Michael Douglas has claimed that someone plotted to stab him with a HIV-infected needle at the 1992 Oscars.
In his memoir, One ******* uva Ride, the Basic Instinct actor recalled being met by an FBI agent and a police sergeant when he arrived on the red carpet at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles to present the Best Actress award.
They informed him that there was a "credible threat" to his life.
"We have information that someone will try to stab you with an HIV-infected needle tonight," Douglas recalled the authorities telling him in the book, according to Page Six.
"This was during the height of the AIDS crisis, and getting stabbed with an infected needle would essentially be a death sentence."
According to the Wall Street star, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents were undercover throughout the crowd in an effort to thwart the plot.

Former supermodel Naomi Campbell won a legal challenge on Thursday to overturn a five-year ban on being a charity trustee after a panel accepted she had been the victim of deception.
The Charity Commission watchdog had banned Campbell in 2024 after identifying "multiple instances of misconduct" at her charity, Fashion for Relief.
The tribunal ruled on Thursday that there had been mismanagement but Campbell was "not involved" and "did not know" about it.
Instead, Campbell had been the victim of deception perpetrated by her co-trustee, Bianka ******* mich, who was disqualified from being a charity trustee for nine years.
Hellmich had "used forged documents and a false email address" purporting to belong to Campbell, the tribunal ruled.

When Aaron Rodgers showed up to Steelers minicamp last year with a wedding ring, it sparked plenty of speculation about his personal life. Fast forward a year later, and we still haven't seen Rodgers' wife, Brittani, in any capacity. But the Steelers quarterback — now in his 22nd and final NFL season — is at least willing to discuss his mysterious wife.
Appearing on the Not Just Football podcast with Cam Heyward, Rodgers spoke openly about his marriage for the first time. The couple was married in 2025. And though there is no public record of any marriage, California does allow for confidential marriages. According to Rodgers, he met Brittani in 2017 and spent years regretting that he hadn't pursued a relationship with her earlier.

"In 2017, I met my wife, and at the time, she was leaving the States and going back to Europe. And my biggest regret is not begging her to stay or proposing right there because that sent me right there into a tailspin of what can I be accused of as a partner in a relationship."

I'll never forget the first time I encountered Grindr. In 2009, I was enjoying happy hour at Cobalt, a since-shuttered gay bar in D.C.'s Dupont Circle. My friend, spying the mustard skull on an iPhone (first released in 2007!) from across the room, nudged me. "That's the gay hookup app," he whispered scandalously.
When I got over the stigma of downloading Grindr, I was astounded how easy it was to flirt with nearby queer men — and to network. During RuPaul's Drag Race season 3, I changed my username to "Team Jujubee," a nod to a frontrunner, which helped me find a viewing-party friend in my neighborhood. When I lived in New York, I would sometimes engage in friendly chats with the app's gay founder, Joel Simkhai, who'd pop up on my grid from time to time.
For good and ill, tech and our relationship with it has changed a lot since the aughts. Gay apps are no longer a battery-draining novelty; for many, they're as quotidian as texting, a digital town square where a Madonna takeover and catfishing are commonplace. Many, like Grindr, are also now owned by straight people. And no need to comb the upper reaches of Cablevision's channels to find Drag Race anymore — there's an app for that too (several, in fact, depending on the region and season).

Rees-Jones left the Ritz Paris in the front passenger seat shortly after midnight on Aug. 31, 1997. The Mercedes crashed into a pillar in the Pont de l'Alma underpass. Paul and Fayed died at the scene, while Diana was taken to Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, where she died several hours later.
Rees-Jones was not Diana's personal bodyguard. The former British Army paratrooper worked for the Fayed family and had been ******* igned to protect Dodi, which also placed Diana within his security responsibilities while the couple traveled together, as PEOPLE reported on the crash's 29th anniversary.
He survived with severe head, chest and facial injuries. For the investigations that followed, however, one consequence proved especially significant, Rees-Jones could remember leaving the Ritz, but almost nothing reliable about what happened afterward.
French investigators questioned Rees-Jones within weeks of the crash, hoping the sole surviving occupant could explain the Mercedes' final journey. His head injury had left major gaps in his memory, and those early interviews produced little that investigators considered useful.
