What Christian Watson’s extension really says about Jordan Love and the Packers originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Green Bay Packers are locking up wide receiver Christian Watson for the long haul on a mega multi-year extension.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Watson is signing a four-year deal worth $110.5 million to remain in Green Bay. The contract also includes a $31 million signing bonus.
Watson was set to hit free agency next offseason, and though the young receiver has shown promise through four seasons, he has been unable to stay healthy and post consistent production when on the field.
2026 has been considered a make-or-break year for Watson, but the Packers have decided to sign him to a long-term extension before training camp kicks off, which tells us a lot about quarterback Jordan Love and Green Bay's offense.

PARIS (AP) — Adriano Panatta was expecting to award the French Open trophy to Jannik Sinner 50 years after his triumph in Paris.
Turns out he might still hand over the Coupe des Mousquetaires to a fellow Italian after the men’s singles final on Sunday after being invited by Roland Garros to take care of the honors on the anniversary of his 1976 triumph.
Despite Sinner’s stunning loss in the second round, Italy is **** ured to have a player in the championship match since Flavio Cobolli will face compatriot Matteo Arnaldi in the semifinals on Friday.
Cobolli comes from the same tennis club in Rome as Panatta did. Panatta’s father was the caretaker at the Tennis Club Parioli.
Several years ago, Cobolli and his father and coach, Stefano, paid Panatta a visit at the club in Treviso, northern Italy, that Panatta created after his playing career.

The Athletics battled the Chicago Cubs in the second game of this three-game midweek series. The road-warrior A’s took an early lead and then gave it up. Up 4-2 for most of the night, it looked like the Cubs would hold on to even up the series. Yet, the A’s came back in the eighth to tie and wound up winning 5-4 in ten innings.
Athletics’ right fielder Carlos Cortes led off with an infield single and first baseman Nick Kurtz walked against Cubs’ starting pitcher Collin Rea. On consecutive ground ****** by catcher Shea Langeliers and left fielder Tyler Soderstrom, the Cubs attempted to turn double plays, but both runners beat the relay throws to first. Cortes scored on Soderstrom’s groundout, giving the A’s a 1–0 lead.
Jeffrey Springs kept momentum on the A’s side with a scoreless bottom of the first inning. The A’s added another run in the second. With one out, third baseman Zack Gelof doubled, extending his hitting streak to eight games. He scored on shortstop Alika Williams’ two-out RBI single.
The Cubs immediately got one back. After making a nice catch in the top of the inning, right-fielder Seiya Suzuki led off the bottom of the second with his eighth home run of the season, a solo blast to the left field bleachers. That was Springs’ 13th home run allowed this season. He wiggled out of trouble following Dansby Swanson’s one-out double, keeping his team’s lead intact.
Chicago took the lead the next inning on center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong’s two-run home run to right-center field, his eighth of the season. The blast came after Soderstrom’s defensive misread on a line drive that turned into a double for Cubs second baseman Nico ****** ner.

The German national team recently played against Finland and beat them 4-0 in Mainz…and beat them 1-0 in a test match intended to keep the bench players match fit. Lennart Karl is one of the players who played in the actual match and helped himself to an **** ist when he teed up Deniz Undav for Germany’s third goal. That **** ist meant he set a new record/milestone:
18Y 98D – At 18 years and 98 days old, Lennart Karl became the youngest player since records began in 2005 to directly contribute to a goal for the German national team with his **** ist on the 3-0 goal yesterday. Recommended.
Germany got themselves a more than capable replacement for Serge Gnabry who would’ve undoubtedly made the team had he not picked up a lengthy injury. For Karl, this is a massive tournament for him to make his bow and with him in the team, Die Mannschaft has a good chance of making serious progress in the tournament.

Your daily dose of Everton news and rumours
“I’ve been incredibly lucky to find my way back to this football club as a player. I’m incredibly lucky and really happy that I was able to give my best playing years to this football club. And again, the privilege now is mine that people looked after me and kept me in the building when I finished playing. And I take that responsibility seriously and I’ve applied myself the best I can. Learning the craft of coaching and supporting what was young players at the time, and now the group of players who I’m lucky enough to work with now,” says newest Everton Giant Leighton Baines. [EFC]
Our season review series starts with a look back at the goalkeepers. [RBM]
Iliman Ndiaye rumours continue to swirl.
Apparently Ndiaye has rejected multiple new deals offered to him by the club over the course of the season, with three years still left on his contract with the club expecting an Anthony Gordonesque €70 million for him should anyone come knocking. [The Athletic]

Dylan Harper was already considered a talented player coming out of college, but when he was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs, he quickly drew comparisons to the franchise’s legendary left-handed guard, Manu Ginobili.
Harper was selected No. 2 overall and is regarded as one of the top players in his draft class. He went second overall behind phenom Cooper Flagg, who was selected by the Dallas Mavericks. He may be a rookie, but expectations for him are already high. The Spurs are banking on him to help form their new Big Three.
The other two members are Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle, who arrived in San Antonio during the summers of 2023 and 2024, respectively.
The Spurs are getting a high ROI so far in their rookie with his reliable players and defense during their Western Conference Finals win over the defending champions Oklahoma City Thunder. Harper has become a fan favorite to the point that they are comparing him to one of the franchise’s legend – Manu Ginobili.
Harper is aware of the comparison.

Should Patroits Sign Stefon Diggs, Go All-In On Next Season? originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New England Patriots made a major move to acquire A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday.
The Patriots gave up a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. It is a major investment in a position they already invested in during free agency. The Patriots signed Romeo Doubs to a four-year, $68 million deal, worth up to $80 million, in free agency. Last season, the receiving corps did not have much going on behind Stefon Diggs.
Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins were solid players, but Brown and Doubs look to be an upgrade over what the Patriots had last season. Diggs was a 1,000-yard receiver last year, and he remains unsigned. Acquiring Brown is an all-in move, so should the Patriots also bring back Diggs to create an elite trio of wide receivers?
Well, the answer is more complicated than a simple yes or no. Right now, the Patriots' number three wide receiver is likely going to be Kayshon Boutte. However, there are rumors that he could be traded. He is in the final year of his deal and may want to play in an offense where he has a bigger role. He has been working out away from the team this offseason.

Wide receiver A.J. Brown's final season with the Eagles featured a lot of talk about his dissatisfaction with the team's offense and the nature of his relationship with quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Brown weighed in on the latter topic during an interview with Maria Taylor after Monday's long-awaited trade to the Patriots. Brown said he doesn't understand why there was so much attention paid to his relationship with Hurts, but acknowledged that the two men are "not as close as we once were" by the end of their final season together.
The receiver insisted "that didn't stop anything" the team was trying to do on the field and said there was no particular incident that led to the change.
"Nothing happened, people just grow apart," Brown said. "Nothing happened between me and him, or our families, wives, anything. Nothing like that ever happened. Life happens and you just look up sometimes and you just you find yourself drifting away and that's fine. And I think both parties accepted that."
Brown said he wants Hurts to do well and "accomplish everything his heart desires," but he'll no longer have a hand in helping Hurts or the Eagles reach any of their goals.

It is easy to see why Cleveland Browns fans are among the most emotionally distraught in the NFL.
Myles Garrett, future NFL Hall of Famer, is the latest first round pick to leave town and head for Los Angeles. It brings up unresolved feelings from LeBron James leaving and to a lesser extent Odell Beckham Jr.
The other unresolved issue Garrett’s departure presents is what happens to the work he has done in the city including his minority ownership of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Joakim Gouda had plans to make his decision on July 1. The elite four-star linebacker from Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern left his official visit to Georgia with a different timeline in mind.
After spending the weekend in Athens, the No. 31 prospect in the Rivals300 shut down his recruitment and committed to the Bulldogs, giving Kirby Smart another major in-state win.
“Really what made me accelerate and be 100 percent committed to Georgia is what I’ve seen during the weekend,” Gouda told Rivals. “What they have shown me is that they’re elite in everything they do.”
Georgia checked every box.
“It’s close to home, great academics, great life after football, great exposure, great development, good NIL,” he said. “It’s like I know what I want, and Georgia has what I want. So it’s like, why do I need to go on the other visits?”

Both RB Leipzig and Brajan Gruda are keen to keep working together following the end of the 22-year-old's loan spell from Brighton & Hove Albion.
“We have received clear signals from Brajan that he wants to stay with us,” RB Leipzig managing director for sport Marcel Schäfer told Bild.
“We also want that and value him highly. Now we're waiting for a signal from Brighton & Hove.”
The biggest obstacle is the transfer fee Brighton would demand for Gruda, with a deal worth “well above €20 million” beyond Leipzig's reach this summer.
“It's clear that we have strict financial limits,” Schäfer stressed.
