DZfoot journalist Ilyes Kaddouri reports that there has been some direct contact between Bayer Leverkusen and Karim Benzema.
The superstar even inquired about the club with his former teammates Lucas Vázquez and Moussa Diaby and is now said to be interested.
On Instagram, Benzema only follows his former clubs Lyon, Real Madrid and Al Hilal on Instagram – but now Leverkusen as well.
Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that the former Real Madrid superstar is on his way to the Rhineland outfit immediately.
Despite ending his relationship with Al Hilal prematurely, he's still under contract at the Saudi Pro League club until 2030.

According to L'Équipe, the Italy boss travelled to the French capital specifically to watch defender Diego Coppola and forward Luca Koleosho, both of whom started for the hosts. The pair have been capped twice each at senior level for the Azzurri.

The Bees created a great chance following a flowing move in the second minute with Enrique Roca releasing Madden down the left. His cross found the opposite winger, Dwayne Mason, at the back post but he missed the target under pressure and on the stretch.
Kasujja then did well to fashion himself a sight at goal after a clever touch in the box allowed him to get a deflected strike off that Adam Brogan held on to at the second attempt.
Gary McDermott's side were much the brighter of the two in the opening ten, this time Jai Bansoodeb feinted past two Cherries defenders before forcing Brogan to save with his feet from a driven effort.

After coming back to Santiago Bernabeu with heaps of promise and an excellent loan spell at Lyon, Endrick's season hasn't really unfolded the way he was hoping for.

The quarterback completed 28 of 38 pass attempts for 305 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Warriors to their first win of the season - a 56-13 rout of Buda Johnson.
The second-year starter repeatedly found receiver Cade Diamond (11 catches, 127 yards, 3 TDs) as the Warriors' passing attack shredded the Jaguars' defense.
Lyons won the weekly fan poll over four fellow finalists to earn Athlete of the Week honors.
Johnson sophomore receiver Braelyn Allen accounted for three touchdowns in the Jaguars' 38-7 road win over then-No. 23 Austin Vandegrift. He caught nine passes for 90 yards and a score and rushed for 22 yards and two scores on two carries and was named Offensive Player of the Week.

Sauimoana Purcell hammered 21 kills while Kealoha Lyons tallied eight kills and four blocks as No. 3-ranked Kamehameha swept No. 6 Mid-Pacific 25-19, 25-9, 25-22 on Wednesday night in the ILH regular-season volleyball opener for both teams.
Humidity was extreme in Honolulu at 82%, and felt closer to 90 in Kekuhaupio Gymnasium at Kamehameha. It didn't seem to affect the Warriors (15-5 overall), who had pinpoint setting by Alayah Wilson (24 **** ists) and Tiahna Aldeguer (17).
Ali Samia added six kills and one ace, while Faith Iokia chipped in five kills. Junior libero Mikela Arellano led a stellar back-row defensive effort while Kamehameha's defensive teamwork on the pin was consistent.
"Our right fronts coming in there, Faith, Ayva-Ray (Malepeai), Maddie (Madison-Rose Marsh), they're important for our defense," Kamehameha coach Chris Blake said. "Kealoha is doing a lot of great things for us in the front row and had a great service turn right there to help us at the end."

The Catalan side have been named among the five nominees for the 2026 Women's Club of the Year, an award that recognises the team considered to have achieved the most during the season.

KYIV, Sept 7 (Reuters) - The air raid alert in Kyiv was live, warning of approaching Russian jet-propelled drones, but fortunately there were no explosions nearby during the final phase of Alyona Bohatyrenko's labour.
"I gave birth during an air alert!" beamed the 32-year-old, as she lay in her hospital bed cradling her baby daughter minutes after she was born. "None of this is normal, but ... you get used to it somehow."
Doctors at Kyiv City Maternity Hospital No. 2 took a calculated risk by delivering Bohatyrenko's baby on the ward while the skies over the city were under threat.
The same was true for Yuliia Ishchuk, 26, who also gave birth there last Wednesday.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing the Real Madrid attacker Endrick.
According to reports via CaughtOffside, they are preparing a January move to sign the talented young Brazilian, and they could submit an offer of around €60-70 million.
The Brazilian attacker has attracted the attention of top clubs in recent months, but Real Madrid chose to keep him at the club during the summer transfer window. The 20-year-old was on loan at Lyon during the second half of last season, and he was exceptional for the French outfit. Endrick had 16 goal contributions last season.
There is no doubt that he is a phenomenal talent with a bright future, and he could develop into a key player for Manchester United. They could use more quality and depth in the final third, and Endrick could be a solid long-term acquisition.
Joshua Zirkzee has been linked with a move away from Manchester United, and they will need to replace him properly. It remains to be seen whether they can get a deal for the Brazilian international.

Approached by the management of the Rhône-based club, where he came through the ranks, the Ballon d'Or winner had expressed enthusiasm at the prospect of once again donning the Rouge & Bleu colours. So much so that he was prepared to play there without receiving any remuneration.
However, despite mutual interest from all parties, the deal could not be finalised, as Benzema had not yet been released from his contract with Al-Hilal at that time – something he has since done. His role as an ambassador for the Saudi league, which runs until 2030 and which the striker was keen to honour, also proved to be an obstacle to a potential move to another country.

Uefa has banned Fenerbahce midfielder Matteo Guendouzi for his team's opening two Champions League fixtures following a series of provocations and insults during a chaotic play-off victory away at Lyon last month.

It will be a spirited crowd on Monday night when the No. 19 SMU Mustangs come to Doak Campbell Stadium to take on the Florida State Seminoles. It's the ACC opener for both schools, and it will set the tone for conference play for each program in 2026.
FSU was able to pick up a win in their season opener thanks in large part to only allowing 17 points. With that said, they need to improve in multiple areas against SMU if they want to come out with a victory.

Less-than-truckload carrier FedEx Freight announced Wednesday after the market closed that it has terminated Mike Lyons, its chief specialized services and commercial officer. Lyons was appointed to the role in June 2025, one year ahead of the company's spinoff from FedEx Corp.
"Following an internal investigation, the Company determined Mr. Lyons violated its Code of Conduct and no longer met the standards of employment at FedEx Freight," a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission stated. "Mr. Lyons's conduct was not related to and did not impact the Company's financial reporting or performance, internal controls, strategy, or customer relationships."
The company said duties performed by Lyons will be reassigned to other executives while it conducts a search for a replacement.
Lyons had been with the company for 19 years, according to his LinkedIn page. He led commercial strategy and customer experience as well as FedEx Custom Critical.
FedEx (NYSE: FDX) announced the new executive leadership team for FedEx Freight (NYSE: FDXF) in June 2025.

The Alabama Crimson Tide basketball program is keeping it all in the family.
The program announced Thursday that Nate Oats' wife, Alex Accetta, is returning to Tuscaloosa to rejoin his staff in a new role. Accetta previously worked as a student ******* istant in 2015 before she was promoted to operations coordinator two years later. She eventually took over as director of operations in 2021 before leaving for the NBA.
Accetta's new role will be Alabama's director of program relations, according to a release by the school.
"Alex has an extensive background and proven success in this ******* e at both the collegiate and professional levels," Alabama executive deputy AD Shane Lyons said in a statement. "With her previous experience, she has a strong understanding of our program and what it takes to effectively operate at the highest competitive levels.
"She returns to Alabama basketball after four seasons with the NBA Dallas Mavericks, and we expect her professional franchise experience and insights to continue to advance all we do."
This comes at a time when the Mavericks are trying to settle in with Dusty May, who came over from Michigan after winning a national championship.

The Alabama Crimson Tide basketball program is keeping it all in the family.
The program announced Thursday that Nate Oats' wife, Alex Accetta, is returning to Tuscaloosa to rejoin his staff in a new role. Accetta previously worked as a student ******* istant in 2015 before she was promoted to operations coordinator two years later. She eventually took over as director of operations in 2021 before leaving for the NBA.
Accetta's new role will be Alabama's director of program relations, according to a release by the school.
"Alex has an extensive background and proven success in this ******* e at both the collegiate and professional levels," Alabama executive deputy AD Shane Lyons said in a statement. "With her previous experience, she has a strong understanding of our program and what it takes to effectively operate at the highest competitive levels.
"She returns to Alabama basketball after four seasons with the NBA Dallas Mavericks, and we expect her professional franchise experience and insights to continue to advance all we do."
This comes at a time when the Mavericks are trying to settle in with Dusty May, who came over from Michigan after winning a national championship.

ISTANBUL (AP) — Mattéo Guendouzi and Mason Greenwood have been charged by UEFA over alleged provocations of Lyon fans at a Champions League qualifying playoff, their club Fenerbahce said Thursday.
Both players have played for Lyon's French rival Marseille and were seen making offensive gestures last week. Fenerbahce won 2-1 in the second leg at Lyon to advance to the Champions League main phase for the first time in 18 years.
Guendouzi raised his middle finger to Lyon fans during the warmup and after the game and shouted "Allez l'OM" ("Go Marseille"), also grabbing his crotch, in wild post-match scenes. He said Lyon fans insulted his family before and during the game.
It was unclear if UEFA's disciplinary judges will sanction the players before Fenerbahce opens the Champions League main phase next Thursday, hosting Roma. Fenerbahce's second game is at Aston Villa on Oct. 14.

Malick Fofana's chaotic move to Sunderland was "a really difficult story to cover", says BBC Senior football correspondent Sami Mokbel.
The Black Cats eventually beat Crystal Palace to the signing of the 21-year-old forward from Lyon in a deal worth £30m, after previous interest from ****** nal.
"It was really a dramatic day and definitely one of the narratives of Deadline Day for sure," Mokbel told BBC Radio Newcastle.
"With the flip-flopping, as a journalist I must say it was a really treacherous story to cover because obviously you never want to put false information out into the public domain and as journalists and correspondents we all have responsibilities to be as close to the truth and to be as accurate as possible.
"But, we were accurate at the time of when we were reporting that Sunderland had agreed the deal and it looked like he was going there.
