The Boston Tea Party wasn't really about the tea, and it certainly wasn't about the Mohawks though those were the costumes the colonists wore as they dumped the boxes overboard.
In Tuesday's Democratic Senate primary in deep blue Massachusetts, longtime Sen. Ed Markey is harking back to those revolutionary roots as he pitches himself to voters as the anti-establishment candidate against Rep. Seth Moulton – despite arriving to Washington just three years after Joe Biden did in 1973.
Although the language of the left-wing insurgency surrounds the race, under the surface, the contest for many appears to be less about ideological issues or governing philosophies than a smash-up of ambition, efforts to secure Democratic power in the state in the future, and personal pique.

Markey, 80, in one corner, is vowing to keep fighting for left-wing ideals, which include some successes and some that he hasn't passed in all his years in power so far. In the other, Moulton, the 47-year-old decorated Marine and six-term congressman who has frustrated Nancy Pelosi and many other Democrats by repeatedly challenging their leadership, has staked his campaign on generational change.

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. forces struck Iranian rocket launchers on the Strait of Hormuz in their first military action in a month on Sunday, breaking a lull in fighting during an intermittent war that has lasted more than six months. Iran swiftly vowed to retaliate for what it called a deadly attack.
Forces with the Revolutionary Guard Corps were observed preparing to launch rockets with sea mines into the strait, according to Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for the U.S. Central Command. The U.S. military last week completed clearing sea mines from the strait's international shipping routes.
Semiofficial news outlets in Iran reported sounds of explosions near Larak island on the strait. The Guard in a statement carried by Iran's state broadcaster noted "the martyrdom and injury of several of our fighters and compatriots."
Later, Iranian state television showed what it said were ballistic missiles being fired by Iran at U.S. bases in Jordan in response to the American strikes. Jordan's armed forces said they intercepted eight missiles that penetrated the country's airspace early Monday.
A return to open conflict would be dangerous for the region, where Iran has targeted U.S. military bases and infrastructure in Gulf countries since the war began on Feb. 28.

In the wild world of cryptocurrencies, there is perhaps no digital ******* et that has driven more speculative fever than Shiba Inu (CRYPTO: SHIB). It produced an absolutely mind-boggling return in 2021. But its price currently sits far below its peak, a setup that some bulls might find enticing.
In the stock market, there is certainly no business that has driven the market's excitement this decade quite like Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has. The dominant artificial intelligence (AI) chip supplier continues to report fantastic financial results. It's powering this revolutionary technological boom.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
How likely is it that Shiba Inu outperforms the top AI stock in the coming five years? Here's what history suggests will happen.
Past performance doesn't have any influence on future results. However, it's impossible to ignore what recent trends might suggest.

Revolution Medicines, Inc. (NASDAQ:RVMD) touched an all-time high above $224 on August 27, 2026, following FDA approval of Rasonque (daraxonrasib) – the first broad RAS-targeted therapy cleared for metastatic pancreatic cancer. Creating a milestone, the approval came roughly five weeks after filing under the agency's national priority voucher. The pivotal RASolute 302 trial nearly doubled median overall survival, to 13.2 months from 6.7 on chemotherapy. While the clinical benefit is substantial, a $47 billion valuation suggests the market had already priced in this success.
RVMD carries essentially no product revenue yet. Its price rests entirely on the future. Evercore ISI has raised the next-year sales estimate for Rasonque to ~$2.4 billion. Additionally, the $47 billion valuation discounts much of a long-term pancreatic opportunity which the Evercore **** yst estimates Rasonque could generate about $15.1 billion in pancreatic-cancer sales by 2034. However, a few details complicate this math. First, the approved label applies strictly to second-line or multiagent-ineligible patients. The front-line indication represents the larger market opportunity but remains pending, meaning a notable portion of the TAM is not yet accessible. Second, RVMD's current valuation also sits well above the $28 billion–$32 billion takeover valuation reportedly discussed with Merck earlier this year. Bulls argue lung and colorectal trials justify the $47 billion beyond pancreatic cancer, though that pipeline potential remains unproven.
That matters because Revolution Medicines must now execute its first commercial launch independently in one of oncology's most challenging indications characterized by short survival, high patient frailty, and a U.S. list price of $39,800 for a 30-day supply. Commercialization will require heavy spending. The second-quarter net loss widened to $644 million, and full-year operating expense guidance increased to between $2.1 and $2.2 billion. While a $3.9 billion cash balance and up to $1.5 billion in committed royalty financing fund the launch, operational execution remains the primary risk.
Insiders were net sellers of roughly $21.5 million over the past 90 days with zero buying. Hedge fund data on the stock is flat. As per the Insider Monkey database, 105 funds held RVMD in the second quarter of 2026, modestly down from 106 in the first, indicating strong conviction among institutional investors. Short interest sits near 6% of float, representing a modest level of bets against the stock.

In the words of Carson Group's Chief Market Strategist, Ryan Detrick: "Death, taxes, and Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) beats on earnings are three things we can always count on in life."
For the 11th time in the last 12 quarters, the infrastructure backbone of the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution demolished Wall Street's consensus sales and profit expectations in its fiscal second quarter (ended July 26). Sales more than doubled to $96.2 billion, with (surprise, surprise!) the data center segment leading the way (117% year-over-year revenue growth).
Continue »
Furthermore, the company projects that full-year sales will skyrocket by another 70% in fiscal 2028. This compares to Wall Street's revenue growth estimates of 44%.
CEO Jensen Huang proclaimed, "AI has reached its inflection point" and made clear to investors that "demand is accelerating." Given Nvidia's aggressive innovation cycle -- it's aiming to bring a new advanced AI-accelerating chip to market annually -- and the compute superiority of its multiple generations of graphics processing units (GPUs), it's not a shock that Nvidia has made a habit of leapfrogging even the loftiest expectations on Wall Street.

Aug 26 (Reuters) - MSCI's global equities gauge barely rose on Wednesday after U.S. inflation data came in hotter than expected while investors waited for results from AI heavyweight Nvidia, and oil prices settled lower after a choppy session.
A senior Iranian source said on Wednesday that Iran and Oman are still working on the details of an agreement on the Strait of Hormuz, a vital energy conduit. Earlier, Iran's Revolutionary Guards said the two countries had agreed on how to share the waterway and its revenues. However, the Guards' spokesperson said the strait would not open unless the U.S. met Tehran's conditions.
Meanwhile, data showed annual U.S. inflation unexpectedly held steady in July and was well above the Federal Reserve's 2% target for the 65th straight month. Separate government data showed consumer spending decelerating modestly in July while personal incomes rose faster than inflation.
On Wall Street, the three main indexes closed slightly lower after the data.

Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) has delivered incredible earnings growth to investors quarter after quarter since the early days of this artificial intelligence (AI) revolution. The company is the world's leading designer of AI chips, the products that fuel key tasks throughout every stage of AI development and use -- and this has translated into record levels of revenue and profit.
The tech giant hasn't stopped at these graphics processing units (GPUs), however, and has expanded into a broad range of products and services to create an AI empire. This means companies can turn to Nvidia for all of their AI needs.

The on-demand library it was built on is no longer the story management leads with, and the quality measure it now sets beside view hours is one the company will not detail.
Netflix (NFLX) has fallen 34.4% over the past twelve months while the S&P 500 returned 21.0%, though it is still 18.1% higher than it was twenty-four months ago. The bigger change is not in the price: the company has moved its lead story off the on-demand library it was built on and the quality side of its engagement case out of public view.
Management Used To Describe The Company Narrowly
In earlier calls management described the company narrowly: it was in the subscription entertainment business, and its core strategy was giving members exclusive first-run movies. That is no longer the whole of it. In the July 2026 call management says the definition of TV has broadened and its own has changed with it. The core TV series and film still take the vast majority of programming spend; what management foregrounds alongside them is live programming, cloud games, video podcasts, and carrying content partner TF1's local programming inside Netflix for French members. Management itself calls the expansions evolutionary rather than revolutionary.

LONDON, Aug 24 - U.S. threats to impose "the toughest sanctions in history" to force Iran to buckle to its demands after nearly six months of war have raised the prospect of a new round of escalation in the Gulf.
How could Iran respond to the economic pressure?
CAN IRAN STOP MORE OIL GETTING OUT OF THE MIDDLE EAST?
Mohsen Rezaei, the former Revolutionary Guards chief and secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, has already threatened to shut down oil exports — one of Tehran's main strategic approaches since the war began on February 28.
"If the economic war continues, not a single drop of oil will be exported, neither through the Strait of Hormuz nor from anywhere in the Persian Gulf," he said.

Zoetis Inc. (NYSE:ZTS) entered 2026 as a leader in animal health, but its latest earnings show that even a strong market position cannot fully insulate the company from weaker consumer demand. Fiscal Q2 2026 revenue remained flat at $2.5 billion and declined 1% on an organic operational basis, as pressure in the U.S. companion-animal market offset growth in livestock and international markets.
The quarter therefore presents investors with two different versions of Zoetis (NYSE:ZTS), as an established companion-animal business facing near-term pressure and a diversified animal-health platform still investing in its next generation of products.
Zoetis's (NYSE:ZTS) diversification provided an important source of resilience during the quarter. Livestock revenue increased 12% on a reported basis, supported by cattle and poultry products. In the United States, livestock sales grew 23% on both a reported and organic operational basis in the quarter, benefiting from favorable beef-cattle economics, supply timing, and increased poultry-vaccine sales **** ociated with disease outbreaks.
International performance was also encouraging. Revenue outside the United States rose 8% on a reported basis and 6% organically to $1.2 billion. International companion-animal sales grew 5% organically, supported by parasiticides such as Simparica Trio, Revolution and Stronghold, as well as diagnostics and newer osteoarthritis treatments. This geographic contrast demonstrates that the weakness was not uniform across Zoetis's (NYSE:ZTS) business. Demand for its products remains healthy in several markets, even as U.S. pet owners become more price-sensitive.
However, innovation could provide another route back to growth, as Zoetis (NYSE:ZTS) says that its pipeline contains more than 12 potential blockbuster candidates across chronic kidney disease, oncology, cardiology, anxiety, and obesity. The company also launched Lenivia and Portela, long-acting osteoarthritis treatments offering dogs and cats up to three months of pain relief from one injection.

Just a few years ago, most people may not have even known what a natural gas power turbine was, or what they're used for. Today, investors keeping tabs on the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution are almost certainly familiar with them, and the AI industry's lack of them.
See, gas turbines generate onsite electricity that AI data centers need, but utility companies aren't in a position to deliver. Anywhere from the size of a delivery truck to a train car, these massive machines can put out watts to power a small city, or -- obviously -- an AI data center. They just need a supply of natural gas, which is now proving easier to get than an institutional-scale hookup to a power grid.
Continue »
And the AI industry is most definitely embracing the solution. Although the majority of them aren't yet operational, BloombergNEF reports that there are nearly 100 data centers with, or building, on-site natural gas turbine power infrastructure. Although they come with a higher upfront cost, owners/operators like their long-term cost-effectiveness and the self-sufficiency they enable. To this end, PwC expect the AI industry's consumption of natural gas to more than quintuple by 2035, with power turbines accounting for much of this growth.
There's just one not-so-small problem with the idea. That is, with demand greatly exceeding supply, prices of natural gas power turbines are soaring. As energy industry consulting and research firm Wood Mackenzie noted earlier this year, by the end of next year, the per-kilowatt cost of gas-powered turbines could be 195% higher than where it was in 2019.

Technology giant NVIDIA is furthering its support of artificial intelligence (AI) and data center construction. Cloverleaf Infrastructure, a group that supports the AI buildout by providing power sources and infrastructure for site development, on August 21 said it has entered into a strategic partnership with NVIDIA to advance the development of digital infrastructure across the U.S.NVIDIA reportedly as part of the agreement is taking a minority stake in Cloverleaf, which was founded in 2024 and raised $300 million in its first year. Cloverleaf is often considered a middleman between utility companies and data centers as the AI factories seek ways to ensure their electricity supply.NVIDIA has begun taking a larger role in financing and developing data centers that then buy the company's AI systems. NVIDIA earlier this month announced it would invest $1.5 billion into SB Energy to support that group's PORTS-Pike campus, an OpenAI-linked 10-GW data center project in Pike County, Ohio. Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, said of that deal, "AI is becoming infrastructure—the foundation for intelligence in every industry—and land, power and shell have become vital in the age of AI. Now is the time to scale the AI infrastructure that will power the next industrial revolution. We are securing long-lived infrastructure for NVIDIA compute so OpenAI can deploy the most productive AI factories that can be upgraded repeatedly with each new generation delivering more intelligence and better economics."NVIDIA will be featured prominently at the upcoming Experience POWER conference, hosted by POWER and scheduled for Sept. 28–30, 2026, at the Omni Shoreham in Washington, D.C. John Josephakis, NVIDIA's Global Vice President of HPC, AI & Supercomputing, is a featured speaker addressing AI integration in federal energy initiatives. POWER also will host the Data Center POWER eXchange event at the same venue on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
Cloverleaf on Friday in a news release said the NVIDIA investment will enable the company "to help its customers and utility partners meet increasing demand for accelerated computing." The companies will work together "to advance the foundational infrastructure needed to support AI factory development," according to the release. Cloverleaf already has a large AI development pipeline, and has "delivered multiple GW-scale projects to customers across North America," according to the company.

Given Oracle's (ORCL) strong growth and low valuation, along with the fact that it's benefiting a great deal from the ongoing AI revolution, Oracle's stock looks like a good buy for both value investors and growth investors. What's more, renowned investor Paul Tudor Jones acquired a sizable position in ORCL stock last quarter, while multiple, well-known investment banks and Zacks, a prominent research firm, are upbeat on the shares.
In Oracle's fiscal fourth quarter that ended in May, its revenue jumped 21% versus the same period a year earlier to $19.2 billion, while its earnings per share, excluding certain items, soared 24% year-over-year (YoY) to $2.11. Moreover, propelled largely by the AI Boom, its total cloud revenue climbed 47% YoY to $9.9 billion. Also noteworthy was that its remaining performance obligations (RPO), which include preferred revenue and backlog, jumped 363% YoY to a very impressive $638 billion.

CAIRO/WASHINGTON, Aug 24 (Reuters) - The U.S. threatened Iran with what it called "the greatest financial offensive ever marshalled" as it prepared to roll out economic sanctions on Monday that target Iran's trade partners.
Iran in turn vowed to shut down all oil exports from the Gulf "if the economic war continues."
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. EDT (1800 GMT) on Monday amid promises to reveal even more severe measures on a country that has endured near-continuous economic sanctions since the Islamic Revolution of 1979.
"At dawn begins an economic D-Day — the single greatest financial offensive ever marshalled against an adversary," Bessent wrote in an opinion piece published in the Financial Times on Sunday.

As founder of the hedge fund company Appaloosa Management, David Tepper has built a reputation for bold, often contrarian bets -- particularly in distressed ***** ets. Investors monitor his moves closely because his track record includes legendary gains even during the toughest economic cycles.
New 13F filings reveal that during the second quarter, Appaloosa sold its entire position in Sandisk (NASDAQ: SNDK) while initiating a new stake in Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO). These moves offer a window into how Tepper is navigating the current chapter of the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution.
Continue »
Sandisk produces NAND flash memory, the high-speed storage technology that powers solid-state drives (SSDs). In the AI infrastructure era, these products have become indispensable because AI data centers require vast amounts of fast, dense storage to hold training data and inference workloads. AI-driven demand has fueled NAND prices sharply in recent quarters, shifting Sandisk's revenue mix toward enterprise data center customers. Revenue and margins are expanding dramatically as sales surge and pricing power returns to the storage specialist.
Filings show that Tepper initiated the Sandisk position during the first quarter of 2026 and subsequently exited completely sometime in the second quarter. While exact entry and exit prices are private, the timing alone implies substantial gains.

Burry re-established his bearish position with March 2027 $100 puts on Palantir, trading at $175, implying a 99%-plus collapse.
Palantir's Q2 numbers undercut Burry's thesis, with revenue up 93%, U.S. commercial sales up 149%, and $1.22 billion in free cash flow.
For Burry to win, Palantir's government moat, commercial growth, and cash generation would all need to simultaneously collapse, but the data does not show that happening.

The stock market has never had trouble producing extreme opinions, particularly when investors are trying to put a value on companies at the center of a technological revolution. Artificial intelligence has made that problem even harder. Some investors see a once-in-a-generation transformation that will create enormous pools of profits. Others see a speculative cycle in which today's growth rates eventually collide with tomorrow's valuation reality.

A teenager from County Down hopes an app he has developed will revolutionise how farms are run, giving hard-pressed farmers more time.
Ben O'Connor, 16, was inspired when his family's farm near Castlewellan moved from beef to a dairy operation.
That meant longer hours, strict routine and more tasks to schedule, all of which reduced the time his family had together.
The entrepreneur had previously developed a mail order gift business at the age of 13. After selling that last year, he turned his talents to managing farm tasks.
FarmFlow is now being trialled on several farms across the UK and Ireland. He hopes to roll out the app, which targets the farm paperwork burden, alongside his studies.

Scorebug mafia, rise up.
ESPN has soft launched a new scorebug and graphics package during this evening's preseason game between the Las Vegas Raiders and Houston Texans that will largely resemble what NFL fans will see during February's Super Bowl, the first to ever air on ESPN.
"As part of our ongoing commitment to elevate our fan experience, we are excited to soft launch a brand new graphics and animation package that will culminate with our first-ever Super Bowl," an ESPN spokesperson told Awful Announcing regarding the new bug.
The restyling is largely in line with ESPN's rebrand ahead of the launch of its direct-to-consumer product a year ago. There is emphasis on the network's black and red color scheme. The bug's font features the seven-degree angle by which the "E" in the ESPN logo is oriented. And the curvature of the "N" is featured in the top-right portion of the bug.
Overall, the new scorebug is inoffensive. ESPN goes with using the team logos over any abbreviations. Down and distance are centered with the game clock and play clock. Timeouts are displayed prominently under each team's score. There's nothing revolutionary going on, but there was no need to reinvent the wheel in the first place.

An insight into the plans of those in a position of power at La Liga champions Barcelona to register the club's crop of summer signings for action in Spain's top-flight has come to the fore online.
This of course comes fresh off a busy couple of days on the incomings front at the Spotify Camp Nou…
Over the last 48 hours alone, Hansi Flick has seen his squad reinforced courtesy of a pair of high-profile additions. First through the door was Manchester City midfielder Rodri, followed in short order by João Cancelo's return from Al-Hilal.
These two add to previous deals for Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, amid something of a squad revolution in Catalunya's capital this summer.
As of this moment, however, none of the aforementioned quartet are registered to take to the pitch in league play… Just days out from Barcelona's La Liga season opener against Elche, Hansi Flick and his staff are technically unable to call on any of Rodri, Cancelo, Gordon or Adeyemi.

LAND O' LAKES, Fla. (AP) — Bill Rasmussen, who co-founded ESPN in 1979 after being fired from a public relations job in the World Hockey ******* ociation, died Tuesday. He was 93.
ESPN historian Mike Soltys said Rasmussen died at his Florida home from the effects of Parkinson's disease. Rasmussen announced in 2019 that he had been diagnosed with the degenerative disease in 2014.
"Bill was a remarkable man — a visionary and an innovator who conceived the idea of a network entirely devoted to sports," ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro said in a statement. "Quite simply, none of us would be here today if it wasn't for Bill's passion and all the hard work and entrepreneurial spirit he put into building ESPN in the late 1970s — key aspects of our company culture that still carry on to this day."
Rasmussen and his son Scott came up with the idea of a network carrying sports around the clock, and it would revolutionize Americans' TV-watching habits. But the pair didn't stick around long. They were forced out after only a year by ESPN majority owner Getty Oil.
Bill Rasmussen's original idea was a cable channel covering only Connecticut sports. Many cable operators in the state were skeptical, but someone suggested buying satellite time to reach a national audience.

Last season, the Premier League was arguably more competitive than it has been for years.
While the 65 points between champions ******* nal and bottom side Wolves was around the average for a 38-game season (63), a real revolution took place in mid-table.
Since the league was reduced to 20 teams in 1995-96, the gap between the top four and the bottom three – between what has often been the Champions League and the Championship – had been increasing as the seasons went by, with the 'bigger' clubs profiting from their European adventures and the extra money they earned by regularly finishing higher in the table.
But last season, the gap between the 'haves' and the 'have-nots' of the Premier League dropped from 44 points in 2024-25 to just 26 points – the smallest distance for 23 years (since 25 points in 2002-03).
The European places were more attainable than they had been for years. Despite taking a point fewer than when they finished seventh the season before, Aston Villa clinched Champions League qualification by finishing two places higher.
