Jürgen Klopp are seriously considering naming a significantly expanded squad for Germany's four upcoming Nations League games.
Sky Germany understands that the idea behind said plan is to use the two weeks together to see as many players as possible.
The exact squad size has not yet been finalized, nor has it been determined whether there will be a player swap after the second match.
Accordingly, this could potentially divide the team into two groups – essentially each group would be ***** igned for two matches.
Klopp is theoretically allowed to take as many players as he wants, but must submit a list of 23 players before each match.

HSBC Holdings plc (NYSE:HSBC) is winding down its transaction services business in Germany, with more than 300 positions at HSBC Transaction Services GmbH and HSBC Service Company Germany GmbH expected to be phased out by 2028. The division provides securities processing, administration and custody services.
HSBC said the move is part of its broader strategy to strengthen its position in businesses where it has competitive advantages and sees stronger growth opportunities. The decision follows HSBC Germany's sale of its private banking business to BNP Paribas last year, highlighting the bank's continued effort to streamline its European operations.
Northfoto/Shutterstock.com
The biggest positive for HSBC Holdings plc (NYSE:HSBC) is that the German exit could improve the bank's efficiency and profitability over time. Rather than continuing to allocate capital and employees to a transaction-services operation that HSBC apparently sees as less strategically attractive, the bank can redirect resources toward areas where it has stronger competitive advantages. This fits CEO Georges Elhedery's broader restructuring strategy of reducing complexity, cutting costs and concentrating HSBC on businesses with better growth prospects. Reuters has reported that HSBC has already been selling non-core operations as part of this transformation, while its shares have risen substantially since the restructuring began.
The timing could also be constructive. Germany's economy remains under pressure, with industrial production falling unexpectedly in July and manufacturing activity still facing significant challenges. Reducing exposure to a business tied to the German market could therefore protect HSBC Holdings plc (NYSE:HSBC) from maintaining costs in an environment where growth is relatively weak.

Team USA will play for a fifth consecutive World Cup gold medal after escaping Spain, 76-66, in the semifinals on Saturday. They are now 6-0 all-time against Spain at the World Cup. The win secured a rematch against France, which defeated home country Germany, 86-64, earlier in the day.
The U.S. trailed by as many as eight early in the semifinal, but pulled out a win with an 18-8 fourth quarter led by veteran Breanna Stewart. Stewart will play in her fourth gold medal game, with the chance at a second World Cup MVP. She would become the first two-time winner of the award.
Here's what stood out from another close call (is the world coming, or is it already here?) and a lookahead to an enticing redo against France on Sunday (2 p.m. ET).
The USA needed someone to step up in another offensive slog. That nod went to Stewart, playing in her record-tying fourth World Cup and making it clear this is her team. A fourth gold medal would tie Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird, and add to a trophy case that includes four NCAA championships, three WNBA championships and three Olympic golds.

Big-serving Ben Shelton overpowered American compatriot Frances Tiafoe in four sets to reach the first Grand Slam final of his career at the US Open on Friday.
Eighth-seeded Shelton blasted 20 aces on his way to a thrilling 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 7-5 victory on the Arthur Ashe Stadium court that sends the 23-year-old into Sunday's championship match against top-seeded Alexander Zverev of Germany.
A pulsating all-American semi-final had seen both players vying to reach a Grand Slam final for the first time.
Shelton -- who took down defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals -- will now have the chance to become the first American man to win a Grand Slam ****** le since 2003, when Andy Roddick triumphed at the US Open.
Tiafoe got off to a bright start, claiming the first set after breaking when Shelton uncharacteristically double-faulted to trail at 5-4.

Union Berlin head coach Mauro **** rinelli acknowledged that his side's continued defensive problems extend well beyond one system or one centre-back partnership after Friday evening's 1-3 home defeat against Schalke 04. The result leaves Union with one point from their opening three Bundesliga fixtures and, considerably more concerningly, ten goals conceded.
Lustrinelli's side opened the campaign with a chaotic 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt before suffering a comprehensive 4-0 away defeat at Bayer Leverkusen last weekend. Schalke then became the third consecutive opponent to exploit a defensive unit still attempting to adjust to significant tactical and personnel changes.
"It's a lot of small things," **** rinelli told Sky Germany when asked about the ten goals conceded. "We're too undisciplined. We're not keeping up with the opponent. And the opponent profits. They exploit it. And we need too many chances to score goals. The two things are decisive over the course of 90 minutes."
The warning signs predate the Bundesliga campaign.
GGFN highlighted Union's defensive instability throughout preseason, with **** rinelli experimenting with multiple formations while attempting to move the club away from the three-centre-back structures that had defined the era of Urs Fischer and his successors.

Bayern Munich and SSV Ulm 1846 are continuing their partnership focused on developing the next generation of footballers.
The two clubs have extended their cooperation agreement for another year, meaning the partnership will now run through June 2027 per iMiaSanMia. Bayern Munich and Ulm have been working together in youth development since the beginning of 2021, with both clubs aiming to create better opportunities and pathways for young players.
The extension is another indication of Bayern Munich's continued focus on building relationships with clubs that can contribute to the development of young talent.
For SSV Ulm 1846, working alongside one of Germany's biggest clubs provides an opportunity to benefit from Bayern Munich's experience and expertise in youth football. For Bayern Munich, partnerships such as this can help strengthen its scouting and development network while identifying players with the potential to progress further.
The relationship has now lasted more than five years, and both clubs clearly see value in continuing it.

After four big wins in the quarterfinals, the United States, France, Spain, and Germany all earned their spots in the semifinals. Saturday's two matchups will be intense. Each team left in the competition can find its way to the finals. Let's take a look at the two semifinal games.
France has been putting up insane statistics during this tournament. Between breaking the single-game three-point record and heavily outscoring their opponents, it is safe to say they are the team to beat. However, this semifinal clash against Germany, who have home-court advantage, will be their biggest test of the tournament.
The good news for France is their depth. There are many strong players who have been coming off the bench and making an impact. One of those players is none other than Marine Johannès. Johannès ranks eighth in the tournament in points scored per game with 16.5. She is currently leading the tournament with 16 three-pointers made so far. Once again, Johannès is not starting in games and making a strong impact each time.

Meanwhile, starter Gabby Williams has been playing some of her best basketball in the World Cup. If she continues this strong play, France has a strong chance to make it into the finals.

With four points from three games, FC Schalke have made more than just a respectable start to this Bundesliga season.
A large part of that is down to goalkeeper Loris Karius, who delivered a superb performance both in the sensational 0-0 draw against Bayern Munich and in the 3-1 away win over Union Berlin. Schalke fans in particular are therefore calling for him to be nominated for the German national team on social media.
Karius was asked about that in a Sky interview after the Union match. The TV reporter wanted to know whether there had already been any contact with Germany coach Jürgen Klopp and how realistic he considered a call-up to the national team.
"No, there has been no contact," Karius replied. "I see it as neither realistic nor unrealistic. I'm not thinking about it."
Even so, the 33-year-old, who has repeatedly faced heavy criticism over the course of his career, admitted: "If people ***** ociate me with that, it's a huge compliment to my performance."

Team USA opened the knockout round and made World Cup history. Yet, its job in Berlin remains unfinished.
The Americans are one of the last four teams standing with a ticket to Sunday's gold-medal game now on the line.
Team USA faces Spain in Saturday's World Cup semifinals (2 p.m. ET) for a chance to advance to one last game. France and Germany face off in the other semifinal (10:30 a.m. ET). The two winners will move on to the gold medal game, while the two losers will play for third place.
The United States has advanced to the gold-medal game in each of the last four World Cups, winning it all each time. The last time the U.S. failed to make the gold-medal game was in 2006, when it defeated Brazil for bronze.

Drama seems to be following Michael La Sasso wherever he goes this summer.
A few weeks after his career breakthrough win at the LIV season finale in Indianapolis where he bested Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, the 22-year-old shot a final round 5-under 67 on Friday at Golf-und Country Club Seddiner See in Michendorf, Germany.
It was good enough to get the 2025 NCAA individual champion on the number to qualify at DP World Tour first-stage Qualifying School.
All of it was in jeopardy after a costly bogey on the par-3 11th hole.
La Sasso followed that up with a par on No. 12 and then birdied four of his six last holes to get to T-18 on the tournament.

Ezi Magbegor injury proves A'ja Wilson made the right FIBA World Cup decision originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
It must have been disappointing to many fans when, on the eve of the FIBA World Cup, USA Basketball announced that neither A'ja Wilson nor Kelsey Plum would be joining the team in Germany on its quest for a fifth successive gold medal.
For Plum, the choice was understandable. The All-Star guard has struggled with a calf injury for much of the season, and the Phoenix Mercury have shut her down for 2026 in response to the lingering pain she has felt.
For Wilson though? On its face, that choice was harder to understand.
But Wednesday's devastating injury to Australia and Seattle Storm center Ezi Magbegor proves that Wilson made the right move in sitting out the World Cup and focusing on the Olympics in 2028 instead.

BERLIN, Sept 11 (Reuters) - The likely leader of the eastern German state of Saxony-Anhalt, the far-right Alternative for Germany's Ulrich Siegmund, suggested a weapons producer could be allowed to ‌operate in the state to provide resources for his party's planned deportation campaigns.
The AfD, which ‌wants to restore ties with Russia and brands itself a "party of peace", opposes Germany's record defence spending under Chancellor Friedrich Merz and military support for Ukraine, raising questions about the future of a planned defence industry investment in the city of Sangerhausen.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Siegmund indicated the AfD was not opposed to arms production for domestic purposes when asked about the site.
"We do not condemn the production of military equipment ‌across the board, because we will naturally need the appropriate resources for future repatriation and deportation campaigns," he said.
"This is also in the interest of internal security, our own stability, and national defence," he added.

BERLIN (AP) — The Swiss federal intelligence service on Thursday published a 200-page dossier on the notorious ******* war criminal Josef Mengele, the German doctor known as the "Angel of Death" for conducting horrific medical experiments on prisoners at Auschwitz.
During World War II, Mengele served at the Auschwitz extermination camp in ******* -occupied Poland, where about 1.1 million people were killed, approximately 1 million of them Jews. He became infamous for carrying out brutal medical experiments on inmates, including children, under the guise of scientific research.
After the war, Mengele obtained a Red Cross travel document under a false identity, allowing him to leave Europe. Like many former ******* officials, he spent years in hiding in Latin America while being pursued internationally for his crimes. He drowned in 1979 while swimming on the coast of Brazil.
The documents released by Swiss authorities include material provided to police suggesting that Mengele may have returned to Switzerland after initially fleeing Germany, or may have been planning to enter the country under a false name, according to the German news agency dpa.
Historians seeking to establish whether Mengele spent time in Switzerland while being pursued as a war criminal, without Swiss authorities catching him, had long sought access to the files.

The Detroit Lions' trip to Munich is getting another layer of international attention.
The NFL announced Tuesday that Cage The Elephant will headline the halftime show when the Lions face the New England Patriots on Nov. 15 at FC Bayern Munich Arena. The game kicks off at 9:30 a.m. ET and will count as one of Detroit's designated home games.
The performance is part of what the NFL is calling a record seven halftime shows across its 2026 international schedule. In the league's official announcement, Cage The Elephant frontman Matt Shultz explained what the band expects from the Munich stage:
"We have played a lot of shows in Germany over the years and the crowds here have always given us everything they have. Playing a halftime show is a completely different animal, you get one shot in front of a stadium and a global audience, and you have to make every second count. We are going to bring the same energy we bring to our own shows and we cannot wait."
Cage The Elephant has won two Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album, accumulated more than 10 billion streams and produced 13 No. 1 records on Alternative radio.

Any sports lover would know "trash talk" is pretty much part of the game. In fact, some believe one has to master the art so as to add intensity and rivalry to the game. As Team USA continues its 2026 FIBA World Cup campaign in Berlin, Germany, they have already found their "trash-talking queen" in the squad.
Fans are already loving the fun little content they get to watch every day while Team USA tries to defend their ***** le at the FIBA World Cup. These moments show a very different camaraderie among the players than what fans are used to seeing when these same players represent their respective WNBA sides.
While filming fun media content for the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup, Team USA was asked who the "biggest trash talker" on their squad is. Unironically, many fingers pointed to one individual: Angel Reese.
Reese was overwhelmingly voted number one by her teammates for her constant in-game chatter, including Chelsea Gray, Jackie Young, Aliyah Boston, and Paige Bueckers.
If fans can recall, Reese made headlines after the 2023 NCAA Championship game when she taunted Clark by pointing to her ring finger as the LSU Tigers closed in on the championship. Reese, who rarely stays silent on court, has made a reputation for trash-talking her rivals.

Germany is risking gas shortages this winter if it turns out to be colder than previous years, the country's gas storage ******* ociation has warned.
With current gas storage levels at 54.52%, the industry ******* ociation, INES, said the best it could do by November 1 would be 77%. This would be more than the latest target set by the German government but less than the usual level of gas in storage as of November 1. This means that if it gets very cold in December and January, shortages may emerge.
However, it is far from certain that Germany's gas storage caverns would reach the 77% full level, the head of INES suggested, as quoted by Reuters. Reaching this level by November 1 would require an injection rate of 1 terawatt-hour daily, and injection rates over the past three weeks have been lower than that, Sebastian Heinemann said.
At current injection rates, Germany's storage will only be 63% as of November 1, he also warned. Per Gas Infrastructure Europe, Germany is currently injecting gas into storage at a rate of around 900 GWh daily.
If the winter is mild, 77% full gas storage would be enough to cover seasonal demand and leave Germany with 38% full storage by April 1, the executive noted. However, if the winter turns out colder than hoped for, some days in January could see a gap between gas demand and supply of as much as 25%.

BERLIN, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Mamad Mohamad watched with mixed emotions as the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) swept to a historic victory on Sunday evening in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt.
A member of the Greens, the 46-year-old ‌is set to become one of the first lawmakers with an immigrant background to enter the state parliament, alongside Mustafa ‌Groener of the Left (Die Linke) party.
For Mohamad, who arrived in Germany from Syria as a 16-year-old Yazidi Kurd in 1996, it was a milestone that should have been a moment of celebration. Instead, he described it as a "poisoned victory".
"My heart was split," Mohamad said, recalling the first projections that showed the AfD outperforming expectations while Chancellor Friedrich Merz's governing conservatives slumped to a historic low.

CERNOBBIO, Italy, Sept 5 (Reuters) - NATO members should not tolerate deliberate actions of hybrid war, ‌and the United States will stand by ‌countries as they deal with these incidents, Matthew Whitaker, the U.S. ambassador to NATO, said on Saturday.
Whitaker said last month's attempted drone attack at Germany's Leipzig/Halle Airport, which Berlin has blamed on Russia, was more worrying than ‌other recent incidents NATO members have faced due to Russian drones targeting Ukraine that strayed off course.
"Then you have what I would call the more concerning hybrid actions like we saw in Leipzig, like we have seen in Poland," Whitaker said speaking on the ‌sidelines of a business conference in Italy.
NATO members must be prepared, vigilant and also deliver a strong message when they are challenged by these events, he said.
"If we can identify who's doing it — which ‌Germany did — we make sure we express strongly that is unacceptable and we will not tolerate it," Whitaker said.

Well, Team USA had tons of trouble with Italy.
Less than six months ago, Team USA defeated Italy by 34 points in the World Cup Qualifying Tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico. On Sunday in Berlin, Germany, Team USA squeaked out a three-point win, 55-52.
On paper, the Italians may not have had any advantages over the United States. The resumes and statistics that convey the Americans' superiority, however, failed to account for the firey and feisty motivation that the Italians brought to the matchup.
Team USA was going through the motions. Italy played with emotion.
As indicated by the final score, it was an ugly affair.
