Ed Orgeron has never been the kind of coach who disappears quietly. These days, the former LSU national championship coach is spending part of his offseason doing something few expected. But did you ever imagine him reading out fantasy football draft orders for fans on Cameo? Well…
"What's up guys, it's Coach O. Soon-to-be football season. I know we can't wait," Ed Orgeron opened his video with his familiar gravelly growl.
Another clip has him rattling off league names with the same intensity he once had for SEC Saturdays: "Check out these leagues. Jambalaya, Hush Puppies, Po' Boys, Gumbo."
In another clip, Orgeron jokingly predicts, "The old lady, Queen Kelsey, will beat you in fantasy football this year."
These days, Coach O isn't barking into a headset in front of 100,000 people. He's talking straight into a phone camera instead. Birthdays. Fantasy football leagues. Random shoutouts. Fans pay for the videos on Cameo, and lately those fantasy draft-order clips have been making the rounds again. Turns out that gravelly voice still grabs attention.

One name in fantasy football that isn't being talked about much is Carolina Panthers WR Jalen ****** er. That's mainly because of the team surrounding ****** er, but might Carolina be an offense on the rise? The Panthers have a decent young group headlined by QB Bryce Young and WR Tetairoa McMillan. As ****** er enters Year 3 in the NFL, it may be time for a breakout campaign.
Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
Here to discuss ****** er's outlook for the 2026 season are new Yahoo ****** ysts Josh Norris and Hayden Winks, celebrating their inaugural show for Yahoo Fantasy. The pair were joined by Yahoo Fantasy Forecast host Matt Harmon to get things started. You can look forward to more content all season long from Josh and Hayden, from the lead up to your draft through the regular season and offseason. Check out their YouTube channel here.
Harmon thinks ****** er is a great receiver and it's just taken him a bit longer to adjust to the NFL game coming from Holy Cross at the collegiate level. Harmon compares ****** er's body type to that of Chris Godwin Jr. or Jakobi Meyers. Two receivers we've seen have fantasy football success in the past five years.
Coker has only made it to 11 games in each of his two NFL seasons. Health has been an issue but he's made strides to get his body right. Last season, ****** er had 33 catches for 394 yards and three scores. While the regular season was uninspiring from a fantasy standpoint, the ****** ysts point out the playoff game vs. the Rams. ****** er had a 9-134-1 line on 12 targets against Los Angeles in the Panthers' near upset win.

Fabio Paratici has wasted no time stamping his mark on this Fiorentina squad. He's brought in 5 new players already and more are coming. That's good news: the Viola needed to refresh a stale, ailing group. What I'm interested in, though, is the senior players the new sporting director has sold. No, I don't mean outcasts like Lucas Beltrán and Amir Richardson and Alessandro Bianco. I don't mean unfortunate salary casualty Robin Gosens. No, I mean all the academy-trained talent in the system.
Until the Viola create a B-team, it will lose a crop of academy kids every summer. Most of them never had a chance of breaking through to the first team. For the handful who might have the quality, finding an acceptable path within the club is difficult. The most common outcome is what happened to, say, Eduard Duțu last year: a promising young defender, he ended up on 7 loan deals before leaving Florence for good last year without ever making a senior appearance. Guys like Luca Ranieri—loans to Foggia, Ascoli, SPAL, and Salernitana before breaking through—are the exception. It's rare for to see one of these youngsters take that final step.
Young players matter to fans in a way they don't to the club itself. For fans, every 17-year-old who dribbles a 3rd-tier defender in preseason becomes a future star. That's not just luxurious thinking. We need that fantasy—the academy contains untold riches—because it reinforces two narratives that sustain us, especially through the lean years. First, we get to believe that we know ball and can identify buried talent because that allows us to think of ourselves as knowledgeable, superior, and in control of something over which we actually exert no control. Second, we get to think that Fiorentina is doing something better than other clubs, allowing us to enjoy vicarious success and prove to ourselves that there's a reason to support an organization that constantly falls short.
The other bit is that fans connect with kids they've watched grow up more than they do with senior players brought in on the open market. There are Borja Valero exceptions, of course, but in a vacuum, we'd all prefer an academy product more than a player of equal talent who transferred in. It demonstrates that the club's process is successful. It also provides a connection to the city: every time you see a kid like Tommaso Martinelli post a picture of himself as a child in the Curva Fiesole, it reinforces the depth of feeling the locals have for the club in a way that nothing else can.
Fiorentina has enjoyed unprecedented success at youth level in the Commisso era. Daniele Galloppa led the kids to their first scudetto in 43 years, adding that trophy to 4 Coppe Italia and 2 Supercoppe since the 2019-2020 season. There's been a rich seam of talent at the RBCVPetc, churning out senior internationals (Federico Chiesa, Jan Mlakar, Michael Kayode), promising youngsters (Daniele Ghilardi, Edoardo Pierozzi, Costantino Favasuli) and steady veterans dotting t

This might sound odd coming from someone who just released his Fantasy Strength of Schedule Matrix, but you need to be careful to not overweigh those types of season-long metrics.
As I mentioned in that article, the full-season strength of schedule is good to use as a tiebreaker between players you're targeting in drafts — just don't get overconfident and let it dictate your outlooks for later in the year. That's because injuries and changes in performance on both sides of the ball can have a significant impact in the latter stages of a campaign.
Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
The best way to gain an advantage using strength of schedule is by focusing on the first few weeks and drafting players set for hot starts or avoiding those likely to struggle through a tough streak of opponents. Players with difficult schedules in the early going are prime trade targets when managers begin to question their value in the opening month.
So let's take a look at each position and identify who has the hardest early-season slates.

It was a rollercoaster of a day for Atlanta Braves fans and Ronald Acuna Jr fantasy owners yesterday. First, news dropped that Acuna's return was imminent and he'd be back with the Braves at some point between tonight and Sunday. However, we all got a scare last night when, in perhaps his final rehab game with the Gwinnett Stripers, Acuna struck out and limped back to the dugout.
While the video was posted with essentially no explanation, it naturally led to rampant speculation. However, there were some key takeaways that social media appeared to ignore in favor of untethered panic as social media does. He is currently rehabbing a left hamstring injury, which had sidelined him; however, this was clearly a right leg injury and looked like an ankle injury. So, it was clear this was not a reinjury for anyone who put any thought into it.
This morning we got an update from Braves beat writer Mark Bowman that Acuna is fine and this should have no impact on a potential return. That's incredible news for Acuna owners. We should expect him back at the top of the Braves lineup as early as tonight and no later than Sunday. His activation off the IL now looks to be imminent.
Acuna was irreplaceable in fantasy lineups and is among the best in the game when he's clicking on all cylinders. He has a rare combination of power and speed, matched by very few players ever, let alone in the league today.
However, it may be a good idea to temper expectations when it comes to base stealing out of the gates as he comes off a second hamstring injury. We have seen him be hesitant before coming off injuries, and that could be the case again here. Nevertheless, we would expect him to be at full speed well before your fantasy baseball playoffs. It shouldn't take him more than a few weeks to get his full confidence back.

DETROIT, MICHIGAN - MAY 22: Gleyber Torres #25 of the Detroit Tigers plays against the Cleveland Guardians at Comerica Park on May 22, 2025 in Detroit, Michigan. (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)
The MLB trade deadline is less than two weeks away. As teams look to fortify their rosters for the stretch run, fantasy managers can help their squads by scouring the waiver wire for reinforcements. Let’s highlight five players to consider adding who are still available in the majority of Yahoo leagues.
Torres has been limited to 46 games this season because of injury. He recently missed over a month with an oblique ailment. Across three games since making his return, he is 3-for-11 with two walks and a run scored. He continues to show a good eye at the plate, recording a 15.3% walk rate and a 19.2% strikeout rate for the season. That has enabled him to record a .351 wOBA. The Tigers will play six games next, including three at the Athletics’ hitter-friendly park. Don’t hesitate to add Torres if you need help at second base.
Sasaki is coming off a good start against the Yankees in which he gave up one unearned run over 5 2/3 innings. The most encouraging stat from that outing was that he didn’t give up a home run for the first time since the middle of May. In Week 19, he is lined up to make a start at home against the Mariners. He has been good there, recording a 3.69 xFIP, 1.29 WHIP and 26.4% strikeout rate in Los Angeles. Consider him one of the better streaming options to target.
Ewing is swinging a hot bat, hitting 17-for-53 (.321) with two home runs and four doubles across his last 12 games. He even stole three bases during that span, giving him a total of 11 steals over 63 games. After showing an adept skill of getting on base throughout his time in the minors, he is batting .274 with a .345 OBP with the Mets. New York is slated to play seven games next week, so Ewing will have plenty of opportunities to provide fantasy value.

It's coming down to the stretch run of the fantasy baseball season, and this is the time of year where fantasy owners try to figure out where they could find the value to push them to the top. There are always plenty of up-and-coming prospects and other players getting opportunities available on the waiver wire. Here are five players who could be available.
Bradley is an ideal pickup for fantasy managers needing strikeouts. A high-upside option, he boasts a pitch mix that consistently overwhelms hitters and keeps them off balance. He has evolved from a volatile prospect into a dependable, strikeout-heavy fantasy starter. His four-seam fastball, combined with a splitter and cutter, gives him tremendous winning upside, highlighted by double-digit K performance in two of his last five starts. Bradley features a 27.2% strikeout rate and solid team win support rarely remain on the wire. While he carries occasional control issues, his swing-and-miss ceiling makes him well worth the add.
Managers often drop talented young players too quickly when immediate production lags, but Crews' toolset is translating rapidly to the Major League level. Far from a finished product, he offers five-category upside with speed that provides a reliable fantasy floor. With seven home runs already on the season, he has shown that his power will continue to mature.
Following a minor league stint earlier this year to tweak his mechanics, Crews returned to Washington's outfield with a refined approach. Now locked into everyday reps, he delivers steady volume and key category support. If you can absorb a minor hit to batting average in exchange for elite power/speed upside, Crews is a strong stash or high-end third outfielder option.
Caglianone brings massive power upside with a strong path toward everyday playing time. While fantasy owners might hesitate over strikeout concerns, his elite raw power yields legitimate 30+ HR potential. Even if his batting average takes a hit, his underlying metrics demonstrate elite output: a 55% hard-hit rate, a 93 mph average exit velocity, and a 15% barrel rate, which places him in the 90th percentile across all three categories. Absorbing his swing-and-miss rate (28% K rate) is a worthwhile trade-off for this degree of power. If available, grab him immediately for home run value.

All eyes are on Lane Kiffin going into his first season as LSU head football coach. However, while speaking to reporters at SEC Media Days, he revealed that monitoring his social media accounts won’t yield anything spicy anymore.
Kiffin said that he deleted all social media apps from his phone, initially doing so as a challenge from his son Knox. But like many who have distance themselves from social media, Kiffin realized that he liked being more offline.
“Really, it just started with Knox, my son, was sitting there and he’s like, ‘You’re on social media; I bet you couldn’t get off,’” Kiffin explained, via Baton Rouge radio host Matt Moscona. “If you follow me, if you tell me I can’t do something, that’s really a good way to get me to do it.”
“So I just got off of everything,” he continued. “Got off of it. Don’t even have the apps, so it’s not even like I read it either… I just wanted to show him I could do it. It’s been really interesting as I look back over my life and my journey, a lot of great things have come when I’ve subtracted things out of my life and I’ve eliminated them.”

The Kansas City Royals find themselves on the outside looking into the American League playoff race, facing a myriad of concerns amid a lackluster 43-60 campaign, despite the efforts of Bobby Witt Jr. The superstar shortstop has emerged as one of the top players in MLB over recent years, with production that has translated to the fantasy baseball diamond.
The third-time All-Star has finished inside the top four among AL MVP candidates in each of the last two seasons, and has been on track to maintain such a trend this season. Through 94 games, he's slashing .279/.350/.450 from the plate, with 103 hits, 51 runs, 13 homers and 39 RBIs, leading the AL in both WAR (4.9) and stolen bases (39).
Throughout his five-year career in the big leagues, he's been one of baseball's most consistent players, suiting up in at least 150 games in each of the last four seasons. Now in year five, Witt is slated to hit the Injured List for the first time in his career, hampering his fantasy output over the short term.
Witt has dealt with back tightness and was ultimately deemed unable to maintain his level of play, forcing the team to rest him on the 10-day IL. He'll work to return to the diamond sooner than later, but his absence will certainly have an immense impact on fantasy baseball over the next few weeks.
He's cemented his case as one of fantasy's most sought after ****** ets, but with his absence, fantasy baseball players will be forced to fill the void of his production. Players could look for outside options in the trade market to supplement this output, but his absence will be felt regardless of the replacement player.

One of the favorite offseason pieces of content is ranking the top players at every position and letting the discussion commence. Or arguments, or however folks like to get their points across.
Here's a take for you to ponder: Amon-Ra St. Brown as the fifth-best wide receiver in the NFL. That's where the Sun God landed in the wide receiver rankings over at Pro Football Focus, from Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick.
St. Brown has been as steady as they come over the past four seasons with the Lions. His 93.6 PFF receiving grade since 2022 ranks second in the NFL behind only Puka Nacua. No receiver has been better at moving the chains, as St. Brown's 285 combined receiving first downs and touchdowns over that span are 16 more than any other wide receiver. The former fourth-round pick's 33 receiving touchdowns over the past three seasons also lead the NFL.
Steady as they come. Excellent way to describe St. Brown. Since his breakout rookie season, St. Brown has been the straw that stirs the drink in the Lions' passing attack. Four straight 100-catch and 1,000-yard seasons, plus three straight seasons with double-digit touchdowns. He may not be the top guy for a lot of **** ysts, but he's not far off and is one of the very safe bets, especially if you are looking at him for your upcoming fantasy football drafts.
The only receivers ranked ahead of St. Brown on this list are Puka Nacua (Los Angeles Rams), Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Seattle Seahawks), Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings) and Ja'Marr Chase (Cincinnati Bengals).

Red carpet fashion is always a showcase of personal style, where bold risks can become unforgettable triumphs or occasional missteps. Recent premieres for The Invite and the live-action Moana offered plenty of standout looks, with celebrities embracing everything from elegant couture to contemporary tailoring. Together, these appearances highlighted how fashion continues to play a central role in promoting major film releases while allowing stars to express their individuality.
At the premiere of The Invite, Penélope Cruz brought timeless elegance to the red carpet in a custom pale blue Chanel gown. The soft color and refined silhouette created a fresh, sophisticated appearance that perfectly suited the occasion. Rashida Jones demonstrated that sharp tailoring can be just as glamorous as an evening dress, wearing a black double-breasted Chloé suit accented by a sailor-inspired lace collar. Meanwhile, Olivia Wilde embraced dramatic styling in a striking black Saint Laurent gown featuring a cropped twisted bodice, oversized sleeves, and vibrant emerald earrings that added a welcome burst of color.
The global press tour for the live-action Moana showcased an equally impressive range of fashion. In Shanghai, Dwayne Johnson made a confident statement in a white Dzojchen suit with a modern wrap jacket, completing the look with white-rimmed glasses and traditional Polynesian garlands that celebrated the film's cultural roots. Co-star Catherine Laga'aia embraced playful elegance during the daytime events in a lavender crop top and flowing skirt before changing into a dreamy Teresa Helbig couture gown for the evening premiere. Inspired by the beauty of water, the design featured delicate botanical details and a soft, flowing silhouette that echoed the spirit of Disney's Moana.
As the promotional tour continued to London, Johnson stayed true to his signature style with another crisp white ensemble, pairing an open-collar shirt with matching trousers and a floral garland. Laga'aia complemented the event with a coordinated LoveShackFancy outfit featuring floral embroidery and a tiered maxi skirt that captured a cheerful, youthful energy. Their consistent styling throughout the tour reinforced the vibrant and adventurous atmosphere surrounding the film.
Another memorable appearance came from Millie Bobby Brown, who wore a romantic custom Galia Lahav gown inspired by a costume featured in the movie. The flowing icy-blue dress included a pleated bodice, delicate bow detail, and elegant skirt, while understated accessories and soft styling allowed the design to remain the centerpiece. Standing beside her husband, Jake Bongiovi, Brown completed a polished and graceful look that perfectly reflected the fantasy-inspired charm of the film, proving once again that thoughtful fashion can become an extension of storytelling itself.

The MLB trade deadline is now under two weeks away. While everybody is focused on the big names who could be moved, like Tarik Skubal or Mason Miller, it can often be most beneficial to think about the players who remain and still wind up benefiting from the trade. In this article, I'm going to look at players who could see their fantasy value improve actionably at the deadline, whether they are the ones traded away or the ones who find themselves filling a vacated role.
For this article, I'm only going to focus on trades that seem likely. So I know that Shea Langeliers and Hunter Goodman are being floated in trade rumors, but I don't think either one of them is going to be moved, so we're not going to discuss which catchers could step into starting roles in two offensive-friendly environments. I will admit that left us with a list that doesn't include a lot of "league winners," but that's also the nature of the expanded playoff format. There are a lot of teams that still find themselves in contention, so we may not see as many impact hitters be traded away, which means there might be fewer openings in lineups.
With that preamble out of the way, let's get to the names.
Cole Carrigg - OF, Rockies: Carrigg has hit well in his rookie season, slashing .287/.367/.519 in 34 games with four home runs, 27 runs scored, and 23 RBI. He has slightly below-average barrel rates and hard-hit rates, so he's not tearing the cover off of the ball, but he has good bat speed and is making better-than-league-average zone contact, which is a nice profile in Coors Field. Yet, despite being a switch hitter, Carrigg seems to be splitting playing time with Tyler Freeman. A trade of one or both of Jake McCarthy and Mickey Moniak would open up an everyday role for Carrigg, who wouldn't be a MUST ADD, but would be a nice depth outfield piece in a great home park.
Victor Bericoto - OF, Giants: Bericoto is currently on the injured list with a strained oblique, but by the time the trade deadline rolls around, he will have already missed a month, which means he could be returning shortly thereafter. The rookie has slashed .293/.305/.552 in 59 plate appearances with four home runs, nine RBI, and one steal. He has a 46.5% hard-hit rate and also posted a 50.4% hard-hit rate in Triple-A while posting elite bat speed numbers, so the power production could be very real. He does have some swing and miss in his game because he is an aggressive hitter, but he also has league-average zone contact rates in the minors and a 91.5% rate in his limited MLB sample, so he might make enough contact to make the power work. The Giants are currently shopping Jung Hoo Lee, which could open up a regular outfield spot for Bericoto when he's back from injury.

Dynasty fantasy baseball - it is a long-term game where a manager must exploit potential rather than current value. We look for who may become a breakout star and stash them on our bench while the current stars of baseball do the immediate work. It is much more of a chess match, but the smartest shall prevail.
A great way to leverage your team's upside is to focus on the MLB's top prospects. Who will be coming up soon, and/or who just arrived in the majors? Ranked inside the top 50 of the pipeline, stars sit in the waiting. They just may become the next Mike Trout or Aaron Judge- who knows? Here are the latest prospects to have a keen eye on late in July.
Anderson was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. He currently plays for Double-A Arkansas and does so with a 1.36 ERA in 14 games. Anderson's record is 8-1, and he is arguably the best pitching prospect in baseball. He is supposed to be an ace-caliber pitcher once he makes his debut, and that debut is expected by the end of this season.
The value of Anderson may not bring you a 2026 **** le, but it shall give you Skenes-level upside in 2027 and beyond.
Verdict: Must-Stash

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Noah Gray is often overshadowed by his All-Pro running mate Travis Kelce, but his contributions to the team's offense shouldn't be overlooked.
While Kelce is the topic of most headlines, Gray has been a consistent contributor to Kansas City's offense for years and could be an ideal target for fantasy football managers who need a backup tight end in deep leagues.
Take a look at how ESPN's fantasy football experts expect Gray to perform in 2026:
Gray was targeted 37 times last season and managed to haul in 21 receptions for 178 yards but failed to score a touchdown.
According to ESPN's fantasy football experts, Gray is projected to record 26 receptions for 262 yards and one receiving touchdown in 2026. These numbers would net Gray a total of 60.56 fantasy points scored.

NFL training camps open up this week, which means the fantasy football season is fast approaching. While most teams know who will be the starting QB come Week 1, others will be figuring that out in heated competitions. Yahoo ******* yst Matt Harmon poses the biggest QB questions for fantasy going into training camps.
Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
Of all the quarterback battles we'll discuss here, the one taking place in Minnesota is the least likely, in my view, to be a real competition. The Vikings are insistent that J.J. McCarthy will get an even shot to be the QB1 over Kyler Murray but I'm highly skeptical. My sentiment isn't unique.
Maybe Murray doesn't hit as the starter; perhaps McCarthy can improve over an all-out flop season in his first showing as a pro. At this current moment, Murray, while a flawed player, is a better option heading into Week 1. McCarthy's 4.31 adjusted net yards per pass attempt in 2025 ranked 40th out of 45 passers with 100-plus attempts. Murray ranked 37th with 4.72, by far the lowest mark of his career. Even in his worst season as a pro in a far inferior environment, Murray was objectively better than McCarthy.
Unless McCarthy is just a dramatically improved version of the player we saw last year, I expect Murray to start the vast majority, if not all, of the games in 2026. As the starter, his rushing chops alone make him a clear QB1 candidate in fantasy but he's also a strong fit in a Vikings' passing game that's extremely downfield oriented, even if he won't access the middle of the field as much as Sam Darnold did for Kevin O'Connell in 2024.

The trend has been obvious in recent weeks — the fantasy baseball waiver wire is full of appealing hitters but barren of impactful starting pitchers. Few skilled starters have recently been promoted to the majors, and the few who recently emerged — such as Griffin Jax and Jake Bennett — were quickly scooped up by managers who were desperate to add another arm.
Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
The free agent imbalance can be tied to the trade market, since wise managers are consistently balancing all methods to improve their roster. It may be a good time to trade hitters for pitchers, as managers can quickly fill the vacated hitting spot with one of the players mentioned in this most recent waiver wire article. With this plan in mind, here are some pitchers to target on the trade market.
Bryan Woo, SP, Mariners: Although it's normal for Seattle pitchers to fare best when working at their pitcher-friendly home park, the splits for Woo this season are eye-popping. The right-hander has pitched like a Cy Young winner at T-Mobile Park (2.20 ERA) and a minor leaguer on the road (6.28 ERA). Some of the gap stems from a superior strikeout rate at home, but much of the problem lies in BABIP gap of over 100 points. Woo entered the season with a reasonable ERA gap of 1.09 between his home and road marks, and the expectation here is that he will find better success in his road starts during the second half. If that happens, he will be a top-10 pitcher who can currently be acquired for a reasonable return.
Reid Detmers, SP/RP, Angels: After enjoying a dazzling five-start stretch (1.36 ERA, 0.55 WHIP, 39:5 K:BB ratio) from late May to the middle of June, Detmers allowed exactly five earned runs in three of his final four first-half outings. Such is life for the inconsistent southpaw, who opened the second half by striking out seven Tigers over six shutout innings. Managers who already have a strong pitching staff may wish to avoid such an inconsistent hurler, but those who need to swing for the fences this summer should make a buy-low acquisition on Detmers, who has terrific swing-and-miss skills (10.2 K/9 rate) and a notable gap between his 4.16 ERA and 3.27 xERA.

Cam Skattebo decided to test the hearts of New York Giants fans as the second-year running back, who is recovering from a broken right fibula and dislocated right ankle, decided to do a backflip on stage this past weekend at Fanatics Fest.
While Skattebo said he was "perfectly fine" and promised to "not hurt myself before the season," there was a curiosity as to what John Harbaugh would think when he saw the video. While the new Giants head coach has not spoken to the running back, he did seem to be ok with it all during an appearance on the "Bleav in Giants" podcast.
"I haven't talked to him yet, I'm going to talk to him I'm sure. My reaction was this: Dude, at least stick it. I mean, land the thing if you're going to do it, you know?" a smiling Harbaugh said. "That was my first reaction."
Skattebo said in May that his rehab was coming along good and that while the physical part has been fine, it was the mental battle that's been the toughest. Despite that, he noted he'll be "ready to go" for the Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys,

ESPN parted ways with Ryan Clark on Monday in an awkward on-air dismissal during "NFL Live." On Tuesday, more layoffs swept through Bristol, and former NFL MVP Cam Newton was among those let go.
The move sparked an immediate pile-on from the NFL community on X, with fans and media personalities believing that firing Newton was the right decision, and some even brought up his viral comments on Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman from the 2025 season.
Newton wasn't the only recognizable face to get fired on Tuesday. NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, longtime **** yst Charles Davis, NFL **** yst Bart Scott, SportsCenter anchor David Lloyd, injury and fantasy expert Stephania Bell, and MLB play-by-play announcer Karl Ravech were all let go as part of the cuts.
Before his dismissal, Newton had served as Stephen A. Smith's primary Monday co-host on "First Take" during the football season, replacing Shannon Sharpe in that role last year.
With both Newton and Clark gone, Smith now enters the 2026 football season without either of his primary debate partners on the show's highest-rated day of the week. ESPN has said it will look for a permanent replacement for Newton on Mondays, though no candidates have been named.

As NFL training camps get set to open over the next week, HBO and NFL Films released the trailer for this season's edition of "Hard Knocks," which will feature the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
The series will premiere a week earlier than originally scheduled on Aug. 4 at 9 p.m. ET. The 27th season of the show will follow Mike Macdonald's team as they prepare to defend their **** le.
Seahawks rookies reported last Friday and will be joined by the veterans last this week as camp fully gets underway in Renton, Wash.
This is the franchise's first time on the show. Seahawks general manager John Schneider declined an offer in 2013 to appear on "Hard Knocks," saying the team did not want to bring "attention to ourselves." Now that they've given NFL Films and HBO the green light the preparation by Macdonald, quarterback Sam Darold, and NFL Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba, among others, will be documented over five weeks leading into the 2026 NFL season.

ESPN is undergoing a significant round of layoffs for the first time in three years after taking over NFL Network in April.
Chairman Jimmy Pitaro said in a memo to employees Tuesday morning, obtained by The ****** ociated Press, that most moves are the result of ESPN's acquisition of NFL Network and other league digital ****** ets last year.
The deal was announced last August and also included NFL Fantasy and the rights to distribute the RedZone channel to cable and satellite operators. In return, the NFL got a 10% equity stake in ESPN.
It was approved by government regulators in January. NFL Network employees became part of ESPN on April 1.
"Over the past several months, we've made significant progress integrating the NFL ****** ets that we acquired into ESPN," Pitaro wrote in the memo. "Throughout this process, we have taken the time to carefully evaluate our collective teams, resources and organizational structure to best position us for the future. As a result, we had to make some difficult decisions about job impacts that we will be communicating today.

This is Part II of my fantasy football top-36 overall players series. ***** ysis for the first 12 players went live on Monday, and I was able to sneak in Kenneth Walker III as the last on that list. He'd be the biggest surprise there, but the difference between Walker and the next half-dozen players in today's column is slim to none. Unfortunately, what is "slim to none" before the season is going to be significant during the season. Let's get these decisions correct.

Hunter Biden named Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) among the top three "MAGA laptops" he wants revealed — also speculating that the senator is "really kinky."
On Saturday's episode of the "I've Had It" podcast, former President Joe Biden's son, 56, got real with host Jennifer Welch about his suspicions of Cruz, 55.
"So your laptop, they had so much fun about it… I want to talk about our fantasy laptops we could acquire, you and me," Welch said, kicking off the topic. "I want us to decide our top three MAGA laptops — MAGA men — that we could get."
After naming Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) as his No. 1, Hunter declared, "Ted Cruz, of course, 100%" for his No. 2 spot.
"Do you get a gaydar ping from Ted?" Welch asked, to which Hunter replied, "No, you know what I get? I get a really, really kinky, weird s— thing."

Stephen A. Smith delivered a forceful defense of capitalism and the American dream Thursday on his SiriusXM program, "Straight Shooter with Stephen A.," accusing the socialist wing of the Democratic Party of portraying the United States as the source of Americans' economic struggles.
"This ain't Denmark. This ain't Finland. This ain't Sweden. This is the United States of America," Smith said.
The ESPN commentator argued that the United States remained a destination for people who believe hard work and individual ambition can provide opportunities unavailable elsewhere.
"You roll over to these borders with the vision and the fantasy and the passion that, 'Yo, here I can achieve anything,'" Smith said.
