PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Richwoods had a big comeback win against Mohamet-Seymour in flag football, avenging a one-point loss from last season. The Bulldogs led the Knights 22-18 with six minutes left in the game, but Richwoods scored a pair of late touchdowns. The go ahead touchdown game with Anjaliyah Adams for the go ahead touchdown to put the Knights up 24-22 and then Acosia Morris would put the game away in the final minute with a rushing touchdown as Richwoods defeated Mahomet-Seymour 30-22.
In other flag football action Normal Community had a big 19-12 win over Joliet Catholic. Bailey Engel continued to chuck the ball all over the gridiron as she had a couple more touchdown passes.
In volleyball Limestone was at the Lincoln Invitational looking to win the tournament for the second consecutive year, but the Rockets fell in three sets to O'Fallon.
Washington competed in the Williamsville Invitational where the Panthers took down the host school in straight sets.
Peoria High hosted the First To The Finish cross country meet that saw more than 200 schools and nearly 5,000 runners competing. In the girls class 1A run Stark County's Dusti Smith finished in second place while Eureka was the team champ. On the boys side Stark County's Evan **** loch was the star as he finished in first place with a time of 14 minutes and 57 seconds.

NASCAR ejected two car chiefs Saturday after a pair of Cup Series cars failed pre-race inspection twice at World Wide Technology Raceway.
Buescher's No. 17 RFK Racing Ford and Cody Ware's No. 51 Rick Ware Racing Chevrolet each required three trips through inspection before being cleared. The two failures resulted in the ejection of No. 17 car chief Joshua Sisco and No. 51 car chief Dave Jones for the remainder of the race weekend.
Both teams also lost their pit-stall selection for Sunday's Enjoy Illinois 300, leaving them with the final available stalls on pit road regardless of where their drivers qualified.
The consequences stop there, however. Both cars passed inspection on their third attempts, avoiding the additional penalties that would have come with another failure.

For the 73rd time, Iowa and Iowa State will meet on the gridiron on Saturday. Iowa owns a 46-25 advantage in the all-time series, but the Hawkeyes are looking to put a stop to a two-game Iowa State winning streak in the rivalry.

FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE:FE), through its Potomac Edison subsidiary, proposed a $52.8 million Maryland distribution-rate adjustment to support investment in aging infrastructure, grid modernization and electric-system reliability. If approved, the request would increase the average residential customer's monthly bill by approximately 5.3%.
Potomac Edison said its electric rates were 25% below the average of its in-state peers as of June 1. The utility expects its residential rates to remain the lowest among Maryland's investor-owned electric utilities even after the proposed adjustment.
The proposed reliability program includes Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition technology, replacement of substation reclosers, new circuit ties and automation, overhead-conductor upgrades, aging underground-cable replacement and removal of high-risk trees near power lines. The Maryland Public Service Commission must review and approve the request before any adjustment can take effect.
The proposal connects the requested revenue to specific reliability investments. SCADA technology can give operators greater visibility into system conditions, while reclosers, circuit ties, and automation can isolate problems and reroute electricity. These capabilities can reduce the number of customers affected by outages and shorten restoration times.
Reconductoring, underground-cable replacement and vegetation management address physical causes of service interruptions. The investments could also improve resilience during severe weather, potentially lowering emergency-response costs and reducing the disruption experienced by customers.

Potomac Edison said its electric rates were 25% below the average of its in-state peers as of June 1. The utility expects its residential rates to remain the lowest among Maryland's investor-owned electric utilities even after the proposed adjustment.
The proposed reliability program includes Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition technology, replacement of substation reclosers, new circuit ties and automation, overhead-conductor upgrades, aging underground-cable replacement and removal of high-risk trees near power lines. The Maryland Public Service Commission must review and approve the request before any adjustment can take effect.
The proposal connects the requested revenue to specific reliability investments. SCADA technology can give operators greater visibility into system conditions, while reclosers, circuit ties, and automation can isolate problems and reroute electricity. These capabilities can reduce the number of customers affected by outages and shorten restoration times.
Reconductoring, underground-cable replacement and vegetation management address physical causes of service interruptions. The investments could also improve resilience during severe weather, potentially lowering emergency-response costs and reducing the disruption experienced by customers.

Auburn football hosts Southern Miss on Saturday for its 2026 home opener, with kickoff slated for 6:45 p.m. CT on SEC Network.

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem says it would be "not acceptable" for Fernando Alonso to leave Formula 1 while he is in an uncompetitive position.
The 45-year-old two-time world champion is out of contract with Aston Martin at the end of this season and on Thursday said his decision on whether to stay in F1 would be made "not soon".
Aston Martin are 10th in the championship so far this season after producing an uncompetitive car, while engine partner Honda's power-unit is the least powerful on the grid.
Ben Sulayem, the head of motorsport's governing body, said at an event in Madrid on Friday: "There is no way we can allow Fernando to leave - Alonso, a great champion - to leave just because of the circumstances.
"That's not the way to leave the stage. He has to be successful and then he leaves whenever he wants, not because he was forced to leave because of the performance."

Oklo (NYSE: OKLO), a developer of microreactors for nuclear power plants, has been a divisive stock since its market debut. After going public through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) on May 10, 2024, Oklo started trading at $15.50 per share.

The Aurora also uses metallic uranium fuel pellets, which are denser, have higher thermal resistance, and are cheaper to produce than the uranium dioxide fuel pellets that power conventional reactors. By recycling its pellets in a closed loop, the Aurora can last for a decade without refueling. Conventional reactors are still refueled in stages every two years.

On September 2, NetApp Inc. (NASDAQ:NTAP) reported its Q1 FY27 results, posting record quarterly net revenue of $2.03 billion. Topline for the Intelligent Data Infrastructure company expanded by 30% compared to the first quarter in FY26. The quarter saw a broad-based growth across its core segments, resulting in a record adjusted earnings per share of $2.58, and a quarterly cash dividend of $0.52 per share. The company also strengthened its existing engagements with major players, covering a range of underlying functions.
During the first quarter, all-flash array net revenue went up 47% year-over-year, hitting a record $1.3 billion mark. This drove the overall net revenue for its Hybrid Cloud segment to $1.8 billion, translating into a 30% year-over-year growth. Public Cloud, which accounts for a smaller chunk of the business, saw its net revenue climb by 28%, also setting a record of $206 million. NetApp's total billings clocked in at $2.06 billion, exhibiting a 36% growth compared to Q1 FY26, while its non-GAAP operating margin reached 31.9%.
During the quarter, NetApp finalized the acquisition of an AI-enabled data infrastructure business, DataPelago. The deal is aimed toward facilitating customers streamline and accelerate large-scale AI deployments. On the product front, the company launched StorageGRID 12.1, to support scaling of AI workload through a federated global namespace. It also introduced Instaclustr for its fully managed Model Context Protocol Gateway, along with enhanced support for Azure NetApp Files up to 64 TiB.
NetApp also revealed new features for NetApp Trident software 26.06. These include deeper integration of OpenShift Virtualization, non-disruptive iSCSI rebalancing, efficient volume placement, and additional cloud support.
Despite encouraging numbers reported during the quarter, the free cash flows settled at $401 million. This was a 35% drop compared to figures reported for Q1 FY26. Additionally, NetApp remains heavily dependent on its Hybrid Cloud business, which generated roughly 90% of quarterly revenue, while Public Cloud still contributes a relatively small fraction of the topline despite growing 28% during the recent quarter. This leads to concerns regarding how much of the company's growth story is truly cloud-native compared to conventional on-premises hardware refresh cycles that are strongly tied to AI infrastructure investments. For the underlying all-flash arrays, such AI-linked demand trend could prove to be front-loaded or cyclical in case enterprise capital expenditure decelerates.

The competitive field to build out the tech infrastructure to ease the use of alternative investments in the wealth channel just got a little more crowded as New York-based fintech Aqua announced a $18.8 million Series A to back what it's calling a turnkey alternative investments platform.
The AI-native platform seeks to be a single solution that brings fund creation, operational workflows, investment lifecycle management, marketplace access, document intelligence and investor servicing into a single environment. In addition to managing off-the-shelf private market funds, advisors using Aqua can build special purpose vehicles, registered funds, fund of funds and feeder funds.
The $15 million Series A, led by Arthur Ventures with participation from Alumni Ventures, follows a 2021 $3.8 million seed round backed by Google's AI Fund, Y Combinator. It plans to use the funding to accelerate business and platform development, expand its engineering and partnership teams, and deepen integrations across custodians and fund sponsors. (The firm started as a team of six, but now has two dozen employees and it plans to continue to staff up as it onboards more advisors and fund managers.)
To be sure, Aqua is far from alone in attempting to streamline the alternative investments process. The **** e continues to be led by well-known players iCapital and CAIS, which service thousands of wealth firms through their marketplaces, and each has continued to add tech to support the lifecycle of alternative investments. HELSINKI, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Alphabet's Google will invest at least €13 billion ($15.1 billion) in artificial intelligence infrastructure in Finland over the next two years, it said on Wednesday, calling it the company's single largest investment in Europe.
Finland has become a magnet for data centres as companies including Microsoft and TikTok owner ByteDance seek to reduce energy costs and meet climate goals.
Its cold climate makes coping with the heat produced by data centres cheaper and it also has large amounts of low-carbon electricity.
Alphabet this year increased its global investment to between $195 billion and $205 billion as it seeks to capture growing computing demand.
The investments in Finland will include data centres, electricity grid improvements and clean energy and battery projects driving services such as Gemini, Search, Maps and YouTube, Google said in a statement.

Arcosa, Inc. (NYSE:ACA) shareholders approved the proposed acquisition by CRH plc (NYSE:CRH) on September 4. The merger agreement received 39,595,867 votes in favor, compared with 66,113 against and 16,786 abstentions. Approximately 39.7 million shares, representing 80.8% of shares outstanding as of the record date, were present or represented by proxy.
The vote satisfies a major condition for the all-cash transaction. CRH plc (NYSE:CRH) agreed to pay $150 per share, valuing Arcosa, Inc. (NYSE:ACA) at an enterprise value of approximately $8.5 billion. The companies continue to expect a first-quarter 2027 closing, subject to required regulatory approvals and other customary conditions.
CRH plc (NYSE:CRH) described the valuation as 11.5 times estimated 2026 adjusted EBITDA, a company-defined non-GAAP measure, including $175 million of targeted annual run-rate cost synergies expected by year three. CRH plc (NYSE:CRH) defines adjusted EBITDA as earnings from continuing operations before interest, taxes, depreciation, depletion and amortization, with exclusions for impairments, divestitures and investments, equity-method results, substantial acquisition costs and specified pension items.
The result removes the principal seller-side approval risk. The merger no longer depends on another shareholder meeting, and support was decisive among the shares represented. Financing appears less exposed than regulatory clearance: CRH plc (NYSE:CRH) plans to use available cash and committed debt financing, while completion is not subject to a financing condition.
The strategic rationale is tangible. Arcosa, Inc. (NYSE:ACA) would add 109 quarries and yards, nine asphalt plants, 19 terminals and approximately 35 million tons of 2025 aggregates shipments. CRH plc (NYSE:CRH) expects more than 265 million tons of combined annualized aggregates production. Arcosa, Inc. (NYSE:ACA) also brings engineered structures serving grid modernization, electrification and data-center construction.
