Grimsby Town have signed midfielder Cian Doyle on a two-year contract from Bray Wanderers.
Doyle has joined for an undisclosed fee from the League of Ireland First Division side for whom he has played 53 league games, scoring five times.
"Cian is a bright, energetic and young midfielder who we feel has a high ceiling," said Grimsby head coach David Artell.
The 21-year-old is the Mariners' fifth signing of the summer as they try to improve on last year's seventh place in League Two.

MIAMI (AP) — Clayton McCullough breathed a sigh of relief. The Marlins finally won a game.
Miami overcame two-run, ninth-inning deficit in the ninth on Monday to beat division-rival Philadelphia 8-7 and snap a 12-game losing streak — the longest such stretch in franchise history.
It was the Marlins' first win since beating Seattle at home on July 9 and ensured they would not suffer their fifth straight sweep.
"Everybody feels good," McCullough said. "It's no lie everyone in the building has been grinding hard now for a couple of weeks and frustrated with things, but certainly it feels great to get a win and I think in the fashion that we did it'd be hard to ever question this group's toughness and willingness to compete."
Griffin Conine singled in the winning run against Philadelphia closer Jhoan Duran, who entered in the ninth with a 7-5 lead before loading the bases with no outs.

STORRS – Delegation is critical when leading an organization of around 100 student-athletes and almost 40 coaches and support staff.
Jason Candle learned this a long time ago.
That is why he utilizes a leadership council, which he brought with him to UConn. There's never been a time in his career when it has been more necessary after bringing so many new faces into the football program in such a short window this offseason.
"You can't be in this position and be naive enough to think that you created a locker room with 115 really alpha males that are elite human beings and do everything right every single day. Even if that was the case, you'd miss some of the really good," Candle said.
The idea of the leadership council has been around, evolved over the years and adapted to different sports and situations. The way Candle's works is essentially by identifying the leader in each position group – typically a veteran player who's been around and knows what it takes to play in college – who will take part in regular meetings and provide feedback to the staff on what's going on and what may need to change.

George Kittle remains the standard-bearer at tight end, according to Pro Football Focus, even as the 49ers await his return from a torn Achilles.
PFF ranked Kittle No. 1 on its list of the top 32 tight ends ahead of the 2026 season, noting he led all players at the position in PFF grade (90.7) for the third straight year and the fifth time in his nine-year career.
Kittle has been one of the five highest-graded tight ends in the league in every season but his rookie year, excelling as both a receiver and run blocker. He has also been the most valuable tight end in the league across the past three seasons, according to PFF's Wins Above Replacement metric.
Kittle put up those numbers despite an injury-riddled 2025 season. He missed six games with ankle and hamstring issues before finishing with 57 catches for 628 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games, earning his seventh Pro Bowl selection. His season then ended abruptly when he tore his right Achilles while making a catch in San Francisco's Wild Card win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Jan. 11.
The 32-year-old has since called his recovery timeline "fantastic," saying he's off crutches and running at speeds topping 16 mph. He didn't practice during OTAs or minicamp, but has maintained he's on track for Week 1, when the 49ers open the season against the Rams in Melbourne, Australia.

In a recent report, Sky Sports stated that Liverpool have launched a move for Monaco playmaker Maghnes Akliouche. It has been mentioned that the Reds are facing competition from Paris Saint-Germain in the race to land the France international this off-season.
Akliouche enjoyed a good run of form at the French club after he produced a run of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 24-year-old registered seven goals and earned 11 **** ists in 43 matches for Monaco last season across all fronts.
The French talent is currently among the best wide players in Ligue 1. Hence, it is no surprise that the Reds are hoping to get a deal done for him later this year.
His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Liverpool to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Former Ohio State football offensive coordinator Chip Kelly has once again captured the attention of fans — this time because of his wardrobe.
On July 21, Kelly went viral on social media for wearing a Northwestern hard hat and a purple vest while speaking to the media at Ryan Field, Northwestern's updated football stadium that is still under construction.
"Chip Kelly. Purple vest. Hard hat. Football guy," read the caption on the original post.
"Imagine telling a Duck fan in 2010 that this was the future for Chip Kelly," wrote one account that reposted the picture.
"Chip Kelly has never more perfectly embodied Chip Kelly in his life," wrote another.

The 23-year-old centre-back has been formally offered to a number of major European clubs through intermediaries, with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig specifically named among the potential destinations.
Despite the intense administrative efforts to move him on, the player remains deeply determined to reverse his current standing and earn a regular place in the squad.
The drive to facilitate Asencio’s departure has become a central focus of Real Madrid’s summer clearout operations.
Looking to streamline a congested defensive line that recently welcomed high-profile arrivals like Ibrahima Konate, club executives are desperate to clear salary **** e and squad registration slots.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Jordyn Brooks has agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Miami Dolphins, ensuring the veteran linebacker remains a core piece of the team's rebuild, a person familiar with the deal told The ****** ociated Press.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team hadn't made an announcement. ESPN first reported the deal, which said it is worth $51.3 million with $35 million guaranteed.
Brooks was an All-Pro selection for the first time in his career last season after leading the NFL with 183 tackles, including 99 solo tackles. He was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing season that saw general manager Chris Grier and coach Mike McDaniel fired.
New GM Jon-Eric Sullivan has said the Dolphins wanted to keep Brooks long term.
Brooks, a 2020 first-round pick by Seattle, signed with Miami in free agency ahead of the 2024 season and has become a leader in the locker room. He has 326 tackles and 6 1/2 sacks over the past two seasons.

England manager Thomas Tuchel joked about Lionel Messi potentially coming into their semi-final clash against Argentina at less than 100%.
Another chapter of the iconic footballing rivalry between England and Argentina will enter the history books at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ahead of Lionel Messi's first-ever clash against England, manager Thomas Tuchel joked about the one thing he's hoping happens to Messi before their clash on Wednesday.
When asked about what major Argentine strength he'd want to take away in the semi-final, Tuchel cracked a joke about Messi catching a cold before emphasizing he wants both teams at a 100%.
"Maybe that Messi will have a cold tomorrow. No no no, we wanna play against the strongest Argentina, and we want to be the strongest England. Of course we'll try to beat them, we want to beat them, and we'll try to find solutions. We want to take the advantages away on the field and be worthy winners."

Manchester United have completed the signing of Wales international goalkeeper Karl Darlow on a two-year deal.
The 35-year-old joins the club on a free transfer from Leeds United where he spent the last three seasons, including featuring 22 times for the Whites in the Premier League last season.
Darlow is likely to become the backup to Senne Lammens in the Red Devils' pecking order, a move that also opens the door for Altay Bayindir to leave the club with rumours of a return to Turkey.
"I am extremely proud to sign for Manchester United," Darlow said on his arrival. "I’m joining an excellent group of goalkeepers and I’m really looking forward to all pushing each other to ensure that we maintain the highest standards, which this club demands.
"This is a really special opportunity; everyone can see what an exciting time it is for the club and I cannot wait to play my part in supporting my team-mates and helping to drive the group forwards."

LOS ANGELES -- Two former Sparks returned to Los Angeles for the first time since leaving the team. Only one of them was active and Azurá Stevens was very happy to go back to L.A. as part of the visiting Chicago Sky.
Stevens, who had a previous stint with the Sky from 2020-22 and won a championship there in 2021, seemed ready to go back to Chicago after three years with the Sparks.
"I miss the city a lot," Stevens said when asked about going back to the Sky. "I miss the (organization). And it's really familiar to me. Obviously, I've played there for three years. Just a lot of familiarity."
The Sky acquired a lot of players in the free agency period, including Stevens. And she's excited in what this squad could do.
"I think just being utilized in a lot of different ways," Stevens said. "Me and Kamilla (Cardoso) are such a great duo. So it's been really fun playing with her. Obviously, it's fun being back playing in (Chicago). Then (Natasha Cloud), (Skylar Diggins), a bunch of new players, people I've played with a little bit, but just all coming together, it's been really exciting."

As Linda Noskova stepped up to the baseline, Wimbledon's Centre Court crowd held its breath.
When she led 6-2 5-2 with five championship points against Karolina Muchova, Noskova's nerves had hit, and she found herself dragged to a deciding set.
But this time, on championship point number six, a serve came cracking down that Muchova could barely get a racquet to, the ball trickling away just a few yards along the grass.
Noskova, after a remarkable show of resilience and determination, was the Wimbledon champion.
To recover from the position she found herself in was - in the words of the legendary John McEnroe - "one of the all-time greatest efforts you will ever see on this court".

The standing ovation for Harbaugh from the ******* embled Giants fans inside Beacon Theatre back in May for the team's Town Hall event was only just the beginning.

Jul. 10—MITCHELL — At the end of last season, the Mitchell High School boys basketball team missed out on the Class AA state tournament for the first time in five seasons under head coach Ryker Kreutzfeldt.
In response, a sweeping reform to the Kernels' offseason programming has placed a new emphasis on challenging players and individual improvement.
Kreutzfeldt said he had focused too much on planning activities around when the most team members were available in past years, navigating schedules that included other activities, such as baseball or football, in addition to summer jobs. This year, he changed his approach by increasing the frequency of available team activities from skill work to open gyms, allowing players greater flexibility to find workouts to attend.
"I don't expect everyone to be at everything, every day, but there is something basically every day, whether you're available in the morning or at night, that you can be doing to get better," Kreutzfeldt said. "It's been a good summer so far, for sure."
Monday through Friday, the Kernels have some sort of basketball activity on the calendar. In addition to what have become standard offseason activities, such as league play and team camps, Kreutzfeldt estimates that the amount of skill development time has tripled to quadrupled this summer.

"Bad offense" is one of the easiest labels to slap on a fantasy football player, and it can be useful. Bad teams score fewer touchdowns, sustain fewer drives and create fewer spike-week opportunities. But fantasy football is not just "which teams are good?" It's volume, role, game script and how much of an offense flows through one player. A bad team can still create fantasy value if the touches or targets are concentrated enough. The harder part is figuring out which players can survive the environment and which ones are just getting dragged down with the rest of the offense.
I looked at the bottom-five scoring offenses from each of the last five seasons and tracked how many fantasy-relevant players they produced, using half-PPR scoring and positional finish thresholds.
Using the following cutoffs, I looked at how many players we actually got consistent fantasy production from despite a mostly inept offense surrounding them:
QB1: top 12
RB1/WR1/TE1: top 12

Real Madrid's summer rebuild may still be ongoing, but Jose Mourinho already appears to have a clear picture of how he wants his team to line up next season.
According to a report from Miguel Serrano, relayed by Defensa Central, the Portuguese manager has largely settled on his preferred Real Madrid starting XI for the 2026/27 campaign, with only a handful of positions still open to competition.
According to reports, Mourinho is happy with the core of his squad after several high-profile arrivals, although he is still pushing the club to strengthen in two key areas before the transfer window closes.
Mourinho's defensive setup already looks relatively clear. Summer signing Marc Cucurella is set to start at left-back, while Ibrahima Konate has been identified as one of the leaders of the new-look defence after arriving from Liverpool.
On the opposite flank, Denzel Dumfries is reportedly viewed as the first-choice right-back and one of the manager's guaranteed starters ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Fabinho’s summer has taken on fresh intrigue, the kind that tends to follow established players once their futures loosen from contract and routine. Recalled by Brazil for the 2026 World Cup after spending three seasons with Al-Ittihad, the former Liverpool midfielder now finds himself back in the market as a free agent, and speaking warmly about a club he once briefly called home.
His return to Brazil’s squad raised eyebrows in some quarters, largely because his recent football has unfolded far from Europe’s weekly glare. Yet there has been substance to his time in Saudi Arabia. Fabinho helped Al-Ittihad secure successive Saudi Pro League ******* les and also lifted the King’s Cup, adding order and experience to a side built to win quickly.
That chapter has now closed. His three-year contract in Jeddah expired at the end of June, with no extension agreed, leaving the 32-year-old free to consider the next step of a career that has already taken him through several of the modern game’s most demanding environments.
When asked about the prospect of a move back to Spain by El Chiringuito TV, Fabinho did little to dampen the conversation. “Would I like to return to Real Madrid? Who wouldn’t like being at Real Madrid? It’s the best club in the world.” It was a clear enough answer, respectful in tone, but open enough to invite speculation around a possible reunion.
His history with Real Madrid is slight, but real. He joined Real Madrid Castilla from Rio Ave in 2012, became a regular for the B team in the Segunda División and worked in close proximity to José Mourinho’s senior squad. His only first-team appearance came in May 2013, when he stepped off the bench in a 6-2 win away to Malaga.

FRISCO, TX — Collin Klein is no stranger to the various media days he participated in while becoming a Kansas State football legend as the team's quarterback, but he will make his first appearance as the program's head coach at Big 12 Media Days this week.
Klein will lead his group of Wildcats at The Star in Frisco, Texas, on Wednesday, July 8, at an event that will be televised live on ESPNU from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Klein will appear alongside quarterback Avery Johnson, running back Joe Jackson, linebacker Rex Van Wyhe, and defensive back Wesley Fair.
Here are some of the things that we hope to learn from Klein and the Wildcats in Texas:
We'll see how forthcoming Klein is about his plans for the offense he wants to roll out come opening night, but it's one of the bigger questions to start the new era.
The question is whether he sticks to the spread packages that tended to use only one tight end, as he did at Texas A&M, or if there will be heavier multi-tight-end sets in his future.

Superstar U.S. men’s national team forward Folarin Balogun has been on a magical World Cup run for the team, scoring three goals and tying Landon Donovan for the second-most goals by an American in a single World Cup tournament.
Now, his status for the upcoming round of 16 matchup against Belgium has become a heated international incident, raising questions about whether FIFA’s rules are applied equally across nations.
Team USA is listed at -122 on FanDuel to advance to the next round and win versus Belgium on Monday night. Our complete FanDuel Sportsbook review provides a useful guide on how to navigate through their platform.
Balogun was due to serve a one-game ban after being sent off in the 64th minute of the U.S. Men’s team’s 2-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 1, after a video review deemed his challenge on defender Tarik Muharemovic a bad one. The red card itself was met with dislike from Balogun, noting the challenge was involuntary as the two players battled for the ball.
“If you played the game, you would understand there are scenarios that you simply can’t avoid, and it has to be taken into context when it’s being reviewed,” Balogun said.

Titans defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons played his first five NFL seasons with Mike Vrabel as his head coach, and never reached the Super Bowl. That gave him mixed emotions when he saw Vrabel get to the Super Bowl last year with the Patriots.
Simmons said on Terron Armstead’s podcast that he still has a great relationship with Vrabel and was happy for his success in Year One in New England, but also disappointed Vrabel couldn't help Simmons reach the Super Bowl in Tennessee.
"Was I surprised?" Simmons said. "I think we all would be surprised if this guy, first year in New England, they go straight to the Super Bowl. First off, I'm jealous as ******* . Like what? I was just with you four years, and you couldn't get me to the Super Bowl? But I could call Vrabel right now and he'd answer the phone. You build that relationship off the football field, and I think that's the thing with Vrabel. It's the same with Saleh, when you can build that relationship with players off the football field, and not just on the football field, they're going to play as hard as they can for you."
Simmons said that as he watched Vrabel and many of the ******* istant coaches who were with him in Tennessee get to the Super Bowl in their first year in New England, it gave him high hopes for what the ******* ans can do this year with new head coach Robert Saleh.
"I was surprised. He took the whole Tennessee ******* ans staff with him," Simmons said. "Coach Robert Saleh, first year? Why not?"
