Greg Abel took over as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB) at the start of 2026. Former CEO Warren Buffett left Abel a huge gift: nearly $400 billion in cash on the company's balance sheet. Abel has put some of that cash to work buying Taylor Morrison Home, and some has been spent on publicly traded stock investments. However, Abel has also decided to buy back Berkshire Hathaway stock. That could be a positive sign. Here's why.

The Baltimore Ravens are preparing for an Indianapolis Colts roster that underwent meaningful changes on both sides of the ball. Bosa, the 2022 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, played in three games last season before he tore his ACL, ending his season. In those games, Bosa had 17 total tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

With the points race secured on Saturday, Sunday's American Flat Track Springfield Mile II SuperTwins race at the Illinois State Fairgrounds was simply riders racing to win.
For Davis Fisher, it was a chance to gain momentum for his 2027 campaign.
Fisher put his KTM 790 Duke motorcycle past Australia's Tom Drane by just 0.009 seconds to win the season finale, his first win since 2021.
"We had seven podiums this year, (but winning) feels great," Fisher, of Warren, Oregon, said. "Going into Springfield, the team worked as hard as they could. They knew what we had and said, 'It's up to you.'
"How we finished (Saturday, fourth place), it was kind of hard on me, but coming on top in the last race of the season, feels pretty good carrying it into next season."

Ferguson will take on former professional soccer player Kenzo Biyong in a five-round boxing match for Misfits Boxing at James L. Knight Center in Miami.
Ferguson, 42, is 2-0 under the Misfits banner with one pro win and one exhibition win. He hasn't competed in striking competition since December when he beat Warren Spencer by unanimous decision. Prior to that, he defeated Nathaniel Bustamante, also known as "Salt Papi," by third-round TKO stoppage.
Since those boxing bouts, Ferguson took a wrestling match for RAF, which he lost to Arman Tsarukyan by technical fall.
Biyong, 28, has dabbled in combat sports before, though this will be his first outing involving striking. In April, he competed at UFC BJJ 7 and was quickly submitted by Raphael Ferreira.

Now that the Houston Rockets have locked up Amen Thompson with a five-year, $208 million contract extension that runs through the 2031-32 season, they can rest easy knowing their young core is secure for several seasons.
Thompson, Alperen Şengün, Jabari Smith Jr., and Tari Eason all have agreed to contract extensions over the past two years that can keep them together through at least the next three years until Şengün reaches the player option in his contract that he can pick up for the 2029-30 season.
The Rockets' entire roster actually is pretty secure for the next two seasons. Of the players expected to be in the rotation, only Fred VanVleet and Bogdan Bogdanovic definitely will be a free agent next offseason. Jane Bullock, who coached professionals for the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, collapsed at her Wolverhampton home on 10 August 2025, after she finished teaching a class.
As a result, the once fit and healthy dancer lost half her sight and all the movement on the left side of her body, meaning she is often restricted to her bed.
Her husband Warren said her life had "completely changed" and it had been a difficult time for both of them.
"As time goes on, you start to have a realisation and accept some things, but other things she can't accept," he said.

Volleyball teams show improvement
Improvement looks to be the name of the game for local volleyball teams.
Seaside, Knappa and Jewell flashed moments of good play during their first official weeks on the court. The Seagulls, under new coach Nicole Aydt, look to be coming into their own. After rebuilding the program behind freshmen, the Seagulls won just one game over the last two seasons.
Now, with many of the players entering their third year in the program, the Lady Gulls' improvement looks to be real. The Seagulls had a solid showing at last Saturday's seven team tournament at Warrenton. Seaside and Warrenton played two great matches against each other including a three-set thriller in the semi-finals. After struggling last season to maintain points, the Seagulls defense, passing and serving was very solid. Junior libero Chloe Baker served great against Warrenton and her defense helped the Seagulls all day Saturday. Senior captain Autumn Fenton and juniors Araya Edwards, Sophia Saso and Tiera Spivey make up a solid group of building blocks for Seaside.

Fury suggested on Tuesday that confirmation of the hotly-anticipated showdown was close, posting a mocked-up image of himself facing off with Joshua above the words "New York City" on Instagram.
The expectation is that the bout will be hosted at the world-famous Madison Square Garden, as is the desire of Turki Alalshikh and Saudi state-owned promotional company Sela, though Joshua's camp prefer Wembley Stadium as the venue, which would allow for the element of a home crowd.
Warren, however, says that location is no longer a factor for Fury who has penned a contract that does not hinge on where the fight takes place, with the Queensberry chief insisting that "The Gypsy King" is now just waiting on Joshua's signature.

My eleven-year-old is still trying to learn the Dougie. Over a decade since it entered the cultural bloodstream, and it is still moving through generations like a living thing. I grew up on the Running Man, the Kid-n-Play kick step, the Wop. These were not just moves. They were rituals, practiced on living-room floors, performed at local parties. And yet, in most cases, I had no idea who originated them. I knew the artists who introduced them to the zeitgeist. Still, the actual creators, the people whose bodies birthed the movement, had essentially vanished from the record. That gap, between cultural impact and cultural credit, is precisely what Connor Lim is trying to close. So, we brought him onto the latest episode of the FROM THE CULTURE podcast to better understand how.
Lim is the co-founder and CEO of the International Dance League, the world's first global professional dance league. Six city-based teams, a regular season, a championship, and, as of this past summer, a global media rights deal with ESPN. IDL grew out of STEEZY, an online dance education platform he built after a childhood in Queens, completely consumed by the craft. For most people, dance is considered an art form, but Lim sees it as that and much more: a sport. Consider the battle traditions of breaking, krumping, and voguing, and Lim's perspective no longer feels like much of a stretch. In fact, breakdancing made its Olympic debut at the Paris 2024 Games as an official event, a testament to dance's competitive nature. It's this thesis that fuels Lim's ambition for the IDL to make dance as big of a sport as basketball, football, or baseball. However, unlike athletes, dancers have never sat inside a structure that captures the value they generate.

KKR has made its largest exit from its Strategic Holdings portfolio, representing a significant step towards the firm's ambition of creating a "mini Berkshire Hathaway."
The New York alternatives manager has agreed to sell USI Insurance Services, one of the largest insurance brokerage and consulting firms in the US, to Aon for around $17 billion, the firm announced on Monday.
KKR acquired the Valhalla, New York-based business in 2017 for $4.3 billion. It invested more money in 2020, 2023 and 2025, growing the company through over 90 strategic acquisitions. The exit from Aon represents a 6x return on KKR's original equity and a 3.4x return when accounting for those additional investments.
KKR co-CEO Joseph Bae drew the comparison between Strategic Holdings, which comprises stakes in 18 companies, and Warren Buffett's famous holding company in 2025, at the Bloomberg Invest conference in New York.

If there was any team that needed a win — really, really needed a win — it was the Colorado Rockies. Their odds of avoiding another 100-loss season were sagging by the day, and they were drowning after their 10th consecutive loss at Coors Field.
Making things worse were Monday night's near win that ended in heartbreak thanks to a Colton Cowser bottom-of-the-ninth home run robbery.
But the Rockies came to play on Tuesday and finished the evening having defeated the Orioles 4-2 and ended that home-field losing streak — their first win at Coors Field since August 2.
"I think it was a good win," manager Warren Schaeffer said after the game. "It's good to see the boys get rewarded with a W tonight."
Jake McCarthy picked up where he left off on Monday night with a lead0ff double (28). He got to third, when, with two outs, TJ Rumfield took his 65th walk, leaving runners at the corners. However, Cole Carrigg flew out to second to end the threat.
