It's time to vote for the Halifax Health Volusia-Flagler Girls Athlete of the Week for the week of Aug. 24-29.
Last week, Mainland volleyball player Seyahna Sampson captured the honors, claiming 42% of the votes. The sophomore produced 25 kills, 27 digs and seven blocks against Seabreeze, Matanzas and Deltona.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal gathers nominees for upcoming polls from across the area via email at cvinelusatodayco.com. Please send a player's name, school and notable statistics for a given week. Submissions are due no later than 8 a.m. every Monday.
To round out the ballot, our staff also picks athletes from scores and stats posted online or submitted by local coaches. Athletes for all in-season sports, except football, are eligible. The News-Journal recognizes the local gridiron stars with our weekly game ******* story.
