Although training camp is back and the New Orleans Saints are finally on the field again, the business side of football always tends to creep in. While most were worried about rookie Jordyn Tyson's availability for drills, which turned out to be full participation, maybe some attention should have been put on Chris Olave's contract.
Yesterday, in Saints General manager Mickey Loomis' press conference with Saints media, he spoke on the contract talks and had nothing negative to say. Olave was good to go for training camp, and his presence was never in question, but on the first day, he did sit out team drills due to the contract situation.
Contract situations like these can often cause issues, but this one may be different. While other players around the NFL are fully sitting out, Olave just chose not to participate in team drills. This is similar to what Alvin Kamara did a few years ago when he was looking for a new contract, and it never caused issues. Instead of holding out, Olave is holding in, so he is still a participant, just not fully.

The talent leaps off the screen, but he's not a cheap pick like he was last year.
I often have a soft spot for veteran players who command a boring discount, but I can't quite commit to DK Metcalf this year. He's entering his age-29 season and his yards per target has fallen the last two years. More importantly, the Steelers brought Aaron Rodgers back for his age-43 season – so we have to be muted with our expectations about this team's pace and passing volume. For all of Metcalf's talent, he'll probably miss out on 1,000 yards for the third straight season.
We think of the Bengals as a carnival team (fun offense, leaky defense) and that means it's a blast to invest in the passing game. But save some room for Chase Brown, too. Brown is coming off an RB8 season (despite Joe Burrow missing nine games) and there's little on the depth chart after Brown. And while Brown is a capable runner, his receiving chops (69-437-5 last year) keep him in the field in all packages. Brown makes a lot of sense as a mid-second-round pick.

Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons is making good progress in his rehab from a torn ACL, but it continues to sound like he will not be ready to play at the start of the season.
While General Manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters that he's open to the possibility of Parsons coming off the active/physically unable to perform list before the end of training camp, it doesn't seem like that's going to happen.
"Yeah, I'd like to have enough flexibility to leave the door open. But that would be unlikely, just from a timing perspective," Gutekunst said in his Wednesday press conference. "We've invested a lot in him, so we want to make sure he's ready to go before we even think about putting him out there."
That being said, Parsons has made plenty of progress since suffering the injury in December.
"I may have mentioned it before, but he's a little bit of a genetic freak, so things come pretty easy to him," Gutekunst said. "Again, he's still, obviously, got a long ways to go. These are major injuries, so as you go through these things and how hard they have to work to get back, there's always going to be little setbacks here and there. But he's doing great right now."

Although Saquon Barkley clearly leads the Eagles' backfield, Tank Bigsby is poised to take a huge leap in his fourth NFL season. Here's why fantasy managers should reach early for the handcuff.
There is room on this team for both Barkley and Bigsby to thrive, at least relatively speaking. Barkley has had 288+ regular-season touches in four straight seasons. He's still the workhorse, and last year's letdown was predictable (as discussed last summer) given his massive 2024 workload.
Bigsby's RB55 ADP (down from RB52 three weeks ago) reflects the fantasy market's uncertainty about his usage. After earning only 61 touches last year, he's ranked behind Dylan Sampson (RB51), Isiah Pacheco (RB52), Keaton Mitchell (RB53), Emmett Johnson (RB54), and many other second- and third-stringers.
It doesn't make sense. He was among the league leaders with 3.1 yards-after-first-contact on 63 rushing attempts. He didn't get his first snap in Philly until Week 7 and frequently outplayed Barkley while running behind the same offensive line. I don't think the Eagles will overwork Barkley. 300-325 touches seems realistic. That would open the door to at least 100, or even 125, touches for Bigsby.
Volume-wise, that would probably put him in the top 50, possibly the top 45. And if Barkley is ever sidelined, Bigsby would have top-20 appeal in a plus offense.

De'Zhaun Stribling has been one of my favorite fantasy rookie wideouts, despite the fact that he started the summer behind Mike Evans, Ricky Pearsall, and Christian Kirk on the depth chart. Now Kirk is hurt. A strong camp would make Stribling one of fantasy's biggest bargains.
When the Niners selected Stribling with the first pick in the second round of this year's draft, they were investing in a potentially NFL-ready wideout. But why? Aren't they deep at receiver with Evans, Pearsall, and Kirk, along with TE George Kittle and monster pass-catching RB Christian McCaffrey? But most of these guys are on the verge of post-prime. McCaffrey is 30. Kittle and Evans are entering their age-33 seasons. Kirk will turn 30 in November.
All four -- plus Pearsall -- are sub-par on the durability scale. It would be farfetched to think that Stribling won't earn starts. Kirk has been the most likely domino to fall, as he's been frequently injured and in decline these past two years. Now that he's injured, the door is open for Stribling to seize a Week 1 starting role.
Three weeks ago, Stribling's ADP was WR68. Now it's somehow 100. The market has forgotten about him. Savvy managers shouldn't.

Colchester United manager Danny Cowley has said "recruitment is really tough at the moment" after his side were beaten 2-0 by Charlton Athletic in a pre-season friendly.
First-half goals from Matty Godden and Karlan Grant secured the victory for the Championship club, but after the match Cowley was happy with his side's performance.
"We didn't plan the pre-season to be easy, that's why we've played Norwich, West Ham twice, Peterborough, Charlton - so we always understood that it was going to be tough for the players. That's how we like it," Cowley told BBC Essex.
"Off the back of the goals, I was really pleased with how the team responded. Recruitment is really tough at the moment, there's no hiding place from that.
"We know what we want. We're not willing to compromise at the moment but we are trying to stay as brave as we can to get the players that we want.

The NCAA ruled that San Francisco Giants manager Tony Vitello committed a minor infraction as Tennessee baseball coach in 2022, according to an athletics department document obtained by Knox News through a public records request.
It's a belated decision.
Vitello left UT to become the Giants manager in October 2025. And the violation was committed during his recruitment of Kansas transfer shortstop Maui Ahuna, who now plays for the Giants' Double-A team in Richmond, Virginia.
This was the second violation reported that involved Vitello and Ahuna. The first appeared on a 2022 report, which found that UT booked a flight for Ahuna's recruiting visit before receiving his academic transcript.
The combination of the two violations led to Vitello's three-game suspension in the 2023 season and Ahuna missing eight games before he was ruled eligible.

The USMNT head coach is "close" to finalizing a deal with the USMNT that would keep him under contract through the 2030 World Cup, according to The Athletic.

According to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Panthers are bringing in free-agent quarterback Kyle Trask for a workout on Wednesday.

So before his seven-year-old show, On Purpose, relaunched this month on Netflix, the 38-year-old self-help guru says he spent around $500,000 to renovate the ****** e with specific colors and custom artwork (such asincluding a piece of glass covered in bubble wrap) to evoke the kind of vulnerability and fragility he hopes to encourage from his guests.
Sitting inside his sprawling Hollywood Hills home, worth an estimated $8 million, Shetty's digs are a far cry from the Hindu monk principles of humble detachment he once practiced and has encouraged to display. But for a star in media's hottest category—who recently signed a new podcast deal with Spotify and Netflix that will pay him a combined $100 million over the next three years—the studio and residence are fitting.
"I mean, I'm not a monk anymore," Shetty tells Forbes. "Today I consider myself an entrepreneur and a leader in this ****** e, and that allows me to have the ability to use money as a resource to do good in the world and create impact in the way that we've chosen to do that."
For top podcasters like Shetty, the money has also never been better. The entry of video platforms such as Netflix, Hulu and Tubi into a still-frothy marketplace of audio distributors (including Spotify, SiriusXM and Amazon) have pushed paydays into territory once reserved for movie stars. Weird things happen when the Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres get together, and tonight's game was one of many such occasions in the history of this rivalry. The first of two in San Diego had it all. Terrible defense, many different pitchers, chair interference, multiple ejections from the Padres' bench—including manager Craig Stammen—and finally a walk-off loss after more than three hours.

Before players hit the practice field on Wednesday, general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn met with the media to preview camp and discuss other topics surrounding the team. Last week, the Commanders made some moves, placing cornerback Trey Amos, edge rusher Dorance Armstrong and defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.
Peters was asked about Amos, who suffered a fractured fibula in Week 10 last season.
"Yeah, I think with Trey, he's doing really well," Peters said. "I think the first thing I'll say is he's been outstanding in his rehab and really, you know, taken all the things that the medical team has asked him to do and done really well. With him, just had a little soft tissue soreness in the offseason, so we wanted to just take it slow. So, he's actually doing really well right now. Just had a report on him earlier. He should be back soon as well. Just wanted to be overly cautious there, but he's doing great. He'll be back pretty soon."
