Two of five starters the Astros are deploying - Cristian Javier and Pecko, the right-handed prospect - are under tighter reins, with Houston hesitant to have them face opposing lineups a third time. Javier hasn't faced more than 19 batters in any of his past four outings, one of which he pitched in bulk relief.
Having three starters who will work deeper - Hunter Brown, Peter Lambert and Hayden Wesneski - can mitigate that usage somewhat. But it puts added pressure on those starters to cover innings and protect the bullpen, and on the bullpen to shoulder a significant workload at least two out of five (or six) days.
How sustainable that is down the stretch, for a club with a three-game division lead and 19 games left in the regular season, is a question. The bullpen has been arguably the Astros' biggest strength, yet it's also at less than full capacity, even with expanded rosters offering an extra spot on the pitching staff.

Bitcoin punched back above $80,000 on Thursday, trading near $80,270 and up close to 3% over the past 24 hours. Ethereum is closing in on $2,500, up 2.2% today, while XRP is up a whopping 6% in the last 24 hours. The spike has accounted for at least $327 million in liquidated short positions in the last hour alone, and more than $415 million in the past 24 hours.
The catalyst appears to be comments from Fed Governor Christopher Waller, who, in prepared remarks at a Reuters NEXT Newsmaker interview, said he'd be "inclined to support" holding the Fed's benchmark interest rate at its current level if upcoming inflation data keeps improving.
Traders took the hint. The odds of a rate hike at the Fed's September 15-16 meeting fell to 50.4%, down from 63.2% a day earlier, according to the CME FedWatch tool, a market gauge that estimates the odds of Fed moves from futures prices. The 10-year Treasury yield, a benchmark for borrowing costs economy-wide that had touched its highest level since November 2023 a day earlier, dropped to around 4.73%.
It's a sharp reversal from a week ago. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's hawkish Jackson Hole keynote had knocked Bitcoin down to $76,877 and pushed hike odds toward 56%. Thursday's bounce puts Bitcoin back at a level it's tested—and failed to hold—several times this year.

On August 26, HEICO Corporation (NYSE:HEI) delivered a third quarter that management itself struggled to summarize without repeating the word record. Net income jumped 33% to $235.4 million, net sales climbed 23% to $1.4 billion, and the company generated $345.3 million in cash from operations, a figure equal to nearly 150% of net income. For a business that has now compounded earnings for close to four decades, the bigger question is not whether HEICO can grow, but how long it can keep growing this fast.
The headline number is 14% organic growth across the company, but the more telling detail is where that growth showed up. The Electronic Technologies Group posted an all-time quarterly record, with net sales up 36% to $483.5 million and operating income up 55% to $125.6 million, as its operating margin expanded from 22.8% to 26%. The Flight Support Group grew net sales 18% to $947.8 million while its operating income rose 24%, outpacing revenue growth as the segment shifted toward higher-value products rather than volume alone. Co-CEO Victor Mendelson said some missile defense customers have asked for production increases as high as tenfold on specific programs, while industrial technology tied to AI and data center buildouts is now feeding demand inside the electronics segment too.
Management also pointed to the integration of Wencor, with Eric Mendelson calling the combination "an absolute home run for HEICO as well as for Wencor." On the balance sheet, HEICO issued $1.2 billion in senior unsecured notes to pay down its revolver and extended that facility's maturity to June 2031, with room to grow capacity to $3 billion. Net debt to EBITDA improved to 1.57 times. The company also raised its semiannual dividend 8% to $0.13 per share, its 96th consecutive payout since 1979, and closed acquisitions of Cook Defence Systems and CalRamic Technologies during the quarter.
The same demand surge fueling HEICO's growth is straining its supply chain from the other direction. Victor Mendelson warned that lead times for certain raw materials and subcomponents are stretching out and getting more expensive, driven in part by competing demand from the AI and data center markets. Eric Mendelson pointed to a narrower but familiar bottleneck in component repair, noting that a job with 99 parts finished still cannot ship while the company waits on the hundredth. Neither issue derailed this quarter's results, but both suggest the growth machine runs on inputs HEICO does not fully control.

Chevron will invest more than $7 billion in Venezuela over the next five years and more than double its oil production in the country to about 600,000 barrels per day, Reuters reported Wednesday.
The investment follows new agreements with Venezuela that give Chevron improved fiscal, commercial and legal terms and additional acreage in the Orinoco Belt. Chevron said its three Venezuelan joint ventures will invest the money through 2031, with total production costs remaining below $20 per barrel.
Chevron currently produces about 290,000 bpd in Venezuela, all of which is exported to the United States, according to Reuters. Venezuela is producing about 1.1 million to 1.2 million bpd, down from more than 3 million bpd in the late 1990s.
The new acreage includes the Carabobo-1 and Carabobo-2-South-A areas in the Orinoco Belt, ******* igned to Petroindependencia, the joint venture in which Chevron holds a 49% interest. Chevron also increased its Petroindependencia stake to 49% in April and received rights to develop the Ayacucho 8 area next to its Petropiar venture. Its three Venezuelan joint ventures have increased production by 15% so far this year.
Wednesday's announcement puts a dollar figure and production target on the Chevron agreements that were nearing completion earlier this week. Those agreements were previously described only as being of "significant size," with Chevron seeking additional Orinoco Belt acreage.

Just before the transfer window closed, Bayern Munich academy players Luis Schäfer and Nana Gibson Adu moved on to pastures anew.
Bayern's official website confirmed Schäfer's departure. The center back came off of a fairly good 2025/26 season, in which he captained the U-19s and subsequently moved up to the U-23s. Filip Pavic's rising star, however, saw him relegated to a distant bench option for the Bavarians' second team and, after starting in the first match of the season, he has not gotten a minute in the 4 games since. One can presume he left for partner club SpVgg Unterhaching to get more game time, which puts an end to his 9 years at the FC Bayern Campus. Good luck in your future endeavors, Schäfer!
Meanwhile, Nana Gibson Adu's time at Bayern was much shorter. In fact, the striker came from Unterhaching at the start of their partnership with Bayern. He was seen as a huge talent and had already played in the 3. Liga at the tender age of 16. Unfortunately, Gibson Adu committed several disciplinary infractions and never really developed at Bayern. In 2025, a loan to Austrian club SCR Altach went through on deadline day but he had to return just two weeks later after he was denied a playing permit by UEFA. Bayern wanted nothing more to do with him, though, and banished him out on loan back to Unterhaching as soon as November that same year.

This date aligns with the final round of the LPGA's TOTO ****** an Classic, providing the new league with a high-profile opening night.
Matches and shoulder programming will appear on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2. On ION, the league joins a strong lineup of women's sports including the WNBA, NWSL, and PWHL. This distribution reaches 128 million homes nationally. It's a massive step up from streaming-only launches. The deal mirrors the success of the men's TGL, which ESPN has called home since its inaugural 2024-25 season. The infrastructure is ready. The players are set. Now the cameras just need to roll.

The roster depth is significant. An inaugural season field of 25 players has been established by the league, comprising individuals with 112 LPGA Tour victories and 15 major championships. On August 10, Chemours (NYSE:CC) launched two new refrigerants, Opteon ZE and Opteon 515B, built specifically for stationary chillers that cool data centers, commercial buildings, and other facilities that cannot afford downtime. The announcement lands as data center operators everywhere are scrambling to keep pace with the heat that AI workloads generate, and Chemours is betting its chemistry can be part of the answer.
Chemours designed these products around a specific problem: AI infrastructure is pushing heat loads and uptime requirements past what older cooling systems were built for. Joseph Martinko, President of Thermal & Specialized Solutions at Chemours, said the company is expanding the choices available to chiller manufacturers and operators as they build and maintain the systems powering data centers and other mission-critical environments. That framing matters because it puts Chemours squarely inside the AI infrastructure buildout rather than on its periphery, and the company describes this as part of a broader push into higher-value, high-growth cooling applications.
The two products are designed to work together rather than compete for the same customer. Opteon ZE, the R-1234ze(E) formulation, is an HFO-based refrigerant with a GWP of approximately 1 and zero ozone depletion potential, aimed at air- and water-cooled chillers, commercial air conditioning, heat pumps, and data center cooling specifically. It also offers high energy efficiency and works with commonly used POE lubricants, which matters for equipment makers who do not want to redesign their systems from scratch.
Opteon 515B is a blend of roughly 91.1% R-1234ze(E) and 8.9% R-227ea, with a GWP near 293, pitched at operators running conventional chillers who want an easier path away from higher-GWP refrigerants without a full system overhaul. Having both a near-zero-GWP option and a lower-friction transitional option lets Chemours sell into new builds and legacy fleets at the same time.
The launch is not without caveats. Opteon ZE carries an ASHRAE A2L classification, meaning it is mildly flammable, while Opteon 515B carries the non-flammable A1 rating. That difference alone could steer certain customers toward one product over the other depending on local codes and installation requirements.
