Michael Burry is no stranger to controversial market calls. The hedge fund manager and founder of Scion Capital cemented his place in Wall Street history by predicting the subprime lending market crash in 2008. His high-stakes bet earned him $100 million, while his investors banked $725 million. The events were immortalized in the movie The Big Short, and Burry still turns heads with his headline-making calls.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
The legendary investor's most recent target has been artificial intelligence (AI) and, more specifically, Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA). Burry takes issue with the industry's estimates of the useful life of semiconductors used in AI, believing they are too long.
However, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang just put a nail in Burry's bear case.

Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) could be one of the biggest beneficiaries of Anthropic's accelerating compute requirements. The opportunity comes amid growing concerns that Google's decision to develop more of its chips internally could threaten Broadcom's custom silicon business.
However, Macquarie ****** yst Arthur Lai argued on September 3 that many of these concerns may already be priced in. The stock is down by about 24% from its all-time high, while Google's work with MediaTek and its expanding relationship with Marvell have added to concerns about Broadcom losing share in future TPU programs.
According to Lai, the recent weakness could create an attractive entry point as Broadcom positions itself to capture what could become a $40 billion opportunity from Anthropic.
In April, Anthropic announced an expanded partnership with Google and Broadcom to secure next-generation TPU capacity. Anthropic plans to use its computing infrastructure to accelerate training and inference for its Claude family of artificial intelligence models as demand for AI applications continues to grow.
The partnership could provide Broadcom with an important avenue for expanding its custom AI semiconductor business. The company has also been expanding its AI infrastructure capabilities through partnerships with major financial institutions. Together with Apollo and Blackstone, it launched an AI XPV platform designed to support more than 20 gigawatts of compute capacity.

During a segment on the September 3 episode, Mad Money host Jim Cramer shared a detailed bullish thesis on Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN). He stated:
Let's start with Amazon. Ever since we went out to see Amazon earlier this year, I've been stuck on something that CEO Andy Jassy told me. He said they're going to make an immense amount of money in artificial intelligence. They were going to profit from their gigantic commitment to data centers and next year will be huge for the compute sales. Well, I think it's being pulled forward. I think it may already be huge right now. I also remember Andy talking about the $50 billion semiconductor business that's buried in the company. I like the healthcare initiatives... Amazon Web Services is doing incredibly well. Their grocery delivery business, wow...
Alright, what can I say? All this for a stock that's up just 12% for the year; that's wrong. Amazon's balance sheet isn't as good as it was a year ago; enough already. What if Amazon Web Services is able to make four times what it just paid for 2 million GPUs from NVIDIA? That ratio, by the way, is what NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang told me companies can expect to get when they buy NVIDIA chips. That makes me think that Amazon is cheap. We've all kind of forgotten that there's a reason why a smart executive like Andy Jassy is willing to wreck Amazon's balance sheet like the old days. It's because they're going to make fortunes with the money they spend. And we are getting closer and closer to seeing huge profits for investments that the Street has hated. You can't wait until next year to buy the stock of Amazon. And that's why it is a screaming buy with the stock trading at about 20 times this year's earnings. That's wrong.
Amazon Web Services remains the primary profit engine for the company. In the second quarter, AWS revenue surged 37% year over year to reach $42.2 billion, putting its annual run rate at roughly $169 billion. Operating income for the cloud unit jumped to $16.6 billion. Companies shifting their operations to handle AI and heavy workloads are turning those massive data center investments into high-margin profits. Aside from basic cloud hosting, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is leaning into its own custom chips, like Trainium and Graviton, and growing adoption of the Bedrock platform to keep its revenue streams strong and diversified.
Not everyone on Wall Street shares Cramer's enthusiasm, as it could be pointed out that Amazon.com, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:AMZN) balance sheet is noticeably weaker than it was a year ago as its long-term debt increased from nearly $66 billion at the end of 2025 to nearly $129 billion by mid-2026. Heavy capital commitments and soaring data center expenses, with full-year capital expenditure guidance climbing around $220 billion, have strained cash flow flexibility. Investors could be worried that the company is spending too aggressively. If enterprise demand for artificial intelligence tools slows down or if the massi

ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:ASML) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE:TSM) have given investors a clearer view of their next manufacturing transition. The important distinction is when each company might earn a return.
Their September 8 announcement says TSMC intends to introduce ASML's High-NA extreme ultraviolet technology into high-volume advanced-node manufacturing starting in 2030. A separate initiative targets a larger photomask pilot line in 2031 and corresponding lithography systems for advanced production in 2033.
Image: Courtesy of ASML
Those dates describe successive stages, not a single launch delayed until 2033. Initial production would use existing six-inch masks; the later transition would introduce twelve-inch masks.
For ASML, a major customer's stated adoption plan strengthens the long-term demand case. More advanced AI chips require increasingly complex manufacturing, and TSMC expects more layers to need High-NA technology as nodes progress.

Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) just posted one of the best quarters you'll ever see from a company involved in the AI computing equipment ******* e. It grew its AI semiconductor revenue at a 221% pace during the third quarter of FY 2027 (ended Aug. 2). That's better performance than nearly any of its competitors have ever put up, but that's just the beginning.
Broadcom announced major news about future demand, and there's really only one conclusion after learning about their projections: Buy the stock hand over fist.
Continue »
Broadcom's exposure to AI computing units comes from its custom AI chips. The company partners with AI hyperscalers to design and build chips specifically tailored to their workloads. If done properly, this can provide a computing unit that delivers better performance at a lower cost.
However, the workload must stay consistent. This means that broad-purpose GPUs won't ever be fully replaced, but the market share of custom AI chips could increase.

On August 6, Nova (NASDAQ:NVMI) reported second-quarter 2026 results for the three months ended June 30, and the numbers marked a new high point for the semiconductor metrology company. Revenue hit $255.0 million, up 8% from the first quarter of 2026 and 16% higher than the second quarter of 2025. GAAP net income reached $75 million, while non-GAAP net income climbed to $86.5 million. For a company built around measuring the tiniest details in chip manufacturing, the quarter itself was anything but small.
The headline figures tell part of the story, but the breakdown underneath is where the quarter gets interesting. GAAP earnings per diluted share reached $2.20 in the second quarter of 2026, up from $2.04 in the first quarter of 2026 and $2.14 a year earlier in the second quarter of 2025. Non-GAAP earnings per diluted share went further, hitting $2.51 in the second quarter of 2026 compared with $2.33 in the first quarter of 2026 and $2.20 in the second quarter of 2025. That is back-to-back sequential growth on both a GAAP and non-GAAP basis, not just a single strong quarter against an easy comparison.
Two product lines did the heavy lifting. Nova posted record revenue from its advanced logic devices business, which it tied to the industry's shift toward Gate-All-Around transistor architecture and rising demand for advanced process nodes. Advanced packaging solutions also hit a record, supported by capacity additions across both logic and memory manufacturing. Those are two distinct growth engines firing in the same quarter, which matters more than a single hot product line would.
Management is not treating this as a one-off. For the third quarter of 2026, the period ending September 30, Nova guided to revenue of $277 million to $287 million, GAAP diluted EPS of $2.46 to $2.61, and non-GAAP diluted EPS of $2.70 to $2.85. At the midpoint, that outlook points to another double-digit sequential jump in sales. President and CEO Gaby Waisman framed the quarter as validation of the company's long-term plan, citing broad-based customer demand, continued market share gains, and deeper engagement across leading-edge device segments as the drivers behind what he described as increased visibility into coming quarters.
The results were not clean across every line. Gross margin came in at 56.5% in the second quarter of 2026, down from 57.7% in the first quarter of 2026 and 57.8% in the second quarter of 2025. That is a decline on both a sequential and year-over-year basis even as revenue set records, which means the mix of what Nova sold this quarter carried lower profitability than what it sold a year ago.

Moerus Capital Management LLC, an investment management firm, recently released its "Worldwide Fund " second-quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The fund navigated a highly bifurcated investment environment in the second quarter of 2026, as investor enthusiasm for artificial intelligence and technology drove a sharp rally in growth stocks while capital moved away from more traditional, value-oriented areas. The Fund's Institutional Class returned 0.14% in Q2, compared with 14.49% for the MSCI ACWI ex USA and 14.93% for the MSCI ACWI, while its first-half return stood at 5.37%, versus 13.69% and 11.25%, respectively, for the two benchmarks. The relative underperformance was primarily driven by the Fund's limited exposure to Information Technology as semiconductor and AI-related stocks surged, while its Energy holdings also gave back some earlier gains as oil prices declined; however, the Fund benefited from several energy-related investments during the first half. Looking ahead, Moerus views the extreme gap between expensive AI-focused areas and neglected parts of the market as an opportunity, maintaining its long-term deep-value approach of investing in unpopular businesses and ******* ets at significant discounts to intrinsic value and using market volatility to identify potentially attractive investments. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Moerus Worldwide Fund highlighted stocks like CNH Industrial N.V. (NYSE:CNH). CNH Industrial N.V. manufactures and sells specialized machines and services for the farming and construction industries. The one-month return of CNH Industrial N.V. (NYSE:CNH) was 30.96% while its shares traded between $9.00 and $14.46 over the last 52 weeks. On September 7, 2026, CNH Industrial N.V. (NYSE:CNH) stock closed at approximately $14.40 per share, with a market capitalization of about $22.02 billion.

Looking ahead, Moerus views the extreme gap between expensive AI-focused areas and neglected parts of the market as an opportunity, maintaining its long-term deep-value approach of investing in unpopular businesses and **** ets at significant discounts to intrinsic value and using market volatility to identify potentially attractive investments. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.

CNBC reported that NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) CFO Colette Kress told investors on August 26 that fiscal 2028 revenue growth will reach 70%, far above the 44% average **** yst estimate tracked by LSEG, marking the company's first-ever year-ahead revenue forecast.
Applied to the roughly $396 billion consensus estimate for fiscal 2027, that guidance implies fiscal 2028 revenue near $673 billion to $700 billion. It would put Nvidia ahead of Apple and Alphabet and behind only Amazon among U.S. tech companies by revenue. The forecast followed fiscal second-quarter results that beat expectations across the board: revenue more than doubled to $96.22 billion, up 106% year over year, with data center revenue of $89 billion, up 117%, now making up 92% of total sales.
CEO Jensen Huang told investors AI has reached the point where it is doing productive, profitable work and that computing capacity itself is now translating directly into revenue. Shares jumped roughly 8.7% on the news, lifting the broader semiconductor sector. Management said the 70% figure shows supply constraints, primarily memory component shortages, rather than a ceiling on actual demand, and the outlook excludes China data center revenue.
The current quarter already delivered, not just promised. Revenue of $96.22 billion beat estimates by roughly $4 billion, and data center revenue's 117% year-over-year jump shows the AI buildout is generating historic growth today, not just in a projection.
NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA)'s customer base is broadening, which could reduce concentration risk. Huang said demand is now coming from hyperscale cloud providers alongside sovereign AI programs, neoclouds, AI startups, and enterprises. It means future growth depends less on any single large customer's spending decisions.

CNBC reported that NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA)'s Groq 3 LPX rack is in full production and will be deployed alongside its Vera CPUs and Rubin GPUs at neocloud Nebius later this year, Nvidia senior director Dion Harris told reporters.
The rack marks the commercialization of technology from Nvidia's $20 billion purchase of Groq's ***** ets in December, its largest deal on record. Each liquid-cooled rack packages 256 Groq chips. Nvidia said the rack can deliver 3,400 tokens per second, noting a benchmark from Artificial ***** ysis. Groq's chips are manufactured by Samsung, unlike Nvidia's own GPUs, which are made by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.
The $20 billion Groq deal represents a manageable financial risk for NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) relative to the strategic capabilities it could add to the company. Bernstein ***** yst Stacy Rasgon told CNBC that Nvidia is financially strong enough to absorb a deal of this size with little impact on its overall position. That gives Nvidia the flexibility to make large strategic investments while expanding into new AI chip technologies without materially straining its balance sheet.
Groq's technology extends Nvidia's dominance across the full AI compute stack rather than creating a rival product line. LPX handles low-latency inference while Nvidia's GPUs continue handling training and large-context processing. The rack can pair with Vera Rubin chips without customers changing their CUDA workflows, deepening the software lock-in that has made Nvidia hard to displace.
Execution has been fast, which matters in a market moving this quickly. Nvidia went from announcing the Groq purchase in December to full production and a named customer, Nebius, in eight months. It is a pace that shows Nvidia can absorb acquired technology and ship it rather than let it stall in integration.

Earnings season refuses to end. While others may have had enough, earnings reports are my lifeblood! Well, that and 1,500 milligrams of caffeine a day.
I'm glad earnings season rages on because it gives us the very latest insights on all things AI. This is super helpful information as I embark for the Super Bowl of tech conferences: the Goldman Sachs Communacopia tech gathering. More on that in a moment.
The past two weeks have been bonkers for the AI investment thesis. Any talk about peak AI needs to be tossed aside.
Broadcom's (AVGO) revenue surged 86% year over year in its most recent quarter. Adjusted earnings per share exploded 96%. Both metrics easily thumped ***** yst estimates.
The massive outperformance was fueled by relentless hyperscaler demand for custom AI chips and networking gear, with quarterly AI semiconductor revenue alone tripling to $16.7 billion.

TAIPEI, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Taiwan flexed its chip diplomacy muscles at a major trade show last week, portraying itself as a democratic and reliable supplier for the AI revolution, while signalling a willingness to share the benefits of its semiconductor prowess with like-minded partners.
Home to companies like TSMC whose chips power AI applications, diplomatically isolated Taiwan has long sought to leverage its tech prowess to garner international support, something Beijing routinely seeks to block saying the island is merely one of its provinces.
But Taiwan also faces pressure from the United States, its most important international backer and arms supplier, to shift more chip manufacturing there. That comes as TSMC is investing $265 billion in factories in the state of Arizona.
President Lai Ching-te, who, unusually, spoke at two separate events on the same day at the SEMICON Taiwan trade show, said Taiwanese companies were expanding globally to "let resilience create shared prosperity", and that the island's chip strength was based on democracy and rule of law.

Shares of Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) rose over 7% this past week after an ******* yst report highlighted the chipmaker's enormous artificial intelligence (AI)-driven growth potential.
Continue »
The AI boom is creating a massive need for the semiconductor chips that power high-performance computing infrastructure. Many investors are aware of this trend. But they may be overlooking the shift toward central processor units (CPUs), as compute needs transition from graphics processing unit (GPU)-based model training to agentic AI workloads.
Global Equities Research ******* yst Trip Chowdhry believes this shift will help Intel's annual earnings per share grow more than tenfold to $20 by 2031. For context, Wall Street's consensus estimates call for Intel's EPS to increase to $1.51 in 2026 and $2.04 in 2027, as per Yahoo! Finance.
In turn, Chowdhry sees Intel's stock price more than doubling to $200 per share.

During the September 1 episode of Mad Money, a caller inquired whether Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) is a buy. In response, Jim Cramer commented:
Okay, this is another one that proves my point. Marvell reported an amazing quarter. What they then said was, "Look, listen, maybe our big win won't be till 2029… It's going to be pushed back." They have an October meeting, beginning of October, their ****** yst meeting. That's going to tell us what's going to happen. I don't feel comfortable until I see what they say before I say just pull the trigger.
Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) has quietly become a powerhouse in the infrastructure driving the AI boom, specializing in custom chips and ultra-fast optical connections. Through massive partnerships, including custom silicon work with Google, the company has positioned itself right at the center of the AI buildout. Its data center revenue keeps shattering records because tech giants desperately need its networking gear to keep expensive GPUs from getting bottlenecked. For bulls, these multi-year deals mean steady, dependable growth that can ride out the usual semiconductor boom-and-bust cycles.
Even with great numbers, Wall Street has zero patience for tech stocks when timelines get pushed out. With Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) trading at a steep 50.25x forward multiple, there is no room for slip-ups if margins or execution wobble. As Cramer pointed out, management indicated that the big financial payoff from Google partnership might not arrive until 2029 which complicates things for investors expecting quick returns. Anyone counting on quick gains could face a reality check if customer spending slows down or unexpected hurdles pop up.
Wall Street's smart money is paying close attention to Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) as a practical way to back the AI infrastructure buildout. According to Insider Monkey's database tracking over 1,000 elite hedge funds, 96 hedge funds held positions in the company during the second quarter, up from 79 in the previous quarter, showing clear institutional backing. It is worth noting that the D E Shaw increased its position in Q2 by 658%, as per Insider Monkey. At the same time, short interest sits at just 3.79% of the float, indicating limited skepticism against the stock.

Noting that long-held KLA Corporation (NASDAQ:KLAC) shares had pulled back significantly after peaking past $300 in June, a caller on the September 1 episode of Mad Money asked if it is a buy, hold, or sell. In response, Jim Cramer said:
I think it's a great company. It is up 40% for the year. Its price-to-earnings multiple is still too high. It does great intellectual property. I think if you wanted to buy some here, it's fine. But again, I would not put a lot of it on. Why? Because these are all semiconductor capital equipment companies that I've been talking about this evening. They're extremely volatile. You can buy a quarter… and then you have to wait no more than that because we have to see what happens. I don't want you to put on too much money at one level in a stock this volatile.
KLA Corporation (NASDAQ:KLAC) has built an extraordinary business by dominating the semiconductor process control and inspection market. Advanced-node, high-bandwidth-memory and complex logic manufacturing increasingly requires sophisticated inspection and metrology tools, an area where KLA holds a leading position. The deep competitive moat and exceptional intellectual property make it an important player in the semiconductor supply chain. For long-term investors, this technical leadership provides a solid foundation that exceeds routine industry ups and downs.
Even with top-tier technology, KLA Corporation's (NASDAQ:KLAC) sharp climb leaves little room for error. Up nearly 33% year-to-date at the time of writing and trading at a forward multiple of 31.65x, the valuation shows a heavy dose of optimism. Semiconductor capital equipment stocks are notoriously cyclical and ******* e to sharp price swings, meaning that a pullback from recent highs can quickly turn into a deeper correction if market sentiment shifts or fab spending slows down.
Wall Street's major players keep a close watch on KLA Corporation (NASDAQ:KLAC) as a reliable gauge of overall semiconductor capital spending. According to Insider Monkey's database tracking elite hedge funds, 81 funds held a position in the stock during the second quarter, up from 71 in the previous quarter, showing clear institutional interest. Arrowstreet Capital remained the company's top shareholder in the second quarter, despite reducing its position by 41% to 4.7 million shares. At the same time, short interest sits at just 2.16% of the float, indicating that professional bears are largely keeping their distance despite the company's high price tag.

Eagle Capital Management, an investment management company, released its second quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. In the quarter, Eagle Capital Management discussed how enthusiasm around AI capital spending has driven strong S&P 500 earnings growth while also increasing risks from elevated valuations, concentrated demand, and aggressive investment ***** umptions. Eagle remains a strong believer in AI but prefers constructing a portfolio that can perform across multiple outcomes rather than relying on one forecast. The firm believes current earnings can overstate underlying economics because semiconductor equipment is depreciated over several years, while free cash flow growth remains much weaker. It also expects competition and additional capacity across AI labs, hyperscalers, and semiconductors to eventually create winners and losers. These dynamics are encouraging Eagle to recycle capital toward attractive opportunities outside the most crowded AI trades while maintaining selective exposure to high-quality beneficiaries. The portfolio trades at a 20% market discount with faster expected EPS growth. Please review the Strategy's top five holdings for key selections in 2026.
