California Gov. Gavin Newsom does not like being on Donald Trump's side on any issue.
But when it comes to transgender girls and women in sports, particularly at the school level, the Democrat said he largely agrees with the Republican president. Newsom, one of his party's leading White House prospects, believes it's "deeply unfair" for people who are ***** igned male at birth to compete against girls.
"I don't want to be on that side of it, but I'm being honest — I'd be lying to you if I said differently," Newsom told The ***** ociated Press as he was campaigning recently in South Carolina. "I haven't been able to figure out how to make it fair from my perspective."

HSBC Holdings plc (NYSE:HSBC) is winding down its transaction services business in Germany, with more than 300 positions at HSBC Transaction Services GmbH and HSBC Service Company Germany GmbH expected to be phased out by 2028. Tommy McMillen and Marwan Rahiki turned in one of the best featherweight fights ever earlier today (Sat., Sept. 12, 2026) at Noche UFC 4 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, as the two prospects stood toe-to-toe and unleashed everything they had.
Both fighters came into this fight with something to prove. For McMillen, it was his chance to prove he's the real deal at 145 pounds and not just an exciting fighter from the Contender Series. For Rahiki, he was out to showcase his own potential in the UFC's talent-rich featherweight division and that he should get a bigger push from matchmakers instead of McMillen. It was a recipe for unfiltered chaos and that's exactly what fight fans witnessed.
The first round was a back-and-forth affair full of combinations and exchanges in close. McMillen showcased some of his wrestling along the way, but Rahiki did well to get back to his feet. The second round was even crazier as Rahiki landed a massive uppercut that sent McMillen crashing to the canvas. Rahiki chased McMillen all over the cage in search of a finish, but "Gun" somehow survived. It was a true testament to McMillen's heart, toughness, and elite cardio.
McMillen returned the favor in the third round when he regained momentum with a huge knockdown in the center of the Octagon. From there, McMillen was on cruise control. He attacked with chokes, combinations in the clinch, knees inside, and all-out pressure. Rahiki was fading for sure, but he somehow hung in long enough to hear the final buzzer sound. EL SEGUNDO -- The Los Angeles Kings held a practice in preparation for the 2026 Rookie Faceoff today at Toyota Sports Performance Center.
The Rookie Faceoff is an annual event held every year before the start of the season for some of the top prospects on certain teams, and one of many such events held throughout the NHL. This year's Rookie Faceoff takes place from Sep. 12-15 in San Jose, and will feature the Kings, Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche and Utah Mammoth. Although many of the players involved will not play in the NHL this season, these events still unofficially kick off the 2026-27 campaign.
"There's definitely a feeling of, 'We're really representing the organization out of the gates to start the year,'" said Ontario Reign head coach Andrew Lord, who will lead the Rookie Faceoff team. "Yes, it's a rookie tournament … but we're representing the team."
The Kings' roster is highlighted by a handful of players, including 2025 first-round pick Henry Brzustewicz, 2025 second-round pick Vojtech Cihar, and top goalie prospects Carter George and Hampton Slukynsky. While playing together as a team, each individual player is also looking to stand out and prove themselves to the front office and the coaching staff.
"You can't worry too much about that," Slukynsky said. "Just focus on yourself and doing what you can do and controlling what you can control. Obviously, we're all competing with each other, but it's good that we push each other and we support each other and help each other get better, but everybody wants to play and compete. The Rookie Faceoff is an annual event held every year before the start of the season for some of the top prospects on certain teams, and one of many such events held throughout the NHL. This year's Rookie Faceoff takes place from Sep. 12-15 in San Jose, and will feature the Kings, Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche and Utah Mammoth. Although many of the players involved will not play in the NHL this season, these events still unofficially kick off the 2026-27 campaign.
"There's definitely a feeling of, 'We're really representing the organization out of the gates to start the year,'" said Ontario Reign head coach Andrew Lord, who will lead the Rookie Faceoff team. "Yes, it's a rookie tournament … but we're representing the team."
The Kings' roster is highlighted by a handful of players, including 2025 first-round pick Henry Brzustewicz, 2025 second-round pick Vojtech Cihar, and top goalie prospects Carter George and Hampton Slukynsky. While playing together as a team, each individual player is also looking to stand out and prove themselves to the front office and the coaching staff.
"You can't worry too much about that," Slukynsky said. "Just focus on yourself and doing what you can do and controlling what you can control. Obviously, we're all competing with each other, but it's good that we push each other and we support each other and help each other get better, but everybody wants to play and compete. So it's been good and it's fun to compete with all these guys."

Today is the day of the first on-ice activity for the Colorado Avalanche in the 2026-27 season. A group of 25 rookies are gathering at Family Sports Center at 9:00 a.m. for a one-day practice before they head off to San Jose, Calif. for the annual rookie tournament.

All eyes will be on goaltender Ilya Nabokov and forward TJ Hughes who might even make an impact on the Avalanche this year.

Reuters reported that H.B. Fuller Company (NYSE:FUL) said its board unanimously rejected activist investor Ancora Holdings Group's unsolicited proposal to acquire its Building Adhesives Solutions (BAS) business for between $1.1 billion and $1.2 billion.
The board said the offer "significantly undervalues" BAS, is "substantially below precedent transactions," and ignores the unit's growth prospects, according to the company's statement. H.B. Fuller noted BAS delivered 6% organic growth year over year in the second quarter and said a carve-out would create "significant dis-synergies" since BAS shares manufacturing operations with the company's other businesses across more than 30 plants worldwide. The board also said Ancora's proposal "lacks key details needed to demonstrate" its ability to execute the deal. Ancora's activist campaign against H.B. Fuller began in May, initially opposing the company's acquisition of UK-based Advanced Medical Solutions Group.
H.B. Fuller Company (NYSE:FUL)'s valuation argument has support from BAS's recent performance and growth prospects. BAS delivered 6% organic sales growth and 10% EBITDA growth in the second quarter, while H.B. Fuller expects the business to become a significant earnings driver as construction markets recover and data-center demand grows. At UFC Fight Night 286 in Shanghai, Tsuruya (12-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) showed why he was heavily favored as he quickly drowned and tapped opponent Kevin Borjas (11-6 MMA, 2-5 UFC), winning the bout in 4:14 by rear-naked choke.
"I am simply happy, with my performance and the outcome," Tsuruya recently told MMA Junkie through a translator. "Two straight finishes in the first round, it really gives me confidence moving forward in my career with the UFC. For now, I am happy, and back to work. ... I was confident that I could dominate on the ground. My body reacted on its own and was making that takedown."
Tsuruya, 24, is viewed by many experts as one of the flyweight division's most promising prospects, particularly given his age and ability to finish fights. His stock has risen even further, as the only man to defeat him, Joshua Van, now hold UFC flyweight gold.
"I believe I am capable of being at the top of the division," Tsuruya said. "It's also a lot about luck, timing and the matchups you get, but I'm doing everything I can to develop my skills and be ready for whatever is next."
