Though it's down by 33% over the last five years, Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) climbed from about $130 in early 2020 to over $4,800 in early November 2021, which would have been sufficient to turn an investment of $27,000 into about $1 million. It's natural for investors to wonder if another historic run is in the cards for the coin, given that it's more widely known now than it was then.
Today, with a market cap of $292 billion as of Sept. 15, Ethereum can still grow your wealth substantially, but it probably won't be a millionaire maker for those with small positions anytime soon. Let's first look at the math to see why, then examine its upcoming catalysts.
Missed AI's "Act 1"? Act 2 Could Be 15x Bigger. Most investors think they missed the AI boat because they didn't buy Nvidia in 2005. But according to our **** ysts, we're only at the end of "Act 1"—the R&D phase. "Act 2" is the global rollout. Continue »
Ethereum isn't going to be a millionaire-maker investment from here, even if you're willing to pony up a lot more capital than most investors have on hand or are willing to allocate to a lottery ticket, and even if it becomes the next cryptocurrency to explode.
Turning $10,000 into $1 million requires a 100x gain, which would boost Ethereum's market cap to $29.2 trillion.

On August 18, Himax Technologies (NASDAQ:HIMX) said its WiseEye palm vein biometric technology now powers the WAFERLOCK L322, a smart lock built by Taiwan-based WAFERLOCK Corporation that just went on sale. Instead of scanning a fingerprint or a face, the lock reads the vein pattern under a user's palm, a method Himax says still works when hands are wet, dirty, or full of groceries. The announcement lands less than two weeks after Himax posted a second quarter that beat its own guidance on revenue, margin, and profit, giving the palm vein rollout a stronger financial backdrop than it might otherwise have had.
The WAFERLOCK deal shows what Himax has been building toward with WiseEye, an ultralow-power AI platform that pairs an image sensor and processor to capture, match, and verify a palm vein image directly on the device, without sending anything to the cloud. That matters for a smart lock, where sending biometric data offsite would be a hard sell to homeowners. The L322 pairs palm vein recognition with RFID cards, PIN codes, mechanical keys, and compatibility with EasyCard, iPASS, and MIFARE, so the biometric layer sits on top of access methods people already use.
Himax said the underlying palm vein modules earned TÜV Rheinland verification during the quarter, validating their recognition accuracy, response speed, and liveness detection, and that the technology also complies with GDPR, one of the world's strictest privacy standards. Design-in activity is already spreading beyond locks into workforce management, computer monitors, and smart office equipment.
Automotive remains the larger story sitting underneath it. Automotive display drivers, timing controllers, and touch controllers made up well over half of Himax's revenue in the quarter ended June 30, and the company expects full-year 2026 automotive IC sales to grow by double digits from a year earlier as automakers pack more, larger, and higher-resolution screens into vehicle interiors.
Alongside that base, Himax pointed to two newer bets: a leading global brand launched smart glasses powered by WiseEye during the quarter, and the company's co-packaged optics products entered engineering production ramps in the third quarter, with 2027 shipments expected to significantly exceed 2026. Neither business moves the revenue needle yet, but together they give Himax more than one lever to pull.

Shares in Unitree, one of China's largest manufacturers of humanoid robots, closed their first day of trading by more than 460%, showing strong investor appetite for China's robotics sector.

Unitree raised around $900 million in its IPO on Shanghai's STAR Market, the city's board for technology startups, at a valuation of $9 billion. After today's surge, Unitree is now worth around $66 billion, ahead of larger Chinese tech firms like Baidu and JD.com. It's also worth more than the most valuable U.S. robotics company, Figure AI, which got a $39 billion valuation in a September 2025 funding round.
Investors piling into Unitree represents the hype around China's robotics sector, which is responsible for almost all shipments of humanoid robots in the first half of the year. But ******* ysts views are mixed on how much potential companies like Unitree have: While the startup continues to push what their robots can do—recently, beyond human performance—continued struggles on the software side, as well as a recent U.S. ban on foreign-made robots, could weigh on the company's future.
Unitree reported 1.7 billion yuan ($252 million) in revenue in 2025, with almost 45% of that coming from overseas sales. It also generated 600 million yuan ($89 million) in profit last year. Most of Unitree's sales go towards research purposes, though some Chinese tech companies and state-owned enterprises are starting to explore using humanoid robots in their operations.
Unitree has been backed by fellow Hangzhou startup DeepSeek, as well as big tech firms like Alibaba, Ant Group and Tencent, as well as several state-backed investment funds.
Nomura, which gave a "buy" rating to Unitree shares on Wednesday, credited Unitree's "rapid product iteration and continuous innovation" as the foundation of a "first-mover advantage."

SpaceX stock is about to get a shock that could bring it back down to earth. On Thursday, the company's first stock "lockup" expires, meaning employees and early investors who've been barred from selling their shares since the IPO can finally cash out.
Here's why that matters: 912 million shares, more than double what's currently tradable, become available all at once, according to the New York Times. Lockups exist to prevent a flood of insider selling from tanking a stock right after it goes public. Once they expire, that flood often happens anyway, and prices tend to drop.

Aug 4 (Reuters) - Spotify said higher marketing and development costs would hurt its profit in the current quarter as the Swedish music-streaming giant bets heavily on features powered by ‌AI to attract users.
The company also projected third-quarter monthly active users below Wall Street estimates on ‌Tuesday, blaming the weakness on product changes in emerging markets such as India and Indonesia that may help Spotify in raising prices.
"So examples would be sign-up changes, deprecation of old lower-end Android devices, carefully introducing some friction in the ad load with respect to increasing ad load and some limitations on our free tier as well," Co-CEO Alex Norström told Reuters.
Price hikes have become central in recent years to Spotify's push to prove it can convert its huge user base ‌into meaningful profit. The company has in recent months also leaned on AI to fend off startups built around the technology, such as Suno.

Deep Sail Capital Partners stated the following regarding Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:CRDO) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"There were a few large detractors at the end of the Q1 that have reversed in Q2 including our two biggest contributors in Q2 Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:CRDO) and Amplitech. Credo Technologies was down over 50% from its ATH by the end of March on the narrative that "Copper is dead" in data centers. That narrative has since changed in Q2 with the market beginning to realize that Credo's ZeroFlap optics platform is a real second leg for the company and the acquisition of Dust Photonics, an integrated circuit optics company, makes Credo a viable optics player. The company returned 191% in Q2. I continue to view the company favorably on a growth and valuation basis and it is one of the fund's largest holdings."

What happened: Strategy (MSTR) stock rose 5% Monday after Michael Saylor's bitcoin (BTC-USD) juggernaut disclosed that it raised $263 million by selling common stock last week.
Strategy did not buy or sell any bitcoin over the same period, according to the regulatory filing.
What's behind the move? The stock sale gives the company more runway to fund its dividends without reducing the size of its bitcoin stash.
Strategy stock is down 34% since the start of 2026. A monthlong bitcoin downturn has intensified pressure on the company, which has a complicated capital structure and growing dividend obligations.
Late last month, the firm launched a turnaround plan that included authorization to sell up to $1.25 billion of its bitcoin. The proceeds can be used to grow its cash reserve or buy back shares. Strategy also authorized as much as $2 billion in stock buybacks, split evenly between preferred and common stock.
