The race to build the infrastructure behind artificial intelligence is creating a new boom for America's blue-collar workforce, as construction firms scramble to fill jobs building data centers, power systems and the facilities that keep the technology running.
The rapid buildout is putting a new premium on skilled trades, with data centers requiring armies of workers to prepare sites, pour concrete, install electrical systems and handle the infrastructure needed to bring them online.
"For many years, there's been a lack of focus just in general from what is the benefit of a career in the trades," explained Cole Renken, general manager of Merlo America, the U.S. division of Italian construction equipment manufacturer Merlo Group.
"It's a very stable income, very stable lifestyle that you can provide for," he added.

Good Good CEO Matt Kendrick took to social media early Friday morning to slam Callaway for the advertisement controversy that has dominated golf headlines all week.
At 3:38 a.m. ET Friday, Kendrick wrote on X/Twitter, "Interesting that Callaway Golf asks us to make an ad then approves it then asks us to take the fall then drops us in a coordinated media blitz and covers it up by giving a million dollars away thinking everyone will be ok with it. 30 for 39 will be legendary."
Kendrick also replied to a slew of posts from other users, most notably one who suggested Good Good file a lawsuit against Callaway, to which Kendrick responded "not opposed." That reply has since been deleted, but screenshots rapidly circulated social media.
Late Friday morning, David Rumsey with Front Office Sports managed to get Kendrick on the phone and published a Q&A, in which Kendrick said that Good Good is "not thinking about" suing Callaway and that the X post was "just off the cuff responding to a comment." Kendrick told Rumsey that he never saw the video before it went live and that Good Good "removed the people responsible" for the ad.
Kendrick was also asked about why he decided to send the initial X post Friday regarding the situation with Callaway: "It's just been tough with everything I've seen from what's come towards my family and things like that, and the frustration, it's just tough," Kendrick said. "You don't like being kicked when you're down. It's definitely reactionary, but it comes from a place of just not liking what's coming from this to us personally. It's been tough. The company is one thing, but family is a whole 'nother thing.

According to Sky Germany, RB Leipzig are on the verge of loaning out El-Chadaille Bitshiabu before the transfer window closes.
Bitshiabu's move to RC Lens is said to be imminent, with negotiations between the clubs progressing rapidly and are "well advanced."
A purchase option is not expected to be part of the potential deal – the player's development is the primary focus for Leipzig.
Accordingly, the club from Saxony hasn't given up on the young defender in the long term and still believe in his potential.
This is likely the reason why Leipzig will continue to cover part of his salary as he plays a significant role for the Ligue 1 club.

It was against this background, that we originally invested in Pinduoduo in 2022. I believed the market was misunderstanding the company and the operating leverage inherent in the model.

When roster turnover hits an NFL unit, leadership voids rarely linger unfilled for long. Following the free-agency departure of veteran guard Isaac Seumalo to the Arizona Cardinals, the Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive line found itself searching for a new anchor in the meeting room.
Third-year guard Mason McCormick has stepped directly into that void.
Speaking on teammate Cameron Heyward's podcast, "Not Just Football with Cam Heyward," starting tackle Troy Fautanu explained how the dynamic inside the positional unit shifted once Seumalo departed. He noted that it forced younger players to mature at an accelerated pace.
"I think just the dynamic switched when we lost Isaac to the Cardinals and someone had to step up," Fautanu shared during the episode. "I really think Mason did a really good job at being the vocal one out of all of us, just because that's who he is. That's the kind of person that he's always been and we needed that from the room."
McCormick's transition into a primary vocal presence reflects the rapid maturation required across Pittsburgh's front five. Despite entering only his third NFL season, McCormick is suddenly viewed as one of the established foundational pillars in a young, talent-heavy room.

Ross Stores, Inc. (NASDAQ:ROST) surged after raising its full-year fiscal 2026 earnings guidance. The off-price retailer boosted its FY26 EPS target to $8.61–$8.77 from $7.50–$7.74, cruising past consensus estimates of $7.82.
The primary catalyst was a stellar Q2 2026 report. Total sales rose 13% to $6.3 billion, beating estimates, while comparable-store sales jumped 10% versus 7.6% expected, driven primarily by customer traffic. Operating profits reached $1.1 billion, with operating margin expanding 610 basis points to include a 405 basis point boost from IEEPA tariff refunds. Reported diluted EPS reached $2.66 (vs. $1.56 a year ago), which included a $0.60 per share tariff refund benefit. Excluding this benefit, adjusted EPS came in at $2.06, still beating expectations driven by broad-based gains across customer demographics. The company also increased its fiscal 2026 store expansion plan to 115 new locations.
This performance brings up a core question: Does Ross Stores' double-digit comp growth signal sustainable market share gains, or will non-recurring tariff tailwinds and inventory buildup pressure future upside?
Wall Street **** ysts responded aggressively to the quarter. On August 21, Barclays **** yst Adrienne Yih raised the firm's price target on ROST to $298 from $260, keeping an Overweight rating. She cited the 10% comp beat, noting that Ross's "short-term execution gap versus peers remains wide" while trend strength has continued into Q3. The same day, Deutsche Bank raised its target to $294 from $283 with a Buy rating, highlighting that comp growth was driven by broad-based transaction gains and management's confidence in accelerating two-year comp momentum.
Operationally, Ross benefits from a scalable off-price model that efficiently sources excess inventory. Rapid turns and frequent product changes foster traffic and customer loyalty. Traffic gains across all merchandise categories indicate broad market share gains rather than reliance on a single segment. Furthermore, strong cash generation ($1.71 billion in H1 operating cash flow) supports store expansion, with 115 new openings planned for FY26, and continuous share buybacks without balance sheet strain.

Venture Global, Inc. (NYSE:VG) shares are drawing heightened attention following the release of its second-quarter 2026 financial results. The company delivered substantial growth across key operational and financial metrics, prompting management to raise its full-year 2026 Consolidated Adjusted EBITDA guidance to $8.7 billion–$9.1 billion (up from $8.2 billion–$8.5 billion). Driven by accelerating production from its Plaquemines LNG facility, Venture Global exported 127 cargoes and sold 466.4 TBtu during the quarter, a 42% surge in volume year-over-year.
For Q2 2026, Venture Global, Inc. (NYSE:VG) reported total revenue of $4.6 billion, up 48% from $3.10 billion in Q2 2025. Operating income soared 111% year-over-year to $2.2 billion, while net income attributable to common stockholders surged 266% to $1.3 billion ($0.51 diluted EPS vs. $0.14 a year ago). Consolidated Adjusted EBITDA reached $2.5 billion, marking a 79% jump compared to $1.39 billion in the prior-year period. Stronger implied liquefaction fees under commissioning sales agreements and tight cost controls allowed operating margins to expand to 47.8%. Additionally, the board declared a $0.04 per share cash dividend for Q3.
On August 12, Wells Fargo raised its price target on Venture Global, Inc. (NYSE:VG) to $15 from $14 while maintaining an Equal Weight rating. The firm noted Q2 was essentially in line with expectations, highlighting the company's raised 2026 guidance above consensus on higher market spreads. Wells cited higher underlying EBITDA estimates and a significant increase in Venture Global's dividend per share as key supporting drivers.
This brings up a core question: Does the guidance hike and operational expansion signal a lasting multi-year earnings transformation, or are investors exposed to project execution and leverage risks?
Proponents point to Venture Global, Inc. (NYSE:VG)'s strong profitability, expanding scale, and long-term contracted position. Rapid volume growth, evidenced by passing its 1,000th total exported cargo, proves operational capability, while 91% contracted cargo coverage for 2026 offers high cash flow visibility. Furthermore, management's recent refinancing efforts extend maturities and lower debt-service costs, offering a stable financial foundation to fund project build-outs like CP2 and maintain shareholder returns.

On August 17, satellite communications giant Viasat, Inc. (NASDAQ:VSAT) selected launch and ****** e systems provider Rocket Lab Corporation (NASDAQ:RKLB) to build the ****** ecraft bus for the U.S. ****** e Force's Protected Tactical SATCOM-Global (PTS-G) program. Under the initial "Swarm 1" production award, a $218.8 million prime contract won by Viasat in May, Rocket Lab will supply a geosynchronous configuration of its Lightning ****** ecraft platform (Lightning-GEO) to host Viasat's dual-band X/Ka-band anti-jamming payload. Stifel ****** yst Erik Rasmussen maintained a Buy rating on Rocket Lab following the news, citing a "meaningful share" of the award for Rocket Lab that presents a high eight-figure revenue opportunity and positions the company well for follow-on contracts.
Viasat and Rocket Lab present two fundamentally different financial profiles, with Viasat emphasizing scale and improving cash flow while Rocket Lab delivers significantly faster growth. Viasat, Inc. (NASDAQ:VSAT) generated approximately $1.2 billion in Q1 FY2027 revenue, down 1% year over year, primarily reflecting a 4% decline in its Defense and Advanced Technology segment while Communications Services remained flat. Its net loss narrowed to $52 million from $56 million in Q1 FY2026, helped by lower interest expenses following debt repayment. Adjusted EBITDA declined 7% year over year to $381 million, while free cash flow increased 19% to $72 million, excluding non-recurring items. This improvement helped reduce net leverage to 3.2x, down 0.4x, while quarterly awards increased 10% year over year to $1.3 billion.
Rocket Lab Corporation (NASDAQ:RKLB), meanwhile, posted record Q2 2026 revenue of $234.1 million, up 62% year over year, driven by rapid expansion in its ****** e Systems business. Although the company recorded a GAAP net loss of $49.25 million, gross profit increased to $84.57 million, while backlog surged 137% year over year to $2.36 billion. Cash reserves also climbed to $2.13 billion following an ATM equity offering. While Viasat generates roughly five times the revenue and stronger operating cash flow, Rocket Lab is growing at a much faster pace, rapidly scaling its high-margin ****** e Systems business alongside launch services.
Viasat's bull case is supported by strong cash flow generation, with $72 million in free cash flow, and a multi-billion-dollar backlog that provides visibility for continued debt reduction. Its ****** e Force PTS-G win also reinforces the strength of its defense business and could support future growth. However, the bear case centers on declining top-line growth, with revenue down 1% year over year. Heavy capital expenditures on satellite constellations, combined with existing leverage constraints, could limit the company's ability to respond quickly to changing market conditions.

In June, the stock topped out at $1,214 per share before dropping 39%. It's now trading around $930. But I think it's going to break its own share price record by the end of the year. Here's why I'm predicting a $1,300 share price for Micron before the end of 2026.
Micron's quarterly revenue increased 346% year over year (YOY) in its most recently reported quarter, and its net income was up a jaw-dropping 1,400%, but that doesn't tell the whole story.

There's a great deal to like about quantum firm D-Wave (QBTS), including its promising technologies, its rapidly growing bookings and backlog, the investment that it received from the U.S. government, and its impressive list of customers.
However, Quantinuum (QNT), whose IPO was launched by majority owner Honeywell (HON), also has all of these attributes. However, its revenue, backlog, and cash reserves are meaningfully larger than those of D-Wave. Due to these points, I view QNT stock as the better, safer pick for investors for now.

The rapid buildout of AI infrastructure has been driving a strong demand cycle for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT) benefits from such a trend, thanks to chipmakers increasing spending on advanced DRAM, HBM, leading-edge logic, as well as advanced packaging.
This trend is evidenced by the company's latest results, which highlight real financial growth. Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT) reported record revenue of $9.12 billion, with non-GAAP EPS of $3.50 and $3.17 on a GAAP basis. Importantly, gross margin was above 50%, demonstrating its 13th consecutive quarter of YoY gross-margin expansion.
The company is not just benefiting from elevated semiconductor spending. It is gaining share too. Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT) upgraded its Semiconductor Systems revenue expectations for CY 2026, anticipating growth faster than the broader semiconductor equipment market. Notably, the momentum seems to be robust in DRAM, leading-edge foundry/logic, and advanced packaging. Collectively, they continue to become critical as AI chips are more complex.
Furthermore, the numbers support operating leverage. For Q4, the company expects revenue of ~$10.25 billion, demonstrating YoY growth of 51%. The non-GAAP EPS is anticipated to reach $4.02, implying growth of 85% YoY. Semiconductor Systems revenue is projected to increase by 62% to ~$7.9 billion.
UBS ******* yst Timothy Arcuri kept a "Buy" rating on Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT)'s stock and a price objective of $675, highlighting the company's aggressive capacity expansion and continued share gains. The long-term thesis needs to be understood, with Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT) aiming to double its systems output capacity by CY 2028, and ******* yst's model expecting systems revenue approaching ~$14 billion per quarter and earnings reaching $30 per share.

Tadej Pogacar recovered from a brief off-road excursion to outsprint Enric Mas and claim his third victory at this year's Vuelta a Espana, but he was made to fight all the way to the line by the Spaniard on stage six.
After attacking on the final climb and rapidly establishing a handsome lead it looked as though the defending world champion would romp away to a trademark solo victory.
But, as the rest of the main contenders struggled in his slipstream, Movistar's Mas reeled him in and overtook him on the final metres of the climb to claim maximum points in the king of the mountain's classification.
The home rider then initially led down the final descent, at one point gesturing to Pogacar to take it cautiously.
But the six-time Grand Tour winner, who is chasing the Vuelta crown to complete the set with victory in all three of the sport's biggest stage races, having already won five Tours de France and a Giro d'Italia, did not heed the warning.

With the returning rally in the price of bitcoin (BTC-USD), comes the return of big calls on bitcoin by the Wall Street bulls.
Bernstein ***** yst Gautum Chhugani thinks bitcoin will notch several important price milestones over the next few years.
"In our base case, we expect bitcoin to reach new all-time high of $150K by mid-2027 and $300K by 2029 end. However, given the macro regime shift, if institutional capital actively chases bitcoin, we could see an accelerated timeline, with bitcoin potentially peaking at $500K in 2029 and rapid recovery to new all-time highs of ~$200K by mid-2027. We maintain our bitcoin price forecast of ~$1 M million by 2033 end across the base and bull case," Chhugani said in a note on Wednesday.
Bitcoin is having a price gusher to close out August.
The price of bitcoin broke through $80,000 early Tuesday for the first time in 15 weeks. In the last 10 days, bitcoin is up 25%.

Home prices rose again in June as mortgage rates stabilized during the typical peak period for buying and selling.
The S&P Cotality Case-Shiller 20-City Composite Home Price Index, which measures home prices in 20 of the nation's largest metropolitan areas, increased 2.1% in June from a year earlier, according to data released Tuesday.
The national index, which includes more metro areas, jumped 1.5%.
"While home prices continue to decline in real terms, lower inflation and firmer nominal home price growth in June helped slow that pace of erosion," Rebecca Kaufman, ***** ociate director of commodities at S&P Dow Jones Indices, said in a statement.
Mortgage rates held steady around 6.5% in June, a level high enough to sideline many prospective buyers and sellers. But those who remained in the market enjoyed a period of stability after rates rose rapidly in the spring.

Benzinga and Yahoo Finance LLC may earn commission or revenue on some items through the links below.
Investors trying to value humanoid robotics startups may need to rethink traditional metrics. In an exclusive email interview with Benzinga, RoboStrategy, Inc. (NASDAQ:BOT) CEO Andrew Kang said current revenue tells only a small part of the story for companies targeting massive future markets.
To illustrate the point, he noted Anthropic's rapid rise as an example of how quickly frontier AI companies can scale.
Kang noted that "Anthropic went from $10m in revenue in 2022 to expected $65B ARR in 2026," arguing that robotics investors should also focus on long-term growth potential rather than near-term sales alone.
While discounted future cash flows and production forecasts remain important, he said qualitative factors—including the quality of a company's hardware, its ability to scale manufacturing and the performance of its robot foundation models—will increasingly shape valuations.

Aug 26 (Reuters) - Annual U.S. inflation unexpectedly held steady in July well above the Federal Reserve's 2% target for the 65th straight month, and the pause in the decline from a recent Iran-war induced peak is likely to add to the central bank's tense debate over whether interest rates should be lifted or held steady.
The Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index increased 3.7% in the 12 months through July unchanged from June, the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic ****** ysis said on Wednesday. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast a reading for PCE, which the Fed uses to set its target, of 3.6%.
PCE shot to a three-year high of 4.1% in May in rapid fashion after President Donald Trump in late February launched air strikes along with Israel against Iran, sending energy prices spiraling upward as the conflict shut in roughly a fifth of global oil supplies.
Six months later the conflict appears no closer to a final resolution, though the exchange of fire has diminished and oil prices and the wider inflation wave they instigated have retreated from their mid-spring highs.
The fall back in inflation in the last two months has helped buoy the arguments of the majority of Federal Open Market Committee members who voted to leave rates unchanged in July in the range of 3.50% to 3.75%, where they have been since December. But the sluggish pace of improvement is unlikely to mollify a growing minority of officials who argue tighter policy is needed given inflation has been above target since February 2021 and will not get there without further restraint.

Guinness Global Innovators, an investment management company, recently released its Q2 2026 quarterly investor update for its "Guinness Global Innovators Fund". You can download the letter here. The Guinness Global Innovators Fund focuses on investing in global companies that benefit from innovation in technology, communication, globalization, and management strategies. In the second quarter of 2026, the Guinness Global Innovators Fund returned 13.8% in GBP, compared with 13.0% for the MSCI World Index and 13.1% for the IA Global sector average. Easing Middle East tensions, falling oil prices, and renewed enthusiasm for artificial intelligence helped reverse much of the caution seen earlier in the year, with investors rotating back toward growth stocks and AI infrastructure beneficiaries. The Fund benefited from its overweight position in the Information Technology sector, while its overweight position in Communication Services detracted. Avoiding weaker Utilities, Materials, and Energy also supported relative performance. Also, please check the Fund's top five holdings to see its best picks for 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Guinness Global Innovators Fund highlighted Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) as a new holding. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) is a leading semiconductor company that designs and manufactures AI accelerators, microprocessors, and graphics processing units. On August 21, 2026, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Guinness Global Innovators Fund stated the following regarding Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) is a fabless semiconductor company focused on high-performance and AI computing. "We initially bought Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBE) for its high-quality fundamentals: a subscription-based model that generated over 96% of revenue, profit margins approaching 30%, and a deep distribution network supported by strong brand equity. We believed these attributes would provide a durable competitive edge and saw potential for Adobe to expand into historically underpenetrated segments such as non-traditional enterprise users and individual creators to enable deeper monetisation. However, the shares have struggled recently due to the rapidly changing and increasingly competitive landscape in the creative design and data **** ytics markets. Initially, Adobe was seen as a beneficiary of the AI boom as its flagship tool Firefly quickly gained momentum, generated over 16 billion creative outputs and set adoption records. Florida State coach Mike Norvell won't release a depth chart before Saturday's season opener against New Mexico State, but one of the Seminoles' most intriguing position battles remains at quarterback.
Ashton Daniels has secured the starting job, yet the competition for the No. 2 role continues between sophomore Kevin Sperry and junior college transfer Malachi Marshall. While Sperry entered fall camp as the presumed backup, Marshall's rapid development since arriving this summer has turned the race into one of the team's most closely watched storylines.
The Seminoles open the season against New Mexico State at 7 p.m. Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium, and the pecking order behind Daniels may not become clear until game action unfolds.

Marshall arrived with significant ground to make up. The Iowa Western Community College transfer enrolled during the summer and was tasked with learning Norvell's offense while building chemistry with new teammates in a condensed timeframe.
