Dire warnings on AI from the CEOs of Anthropic (ANTH.PVT) and OpenAI (OPAI.PVT) could weigh especially heavily on the business of CoreWeave if the tech is reined in.
"The most exposed name in our coverage is CoreWeave," Bernstein ******* yst Madison Rezaei wrote in a note on Monday. "We estimate that 25% of their existing active U.S. power, with an additional ~74% of their contracted power, is situated in Tier 3 and Tier 4 markets. The backlog is primarily comprised of take-or-pay contracts, so we do not anticipate a threat there, but could see a pullback in demand for the contracted, not-yet-sold rural power if training development slows."
CoreWeave shares fell nearly 7% in premarket trading, one of the worst slides in the AI stock patch on the fresh CEO warnings.
Within the course of two days, AI ******* ans at Anthropic (ANTH.PVT), CEO Dario Amodei, and OpenAI (OPAI.PVT), CEO Sam Altman, have managed to scare the ******* out of the human race with the powerful technology they created and pushed their teams full of pioneering super-coders to supercharge.
"Over the last few months, I have become convinced that fully addressing the risks requires even more prudence — not just investing in risk prevention, but pacing the rate of capabilities advancement so that risk prevention has time to keep up," Amodei stated in a 3,800-word essay on Saturday. "We must slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of A.I. models. Progress will still seem fast, and we must make wise use of the time we gain."

Chanel shoppers are known to be a discerning bunch, but artist Tom Sachs has created an unauthorized replica of the luxury house's sought-after Paris boutique in lower Manhattan.
Located in Sachs' studio at 245 Centre Street, the phony Chanel store has a sign with 31 Rue Cambon on its front door, and a black Chanel-esque ensemble in one street-front window and a red one in the other. During a pass-by Monday night, the studio's security grates were down and a sign on the front door read, "NOTICE BY ENTERING YOU ARE TO BE RECORDED."
Media requests to Sachs were unreturned.
Although Sachs' outpost has a sign with what looks like a handwritten version of Chanel's proprietary interlocked "CC" monogram, the designer label has not been involved in the project in any way. A Chanel spokesperson said Thursday, "Chanel is not involved in this project, and we did not participate in its conception or development. This is not part of the cultural [programs] that Chanel supports around the world and has no affiliation with Chanel."
Scheduled to open Friday and to run through Oct. 10, Sachs' store will have highly limited access — with hours set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. The artist's body of work includes jabs at consumerism, materialism, logomania and high-low dressing. His Centre Street studio's new faux Chanel outpost is prismatic in a few ways, including the fact that his ****** e is a short walk to Canal Street where counterfeit goods are sold in abundance.
Sachs' faux boutique coincides with the $20 billion Chanel's accelerating growth and shoppers' fervor for fashion artistic director Matthieu Blazy's designs. Chanel hauls have gone viral, thanks to influencers like Elle Ferguson, who posted in March about traveling 30 hours to get the other Chanel bag of the season — the maxi flap bag in shearling. (She already had scored the mini rectangular bag in gold.) TikTokers like Mikayla Nogueira are sharing their much-coveted loot too with followers.
Asked about the potential impact of Sachs' project on Chanel, Luca Solca, global luxury goods ****** yst at Bernstein, said Thursday, "Imitation is the best form of flattery. This seems to confirm how powerful Chanel has grown into our collective perception."
The New York-based Sachs focuses on recreating modern icons with everyday objects like plywood, including Le Corbusier's 1952 Unite d'Habitation with foam core and a glue gun or variations of NASA's ****** ecraft like the Lunar Module. His unyielding tongue-in-cheek career narrative touches on craftsmanship, luxury and nihilism.
In 1998, his notoriety or fame rose with the creation of a Chanel-type guillotine. Along with Chanel, Sachs has also taken aim at Hermès with his art projects including his 2006 Tiffany Value Meal — a riff on McDonalds' "Happy Meal" in Tiffany & Co's signature blue with what appeared to be the company's logo. CNBC reported that NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA)'s Groq 3 LPX rack is in full production and will be deployed alongside its Vera CPUs and Rubin GPUs at neocloud Nebius later this year, Nvidia senior director Dion Harris told reporters.
The rack marks the commercialization of technology from Nvidia's $20 billion purchase of Groq's ***** ets in December, its largest deal on record. Each liquid-cooled rack packages 256 Groq chips. Nvidia said the rack can deliver 3,400 tokens per second, noting a benchmark from Artificial ***** ysis. Groq's chips are manufactured by Samsung, unlike Nvidia's own GPUs, which are made by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.
The $20 billion Groq deal represents a manageable financial risk for NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) relative to the strategic capabilities it could add to the company. Bernstein ***** yst Stacy Rasgon told CNBC that Nvidia is financially strong enough to absorb a deal of this size with little impact on its overall position. That gives Nvidia the flexibility to make large strategic investments while expanding into new AI chip technologies without materially straining its balance sheet.
Groq's technology extends Nvidia's dominance across the full AI compute stack rather than creating a rival product line. LPX handles low-latency inference while Nvidia's GPUs continue handling training and large-context processing. The rack can pair with Vera Rubin chips without customers changing their CUDA workflows, deepening the software lock-in that has made Nvidia hard to displace.
Execution has been fast, which matters in a market moving this quickly. Nvidia went from announcing the Groq purchase in December to full production and a named customer, Nebius, in eight months. It is a pace that shows Nvidia can absorb acquired technology and ship it rather than let it stall in integration.

The NFL had an offseason in which there was a record-tying 10 head coaching changes.
Next offseason might not see that many changes, but there will be some. NFL teams have become increasingly impatient and quick to change head coaches. There's even a notion that Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur, who has won 65.4% of his games and has just one losing season out of seven, could be on the hot seat if the Packers don't do well enough this season. Whether that comes to pass, it shows how tough of a profession it can be.
Here are the coaches on the hottest seats heading into the season:
Glenn was a candidate to be one and done after a very disheartening 3-14 season. Glenn stayed, but he replaced 12 of the 22 **** istants from last year's staff. That type of turnover is a clear indication that the head coach needs to show improvement the following season. If the Jets are as uncompetitive as they were in Glenn's first season, it seems likely that a change would be made. And the Jets have plenty of roster holes heading into the season.

On Aug. 30, Elon Musk tweeted that ***** eX (SPCX) will start casting its own gas turbine blades and vanes at a foundry in Texas. And when the richest man in the world makes a statement, the world takes notice. The market worried about the impact this could have on Howmet Aerospace (HWM), and its stock fell roughly 8% in a single trading session. The blades Musk wrote about sit in the hottest part of a turbine, and they are one of the main bottlenecks slowing down new power plants. Musk said building them in-house could bring turbines online up to 18 months sooner, feeding the power needs of ***** eX's AI data centers. Investors heard "new competitor" and sold. In my opinion, that may have been an overreaction.
The only reason ***** eX has to build its own foundry is that Howmet and the firms like it are sold out. Just four companies in the world cast these blades at scale, and together they control around 70% to 80% of the market. So several ***** ysts read the news as a sign of strength. Bernstein, which had lifted its price target to $328 just days earlier, called the selloff a buying opportunity. Citi and Jefferies pushed back too.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Says His $3.5 Billion MediaTek Deal Is 'Not Circular' Because 'They Do Their Own Business'

Bernstein expects Bitcoin (COIN:BTCUSD) to reach $300,000 by the end of 2029, with ***** yst Gautam Chhugani identifying the cryptocurrency as a major potential beneficiary of what he describes as the debasement trade.
The forecast ***** umes Bitcoin continues to broadly follow its historical four-year market cycle, with Bernstein also expecting the cryptocurrency to recover to a new record high of $150,000 by the middle of 2027.
"Following our price-to-marginal cost framework, we would expect the next market peak to be $300K by CY2029E and the market recovering to new all-time high of $150,000 by mid-2027E," Chhugani wrote in a note to clients.
Bernstein's longer-term Bitcoin outlook is partly based on its view that the four-decade period of declining interest rates has come to an end.
Governments are consequently facing higher debt-servicing costs at a time when sovereign debt levels have reached unprecedented levels, creating additional pressure on public finances.

The broader retail industry is moving beyond physical stores, with channels including e-Commerce, digital advertising, memberships, and convenience-led fulfillment tagged as critical growth drivers. Furthermore, scale and pricing are important, and consumers continue to emphasize value. Such trends are supporting Walmart Inc. (NASDAQ:WMT).
The company has been benefiting from businesses that are beyond its traditional physical-store retail operations. Its Q2 revenue saw an increase of 5.9% to reach $187.9 billion, with global e-Commerce sales increasing by 23% and advertising revenue jumping by 38%. Membership revenue also rose 17%. This gives the company several higher-growth businesses alongside its core stores.
Investors gave more weight to its profitability. The company's adjusted operating income went up by 17.4% in constant currency, and its gross margin expanded 96 bps. Walmart Inc. (NASDAQ:WMT) reported $19.7 billion in operating cash flow. However, its FCF fell to $5.5 billion.
On the positive side, the company increased its FY 2027 outlook to 4%-5% sales growth and 7%-8.5% adjusted operating income growth. This means that earnings might continue to grow faster than its revenue.
Bernstein ***** yst Zhihan Ma kept a "Buy" rating on Walmart Inc. (NASDAQ:WMT)'s stock and a price objective of $142. As per the ***** yst, the quarter ended at the high end of guidance. The ***** yst opines that softer US comparable sales were mainly aided by pharmacy-related factors rather than deterioration in the company's core business. Also, the ***** yst anticipates the combined Q2-Q3 period to result in approximately mid-single-digit sales growth and around 10% EBIT growth.

Bernstein ****** yst Gautam Chhugani has issued a bullish call on Bitcoin (BTC) amid institutional demand for the cryptocurrency and currency debasement.
Chhugani said he expects Bitcoin's price to reach approximately $125,000 by the end of 2026 under both base and bull cases.
Related: Coinbase CEO weighs leaving California over wealth tax

The ****** yst thinks Bitcoin will continue its historical four-year cycle, but soaring national debt ($40 trillion currently) and dollar debasement could even spark a Bitcoin rally to $200,000 by mid-2027 and $500,000 in 2029 in a bull case.

With the returning rally in the price of bitcoin (BTC-USD), comes the return of big calls on bitcoin by the Wall Street bulls.
Bernstein ***** yst Gautum Chhugani thinks bitcoin will notch several important price milestones over the next few years.
"In our base case, we expect bitcoin to reach new all-time high of $150K by mid-2027 and $300K by 2029 end. However, given the macro regime shift, if institutional capital actively chases bitcoin, we could see an accelerated timeline, with bitcoin potentially peaking at $500K in 2029 and rapid recovery to new all-time highs of ~$200K by mid-2027. We maintain our bitcoin price forecast of ~$1 M million by 2033 end across the base and bull case," Chhugani said in a note on Wednesday.
Bitcoin is having a price gusher to close out August.
The price of bitcoin broke through $80,000 early Tuesday for the first time in 15 weeks. In the last 10 days, bitcoin is up 25%.

Jason Goff has a new digital media home.
According to Chicago Sun-Times reporter Jeff Agrest, Goff will launch a podcast next Monday with 312 Sports, the Chicago platform anchored by Dan Bernstein and home to his shows Dan Bernstein Unfiltered and the Bears podcast Forward Progress.
The network also carries Organizations Win Championships and From the 50, rounding out a lineup built around local, opinion-heavy Chicago sports talk that will soon include Goff. What form his contribution takes with the Hubbard Radio-owned brand remains to be seen, given that Spotify likely retains ownership of his most recent podcast, The Full Go's IP and feed archive.
The Full Go Podcast launched in September 2021 and, over the next four-plus years, grew into one of The Ringer's most distinct voices on the NBA and sports culture at large. Goff hosted mostly solo, holding court on basketball, pop culture, and whatever else happened to be on his mind that day, building a show with its own identity rather than chasing the format of The Ringer's flagship NBA coverage or Bill Simmons' own feed.
That run ended after more than 600 episodes, Goff announced back in March.

The rally in Circle (CRCL) stock could just be starting.
The call: With bitcoin (BTC-USD) prices coming back to life as the Treasury injects liquidity into the bond market, Circle shares have been rocking. The stock is up 23% in the past five days and trading at its highest level since mid-June, per Yahoo Finance AlphaSpace data.
Bernstein ***** yst Gautam Chhugani reiterated his Outperform rating on the stock and set a $140 price target in a note on Monday, implying at least 75% upside.

The last time Maryland men's soccer stepped foot on Ludwig Field was to take on the Washington Huskies in the quarterfinals of the College Cup. The Terps left in disbelief after suffering a shocking 3-1 defeat on their home turf that abruptly ended their season.
Maryland men's soccer looked to flush the bad taste out of their mouth in their home opener against the New Haven Chargers Monday, and it did so in a wild 3-2 victory.
Following a steady 45 minutes of play from the Chargers, the Terps found themselves down one after a turbulent first half. In the second half, both teams came out firing on all cylinders by scoring a combined four goals in the span of six minutes.
Henry Bernstein scored the Terps' first goal in the 51st minute off a wild deflection that bounced off the Chargers' Felipe Lemos and into the net, tying the game at one. Less than two minutes later, Dominic Ayella scored his first goal for Maryland off a perfect cross from Dennis Kalanzi.
The freshman duo gave the Terps their first lead of the game, but it was short-lived, as the Chargers drew a corner and scored in the 56th minute. Lorenzo Garbarino soared into the box and placed a well located header on a spinning ball that found the back of the net.

Chad Dillard of Bernstein said in a recent program on CNBC that Quanta Services (NYSE:PWR) is an "800-pound gorilla" in high-voltage transmission lines. He was responding to a CNBC host who asked him to discuss "AI plays in disguise" beyond the major names everyone is aware of.
"I think we need to focus on what the bottlenecks are, right? It's power and labor," Dillard said. "On the power side, like you just said, you know, Caterpillar, it's an obvious one, power generation. But there's also another way to improve power, and that's by raising the voltage. And I'm talking about high voltage transmission lines. I'm talking about raising the voltage in data centers. ( Quanta Services) They're an 800-lb gorilla basically in the room."
Quanta Services (NYSE:PWR) can benefit from the coming wave of AI-related power demand because it's one of the few companies big enough to do the actual building when utilities spend money to expand and upgrade the grid. Quanta makes money by constructing the power lines, substations, and grid infrastructure the US needs, work that puts it right in the middle of the buildout.
In the recent quarter, revenue jumped about 40% year over year, and the company raised its full-year guidance for revenue, earnings per share, and cash flow.
Bulls also point to Quanta's recent acquisitions: Phalcon, Enerfab, Percheron, and PSD. Quanta expects these deals to add roughly 3 to 4% to its revenue in 2026. The bull case is that these purchases add skilled workers, fabrication capacity, and permitting support, giving Quanta more control over the bottlenecks that slow projects down.

Following a strong 2025 season fueled by a veteran and versatile roster, Maryland men's soccer entered the 2026 season with questions surrounding which of its 14 newcomers would step up.
That question was answered emphatically by freshman Said El Eyssami, who found nylon twice in the Terps' 2-1 opening victory against the Pittsburgh Panthers Thursday night.
"He's a special talent," head coach Sasho Cirovski said. "He's got a nose for the goal."
The first goal came in the 11th minute when El Eyssami received a feed from Henry Bernstein that led him into open **** e at the top of the box. The Panama native delivered a precise shot with his left foot into the bottom right corner of the net, past the outstretched hand of Pitt goalie Jack Moxom.
Bernstein and El Eyssami connected once more just after halftime. A midfield run from Bernstein ended with another perfect pass to set up El Eyssami one-on-one with the keeper. The freshman accelerated past his defender and placed his shot off the inside of the right post, which careened left and in to extend the Terps' lead to two.
