The Oregon Ducks were embarrassed on the road in a Week 2 loss to Oklahoma State. And, to add injury to insult, the Ducks were down a key weapon on offense and lost more important pieces as the game went on.
Tight end Jamari Johnson made the trip to Stillwater and warmed up with the team, and there was no reason to believe he wouldn't suit up and take the field. However, as the game kicked off, the ESPN broadcast reported that Johnson wouldn't play against the Cowboys.
After the upset loss, Dan Lanning clarified that Johnson suffered an injury against Boise State, which remains undisclosed, and he was unable to practice before the Oklahoma State game. On Monday, with a short week of practice ahead of a Friday night game against Portland State, Lanning gave an update on Johnson's status.
"Still evaluating it with Jamari," Lanning said. "We'll see what that looks like. I think I mentioned last week he might be down for a few (games), so we'll see if he's able to get back to where he's able to perform."
If Johnson is unable to play for a few weeks, Oregon will have to lean on its unproven options at tight end. Penn State transfer Andrew Olesh drew the start against Oklahoma State and made one catch. Freshman Kendre Harrison also played, while Clemson transfer Markus Dixon played one snap.

Borussia Dortmund will face newly promoted SC Paderborn 07 at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday in their next Bundesliga fixture.
Dortmund go into the game in outstanding form, having secured victories in each of their last four matches across all competitions. Under the guidance of head coach Niko Kovač, the Black and Yellows have collected the maximum six points from their opening two Bundesliga matches and are firmly positioned close to the top of the standings. Their latest league appearance produced an exciting 3-2 away win against TSG Hoffenheim, while they followed that result with another narrow 3-2 victory over Villarreal CF in their midweek UEFA Champions League opener.
The German side have also been handed a significant boost in defence before the encounter, although Kovač still has to deal with a number of important absences.
Nico Schlotterbeck and Ramy Bensebaini have both recovered from their respective ankle and rib problems, providing welcome news for the Dortmund backline.
The pair returned to full team training during the week, and Kovač confirmed that both defenders are fit and ready to challenge for places in the starting XI.

Plymouth Argyle boss Tom Cleverley says he is pleased with the start youngsters Tegan Finn and Caleb Roberts have made to their loans at Torquay United.
The duo made their debuts in Tuesday night's 4-0 win at Maidenhead United.
Roberts started the game while Finn scored and had an **** ist after coming on as a substitute.
"I've had good reports for the pair of them from the game," Cleverley said.
"It's a very good level that they're playing and they've got expectations to be in the top six, maybe even the top two or three.

Amid all of the madness of last Tuesday's deadline day scramble, involving three new signings, private jets allegedly bound for Sunderland and South London, some last-minute involvement from Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and a mysterious, guru-like figure known only as Uncle Bouba, it would've been easy to wed yourself to the view that "Sunderland have panicked! We've got it wrong and this isn't how it was supposed to be with such a historic season to come!"
OK, had we actually failed to sign Belgian winger Malick Fofana after protracted moves for the likes of Geny Catamo, Igor Paixão and Dodi Lukebakio failed to materialise for one reason or another, there might've been a case in favour of that.
However, as we took to our beds on Tuesday night with Fofana and Tottenham loanee Kevin Danso on board, and young Ecuadorian forward Juan Riquelme Angulo Caicedo to follow in the early hours of Wednesday, it felt as though we'd hauled what could've been an underwhelming window up into the 7/10 bracket — not dazzling, but solid enough.
Could it have been better? Perhaps.
Could it have been even more frustrating and ultimately underwhelming? Most definitely, and it must be said that the fact we were able to retain the services of Robin Roefs, Noah Sadiki and Brian Brobbey, as well as being willing to shut down any speculation surrounding Wilson Isidor's future with a new deal, felt borderline miraculous.

Eight saves, many of them excellent. Good distribution. And a man of the match performance. If timing is everything, Scott Bain may just have played his way into the forefront of the new Scotland head coach's thinking.
Sebastien Pocognoli will soon be announcing his first squad for the forthcoming Nations League games.
With the retirement of Craig Gordon and the lack of recent first-team minutes for Angus Gunn and Liam Kelly - the other two World Cup squad goalkeepers - is Bain the obvious answer to Pocognoli's potential problem?
On the evidence of his display against Dundee United on Saturday - without which his side may well have been beaten given the number of chances United created - he'll be very unlucky not to be recalled to the international fold.
Unsurprisingly, Bain's manager John McGlynn was happy to sing his praises.

Nebraska volleyball schedule 2026: Dates, times, TV channels, live streams for Huskers home and away matches originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Fall sports season is back, which means it's time for women's college volleyball. As always, one of the nation's top programs is ready to dominate — get ready for Nebraska to hit the court.
Even with a lethal core squad, the Huskers fell short of a ******* le last year, losing to eventual champions Texas A&M in the Elite Eight. Prior to the regional final, Nebraska had sat strongly at the top of the national polls as it won 33 consecutive matches.
But a curtain call is looming for this era of Nebraska volleyball, as many of the program's star players are heading into their senior year. Outside hitter Harper Murray, middle blocker Andi Jackson, setter Bergen Reilly and libero Laney Choboy will all have an extra sense of determination as they look to secure a national ******* le before graduating.
Nebraska ranked No. 1 in the preseason AVCA coaches poll. Can Dani Busboom-Kelly lead the Huskers to a ******* le in her second year at the helm?

LAS VEGAS — Former Phoenix Mercury center Kalani Brown spent the summer waiting for another WNBA opportunity. When it finally came, it brought her back to a team that ended her previous season.
Mercury forward Satou Sabally (0) and Kalani Brown (21) celebrate a basket against the Lynx at PHX Arena in Phoenix, on May 30, 2025.
Brown spoke for the first time since signing with the Las Vegas Aces, returning to the league after agreeing to a contract buyout with the Mercury in the preseason. The move came after Las Vegas ruled NaLyssa Smith out for the remainder of the season with a left leg injury.
What makes Brown's return particularly interesting is the history tied between player and team. She spent the 2025 season in Phoenix after arriving from Dallas as part of a four-team trade that also brought Satou Sabally and Alyssa Thomas to the Valley.

Shaq Thompson is back with the Buffalo Bills.
Not that he ever really went anywhere.
The Bills signed the veteran linebacker to their practice squad Monday after Thompson spent the entire offseason as an unrestricted free agent.
"I wanted to be a Bill. I wanted to play football. I wanted to be around these guys," Thompson said on Tuesday. "When you come to work everyday and everybody has the same mindset... They make work fun. They make the building fun. Atmosphere is fun.
"Just brothers. It's more than just football players coming together. It's a true family here."

WEST LAFAYETTE — Josh Henson and Kevin Kane spent the last month trying to outwit the other.
Now Purdue football's offensive and defensive coordinators are unified in hoping to play complementary football Friday night against someone other than their own team.
For Kane, Friday's kickoff against Indiana State is a first chance to prove Barry Odom's decision to hire him for the role he'd had in 2023 and '24, an unpopular move for fans, was the right choice.
For Henson, it's a chance to show growth after 2025 provided him the first chance to be a full-time offensive play caller in a decade.
"These small little details and just organizing and running an offense, one year back into it, I'm rolling on those things," Henson said four days ahead of the season opener. "Because of that, it's given our coaching staff the ability to go coach our guys on all the small details and I feel like we're further along in that area."

Per Yea Alabama, the Alabama Crimson Tide have finalized kicking roles ahead of the 2026 college football season.
A competition Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer recently described as "extremely competitive," Conor Talty will serve as the Crimson Tide's field goal kicker this fall, as well as handle extra points. Lorcan Quinn, a transfer from Marshall who was competing with Talty during fall camp, will handle kickoffs.
Talty is entering his fourth season at Alabama, as well as his second as the Crimson Tide's primary field goal kicker. As a junior last fall, Talty made 16-of-23 field goals attempted for the Crimson Tide, while also a perfect 48-of-48 on extra points.
Quinn, a sophomore, joined the Crimson Tide this offseason following a season at Marshall where he was one of the Sun Belt's top kickers a year ago, leading the conference with 21 made field goals on 26 attempts.
Alabama will open the 2026 season at home this upcoming Saturday, Sept. 5, against East Carolina. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT on ABC.
