Yankees trade rumors: Tarik Skubal, Ryan Jeffers, among 7 best options for New York at 2026 deadline originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New York Yankees are pretty much always buyers at the MLB traded deadline, and that is the case again for the 2026 season.
The Yankees are in a battle with the Tampa Bay Rays for the AL East crown while also trying to hold off a surging Boston Red Sox team. With Aaron Judge and Giancarlo among those on the injured list, New York will be looking to add reinforcements for the final few months of the year.
While the Yankees have more offensive issues, they are a threat make any deal and be involved in any player. New York is a threat to add both big-name stars and under-the-radar contributors, making the Yankees one of the teams to watch this deadline season.
As the Yankees look to add to their roster, here's seven names they can consider ahead of the trade deadline.

The writing has been on the wall at Parkhead for some time. Celtic are ready to listen to offers for Johnny Kenny this summer, with Millwall positioning themselves at the front of the queue. Sky Sports, via The72, confirmed that the Scottish champions won't stand in the striker's way if a decent bid comes in. Alex Neil wants the 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international at The Den, convinced he can hit the ground running straight away in the Championship.
The signing of Colombian attacker Camilo Duran from Qarabag effectively sealed Kenny's fate. Celtic originally paid Sligo Rovers £140,000 for the forward back in January 2022. Alan Nixon reports via his Patreon that a figure around £850,000 should get the deal done now. That represents a tidy profit on a player who never quite nailed down a starting spot.
Millwall aren't alone in their chase. Bolton Wanderers want him back permanently after his impressive loan spell last term. Kenny clicked quickly under Steven Schumacher, bagging six goals in 14 matches to help push Bolton towards promotion from League One before a knee issue cut his campaign short.
Add those figures to his Celtic return, and he managed 12 goals and two ******* ists across 36 total games in 2025/26. Four of those goals came in 22 Scottish Premiership matches for Celtic. Respectable enough for a squad member. Not enough to demand a starting shirt under Martin O'Neill. Publicly, O'Neill has noted that no final decision has been made on the Irishman's long-term future. Behind the scenes, sources suggest breaking into the first team this summer looks like a mountain too steep to climb.
Taking £850,000 for a squad player isn't defeatist. It is basic business. Celtic get a clean exit, pocket a profit, and free up ******* e on the wage bill for O'Neill to reinvest where it matters. Kenny gets the chance to kickstart his career somewhere he will actually play week in, week out.

Bryson DeChambeau has been one of the leading voices in the anti-golf ball rollback movement.
Golf technology's rapid advancement has seen a jaw-dropping increase in distance from modern professional golfers. To counteract this, the sport is preparing a golf ball rollback to prevent players from hitting the ball quite as far.
Many current players and legends alike, such as Rory McIlroy, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, are in favor of this move, although there are questions being raised about how effective the new golf ball will be at reducing distance.
Meanwhile, DeChambeau has argued that fans want to see players hit the ball as far as humanly possible. He says being able to drive the ball over 350 yards is a feat of human accomplishment, and it's good for the game.
But what's happening on the PGA Tour this season proves that DeChambeau's take on this is complete nonsense.

The Colorado Rockies played the Milwaukee Brewers' kind of game better than the Brewers did Friday afternoon.
Colorado attacked Shane Drohan with hard contact, created pressure on the bases, and turned productive outs into runs. Tomoyuki Sugano used his seven-pitch mix to keep Milwaukee from settling into a comfortable look, while the bullpen covered the final 3.2 innings without allowing a run.
The Rockies built a 4-1 lead by scoring in the first, third, and fourth innings. Christian Yelich and Brice Turang supplied Milwaukee's only damage against Sugano with solo home runs, but TJ Rumfield answered with a pinch-hit RBI double in the seventh to extend the advantage to 5-2.
Milwaukee made one final push in the ninth with back-to-back singles against Jordan Romano, bringing the tying run to the plate with **** ody out. Romano recovered by retiring Joey Ortiz, Gary Sánchez and Yelich to secure the win.
The Brewers entered the afternoon 26-7 in series openers under two-time reigning NL Manager of the Year Pat Murphy. They also entered allowing fewer stolen bases than any team in baseball.

The Washington Huskies are aiming at some of the nation's best defensive linemen in the 2028 class, and among their top priorities is four-star Kingston Brown.
The 6-foot-3, 265-pound product of Carver High School in Georgia, who took an unofficial visit to Seattle in March for Junior Day, is ranked as the No. 193 overall prospect and No. 22 defensive lineman by the 247Sports Composite, and has quickly become one of the nation's most coveted underclassman pass rushers.
Brown holds 25 offers, with Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M all among the programs in pursuit of his services, but after convincing him to take a cross-country trip to host him and extend an in-person offer, Jedd Fisch's coaching staff may have an early advantage in his recruitment.
During his sophomore year, Brown turned in 50 tackles, 21 for loss, with 3 sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception, while showcasing the versatile skill set that defensive coordinator Ryan Walters covets along the interior of the defensive front.
On film, Brown is a disruptive presence who plays with great power and a strong motor while lining up at both defensive tackle and as a standup edge rusher. He also offers a high floor as a run defender, playing with the effort and explosiveness needed to succeed along the interior, where he's consistently able to shoot through gaps and make plays in the backfield.

Long-time NBA **** yst Skip Bayless recently accused Dillon Brooks, who became a meme for "hate-watching" during the Los Angeles Lakers' Game 4 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder last May, of selling out to LeBron James.
Brooks and James have shared a fierce rivalry in the past few years, which is why Bayless was surprised to learn that Brooks actually asked James' agent, Rich Paul, for courtside tickets to watch the said contest.
"I just lost respect for Dillon Brooks, who admits he got his courtside seat at the Laker playoff game from Rich Paul," Bayless posted on X. "Come on, don't sell out to LeBron. Don't lose your 'Dillon the Villain' edge vs LBJ. Don't turn into Draymond (Green), going from LBJ enemy to business partner."
MORE: NBA star Dillon Brooks slams 'social media junkie' LeBron James
It is important to note that Brooks' agent, Mike George, is signed with the Klutch Sports Group, which explains his connection with Paul. However, it's hard to envision that Brooks will take it easy on James the next time they share the court.

Did the Miami Heat post a spoiler? Betting odds seem to think so.
The Heat posted a video to Youtube named "LeBron James Introductory Press Conference," but the organziation quickly took it down and said it was a mistake.
If betting odds are right, they probably should have just unpublished.
It still appears there are three teams in the running to sign James, the Heat, the Cavaliers, the Warriors and the 76ers. Here's where things stand on Wednesday.
Miami has a 48 percent of landing LeBron according to Kalshi on Wednesday night at 10:15 p.m., which is down 2 points from this afternoon. They’re followed by the Cavaliers, who have a 27 percent chance, two less than earlier. Golden State has a 15, up three from this afternoon and Philadelphia comes in with a 10 percent chance after seeing an eight percent chance earlier Wednesday.

Former Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons was once of the better players in the league on both ends of the floor. Not only could he get to the basket and make life easier for himself and everybody around him, but he was also able to make defensive plays to help the Sixers get out and run and use their athletes and shooters to get easy buckets.
Simmons was named to the All-Defensive First Team twice during his time in Philadelphia and was able to lead the charge on that end for the Sixers. He used his unique blend of athleticism and size to be able to deter opponents on getting to the basket and pushed a lot of his opponents toward places they didn't want to go.
Bleacher Report ranked the top 99 defenders in the history of the NBA and Simmons came in ranked No. 94 on the list:
Ben Simmons' career is one of the most fascinating (and potentially depressing) we've seen in recent memory, and it ended way too soon (though he's talked about attempting a comeback for 2026-27).
He was the first overall pick in the draft, won Rookie of the Year and looked like one of the best and most dynamic transition playmakers in the league. He was also an absolute menace on the defensive end, particularly against guards tasked with getting around his 6'10" frame.

It would appear that the Jacksonville Jaguars' Travis Hunter has put on some muscle heading into his second NFL season.
Back in late May, Hunter was asked about the muscle he's added this offseason.
"It wasn't a focus," he said, via Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida-Times Union, "it was me going in there and getting my overall body right and getting in shape. Because I couldn't run, so weight room was my best friend, being able to let out some anger because I didn't have my two feet."
Hunter didn't specify how much weight he put on. "You'll have to wait for that," he said with a smile.
Hunter has been rehabbing from a knee injury that he sustained last season, which cut his rookie year short.

When asked about the still-pending Kawhi Leonard trade between the Clippers and Raptors, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said the onus for the delay lies strictly with the teams involved and not with the league.
Silver addressed media from Summer League in Las Vegas Tuesday night and was asked repeatedly about the ongoing Leonard saga that started with a league investigation in September and has resulted in his trade from Los Angeles to Toronto being put on hold in July.
Silver put it in no uncertain terms: The delay is on the Clippers and Raptors.
"I mean, the league did not pause the trade," Silver said. "The parties to the trade made a decision not to go forward, given that the investigation remained open and any possible impact on Kawhi or his contract was yet to be known.
"And so they chose not to live with that uncertainty, but that was well known before the trade was proposed. I didn't think there was any reason for people to believe that the status of Kawhi Leonard would change merely because he was traded. The investigation needs to run its course."

The 2026 World Cup is down to its last four, meaning teams will be praying not to suffer any untimely injury setbacks in their quest for global glory.
Some of the big injury sagas heading into the tournament have come to happy endings, with Lamine Yamal now a regular fixture for Spain after returning to full fitness, while injury-ridden Neymar was able to get some minutes in what will be his final World Cup, before Brazil’s elimination at the hands of Norway.
However, many nations are still sweating over major concerns to top players. England have been dealing with a defensive injury crisis for much of the tournament and while that appeared to easing with Reece James closing in on a return, Declan Rice‘s fitness is now up in the air after being struck down with illness before the quarter-final clash with Norway.
France will be sweating over the fitness of Kylian Mbappe after he was brought off with a knock against Morocco. Spain, meanwhile, have seen their winger options limited since the end of the group stage, with Yeremy Pino and Victor Munoz still out. And in a potential concern for Newcastle fans hoping to see one of their top targets in action, Switzerland will be without star man Johan Manzambi for their last-eight tie with Argentina.

As an organization, the Los Angeles Dodgers accepted the ballclub's invitation to the White House this summer to celebrate the team's 2025 World Series victory.
"As was the case one year ago, the Dodgers' upcoming visits to the White House and Capitol Hill follow the longtime tradition of visits by other World Series champions," the Dodgers said via statement. "We appreciate these tributes in recognition of our back-to-back championships."
Whether or not to attend the once widley celebrated honor of celebrating championships with a visit to the White House has become a contentious topic in both of Donald Trump's administrations, himself a contentious figure.
In the Dodgers' case, longtime Los Angeles Times columnist Bill Plaschke took exception with the Dodgers' decision to attend, especially given the club's history with the iconic Jackie Robinson, who served a major role in integrating the MLB.
"The Dodgers do know they play in Los Angeles, right? Then why in the ***** do they insist on embracing the person trying to tear this city apart?" he wrote in his Los Angeles Times column. "This is an old issue, it's been written before, it's been debated ad nauseam, but it's happening again and remains as sickening as ever."

What made the game even more special to Francou was that his father and friends came all the way from France providing extra support.
