Kristaps Porzingis is sticking around Golden State after all.
The Warriors reached a two-year, $40 million extension with Porzingis on Monday night, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. That stopped him from hitting free agency this offseason, and will now keep him with the Warriors through the 2027-28 campaign.
Porzingis was only dealt to Golden State a few months ago. He landed with the Warriors as part of the deal that sent Jonathan **** inga to the Atlanta Hawks. **** inga, who had a rough ending with the Warriors himself, has since become a free agent after the Hawks declined to pick up his option ahead of the deadline on Monday.
Porzingis averaged 16.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest in 15 games with the Warriors last season, his 10th in the league. He had signed a two-year, $60 million deal with the Boston Celtics that expired after last season, and he was set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Porzingis, who the New York Knicks selected with the No. 4 overall pick back in 2015, has bounced around a lot in recent years. After signing that extension with the Celtics, and helping lead the team to a **** le in 2024, Porzingis was sent to the Hawks in a three-team deal. The Warriors then became the sixth team he’s played for throughout his decade-long career, and third in just the past two seasons.

Lakers predicted to sign $48 million All-Defensive center, NBA champion originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Los Angeles Lakers will be a team that many will focus on during NBA free agency this week.
Obviously, the future of LeBron James will be the primary headline. James and the Lakers have basically had no discussions on a contract extension, and all signs point to the future Hall of Famer declining his player option and entering free agency.
Additionally, the Golden State Warriorsare preparing to pursue James and former Laker Anthony Davis, who is with the Washington Wizards but could be available for trade. These talks began on Monday after Draymond Green declined his $27 million player option, creating the flexibility for Golden State to make these moves, though Green will likely return to the Bay Area on a smaller deal as well.
As the days go on, it looks more possible that James will actually depart Los Angeles, which would open up room for the Lakers to bolster the roster at other positions.

It's the offseason in the NBA, and there have already been a number of moves by teams looking to improve through trades for star players. Two former Kentucky Wildcats players have already been dealt to new teams, and Anthony Davis might join that list soon.
There has been talk of Davis moving this summer for months now, but recently rumors have swirled that the Golden State Warriors have an interest and are looking to make a move. ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Warriors are going to pursue Lebron James in free agency, and attempt to add Davis as well via a trade with the Washington Wizards.
Davis will enter his 15th NBA season this year. He is a 10x All-Star, 5x All-Defensive team, and 5x All-NBA player who won a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. That came playing with James, who could reunite with him with the Warriors.
The Lakers traded Davis to the Dallas Mavericks last year, who then traded him to Washington earlier this year. Injuries have been an issue for him in recent years, but when healthy, he can be a difference-maker. We'll update this story as it develops.

How Warriors have changed Lakers' plans with LeBron James in free agency originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Los Angeles Lakers may still be interested in reuniting with LeBron James in free agency.
The Golden State Warriors are trying to change those plans with a bold strategy to bring aboard both LeBron and Anthony Davis to play with Stephen Curry.
Nothing has been decided yet, but it does sound like the Warriors have accelerated the Lakers' concern on the matter.

For much of the offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers were considered the favorites to keep LeBron. However, recent reports and shifting market sentiment suggest the Warriors are becoming an increasingly realistic destination if James decides to leave Los Angeles.
According to Polymarket, Golden State’s chances of signing LeBron have climbed significantly as rumors surrounding his future continue to intensify. The movement comes amid reports that the Warriors believe they would be among the top destinations if James parts ways with the Lakers.
NBA fans have dreamed about a LeBron-Curry partnership for years. The two icons spent four consecutive NBA Finals battling one another before joining forces to win Olympic gold with Team USA, proving just how dangerous they can be when they’re on the same side.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has declined his $27.7 million player option in order to ****** ist the organization in freeing up salary-cap flexibility for a possible pursuit of free agent LeBron James.
The plan isn't just to acquire James, but to also make a play for Washington Wizards big man Anthony Davis, reuniting the former teammates who won a championship together with the Los Angleles Lakers in 2020.
From a financial perspective, it's a sound move, even if things will get tight.

Draymond Green declined his $27.7 million player option for the 2026-27 season with the Golden State Warriors, but it might just be the first step of their grand plan.
Green enters free agency and might agree on a cheaper annual contract for more years of security.
Or, he might be helping the Warriors open up cap ***** e to put their pursuit of LeBron James and Anthony Davis in overdrive.
Shams Charania has reported that Green’s decision to decline the contract option is directly tied to Golden State’s attempts at putting together a big four this summer.
“This move gives the Warriors flexibility to pursue LeBron James in free agency and Anthony Davis via trade to form a Big 4.”

There’s no debate that the number one NBA free agent this summer is none other than LeBron James. James is coming off an eight-year tenure with Los Angeles, the longest he has spent with any team in his career, where he saw plenty of success. During his time with the Lakers, LeBron won an NBA Championship and an NBA Cup while earning multiple All-Star and All-NBA selections. At 41 years old, LeBron is likely heading into the final season of his career. Two teams stand out as the top contenders for his services: his former team, the Miami Heat, and the Golden State Warriors.
RELATED: LeBron James reportedly has a familiar suitor this offseason
The Heat were recently involved in a blockbuster deal that brought in superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. In the process, they gave up future picks, Tyler Herro, and much of their guard depth, leaving Miami without a true playmaker.
Initially, the Heat looked like they lost the trade, with Bam Adebayo and Giannis as the only clear standout players. As Lebron has aged, his playmaking has become arguably his greatest strength, and he could completely change the outlook of this team. A return to Miami would instantly put the Heat among the NBA’s best teams.
The idea of Lebron heading to Golden State has been discussed for years, pairing him with Stephen Curry in one final push for a championship.

Draymond Green is reportedly declining his $27.7 million option with the Golden State Warriors, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
The move allows Green to enter the free-agent market, but it also affords the Warriors to do a longer-term deal with Green at a lesser annual value, giving them the flexibility to pursue LeBron James in free agency and Washington Wizards center Anthony Davis via trade to potentially create a new veteran-heavy, star-filled lineup around Stephon Curry and Green, ESPN reported.
This story will be updated.

Draymond Green makes $27.7 million decision to help Warriors' LeBron James, Anthony Davis pursuit originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Golden State Warriors know that their championship window is starting rapidly close. With the aging of Stephen Curry becoming an inevitable reality, the front office needs to make moves so that they can build a competitive roster around him. This is where fans in the Bay Area should start thanking both Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Draymond Green. It's all because both of them are making the reality of LeBron James and Anthony Davis joining the best shooter of all-time a massive possibility.
Draymond Green has officially declined his $27.7 million player option, per Shams Charania of ESPN. This means that he will now become a free agent and completely sign a new but cheaper deal to stay with Stephen Curry and the Warriors. But, that's not the only good news.

The Golden State Warriors reportedly have big goals for this NBA offseason and they include LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor, the Warriors are eyeing the former Los Angeles Lakers teammates this offseason.
“The Warriors are attempting to trade for Wizards big Anthony Davis and then sign Lakers free-agent forward LeBron James, according to multiple league sources,” O’Connor wrote.
O’Connor notes that in order for the Warriors to acquire Davis from the Washington Wizards, they would have to send Jimmy Butler’s $57 million contract back, along with draft capital.
Golden State sports a pair of future first-round selections and can pull off four first-round swaps to help get the deal done.

LeBron James has been tied to the Golden State Warriors in different free agency and trade rumors dating back to last season. Now, one of James's longtime All-Star teammates is reportedly receiving interest from the Warriors.
Before the NBA free agency cycle is set to begin on Tuesday, Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo Sports has reported Golden State's ambitious plan to pursue a pair of former championship teammates. According to O'Connor, the Warriors are attempting to trade for Washington Wizards big man Anthony Davis and then sign James in free agency if he leaves Los Angeles this summer.

While the idea of pairing Davis alongside James, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green is intriguing, it would come at a cost. A trade from Washington to Golden State would have to include Jimmy Butler, per O'Connor. The Warriors would need to use Butler's $57 million expiring contract and include some of their draft capital to bring the former Defensive Player of the Year to the Bay Area.

The Golden State Warriors have put together their teams through a variety of ways over the years, yet few approaches have proven as successful as the NBA draft. More than anything else, the most talented players to represent the Warriors have arrived in Golden State either by being selected directly in the annual draft or through trades executed on that same night.
The Golden State Warriors have taken many of their top stars through the draft, but have also landed a number of notable players over the years as well. From tiny colleges to blue blood programs, these alumni have contributed significantly to the team's roster over the years. So, we chose to take a closer look at which Dubs came from which schools over the years.
So without further ado, let's take a look at every player who has been drafted by the Warriors out of Michigan State.

South Korea’s Kim Min-jae became the only player that Bayern Munich sent to the World Cup to fail to make it to the knockout stage.
Bayern sent a total of 18 players to the tournament, with one of them, Jonas Urbig, being a training goalkeeper for Germany. It was initially 19 before Lennart Karl withdrew from the Germany squad with an injury. Although their time at Bayern has come to an end, Nicolas Jackson and Leon Goretzka are included in said number.
The representative countries are as follows – Germany, Austria, France, ***** an, South Korea, Croatia, England, Colombia, Canada, and Senegal. Among them, Germany, France, England, and Colombia won their groups. Austria, ***** an, Croatia, and Canada finished runners up, and Senegal made it through as one of the eight best third-placed teams.
However, Korea failed to take advantage of the easiest group they had ever received at a World Cup. They started out strongly by beating the Czech Republic, but a drab defeat to co-hosts Mexico and a shocking loss to South Africa saw them praying for results elsewhere to help them into the knockouts. Their hopes were in vain, as only one out of their three required scenarios came to fruition, and the Taegeuk Warriors ended up meekly packing their bags.
Kim himself played every one of Korea’s group games, but he, as well as most of the players, was not at fault for the downfall. Rather, the many faults of coach Hong Myung-bo and the — allegedly — deep rooted corruption of the Korea Football ***** ociation (KFA) made the disappointing results inevitable. The national team had lost the trust of the fans ever since Hong was appointed in questionable manner, and it got to the point where many fans were actively rooting for Korea to get embarrassed so that radical change could be forced into the KFA. Whether said change takes place, and if so, when it does, remains to be seen. At the time of writing, Hong has just resigned as national coach.

Following South Korea's elimination from the 2026 World Cup after losing to South Africa, 1-0, on Wednesday, Taegeuk Warriors head coach Hong Myung-bo announced he is stepping down from his position.
The resignation comes amid South Korea president Lee Jae Myung calling for the government’s sports ministry to investigate the team’s World Cup results and the process by which Hong was hired.
“As a former honorary professional soccer club manager and a heartfelt Red Devil, I feel not just confusion but utter bewilderment at this unexpected outcome,” Lee said in a statement posted to social media.
In the end, it's proven once again that personnel is everything,” he added. “When favoritism and cronyism take precedence over competence in selecting a commander, the result is as predictable as fire burning paper.”
South Korea won its first two matches in Group A — 1-0 over El Salvador and 2-1 versus Czechia — but lost its next two games, 1-0 to Mexico and 1-0 to South Africa. The Taegeuk Warriors earned only three points in group play and their failure to advance to the knockout round was confirmed after Saturday’s results.

Still, Ezeli is widely regarded as a fan favorite of Golden State for his role in the 2015 NBA Finals.
Ezeli will now experience a NASCAR weekend in Sonoma as a pace car driver. It will be great to see Ezeli at the race track, as the fans will love his presence in Sonoma. This continues NASCAR's great success of finding celebrities to drive the pace car in the Cup Series.

It’s been a busy week for the Michigan Wolverines basketball program. Michigan’s former head coach grabbed one former Wolverines but let two others join Western Conference rivals.
The whirlwind began on Tuesday when it was announced that the reigning national champions will be losing their head coach to the NBA, when May was hired to become the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks.
Next, the Wolverines saw three leaders on their NCAA ****** le team get taken in the lottery of the NBA Draft, including one, Morez Johnson Jr. going to the Mavericks. Michigan also saw the Golden State Warriors grab Yaxel Lendeborg with the No. 11 pick and former UCLA Bruin Aday Mara come off the board a pick later to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Clearly Dallas loved Johnson to select him ahead of Lendeborg and Mara, but was that the right call for the Mavericks, who are building around the reigning Rookie of the Year Cooper Flagg.
College Sports Wire writer Matt Zemek explained why the Mavericks letting the 7'3" Mara fall to the Thunder might end up costing Dallas in the long run.

After leading Michigan to its second **** le, Yaxel Lendeborg is eager to get to work with the Golden State Warriors as the 11th overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft.
Lendeborg was a consensus first-team All-American last season, averaging 15.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.2 **** ists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals while shooting 37.2% from 3-point range. He was also the Big Ten Player of the Year and a first-team all-conference selection.
The 6-foot-9 forward is set to join a veteran team, headlined by Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler, among others. He is striving to help the group win at any cost by impacting games on both ends of the court, particularly on defense.
"I want to just try to develop something that I can be known for, like an identity for myself," Lendeborg said on Friday. "I want to try to go in there and be able one of the primary defenders, see if I can gain some trust for them to put me on the best player on the other team or anything like that. Just being able to do all the little things on the court to help out."
Lendeborg was highly touted entering the draft this year for his scoring, rebounding and ability to defend multiple positions. The team was also captivated by his championship pedigree, along with his unselfishness, versatility and vast skill set.

Sports Radio Host Discusses Reasons Why LeBron James Should Sign With Celtics This Summer originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The summer of LeBron James is heating up as he will be an unrestricted free agent at the start of July. Even though LeBron is 41, there are still plenty of teams that probably want his services.
Even though LeBron has spent the last eight seasons with the Lakers, sports radio host Craig Carton wants to see LeBron play for Los Angeles' biggest rival, the Boston Celtics.
"LeBron James should join the Boston Celtics," Carton said on Wednesday. "Because if the Celtics have Jaylen Brown still there, which he is right now. Brown, Jayson Tatum and Payton Pritchard who has been one of the best guys off the bench in the league. And you add LeBron to that mix. They need a big man they can count on to get through Karl-Anthony Towns, and even if they went to the Finals against either Victor Wembanyama or the two-headed monster we have in Oklahoma City. LeBron could win a championship if he joins the Celtics."
It would be a cool dream to see LeBron play for the Celtics, but that probably won't happen. If LeBron leaves the Lakers, he will likely head back home to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he spent 11 seasons of his career, or head up the coast in California and join the Golden State Warriors to play with Steph Curry.
