It's not just that Indiana took a blowtorch to everything the stodgy world of college football knows to be holy, right, and true.

It's that now everyone - from Kentucky to UCLA to insert-your-Power-Four-school-here - has some glimmer of hope that maybe, with the right mix of miracles, can have the type of success that fans of most schools have been generationally conditioned to not dare dream possible.
It's also that the bar has been raised for the powerhouses.

Alabama didn't just lose in the College Football Playoff. Ala-FREAKING-Bama is still recovering from the atomic wedgie applied by ... Indiana?! It offends the sensibilities.

And if you think that's not sitting well for an Alabama, try Nebraska, and USC, and Florida and all the other traditional football schools that expect to compete for giant things every year, and can't.
But no, this doesn't necessarily mean Indiana will win the national ****** le again this year, or next year, or five years from now. It means that it'll at least be in the mix.

Ohio State doesn't win it all every year. Texas still hasn't won one since Vince Young. Notre Dame hasn't won one since 1988.

A cat rescue has been left "speechless" after a cat in their care gave birth to a kitten with two noses and two mouths.
PurrfectlyFeral in Llangedwyn, Powys, shared the discovery after the kitten was born with a rare congenital disorder called diprosopus, also known as craniofacial duplication.
Known as Janus cats, the condition is named after the mythological Roman god who is traditionally depicted with two faces and is extremely rare in cats.
Rescue founder Shelley Jones said most Janus kittens are either stillborn or survive only for a short time after birth, so the "little miracle", who has been named Gemini, is being monitored "around the clock".

Penn State has a long and convoluted college football history that includes extended periods of success, brief periods of inactivity, and a whole bunch of drama in between the lines. LAKE PLACID — As America continues to celebrate the 250th anniversary of its berth, the legacy of one of the nation’s greatest moments continues to be chronicled at a studio in Loveland, Colorado.
Sculptor Rob Eccleston has made significant progress on the "Monument to a Miracle" sculpture honoring a time when 20 U.S. hockey players shocked the world at the 1980 Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid by defeating the heavily favored Soviet Union in the Miracle on Ice. The team, coached by Herb Brooks, then overcame Finland two days later to secure an improbable gold medal.
“When I presented the sketches to the team, they said it was really nice, but we really want it to be based on the photo of them on the podium because on our backs is USA, not our names,” Eccleston said. “It’s not about us as individuals. It’s about the team. And that spoke volumes to me. It made me more interested in doing the project than ever before because it showed the humility of these amazing hockey players.”

SOUTHPORT, England – There won’t be another Jordan Spieth miracle bogey at Royal Birkdale this time around at the 154th British Open.
That’s because the area right of right at the par-4 13th hole will be considered out of bounds. Instead of the range as it was in 2017 when Spieth was the Champion Golfer of the Year, that ****** e will be utilized as the site of the fan village with OB beginning at the cart path to the right of the dunes.
Spieth’s opening comment in his press conference after winning in 2017 was, “We’re going to skip the first twelve holes, right?”, referring to his adventurous bogey-five on the 13th, followed by a finish of birdie, eagle, birdie, birdie, par to win by three strokes.
Who can forget Spieth fanning his tee shot so far right at 13 that it struck the noggin of a fan and ricocheted into an unplayable lie on the side of a dune. Then it took about a half an hour to determine his relief. Spieth ended up hitting his third shot from the club’s driving range.
That’s not the only change to the hole since the last Open was here. There is a new left tee box that alters the angle to a fairway pinched in by new bunkering to the right and an expanded dune dividing the 13th from the fan village and a ditch that runs the length of the hole to the left. The greenside bunker that Spieth had to pitch over for his fourth shot also has been pushed back nearer to the green. Spieth pitched to 10 feet and canned the putt for an improbable bogey to fall only one stroke back of Matt Kuchar. Then he rifled a 6-iron that lipped out to 5 feet at the par-3 14th. That hole had been dropped from the layout, the green saved as part of a short-game practice area. The new 14th is what used to be the par-5 15th, remodeled into a 602-yard par 5 with the green moved back some 30 yards from its previous location. The 241-yard, par-3 15th is a new short hole created to diversify the directions and lengths of the course’s par 3s.

The Miracle League, a national nonprofit that creates opportunities for children with disabilities to play baseball, joined the Phillies for an evening designed to make young fans feel like pros. Among them were Everett and Remi, siblings born with cerebral palsy.
"This has been just a dream. These are the two biggest Phillies fans right here," said their mother, Samantha Govitz.

All charges against a radiologist accused of trying to kill his family in 2023 by driving his car off a cliff along the Northern California coast have been dismissed by a judge following his completion of a mental health program.
Prosecutors charged Dharmesh Patel, 45, with attempted murder after he drove his Tesla off a 250-foot cliff along the Pacific Coast Highway in San Mateo County, injuring his wife and two young children. All four survived the Jan. 2, 2023, crash in what one official called an "absolute miracle."
A San Mateo County judge dismissed the charges on Monday after Patel completed a two-year mental health diversion program with a Stanford psychiatrist and a family therapist this week, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
"The judge was required by the law to dismiss the charges," Wagstaffe said.
In 2024, a different judge ruled Patel would receive mental health treatment instead of standing trial after his defense attorneys argued he was going through episodic major depression with hallucinations when he drove his family off the cliff and qualified for mental health diversion under California law that went into effect in 2023.

In terms of home-field advantage on the international stage, it doesn’t get much greater than Mexico at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. Not only is the support world class, the stadium’s sitting at over 7000 feet above sea level — more than twice as high as the highest point in all of England — and Mexico had only ever lost two (2) competitive games there, out of 89 played.
But last night, England pulled off a minor miracle: a rather improbable victory in a game dominated by the opposition. Mexico had impressed in their four games getting to this point; England had not. Mexico had not even conceded a goal. As it turned out, the drama was just starting.

The White House went into overdrive on Taylor Swift Friday, posting a meme appropriating the Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce wedding at Madison Square Garden.

In an Instagram post Friday evening, the White House parodied the Garden's purple digital billboard of Swift and Kelce's "JUST&T Married" by replacing it with the message "Trump Is Your President," alongside similar text of "It's happened!" which makes sense only if you think about it for fewer than two seconds.

The post follows one from Thursday night in which a collage of all-American images like Iwo Jima and the Miracle on Ice are dominated by an image of Trump, beneath the caption of "America's Eras Tour," parodying Swift's poster for the 2023 concert behemoth; it even included Taylor's "It's a long time coming line" from that barnstorm.

The specter of a wedding on a national holiday seemed to especially rankle a Swift-sensitive White House: The White House also posted two videos to X montage-ing moments in American history by repurposing Swift; one proclaimed "Next in America's Eras Tour" while another touted "America's greatest hits, one era at a time."

Compared to some of the other celebrity tolls Trump has engaged in — just this week he posted an AI video as a doctor treating Julia Roberts and Robert De Niro for "Trump Derangement Syndrome" — this proved to be pretty tame and even had an air of grudging blessing. There's a reason for that.

Running against liberal movie stars is a risk-free bet for the president and an easy score with his base. Going after Swift, however, requires more of a shadowbox for Trump, who knows that plenty of people in swing states where he is backing candidates look up to her and her liberal views, and that a war with her could turn out a vote against him. That's one reason he has said he wished the couple well (but also predicted they would not last).

The choice of July 4 weekend, with icons performing on a grand platform, also, whether intentionally or not, upstages Trump, who wanted something similar for himself with a Freedom 250 concert but saw even musicians like Martina McBride and Bret Michaels — hardly progressive firebrands — drop out because they didn't want to be **** ociated with the partisan celebration.

Meanwhile, Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney take the stage, or plan to, with the country's biggest pop star at the wedding Friday night. And in front of a who's-who of liberal entertainers, in what will be the world's first pop concert to feature a wedding **** ouncement from Billy Madison.

If Hugo Broos' team goes even farther when it faces co-host Canada on Sunday in the tournament's first knockout match, the Belgian coach is ready to call that something even bigger.
“If we should succeed again to go through to the (next) round, I can say that should be a miracle for Bafana Bafana,” Broos said Saturday.
Broos took over this team five years ago believing that the nation with Africa's sixth-largest population and its largest GDP should consistently have one of the continent’s best teams. Bafana Bafana, as the team is known to its fans, had won only two World Cup matches in its checkered international history — but Broos has built a roster consisting largely of players from South Africa's domestic league into a talented, versatile team that is finally living up to its nation's potential.
South Africa still had to open this World Cup in arguably the most difficult way possible — facing co-host Mexico's strong team in the altitude of formidable Azteca Stadium.

Upworthy: How do you wrap your mind around all this popularity? Is this what you envisioned happening, or do you view it more as a happy, wonderful miracle?
Taylor: I think there's definitely some strategy to it. I don't lean too heavily into trying to grow a raw follower count or anything—that's not my end goal. For Kay and me, the ultimate goal is to document our day. I think that's what resonates with people. Your intentions come through in the content, whether you want them to or not. If you're just thirsty for followers, it's going to show up. And since we're not that way, I think that people feel that genuine connection.
Upworthy: Lately on your channels, we've seen everything from finding a crack in your home's window frame to teaching one of your daughters the alphabet for the first time. It made me wonder: do you have a "typical fan" who tunes into you? And who would that be?
Taylor: When you get to this size of following, it kind of hits everyone at that point. We have grandparents who watch us, teenagers, parents—it's kind of all over the place. There are no expectations. We could find something by our window that needs to be remedied, and the next day, we're just playing with a new toy. The way Kay and I like to do it, we just post the most fun moment of the day. The rest of the day becomes our stories on Instagram, and that is less edited. It does well because it's natural.

Despite having a decent 2025 campaign as a fill-in for RB Omarion Hampton, a Kimani Vidal trade could be possible after the Los Angeles Chargers overhauled its offense and ground game. The team signed Keaton Mitchell to add some extra speed that would fit into the new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel’s new scheme. There’s a chance that Vidal could be the “odd man out” in this situation if this new offense works for Mitchell and Hampton this upcoming season. Although the future is still bright for the former sixth-round pick, he might not have a huge role after the 2026 season.
“Despite his contributions in the previous season, Vidal could drop to No. 3 on the depth chart if Mitchell flashes his pre-ACL-injury quickness,” Moe Moton of Bleacher Report said. “If Vidal falls out of favor in McDaniel’s offense, the Chargers may look to deal him to a team that needs to bolster its backfield committee.”
At the same time, **** ody should believe that the Chargers would trade Vidal. He’s proven that he can be reliable, and it would be hard to replace him after just two seasons in the league. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh joined the Chargers a few years ago and selected the RB for the sole reason of winning football games with a strong run game.
However, that could change when McDaniel takes the lead. Vidal shouldn’t have any worries, though, since Mitchell hasn’t proved that he can stay healthy. The same can be said about Hampton, who started just nine games last year. Unless a miracle and a breakout season come from Hampton and Mitchell at the same time, they shouldn’t move the former 2024 draft selection.
Although no one should rule out the fact that he could get pricey come contract negotiations, the Chargers won’t have to worry about that anytime soon, but the team has been reluctant to sign superstars to at least boost their pass-attack and defense. One can argue that the team could be the same way with their RB. They still believe in Hampton, and if Mitchell has a decent season, they could use Vidal as a trade chip at the right price.
