SpaceX's (SPCX) goal of turning its Starlink service into a major US mobile carrier is one step closer to becoming a reality.
On Wednesday, Qualcomm (QCOM) announced that ***** eX has selected its Dragonwing Cellular Infrastructure platforms to power Starlink Mobile's nationwide terrestrial 5G cellular network.
Starlink already has the largest satellite-based network, and the ground-based stations will allow it to better compete with AT&T (T), T-Mobile (TMUS), and Verizon (VZ).
Last month, the company announced an agreement to purchase licenses for 800 MHz spectrum.
"While Starlink Mobile's global 2 GHz mid-band spectrum will provide high-bandwidth capacity in the United States, this new low-band spectrum will provide a coverage layer that ensures Starlink Mobile's signal penetrates through obstacles, such as walls, and can provide service to customers' devices even when they are in buildings," the company said at the time.

Charlie Munger spent half a century lecturing investors on the psychology of their own mistakes. A month before he died, he admitted to one of the most common mistakes. Asked on the Acquired podcast how his investment in Hyundai had worked out, Munger said: "I lost money. Not much because I was stubborn. I held out until it got back to almost where I paid for it and then I sold it."
That sentence describes, almost word for word, the behavior behavioral economists call the disposition effect: the tendency to sell winners too early and hold losers too long, waiting for a stock to return to what you paid before letting it go. Hersh Shefrin and Meir Statman named it in 1985, and Terrance Odean documented it across thousands of retail brokerage accounts in a 1998 Journal of Finance paper. It is the mistake Munger's famous 1995 talk on the psychology of human misjudgment was written to help people avoid. Here he was, at 99, saying he had made it with his own money.

SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX) reached a major milestone in its rocket-launching business recently, when the massive Starship reached orbit for the first time and deployed 26 Starlink satellites.
To be sure, it didn't go perfectly. An engine shut down during the ascent, and splashdown occurred three hours into a mission scheduled for 10. Even so, it's quite a milestone.
Missed AI's "Act 1"? Act 2 Could Be 14x Bigger. Most investors think they missed the AI boat because they didn't buy Nvidia in 2005. But according to our ***** ysts, we're only at the end of "Act 1"—the R&D phase. "Act 2" is the global rollout. Continue »

SpaceX stock hasn't reacted much to the news, and still trades for about 30% below its post-IPO peak. But if you invest $1,000 into the ***** e, internet, and AI conglomerate today, what could it be worth by 2030?

Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) is increasingly confident it can reach a $100 billion annual revenue run rate by year-end. The company's CFO said there is now "even more conviction" around the target. A new AI hosting agreement worth $13 billion on an annualized basis adds significant support to that outlook and reflects how quickly ***** eX's compute business is scaling. But the financial picture behind that growth is less straightforward. The same AI division that management is relying on to help reach that target posted a $1.3 billion loss in the latest quarter alone. The loss wiped out what would have otherwise been a profitable quarter, while the company generated roughly negative $25 billion in free cash flow during the first half of 2026.
CFO Bret Johnsen said ***** eX has "even more conviction" that it can reach a $100 billion annual revenue run rate. The outlook is supported by a newly signed AI hosting agreement worth $1.11 billion per month beginning in December, or roughly $13 billion on an annualized basis. The company plans to end the year with a little over 2 gigawatts of terrestrial AI-computing capacity and scale to between 5 and 10 gigawatts in 2027. Orbital computing remains a longer-term option for overcoming power constraints. Its current agreements include a $6.7 billion cloud-services contract that is scheduled to ramp up in October. Existing arrangements with Google and Anthropic are worth more than $2 billion per month combined. Reaching the $100 billion target would require monthly revenue to more than triple from second-quarter's pace.
SpaceX's rocket and Starlink businesses generated roughly $1.1 billion in combined operating income in the second quarter. But the AI division's $1.3 billion loss more than wiped out that profit. The company also generated roughly negative $25 billion in free cash flow during the first half of 2026. The stock declined more than 5% after the second-quarter results despite a revenue beat.
The AI contract pipeline is clearly expanding and gaining momentum. However, the $100 billion target is a revenue run-rate measure rather than a profitability target. At the same time, the division driving this expansion remains the company's largest contributor to both both operating losses and capital spending, making the growth opportunity financially costly for now.
SpaceX had 119 hedge funds among its institutional holders at the end of the second quarter of fiscal 2026. Meanwhile, short interest stood at just 2.76% of float as of August 31, 2026. The ownership and the short interest figures show that institutional sentiment remains broadly constructive and toward the company's long-term outlook.

Elon Musk is getting serious about putting artificial intelligence (AI) into orbit. The ***** eX (SPCX) CEO is reportedly confident the company can launch Nvidia (NVDA) powered AI systems into ***** e in 2027. ***** eX and Nvidia are working on a ***** e-optimized version of Nvidia's Vera Rubin NVL72 platform, and Musk says the system should be lighter, denser, and cheaper than a traditional data-center rack. That matters because ***** eX is trying to turn orbital computing into a major business, while Nvidia could gain another market for its AI hardware.
The opportunity is much bigger than a headline. ***** eX could eventually sell computing capacity from satellites just as it sells broadband through Starlink. Meanwhile, Nvidia could supply the chips behind that infrastructure. Investors should still remember that this is an emerging business, and commercial scale is not expected immediately. Still, the plan gives both companies another way to capitalize on the AI spending boom.

SPCX trades at $151.89, up 5.86%, as Musk claims next-gen V3 satellites will push Starlink's total bandwidth 100x above today's levels.
Musk argues that even if revenue per bit drops tenfold, the V3 upgrade still produces a 10x increase in Starlink's total revenue.
Starlink's ARPU has already fallen from $85 to $66, and roughly 1,000 V3 satellites must launch before service meaningfully improves, expected Q2 next year.

Alluvium ****** et Management, an ****** et management company, released its "Conventum – Alluvium Global Fund" second-quarter 2026 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. The second quarter reflected a sharp shift from geopolitical uncertainty and oil market volatility to a powerful equity rally led by semiconductor companies. Despite the broader market strength, the Fund declined 1.4% in EUR terms, 2.2% in USD terms, and 3.9% in AUD terms. Portfolio results were mixed, with Alphabet benefiting from strong Cloud growth, while Robert Half, H&R Block and other holdings posted solid gains. However, cable businesses and several healthcare and consumer holdings weighed on performance. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Conventum – Alluvium Global Fund highlighted Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR). Charter Communications, Inc. Conventum – Alluvium Global Fund stated the following regarding Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR) and its tracking stock Liberty Broadband fell 34.1% and 33.7% following the release of Charter's results in April. It seems the market is understandably concerned with the average revenue per user (ARPU) being flat, and the continual loss of internet customers. Competition is intense from both fixed wireless providers and low earth orbit satellite (Starlink). Compared to Charter's cables, these are higher cost and more capacity constrained. Charter's flat ARPU is the result of its decision to provide a demonstrably better offering at a low price - so why is it losing so many internet customers? We do not know the answer. We do know though that it is growing its mobile subscribers at a much faster rate than it is losing its internet customers, and more than half of its residential customers subscribe to more than one product. We also see positives stemming from the pending ****** acquisition, and indeed management increased expected synergies by 60%. SpaceX must pull off rocket reusability if the company is to reach a stratospheric market valuation in the not-too-distant future.

"In the end, investors are debating xAI, Colossus, and Starlink take-rates," Wlodarczak added. "Those matter only after Starship works. If it is not, SPCX is a different and much smaller company."

Bloomberg reported that Elon Musk said ****** e Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) first AI satellites, powered exclusively by NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) chips, will launch in the fourth quarter of 2027 and reach "significant scale" in 2028, citing a post on X. Musk wrote "SpaceX, in partnership with Nvidia, has designed a ****** e-optimized Vera Rubin NVL72 system for launch to orbit in Q4 next year," describing the satellite data center as "significantly simpler, lower cost, denser, and lighter than a traditional rack."
The timeline has moved up twice since ****** eX's May IPO prospectus, which targeted "as early as 2028," and Musk's August 4 earnings call comments, which said launches would begin "next year." ****** eX COO Gwynne Shotwell told CNBC ahead of the IPO that the firm has already struck deals with Anthropic and Google to rent out orbital compute capacity.
The timeline is moving earlier, not later, which is unusual for a ****** e infrastructure project. ****** e Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) pulled its target forward from as early as 2028 in its IPO prospectus to a specific Q4 2027 date within a few months. The acceleration shows ****** eX believes development is progressing faster than previously expected and could bring orbital computing revenue online sooner than investors initially anticipated.
Real customers have already committed before ****** eX launches a single satellite. ****** eX President Gwynne Shotwell told CNBC that the company has struck deals with Anthropic and Google to rent orbital compute capacity. It shows that major AI companies already see potential value in the technology. Those early commitments could reduce demand risk if ****** eX delivers the planned capacity.
Wall Street sees a large long-term opportunity if the technology works as described. Space Exploration Technologies (NASDAQ: SPCX), known as ******* eX, is ready to explore the cosmos. At least that's what CEO Elon Musk wants investors to understand.

In its S-1 filing for its IPO, Elon Musk's ******* eX (SPCX) had earmarked a market opportunity of $28 trillion. Out of this, the company, most popularly known for its rockets and Starlink broadband services, attributed more than 90% of this opportunity to AI. Some skeptics raised concerns; however, there was no stopping Musk as the company's data center buildout continues in full swing, and compute deals with the likes of Alphabet's (GOOGL) (GOOG) Google and Anthropic give ******* eX the much-needed AI street cred.

Napco Security Technologies (NASDAQ:NSSC) held its fiscal fourth quarter 2026 earnings call on August 24, and the numbers it reported were close to a best-case scenario in the company's own history. Net revenue hit a quarterly record of $55.8 million, full-year revenue crossed the $200 million mark for the first time, and the company raised its dividend while sitting on $138 million in cash and zero debt. Buried in the same call, though, is a $16 million litigation charge still working its way through the income statement.
The engine under all of this is Napco's StarLink radio business, which reports monitoring fees the way a cable company reports subscriptions. Recurring service revenue reached $25.3 million in the quarter, up 12.9%, and carried a gross margin of 90.1%. Based on July 2026 activity, the company said its annualized recurring revenue run rate is now around $103 million. Starlink radio sales grew 40% year over year and 30% sequentially in the quarter, which CEO Kevin S. Buchel called one of the highest growth rates in company history, adding, "Radio sold today becomes recurring revenue tomorrow." That growth has a long runway attached, since Buchel said the shift away from copper phone lines will keep running until the end of the decade across more than 2 million buildings still needing to switch to cellular communicators.
The rest of the business held up its end too. Intrusion and access control sales rose 20.9% in the quarter, powered by a 35.8% jump in intrusion products including StarLink radios, and door locking revenue climbed 11.1% for the full year on a 19.7% increase in Alarm Lock sales. Adjusted EBITDA for the quarter grew 44.3% to $20.6 million, and full-year non-GAAP diluted EPS rose 34.5% to $1.60. Free cash flow reached $59.2 million for the year, funding a dividend increase to $0.17 per share, a 13.3% raise payable Oct. 2, 2026, while the balance sheet carried $138 million in cash and marketable securities as of June 30, 2026, and no debt at all.
The headline profit numbers hide a rougher full-year picture in one spot. A $16 million litigation settlement recorded in the fiscal third quarter pulled full-year operating income down 1.3% to $45.6 million, even though quarterly operating income jumped 52.5%. Some of the quarter's gross margin expansion to 61.3% also came from a source that will not repeat indefinitely, since about 600 basis points of it was tariff refunds tied to the American Infrastructure and Industrial Power Act. CFO Andrew J. Vuono also flagged that data center expansion is pushing up the cost of electronic parts, even as the company says it can still ship on time.

At first blush, there's nothing connecting the businesses of **** e Exploration Technology (NASDAQ: SPCX) and Hershey (NYSE: HSY). One makes **** ecraft, AI technology, and operates the Starlink satellite telecommunications network. The other makes candy bars. But when you dig into the ownership structure, you start to see the connection. Here's what you can learn about **** eX from Hershey.
The CEO is likely to have the most influence on a business, but there are limitations. That's because the CEO actually works for the board of directors. And the board of directors is hired by the shareholders. So, if anything really big is going to take place, such as a merger or acquisition, the largest shareholders will have an important say. In the case of consumer staples maker Hershey, the largest shareholder is The Hershey Foundation.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
The Hershey Foundation has said no to multiple takeover offers. The foundation uses the dividends it collects from owning Hershey stock to support its philanthropic endeavors, so it is acting to protect the reliable income stream it receives. That may or may not be in the best interest of shareholders, noting that a buyout could lead to a sizable capital gain. But the real takeaway is that Hershey is beholden to The Hershey Foundation in important ways, as the foundation controls 80% of the company's voting power.
Elon Musk controls 48.4% of **** eX's voting power. That's not as much control as The Hershey Foundation has at Hershey, but it is close enough to 50.1% to give him effective control over all decisions. Add in that he's the CEO, and Musk's position of power gets even stronger. If you own **** eX, you are effectively investing alongside Elon Musk. What he wants to do is almost certainly going to get done. Mergers, acquisitions, and major capital investments are his to decide because it would be hard, if not impossible, for the board or shareholders to muster the votes needed to oppose Musk.

AT&T (NYSE: T) is part of a cellphone oligopoly in the United States. Essentially, the telecom giant and its main competitors dominate the sector, making it difficult for a newcomer to break in. However, that hasn't stopped companies from trying, including cable operators offering bundled services and, perhaps, even **** e Exploration Corporation's (NASDAQ: SPCX) Starlink. Here's how investors should view AT&T's ability to maintain its well-above-market 4.4% dividend yield as more companies try to break into the lucrative cellphone market.
The first thing to consider when looking at AT&T's business is the competitive landscape. It has always been intense, as the members of the cellphone oligopoly fight tooth and nail for market share. There's a good reason for that, however: customer revenues tend to be annuity-like. That provides a solid foundation for paying the dividend. And while the involvement of cable companies and **** eX increases competition, AT&T should be able to hold its own as a business.

That big picture view of the situation, however, doesn't mean it will be able to continue paying its dividend at the current level. Most investors **** sing dividend support will look to the payout ratio to determine whether the company can continue paying nearly $2 billion in dividends each quarter. The 36% trailing 12-month payout ratio suggests the answer is yes.
But that $2 billion in dividends number came from the cash flow statement, not the income statement, where earnings live. This is because earnings aren't what pay the dividend; cash flow is. When you compare the dividend to cash flow, using the cash dividend payout ratio, you get a slightly lower coverage rate of 45%. That, however, still looks like ample coverage.

Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) beat Wall Street's revenue estimates in its first earnings report since its record June IPO. The stock still fell as much as 8% in extended trading anyway, as capital expenditures soared past what ******* ysts expected.

Musk also pledged that ******* eX would build its AI data centers exclusively with Nvidia chips. NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) shares rose about 2% on the news even as ******* eX's own stock fell.

Comcast has attached a new service to its Xfinity internet plans as it faces mounting customer losses.
The company revealed in its most recent earnings report that it lost 167,000 U.S. broadband customers in the second quarter of this year. Also, its revenue in this segment dropped by 5.5% year over year.

"We are operating under the ******* umption that the market will remain intensely competitive."
To help attract and retain internet customers, Comcast has launched its new Xfinity Shield platform, which offers two new tiers of advanced cybersecurity and home self-monitoring protection that can be added to internet plans, according to a recent press release.

However, its total capex surged more than sixfold year over year, from $2.83 billion to $18.37 billion. It allocated $15.8 billion of that capex to expanding its AI business. Let's see where all that money went.

But in Feb. 2026, it acquired xAI -- which owns Grok, X, and its other AI **** ets -- in an all-stock transaction to form its new AI business. It also acquired the AI start-up Cursor earlier this month. Elon Musk believes its AI revenue will jump from $3.5 billion in 2025 to $700-$750 billion in 2030.
To sow the seeds for that expansion, **** eX spent most of its second-quarter capex on Nvidia's (NASDAQ: NVDA) data center GPUs and other AI accelerators. The rest was used to deploy, acquire, and build more high-power data centers to increase its active capacity from 1.4 GW today to its target of 10 GW by next year.
That would give it a lot more bandwidth to handle its multi-billion-dollar compute hosting contracts with external enterprise clients. However, the expansion of that unprofitable AI business could offset Starlink's profits and keep its bottom line in the red.

SpaceX (SPCX) has quickly become one of the world's most valuable public companies, but investors buying its shares are not getting the same influence over the business that they would at most large corporations. Elon Musk owns a 48.4% economic stake in **** eX, yet the company's dual-class share structure gives him more than 82% of its voting power. In practical terms, that leaves **** eX's founder and CEO with overwhelming control over major corporate decisions.
For shareholders, that concentration of power cuts both ways. Musk has made clear that he wants **** eX to remain focused on long-term projects, from expanding Starlink and scaling its AI business to pursuing ambitions on the Moon and Mars. Retail investors were steadfast for nearly eight weeks after ******* e Exploration Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX) went public. Despite a 67% post-IPO rise, a sharp return to earth, and a stock that spent weeks trading below its debut price, mom-and-pop traders continued to buy. On August 7, that streak was finally broken.
According to data quoted by Reuters, individual investors sold a net $4.5 million in ******* e Exploration Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX) shares on August 7, marking the first day of net negative retail flows since the company's stock market debut on June 12. The timing is what makes the transition interesting. Just two days earlier, on August 5, ******* eX shares fell 13.6% following the company's first quarterly financial report as a publicly traded company, and retail investors responded by buying heavily, marking the fourth-largest single day of net retail purchases since the IPO. That earnings announcement was a mixed bag: ******* eX highlighted faster-than-expected returns from its AI infrastructure spending, though investors were concerned about how long the company's thriving Starlink satellite-internet operation would be able to fund those costly AI ambitions.
While Wall Street expressed concern about Starlink's financial flows supporting long-term AI objectives, Morgan Stanley ******* yst Adam Jonas reiterated an Overweight rating and a $300 price target on ******* e Exploration Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX). Jonas claimed that public markets undervalue ******* eX's broader AI ecosystem, citing early synergies between Grok and the Cursor as evidence of a combined real-time data, compute, and intelligence platform.
So the trend went as follows: stock plummets on earnings-day AI expenditure fears, retail buys the dip heavily, and then sells when the stock recovers to its IPO price. Sam North, an eToro market ******* yst, described the sequencing as telling. He observed that a shift from persistent buying to selling is rarely due to a single event, but rather to a combination of profit-taking, position fatigue, and investors reevaluating risk-reward. He said that the sale on August 7 appeared to be retail taking advantage of a share price rebound to take some money off the table, instead of a panicked withdrawal.
None of this indicates that retailers have abandoned ******* e Exploration Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX). The stock was still up around 2.4% in premarket trading on August 10 following the selling milestone, and one day of moderately negative flows after nearly two months of feverish buying is hardly a disaster. That said, for a company whose short public life has been defined almost completely by retail conviction outlasting institutional skepticism, the first break in that conviction, no matter how little, is worth monitoring.

Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) shares made headlines recently after the company's AI division saw a series of high-profile departures.
Gene Munster, managing partner at Deepwater ****** et Management, recently said on CNBC that the brain drain at Google should not be ignored, arguing that the departures of key AI researchers could have implications beyond the headlines. Munster said Google has seen about six major departures over the past three months and that the loss of talent could affect the company's culture of innovation and its ability to develop future AI models. He also pointed to signs that Gemini has started to slip in AI model rankings relative to competitors. He thinks these developments are not a positive trend.
At the same time, Munster highlighted significant improvements from Grok, saying he expects the AI model to potentially break into the top three models as new versions are released. Grok was developed by xAI and is integrated into X, while xAI is now part of ****** eX following ****** eX's acquisition of the AI company.
The market is figuring out ****** eX isn't just a ****** e company. The ****** e business contributed just 12% of Q2 revenue and ****** ysts think the contribution of ****** e may keep shrinking as other streams kick in. Connectivity (Starlink) brought in $4.29 billion, up 66% year over year, with 12 million subscribers, double last year's count. AI brought in $2.56 billion, up 247% year over year, boosted by a big Anthropic deal.
Musk guided to a $100 billion annualized revenue run rate by December, up from a Q2 run rate near $31 billion. If ****** eX hits it, the stock trades at 14x that figure and looks reasonable. Bulls also point to Musk's math on AI: if ****** eX can push AI compute capacity from 1.4 GW today to 15 GW by end of 2027 at $50 million per megawatt, that's $750 billion in annual AI revenue potential.

Sands Capital, an investment management company, released its "Sands Capital Technology Innovators Fund" Q2 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. In the quarter, global equities rebounded sharply, with the MSCI ACWI posting its strongest quarterly gain since 2020, supported by broad market strength, easing geopolitical tensions, and continued enthusiasm for AI infrastructure. Information technology led the advance, with semiconductor and hardware companies accounting for most of the index's rise. The fund returned 26.9% (net) in the second quarter of 2026. The portfolio benefited from strong gains across memory, software infrastructure, cybersecurity, and other AI-related holdings, although its concentrated exposure to mega-cap chip designers and manufacturers weighed on relative performance as leadership broadened into CPUs, networking, and memory. Vertical software, internet, and financial holdings were modest detractors amid macro concerns and uncertainty over AI disruption. The fund remains focused on critical AI bottlenecks, including compute, memory, manufacturing, networking, and power, while retaining selected businesses that may use AI to strengthen their competitive positions. You can check the fund's top five holdings to learn more about its leading investment ideas for the year.

Semi ****** ysis argues ****** eX can build 10GW of compute by end 2027, implying a path to $300B in annual recurring revenue.

SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX) went public in June 2026 and has been the talk of the town ever since. Its first earnings report as a public company on August 4, 2026 should have set the mood. Revenue jumped 92% year over year to $7.81 billion, the AI segment revenue skyrocketed by 247%, and Starlink subscribers doubled year-over-year to 12.0 million. Instead, the conversation shifted immediately to Friday, August 6, when a 911.5 million share lockup expiration was poised to flood the market with insider stock.
