The 2027 recruiting cycle still has a few months to go until the December signing period, but it feels like a majority of the top classes in the nation are set. Just two senior blue-chippers — according to the Rivals Industry Ranking — remain uncommitted, as of Sept. 8.
Things always move quick in the summer during official visit season, but this cycle has moved at a fervent pace since the beginning of the spring. While coaching changes, changes of heart and other factors will lead to some flips down the stretch, for the most part, top recruits look locked into their respective pledges.

Almost every ACC recruiting headline this cycle has revolved around Miami. The Hurricanes have the nation's No. 3 class — per the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings — and are the only ACC program to have a top-15 class with the season underway.
There are some new head coaches in the league who are making a splash in their new digs, while some old faces are still trying to show they've got their fastball. Rivals is taking a look at the updated ACC class rankings, now that football is finally back:

For the third consecutive week, at least one player from the Weatherford College volleyball team has earned Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors.
Mirabel Onyegwu was named the NTJCAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Alena Lopez earned the Defensive Player of the Week award.
Onyegwu and Lopez are the third and fourth Coyotes to earn the honor this season, joining teammates Glorybell Puente (defensive, Week 1) and Beline Thibaut (offensive, Weeks 1 and 2).
Onyegwu, an outside hitter from Nigeria, played in 19 sets for WC last week. She recorded 65 kills on 161 attacks, averaging 3.4 kills and 3.5 points per set. She also logged 63 digs and 12 block ******* ists.
Lopez, a libero from Saginaw, also appeared in 19 sets for the Coyotes. She charted 68 digs, 21 ******* ists and three aces, averaging four digs per set.

CHICAGO (KSNT) — A star from the capital city led her squad to a historic victory.
Topeka-native and Washburn Rural alum Brooklyn DeLeye helped the Kentucky volleyball team grab a 3-1 win over Penn State in the inaugural Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge at Wrigley Field Sunday night.
DeLeye led the Wildcats in kills with 21 and was second on the team in digs with ten.
On Monday, the senior outside hitter was named the SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

The Kentucky Wildcats volleyball team faced another ranked team on Sunday night by taking on the 13th ranked Penn State Nittany Lions at Wrigley Field in Chicago. It could have been a tough match, but at the end of the night, the Cats stood tall, and got a fourth straight win 3-1 (25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 25-15).
Kentucky was led by Brooklyn DeLeye, who had 21 kills and a .319 hit percentage. Morgan Gaerte was right behind her with 16 kills of her own, and Asia Thigpen added 12 more.
The Wildcats also excelled on defense, totaling 23 blocks, with Lizzie Carr and Gaerte each posting 6 of them. Kennedy Washington added 5 blocks. They were also impressive all match at getting digs, with Molly Tuozzo out in front with 19. Kassie O'Brien had 48 ***** ists.
Next up for Kentucky is a match against North Carolina. They'll face off on Wednesday back at home in Lexington, with the match scheduled to begin at 6:00 P.M. ET.

Nebraska volleyball (4-0) will play in one of baseball's legendary venues on Sunday night. The Cornhuskers will face the Missouri Tigers in the Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs.
Since Volleyball Day in Nebraska in 2023, the Huskers have played in five different professional stadiums across the last four seasons. This match at Wrigley Field against Missouri is the sixth professional venue for the Huskers to play in since 2023.
This will be the 79th meeting all-time between these two schools, with Nebraska holding a 74-3-1 lead in the series. The last time the Huskers and the Tigers played was a Nebraska sweep in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2023.
Nebraska setter Bergen Reilly was named Big Ten Setter of the Week last week. The senior averages 10.70 ******* ists and 2.10 digs per set.
Missouri middle blocker Lauren Larkin leads the SEC with a hitting percentage of .564. This is Larkin's first season with the Tigers, after spending the last two seasons with Utah State.

Buffalo Gap won the first two sets then had to overcome a Staunton rally to win in five, 25-21, 25-21, 20-25, 23-25, 15-7, in Shenandoah District volleyball Sept. 3.
Gap was led by Bailey Tribble's 15 kills, 25 digs and four aces. Avery Wheeler had 37 ****** ists, 14 digs and three aces. Rachel Baber added 15 kills and Brailyn Green had 18 digs. Freshman Madison Botkin finished with 23 digs.
Kennedy Bryant led Staunton with nine kills, four blocks and a pair of aces. Faith Lam and Brooke Davenport both had six kills in the loss.
Buffalo Gap coach Elizabeth Ashby said she just told her team before the fifth set to go back to playing how they had been earlier in the match.
"Being positive, playing your game," she said. "We let up a little bit on our hits and I said, 'You've just got to swing.' And we did."

The No. 18 ranked TCU volleyball team picked up its first win of the 2026 season Sunday, sweeping UNLV 25-17, 25-16, 33-31 to close out the Players Era Volleyball Showcase in Las Vegas. The Horned Frogs hit .264 as a team and limited the Rebels to a .139 hitting rate. Evan Hendrix posted a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs for the Horned Frogs (1-1), who hit over .300 in the first two sets. Jalyn Gibson added eight kills on a .444 hitting rate.

Tennessee (3-0) ended its opening week of the 2026 volleyball season with two victories Aug. 29 in the Tennessee Tournament at Food City Center.
The Lady Vols defeated Morehead State, 25-16, 25-18, 25-12, and Fairfield, 27-25, 25-23, 25-12.
Against the Eagles, Tennessee had a .352 hitting percentage. Morgan Williams led the Lady Vols' attack with 12 kills. Maggie Dostic recorded 10 kills and two service aces, while Jalyn Stout finished the match with seven kills and three blocks.
Caroline Kerr recorded 21 **** ists and eight digs for Tennessee, and Raegan Burns also totaled eight digs.
In Tennessee's final match, the Lady Vols had a .307 hitting percentage. Kennedi Rogers recorded a double-double with 21 kills, 10 digs and three blocks. Stout recorded nine kills, while Jolene Oddo finished with eight kills and two blocks.

Emmanuel Christian volleyball players get together for an overnight outing to create memories while occasionally missing out on some sleep in the process.
That sleepiness has not been enough to keep down the play of Macey Hudson.
Hudson is a junior volleyball player at Emmanuel Christian. In a recent match against Northeastern on Aug. 22, she had 27 kills and 25 digs in a four-set victory for the Lions.
For her efforts, Hudson was named the Dayton Daily News Athlete of the Week, presented by Orthopaedic Institute of Dayton, for Aug. 17-23, earning the honor through reader voting at DaytonDailyNews.com.
"I have had people from our school get nominated and I thought it was really cool, and to have myself get nominated for it was just really an honor," Hudson said.

After the first matchday of Serie A, the talking points we've seen are the usual ones: refereeing decisions, the transfer market still being open, the post-match reactions where some vent by criticizing and others take little digs as a strategy.
The routine we waited for all summer, however, mustn't put us on autopilot, because something different happened: young Italians actually played. It seems unbelievable, but it's true: Mattia Liberali, Simone Lontani, Alessandro Romano (Swiss with dual citizenship), Emanuele Lulli, Alphadjo Cisse and Alessio Cacciamani took the field.
Some did so as starters, others came off the bench: for not all of them was it their absolute Serie A debut, but the wider public really discovered them just a few days ago. The comparison with the other top European leagues is still a long way off (to put it kindly), but at least we're trying: "Better something than nothing," as Gianni Brera would have said.
After an excellent pre-season with Milan and Ruben Amorim's imprimatur in a press conference, Alphadjo Cisse (without the accent, as he himself wanted to point out) made his debut at San Siro and scored the first Serie A goal of his career. He handled the ball well in traffic, pressed constantly and, above all, scored at the decisive moment.
During the summer he trained on his own in Montesilvano (Abruzzo) to get back into shape after tearing his adductor tendon, an injury that had cut short an excellent season with Aquilani's Catanzaro. Throughout July, Sassuolo and Torino wanted him on loan, but Amorim chose to keep him and throw him in. He is already repaying that faith.

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — Hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in Gaza make the difficult choice every day between digging into garbage dumps for combustible materials to help cook their meals or crowding around the territory's scarce charity kitchens.
The Kahlout family has tasked their 12-year-old son, Omar, with walking daily to a nearby dump to collect plastic and other material they can use as fuel. He digs with his bare hands and fills a worn-out sack, then carries it back to the tent where he lives with his family of eight.
They live close to the dump. Rats swarm their tent. This is life for many of Gaza's 2 million Palestinians who still languish in displacement camps and war-ravaged buildings, 10 months after a fragile ceasefire was reached between Israel and the Hamas militant group.
Families expressed doubt on the progress of talks that aim to end the war. "The truce is only in the media," said Omar's father, Adam. He said the family survives on food from humanitarian aid packages and charity kitchens.
And yet Palestinians say the food at the kitchens is not enough. Each family is allowed one piece of fish with rice. May people leave with their pots empty, even as Israel's government has said it is allowing enough food into the territory that remains largely cut off from the world.

If you aren't on board the hype train, you'd better get on board now because it's leaving the station. Kentucky Volleyball opened up an absolute can on #6 Wisconsin in Milwaukee, handing the Badgers a 3-0 sweep thanks to an extremely balanced night.
The Cats finished with 43 kills and 44 digs. And if you aren't familiar with volleyball, a dig is when you prevent the opponent from scoring a point off a hard-hit ball at the ground. And a kill is an attack that results in a point immediately. To be that close means the offense and defense were working in tandem all night long.
Brooklyn Deleye looked sharp in her return, leading the Wildcats with 12 kills. The Cats also doubled up Wisconsin in blocks at the net, 10-5. The national runner-up last year looked even better this year. That's a scary proposition for anyone stepping onto the court against the Cats this year.
Remember, this is a Wisconsin team that made it to the Final Four a year ago. Yes, they brought in 11 new players, but a number 6 ranking shows how much potential they have. The Cats made it look easy and are for real again, especially in what was effectively a road game.
It doesn't get any easier for Craig Skinner and company as they take on #4 Penn State on Sunday in a top-five showdown at 4 PM on ESPN.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's return to the U.K. won't be without its challenges.

Former India cricketers Sanjay Manjrekar and Murali Kartik, who are part of the broadcast team for India's tour of Sri Lanka, found themselves involved in an awkward exchange during the Galle Test on Monday.

The two were discussing the ongoing match when their conversation unexpectedly shifted from cricket to Manjrekar's facial expressions. What started as a joke quickly turned into a series of personal remarks between the two former cricketers.

Kartik began by poking fun at Manjrekar's expression, asking him to stop making what he called the "pout of the century" because it was making his speech difficult to understand.

"That's a bad one," Manjrekar replied and also responded with a comment about Kartik's appearance, suggesting that the camera focus on someone else because the other person, Ajinkya Rahane in this case, had a more pleasant face. The exchange continued as both took further digs at each other.

Kartik hit back, saying Manjrekar was the one who liked looking at himself, while Manjrekar suggested there was an incentive for Kartik to look in the mirror.

Kartik said he never looked at himself and added that people who had played or worked with Manjrekar would know him well. Manjrekar then appeared to realise that the exchange could go too far, acknowledging that they were approaching a line.

The conversation ended with Manjrekar saying, "We are both going to cross lines here and social media will have a field day."

The unusual on-air exchange quickly attracted attention because of how far the banter moved away from cricket.

While both former players appeared to be trading jokes, the comments became increasingly personal before Manjrekar attempted to bring the interaction to an end.

TOPEKA (KSNT) — Last season, Washburn volleyball earned a share of the MIAA regular season **** le and made it to the NCAA Central Regional semifinals. This season, the Ichabods expect nothing less.
"I can confidently say that we're hungry for more as a good team is, and we're trying to find that line between good and great," Washburn senior Libero Taylor Rottinghaus told 27 Sports. "We want that so bad that we've made it a goal to own it, and we want to do that so bad that we're going to put the work in on the court with practice, with the games, all of it."
In 2025, Washburn finished 27-5 and 13-3 in MIAA play. Heading into this season, the squad looks a little different after losing key All-American playmakers.
"You know, any time that you remove pieces and add pieces, you've changed the makeup of the team, and so every single year is just a little bit different," Washburn head coach Chris Herron said. "And so we're starting to see, you know, which direction we're going in and what the makeup of the team is going to be like."
One of the key leaders on this year's squad, who has been for the last couple of seasons, is Shawnee Heights' own Taylor Rottinghaus. Last season, the libero led the team with 468 digs.

Wide receiver Keon Coleman came under fire at the end of the 2025 Bills season, but he got his 2026 season off on the right foot.
Quarterback Josh Allen found Coleman in the end zone for a nine-yard score at the end of Buffalo's second offensive possession in Saturday's preseason opener against the Panthers. The Bills are at home, which makes the touchdown the first one at the new Highmark Stadium.
The throw was the final one of the afternoon for Allen. He connected with new Bills wideout DJ Moore three times for 61 yards over his two series of work and finished the day 6-of-8 for 111 yards, so it was a positive first day for the quarterback in his new digs.
Kyle Allen took over at quarterback for the Bills, who will play their first regular season game at the stadium on Thursday night in Week 2.
