Liverpool's pursuit of Bradley Barcola is moving with real purpose, with DaveOCKOP reporting that the club is ready to place a huge offer on the table for the Paris Saint-Germain winger. After the World Cup, attention inside Anfield appears to have sharpened quickly, and the 23-year-old has emerged as the leading attacking target.
The report states that Liverpool's chase "has heated up since the World Cup came to a close earlier this month", and that Barcola "quickly became the priority for the Reds" once Yan Diomande looked set for a different destination. That shift matters, because it suggests planning at senior level has already narrowed onto one preferred option.
There has been no shortage of noise around the numbers. Underneath that broad comeback is a more unique validation story for RNA interference in particular. On this day in 2023, Eliezer Mayenda completed his transfer to Sunderland from Sochaux for a fee believed to be just over €1 million. The French third-tier side retained a 25% sell-on clause. Mayenda had turned 18 in May and signed a five-year contract.
He made his senior debut for Sochaux in a cup game, coming on as a substitute at the age of 16 years, seven months and 10 days – the youngest player ever to do so. Five days later, on 2 February, he became the youngest player ever to sign a professional contract with the club.
Mayenda was loaned by Sunderland to Hibernian in February 2024, where he remained for the rest of the season. Upon his return to Wearside, he was reintegrated into the first-team squad ahead of the start of the 2024 – 25 Championship campaign.
His first Sunderland goals came in the second Championship match of the season, a 4 – 0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday, where he netted twice. The big man went on to make 37 appearances during the Championship campaign, as well as featuring in all three play-off matches. Having scored eight goals during the regular season, he then, of course, scored twice in the play-offs, including Sunderland's opening goal in the final. It's not a stretch to say that, without his contributions, Sunderland would not have been promoted to the Premier League in May 2025.
As the Premier League season got underway following promotion, Mayenda scored Sunderland's first goal of the campaign in the 3 – 0 opening-day victory over West Ham. Despite that flying start, opportunities became harder to come by. He made a further 19 league appearances, scoring just one more goal.

For most of this summer, Real Madrid have consistently been reported to be looking to sign a new player for the right wing position. For this purpose, the Merengues have been very strongly linked with the Bayern Munich forward Michael Olise, even though the Bavarians have made it clear that they are not going to sell the forward and Los Blancos themselves published an official statement to clarify that they are not negotiating with the player.
Still, conflicting reports have continued to emerge for the entirety of the summer regarding the Spanish giants and the French star, who also has had quite an impressive World Cup 2026 campaign. However, on Friday, news emerged of the Merengues' interest in another player, whose signing can permanently close the door on Olise's potential move to Real Madrid.

Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov signed a five-year contract extension with the Premier League club on Saturday.
Khusanov helped City win the FA Cup and League Cup last season, as well as finishing second in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old centre-back joined City from French side Lens in January 2025.
