Round 18 of the 2026 Formula 1 season heads to the Circuit of the Americas for the United States Grand Prix, from 23-25 October.
In the previous race in Singapore, it was a dominant weekend for Max Verstappen who qualified on pole and won for both the sprint and main race - his first victories at the Marina Bay Circuit.
The Ferraris were consistently on the Dutchman's tail for the majority of the weekend, but a poor strategy call from Lewis Hamilton meant he could only finish sixth. His team-mate Charles Leclerc finished second with Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli third.
Antonelli has his first opportunity to secure this year's world **** le in Austin. For that to happen, the Italian must win the race with Mercedes team-mate Russell ninth or lower and Hamilton finishing fifth or lower.
The clocks go back in the UK on race day so we will be on BST for the Friday and Saturday sessions but GMT for the race.

15-straight games. 398 days without a win. 685 days without a win over an FBS program.
The Charlotte 49ers marinated in futility for over a year, owning the nation's longest losing streak with little hope in sight. Last season, all 11 losses came by at least 11 points. This season, they were coming off back-to-back 40-point losses and dropped an opener to The Citadel — an FCS program that is 1-4 against its FCS peers this season.
It didn't seem like a matter of when Charlotte was going to win in 2026, rather, it was if that elusive triumph would even occur this season. But before a road trip to Philadelphia, Charlotte head coach Tim Albin took inspiration from the Rocky franchise, texting each of his individual players the following quote from the 2006 film Rocky Balboa:
"It ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward."
Charlotte had been hit, but it got up, and now, it's over. The streak is indeed over. The Charlotte 49ers won a college football game. On the road. In an NFL venue.

Halle Berry spent Sunday with her son, Maceo, before asking a Los Angeles judge to restore the parenting arrangement she previously shared with ex-husband Olivier Martinez. Her request, filed Monday, Oct. 5, seeks a return to their 2023 agreement for 50/50 custody, Entertainment Weekly reported.
A temporary restraining order issued Oct. 1 changed Berry's parenting time but allowed her to continue seeing her son during specified daytime hours. The order covered both Martinez and Maceo, according to records reviewed by PEOPLE.
Martinez sought protection after alleging that Berry physically attacked Maceo during a Sept. 26 dispute. Her attorney, Marina Beck, denied his account and called the filing "entirely meritless and deliberately misleading."
Berry, 60, was accompanied on the Oct. 4 visit by her fiancé, musician Van Hunt. They spent time together one day before Maceo's 13th birthday.
An eyewitness told PEOPLE that Berry chatted with Maceo at a Los Angeles Sky Zone before he joined an indoor soccer game. She and Hunt watched from nearby. When a fan approached for a selfie, Berry declined because she was spending time with her child. TMZ also published BACKGRID footage of the trio shopping at Best Buy that day.

Olivier Martinez has been granted a temporary restraining order against his ex-wife, Halle Berry.
On Thursday, editors at TMZ reported that the French actor had filed legal documents in which he alleged his former partner had physically attacked their 12-year-old son Maceo last month.
Martinez, 60, alleged it was not an isolated incident and that Berry had also threatened to have him deported to France.
Later in the day, a Los Angeles County judge granted the Unfaithful star the order, requiring Berry to stay 100 yards (91 metres) from him until the next hearing takes place on 16 October.
They also limited the times the Oscar-winning actress can see Maceo.
A short time after the filing became public, Berry's lawyer, Marina Beck, issued a statement to People in which she denied the allegations.

MIDDLETOWN - There are plenty of words that a veteran football coach like Xavier High School's Sean Marinan would like to hear his starting quarterback say in the season opener. It's safe to say that "hyper" would be pretty far down the list.
However, Maxwell Murphy summarized the forgettable opening quarter perfectly for the host Falcons. Once the nervous energy went away, Xavier took control en route to a 27-2 win over East Haven on Friday night.
"We started off a little hyper," Murphy said. "I was hyper in the first quarter, but we responded really well. Our defense looked great and I think our offense responded well."
Murphy threw two of his three touchdown passes in the second quarter to get the Falcons going. The defense took care of the rest.
East Haven scored first when a high snap on a punt by Xavier sailed out of the end zone. It was still a 2-0 game before Murphy connected with Eli Halvorsen on a 17-yard touchdown pass.

In Roads to Retirement: Act I – The Journey Begins, Jeff Snyder sets the stage for a thoughtful exploration of what retirement really means by introducing two people whose lives could not look more different. One is an artist in Marin who has chosen a simple, creative life living on a sailboat and staying grounded in what matters most. The other is a Northern California firefighter working hard to build stability and opportunity for his growing family.
Jeffrey Snyder, Broadcast Retirement Network
Hello everyone, I'm Jeff Snyder. I've devoted over two decades of my life helping Americans across this country save and plan for their financial future. I'm starting out on a journey to educate Americans and help get people in this country saving.
Join me as we go on the roads to retirement. Marin County is one of the top five richest counties in the United States, but it's also home to artists, shipbuilders, and tax-free, anchor-out citizens who avoid rent by settling in the open waters of Richardson Bay. Sean here pays his rent and makes a decent home of his 25-foot shoreliner with his loyal first mate and unassuming guard dog, Oscar.
It's really a beautiful location you live at. This marina is wonderful, real serene, quiet.

Smriti Mandhana's record-breaking 124 and a clinical bowling effort helped India crush Hong Kong by 137 runs in their Women's Asia Cup 2026 clash in Dubai. After posting 193/5, India bowled Hong Kong out for just 56 in 16.2 overs to seal a massive win and book their place in the semi-finals.
Hong Kong won the toss and elected to field, but Mandhana quickly put their decision under pressure. The India opener and Shafali Verma gave their side a strong start, with Verma smashing 28 off 17 ***** before departing.
Wickets began to fall regularly after the opening stand, but Mandhana continued to attack from one end. She reached her half-century in 40 ***** before dramatically increasing the tempo, bringing up her century in just 57 deliveries.
Mandhana finished with a sensational 124 off 64 ***** , hitting 14 fours and seven sixes at a strike rate of 193.75. The innings took her to 18 international centuries, moving her past Meg Lanning's tally of 17 and making her the leading century-maker in women's international cricket.
She also broke Chamari Athapaththu's record for the highest individual score in Women's T20 Asia Cup history, surpassing the Sri Lankan's unbeaten 119.
Mandhana's innings eventually ended in the final over when she was run out after a mix-up with Bharti Fulmali. Her dismissal, however, came after she had already powered India to a formidable 193/5.
Hong Kong's chase never got going as India's spin-heavy attack strangled the batting lineup from the beginning. They slipped to 32/3 and struggled to score freely against India's disciplined bowling.
Deepti Sharma led the attack with 3/9 from three overs, removing key batters Natasha Miles and Yasmin Daswani while keeping the scoring rate under control. Prema Rawat, Nandani Sharma and Shree Charani then continued to chip away at the Hong Kong batting order.
Marina Lamplough offered some resistance with 14, but Shree Charani eventually removed her before the lower order folded quickly. Nandani Sharma claimed two wickets, while Prema Rawat finished with two as India's spinners kept the pressure on.
Hong Kong were eventually bowled out for just 56 in 16.2 overs. Shree Charani completed the victory by stumping Shanzeen Shahzad after a sharp piece of work from Richa Ghosh.

Pape Matar Sarr hasn't been seen in a Tottenham shirt since preseason and there are plenty of rumors that both he and the club are looking for an exit from N17. According to Sky Sports France's Sascha Tavolieri, the club making a late push for Sarr is none other than our good friends Nottingham Forest.
Previous rumors suggested that Sarr had preferred a move to Monaco, which as a French speaking Senegalese dude makes a ton of sense and would be a good move for him. Tavolieri writes that the Monaco interest is real, but unlikely to happen before the last week of the season and is contingent on Monaco offloading American striker Folarin Balogun first. But staying in the Premier League would have its advantages as well.
The whole kerfluffle over Morgan Gibbs-White last summer seemingly hasn't dimmed Tottenham's relationship with Forest THAT much if they're still considering a a deal. A loan plus an option isn't the best outcome for Tottenham, but it beats keeping Sarr around if he's not going to play that much, which feels like the case. Honestly, Forest wouldn't be a terrible club for Sarr to land at — he's likely going to get more playing time there and Oliver Glasner is a pretty good coach with good midfield ideas. No guarantee that Forest's mobster-boss owner Evangelos Marinakis wouldn't sack Glasner in a fit of rage after three consecutive losses, either.
Tavolieri writes that Spurs are asking €25m (£21.5m) for Sarr, which is what caused Galatasaray to back down after they offered €18m. That's well within the budgets of both Monaco and Forest (especially Forest). It could come down to where Sarr ultimately wants to go. But at this point it's looking very likely that he WILL go. Somewhere.

Lady Marina Windsor is not your average royal — and she certainly does not dress like your average royal. As the great-great-granddaughter of King George V and Queen Mary of Teck, Marina is somewhat distantly related to Queen Elizabeth II. Marina's grandfather — Prince Edward, Duke of Kent — was the late queen's first cousin. This means that Elizabeth was Marina's first cousin twice removed.
While Marina's connection to royalty is undeniable, it's also not particularly strong. The late queen never considered Marina a member of her inner circle. The young aristocrat has never served the crown as a full-time working royal. What's more, Marina actually forfeited her place in the line of succession as a result of her dedication to Roman Catholicism — the religion of her Canadian-born mother.
The unusual combination of Marina's royal bloodline and her relative distance from the throne has given her a unique sartorial opportunity. While Marina does occasionally have to embrace some royal fashion rules, she also has the chance to push the bounds of what is considered acceptable clothing for women of her rank. By playing with bright colors, floral patterns, and more traditional cuts, Marina has developed a sense of style that defies all expectations. Rather than follow trends, the aristocrat has made a fashion category all of her own.

Nottingham Forest went into last season with high hopes of building on a productive 2024/25 campaign. It would be fair to say that things did not go to plan.
Owner Evangelos Marinakis ploughed through four different managers during a season which nearly ended with relegation to the Championship.
Former Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has now been tasked with guiding Forest back up the table. Given what has gone before, he is on a hiding to nothing.
With that in mind, read on as we ******* s whether Glasner can succeed where others have failed.

TORONTO — The standard 5 o'clock pedestrian traffic of financiers in suits featured pops of red and No. 22 jerseys in the Entertainment District on Tuesday night. The promenade at Scotiabank Arena was populated with even more two hours before tip-off.
The Indiana Fever show touched down across the border for the first time and hit all of its typical beats. The game moved to a larger NBA-sized arena filled to the brim at an announced sellout of 19,300. Fans waited in line longer than even Caitlin Clark herself thinks she would consider. And attention honed in on the visitors, with fans giddy at the arrival of the league's most talked-about team.
"It is a spectacle sometimes," Fever head coach Stephanie White said. "But when it's time to play, it's time to play."
No steam was lost in this trip up north, despite the Fever reaching for another beat they'd rather not. The final minutes were made more scintillating than needed after Indiana allowed a 17-point lead to fade, and Tempo guard Marina Mabrey drained back-to-back 3s to pull within four. It was as close as the game had been since the start of the third quarter.
But the Fever held on, and are now riding a five-game win streak with their magic number to clinch a playoff spot at two. They are playing their best basketball in the recent stretch, led again by their big 3 of Clark (24 points, 7 ******* ists), Kelsey Mitchell (29 points) and Aliyah Boston (16). Mitchell extended her streak of 20-plus point games to 20, tying the league record, but missed the fourth quarter. White said all indications are she "got overheated" in their second straight game played in an arena set closer to the temperature of an actual fever.

Saturday's Red-Blue intrasquad scrimmage showed some of the promise of the 2026 Arizona Wildcats and answered some of the questions, but there were still some left open when the Red team emerged victorious in four sets (20-25, 27-25, 25-18, 15-10).
Red was superior in kills (56-35), hitting percentage (.181 to .109), and blocking (10.0 to 5.0). Both teams had four aces, but they struggled overall on serve.
The initial team lineups were made to be as competitive as possible. Neither team was dominated by presumed starters or returners from last year's team. After the second set, the roster was shaken up where more of the returners and presumed starters were stacked on the Blue team, but that didn't slow down the Red squad.
The Blue team started with Carlie Cisneros and Payton Woods at outside hitter, Britt Carlson at opposite, Journey Tucker and Maya Flemister at middle blocker, Harmony Sample setting, and Brenna Ginder at libero.
Red featured Destiny Ndam-Simpson and Hayden Reeder on the left side, Kennedy Osunsanmi on the right, Mo Siapani at setter, Kristen Dear and Marina Vosloo at middle, and Brookelyn Hatton at libero.

The 2026 WNBA season continues to be a standout one for Notre Dame women's basketball alumnae, as Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride set a new league record Sunday, Aug. 9 for single-game 3-pointers with 10 in a 103-90 win against the Dallas Wings. The victory also helped the 27-7 Lynx become the first WNBA team to clinch a playoff spot this season.
McBride's barrage from beyond the arc moved her atop the leaderboard beyond a trio of fellow former Irish standouts in Toronto Tempo guard Marina Mabrey, Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale and Las Vegas Aces guard Jewell Loyd — as well as Aces guard Chelsea Gray, Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard and Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell — who are all tied for the previous record of nine 3-pointers in a game.
More: Marina Mabrey leads 5 former Notre Dame standouts at 2026 WNBA All-Star Game
Mabrey joined that club earlier this season during her WNBA record-tying 53-point game in June.
McBride's electric performance also gave her a new career high with 43 points, which places her tied with five others for 18th all-time for single-game scoring performances. McBride's previous season high in scoring was 37 points against the Phoenix Mercury in July, and her best 3-point scoring outburst this season was six, which happened in that same game against Phoenix then against the Seattle Storm just a week later.

The Minnesota Lynx became the first team in the WNBA this season to clinch a spot in the playoffs after securing a 103-90 win over the visiting Dallas Wings, Sunday, Aug. 9 in Minneapolis.
And the Lynx's top players are playing at their very best as the season winds down.
In the victory for Minnesota, Kayla McBride broke the WNBA record for most 3-pointers made in a single game by knocking down 10-of-14 shots from behind the arc. McBride, the 34-year-old veteran guard out of Notre Dame, scored a career-high 43 points in a win.
The previous record was nine 3-pointers in a single game, a mark that several players had achieved. Marina Mabrey of the Toronto Tempo and Chelsea Gray of the Las Vegas Aces did it most recently in games this season.
According to ESPN, McBride shot 8-of-9 off feeds from Olivia Miles against the Wings. McBride was also a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor when she was being guarded by Paige Bueckers. McBride broke the record when she caught a pass from teammate Napheesa Collier and fired a 3-pointer from the left corner in front of the Lynx bench.

Shams Charania: Sources tell me that the Wizards and Anthony Davis have mutually decided to table potential contract extension talks and revisit it and wait until they're into the regular season for that and see where the team is at. And one source described it to me as essentially an ability for both sides to allow the first twenty games or so to marinate and allow both sides to get to a decision on whether there will be a contract extension or not. Anthony Davis is eligible for a deal for years, up to two hundred and seventy five million dollars, but there are unanswered questions for both sides.

A series loss in Cincinnati and yet another injury blow will not deter the Pirates from buying at the trade deadline.
Despite falling a game below .500, the Pirates are looking to add more pieces to their roster ahead of the 6 p.m. ET buzzer, a source familiar with the situation told Pittsburgh Baseball Now.
The Pirates made a notable move on Saturday, when they acquired right-handed reliever Camilo Doval from the Yankees for a pair of prospects. Among the other additions Pittsburgh has made so far this month are infielder Jacob Gonzalez, left-hander Brandon Eisert and right-hander Ron Marinaccio. But it's not yet enough.
This is the second time general manager Ben Cherington has been looking to add pieces at the deadline and not subtract. The other was in 2024, and if the Pirates want to be serious contenders, they can't repeat what they did two years ago.
That year, the Pirates were teetering between buying and selling but entered the deadline a couple games over .500. To bolster its roster, Pittsburgh acquired infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa from the Blue Jays, outfielder Bryan De La Cruz from the Marlins and left-handed reliever Jalen Beeks from the Rockies.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — The San Francisco Giants are suspending payment to injured outfielder Harrison Bader after he aggravated his injured left foot during a scooter accident last weekend.
Bader has been out since late May dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. The team said the injury got worse following the accident early Sunday morning in San Francisco.
"Over the weekend, Harrison Bader was involved in an accident that has delayed Harrison's prior treatment timeline for plantar fasciitis and, unfortunately, his return to the field," Giants President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey said in a statement Friday. "We are still investigating the circumstances of the accident, but will be suspending payment to Harrison until he is able to resume performing services for the club."
Bader signed a two-year, $20.5 million contract with the Giants before this season that includes a $4.5 million base salary for this season. He is owed $1.42 million for the remainder of the season.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Bader was involved in a vehicle collision while riding his scooter around 2 a.m. Sunday morning in San Francisco's Marina District. He was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

San Francisco Giants outfielder Harrison Bader is done for the season due to a foot injury that wasn't helped by a late-night scooter accident last weekend.
Giants manager Tony Vitello told reporters Thursday that Bader is out for the rest of 2026, according to NBC Sports Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic. However, Vitello reportedly said that was already the case due to Bader's pre-existing case of left plantar fasciitis, rather than the scooter accident.
Vitello reportedly said the team was still sorting through the details of that accident.
A report from SFist provided new details earlier Thursday. Bader's accident reportedly occurred at around 2 a.m. on Sunday, when the 32-year-old crashed his scooter into a fire engine in the vicinity of Balboa Cafe, a popular bar in San Francisco's Marina District.
