying one of Queen Elizabeth's beloved clear birdcage umbrellas by Fulton.
The Queen once again chose her sparkling diamond and sapphire ****** erfly brooch— a piece that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth—but it was Camilla's hat that stole the show during the racing festival. Her feather-trimmed, cornflower blue style was a custom creation by milliner Philip Treacy, and it brings to mind several of the hats the Princess of Wales has worn in recent years.

Tata Consultancy Services, India's largest private employer, cut 12,200 middle and senior managers last year. It also trained 114,000 employees in AI. Both happened while the company posted record revenue of more than $30 billion.
TCS wasn't alone. Across India's five biggest IT services firms, every company earned more in fiscal year 2026 while employing fewer people. The combined workforce shrank by 7,389, according to Moneycontrol. The previous year, those same employers had added 12,718 jobs.
India's outsourcing industry employs nearly six million people and contributes an estimated 12% of the country's GDP. Economists have begun warning that AI could eliminate white-collar jobs faster than past waves of automation, and the sector where the entire business model depends on billing clients for human hours is where that's already happening.
The cuts at TCS targeted experienced staff in roles "where redeployment and reskilling have not been feasible," according to The Federal. Infosys, the country's second-largest IT services firm, lost 8,440 workers in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026 alone, according to Moneycontrol, even as the company reported a 4.2% revenue increase in constant currency for fiscal year 2025.
AI services are filling the gap. Infosys CEO Salil Parekh told **** ysts that AI work accounted for 8.2% of total revenue by the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, growing at a double-digit pace. Srini Pallia, CEO of Wipro, another of India's top five IT firms, said in the company's second-quarter fiscal year 2026 earnings call that "AI is no longer experimental" and now "central to our clients' strategies."

Jordyn Tyson is expected to be sidelined for about two months. Is the high-priced rookie still draftable in all fantasy leagues, and who has the best shot at claiming the Saints' #2 WR role?
Admittedly, I was confused when New Orleans used their #8 overall pick on Tyson. Yes, he's exceptionally talented and could be a team's #1 WR someday. But expending that much draft capital on a guy who suffered a severe knee injury in 2022, a broken collarbone in 2024, and hamstring issues didn't make sense.
Now this team has a gaping hole at receiver, while Chris Olave's value couldn't get much higher. However, Tyler Shough's value takes a hit, as he loses a terrific playmaker who could have helped elevate his quarterback.
While Tyson's current overall ADP is 86, fantasy managers should be cautious about drafting him anywhere in the top 140. Yes, you could place him on IR and hope he returns by early November.
But that also would limit your ability to place a more reliable fantasy ***** et on IR if your roster faces more injuries. Plus, there's no guarantee that Tyson will return in two months. This franchise probably will play it safe with their first-round pick. I'd put his over/under on rookie receptions at 30.5.

There's a lot more green at the University of Michigan Golf Course. All 18 greens at the storied course, located directly across the street from Michigan Stadium, are on the road to recovery after vandals allegedly damaged them in mid-July.
The greens at UM Golf Course were left discolored by an act of alleged "foul play" last month, forcing the grounds crew to resod the collars on all 18 holes. The course closed down the greens a few at a time. UM Golf Course told members this week that it used the incident as an opportunity to restore three of the greens to their original sizes.
UM Golf Course recently showed off before and after pictures on its Instagram.
UM Golf Course added a note that read: "RESILIENCE: the ability to withstand and bounce back from adversity. A lot of hard work, care, and determination from our team have got us to this point 4 weeks later. The work isn't done, but we're proud of the progress and grateful to everyone who has helped us get here."
