Everyone expected some changes at Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA) (NYSE: BRKB) when Greg Abel took over as CEO in January. But one of his more surprising moves has been his aggressive investment in Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) (NASDAQ: GOOG).
Berkshire didn't start investing in Alphabet until the third quarter of 2025, but it now owns over $23 billion in Class A GOOGL shares and another $6 billion in Class C GOOG shares.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
While Berkshire tends to let its investments speak for themselves rather than add commentary for each decision, there are three likely reasons why it's been loading up on shares.
Berkshire opened a position in Alphabet in the third quarter of 2025, purchasing roughly 18 million shares. While Warren Buffett was still CEO and had indicated he initiated Berkshire's Alphabet ownership, Abel still likely had an influence on the decision based on what was to follow. In the first quarter of 2026, Berkshire purchased 40 million more shares.

Tariffs don't apply directly to car insurance, but they can still raise your insurance costs. That's because tariffs apply directly to items that affect the cost of car insurance claims, namely auto parts, steel, and aluminum.
Since the Trump administration's tariffs were enacted, those costs have been passed down to auto dealers and consumers, and the average suggested retail price of a car has increased 10.4%.
Here's how tariffs impact your insurance bill and ways to lower your costs.
Automotive tariffs have triggered a domino effect that could contribute to higher car insurance costs over time.

Americans lost a shocking $3.5 billion to imposter scams in 2025, according to data from the Federal Trade Commission (1). These losses are around three times greater than in 2020. Imposter scams were the leading cause of fraud last year, with almost one in three fraud reports related to scammers impersonating others via phone, text, or other means.
Imposter scams involve a criminal pretending to be someone they're not, like a bank rep or government official, to convince the victim to give them money or personal details. These scams often target older Americans (2), but it's not just seniors who pay the price. Young people can find themselves facing financial losses too — in some cases because they tried to help a parent.

Warsh is seeking to change many aspects of how the Fed operates, including how it communicates with the market, uses its balance sheet, and potentially even its view of inflation.

Brown Advisory, an investment management company, released its "Brown Large-Cap Growth Strategy" for the first-quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter is available to download here. The Brown Advisory Large-Cap Growth Strategy experienced a decline in the first quarter of 2026, modestly trailing the Russell 1000 Growth Index. Despite negative absolute returns amidst volatility, relative performance improved significantly as the quarter progressed. Initial pressures stemmed from weaknesses in the software sector, affected by concerns over AI disrupting traditional models. Conversely, sectors like Industrials and Consumer Discretionary positively contributed to performance, while Information Technology and Health Care were the largest detractors. The strategy's ability to outperform in a down market indicates the quality of holdings. As market leadership broadens, the firm's focus remains on maintaining a diversified portfolio of high-quality growth companies, aiming for strong long-term results. Please review the Strategy's top five holdings to gain insights into their key selections for 2026.

Eli Lilly (NYSE: LLY) is basically hitting it out of the park right now. Sales of its industry-leading GLP-1 weight-loss drugs Mounjaro and Zepbound rose 125% and 80%, respectively, in the first quarter of 2026, driving a huge 56% sales gain for the drug giant. There's a reason why the stock is up more than 400% over the past five years.
There's just one small problem for dividend investors: Eli Lilly's dividend yield is a tiny 0.6%. That's well below the S&P 500 index's (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) roughly 1% yield and the average drug stock's 1.6%. Eli Lilly competitor Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) has a 6.6% yield, which is more than 10x higher! Is it the better dividend stock?

While Eli Lilly is hitting on all cylinders today, Pfizer is not. That's why the pharmaceutical giant's stock is down 30% over the past five years and nearly 60% from the high it reached in late 2021. There are a couple of problems worth noting.
First, Pfizer was one of the companies that quickly created a COVID vaccine during the coronavirus pandemic. Sales of COVID vaccines haven't lived up to expectations now that the world has basically learned to live with the illness. In addition, Pfizer has a number of highly profitable drugs set to lose patent protection over the next couple of years. Oncology drug Ibrance will lose patent protection in 2027, with cardiovascular drugs Eliquis and Vyndaqel getting hit the following year.

The Teamsters unanimously passed a resolution at its international convention in Las Vegas this week instructing leadership to challenge United Parcel Service for violating the 2023 collective bargaining agreement by outsourcing delivery work to nonunion subcontractors, marking the latest effort to constrain the employer's freedom to cut costs and reorganize operations.
The union represent about 330,000 UPS workers, including about 100,000 delivery van and truck drivers.
The campaign to target UPS (NYSE: UPS) subsidiary Roadie is part of a broader effort to contest a series of alleged contract violations by UPS, the union said in a post on X. The union claims the 2023 contract prohibits UPS from funneling tasks that are the sole domain of union workers to companies that use gig workers.
In November, the Teamsters publicly complained on social media that UPS was improperly diverting parcel deliveries to Roadie, which relies on lower-paid gig workers for final-mile delivery. Officials said Roadie uses UPS labels, tracking and equipment, proving Roadie is taking work from Teamster drivers.
"Over the past four years, UPS has been scaling Roadie's operations nationwide. Dozens of Roadie distribution centers and cross-dock facilities have popped up. UPS wants more individual users on the Roadie app because the package giant is desperate to weaken the leverage, power, and solidarity of its existing Teamsters workforce," the Teamsters claimed in its "Just Cause" Substack column in January.
