The lights at TDECU Stadium briefly went out with less than two minutes left in the first half of Saturday's game between the University of Houston and Southern.
After a brief delay, game officials opted to continue the game in semi-dark conditions as the sun began to set around 7:32 p.m.
The scoreboard and video ribbons around the stadium continued to function.
Power was restored shortly thereafter. The outage was due to a power surge, per school officials.

LOS ANGELES -- The Phoenix Mercury visited the Los Angeles Sparks last month at the Galen Center in the University of Southern California. A lot changed from their visit before that a couple of weeks before to their game at USC.
For Kahleah Copper, a lot changed for her as well. Hours after their game against the Sparks on July 22nd, Copper was named to the All-Star team as she replaced her friend, then-Sparks guard Kelsey Plum.
About a week after All-Star weekend, Plum was traded to the Mercury and the friends were suddenly teammates.
"(Plum brought) her energy, her vibes, her leadership, her championship experience (to the team)," Copper said before their game against the Sparks at USC. "She knows what it takes to win. I'm glad to play alongside with her."

Faison's comments came after Edward Waters played Jackson State, and he believes that the team did not get a fair shake in the deal he made years ago.
"Going forward, Edward Waters University will not schedule Division I opposition in football except on terms this institution sets and that materially and substantially advance our program goals," he said in the post. "I want you and our supporters to understand exactly why. The economics do not work. We were paid a $65,000 guarantee, which covered none of our costs. Travel and related expenses ran roughly $30,000 to $35,000, so we cleared about $30,000. That does not begin to justify what such a game asks of a team, a coaching staff, and a program."
Barlow, whose team recently played the University of Georgia in Week 1, expressed solidarity with Faison on Monday's OVC-Big South coaches call. He started by acknowledging that guarantee games between HBCUs (and FCS schools generally) and Power Conference opponents are common practice.

TROY - With a pair of former University at Albany quarterbacks at the controls, the Utica offense shredded RPI again on Saturday.
Former Great Danes backup Tyler Szalkowski completed 29 of 38 passes for 402 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Pioneers to a 38-14 victory over the Engineers at East Campus Stadium.
"I enjoyed my time at Albany," said Szalkowski, who spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Great Danes. "Everything they did for me just made me who I am today."
Utica improved to 2-0, while RPI fell to 1-1.
It was the second straight year Szalkowski picked apart RPI. He was 27-of-29 passing for 385 yards and six touchdowns when the Pioneers blew out the Engineers 41-14 in Utica last season.

ESPN College GameDay was very profitable for one University of Texas student. Each Week on the pregame show, former kicker Pat McAfee picks one student to take part in his Kicking is Easy field goal contest. This week, he picked Connor Kacena-Merrell from Zionsville, Indiana. Olivia Oras, a popular Finnish social media influencer, died aged 27 after losing consciousness under anesthesia before a scheduled liposuction procedure at a private clinic in Helsinki. Olivia's death is currently being investigated by police as aggravated manslaughter.
The incident occurred on September 3rd. The police received a notification requesting an investigation on September 6th.
According to an investigative broadcast from the Finnish public broadcaster Yle, Olivia's problems started due to the anesthesia before the liposuction. Olivia lost consciousness and was moved to Helsinki University Hospital, where she eventually died. Later, Yle discovered from Helsinki District Court that August 31st is considered the date of the suspected offense. Detective Chief Inspector Juha Piippo, who led the case, reported that Olivia stayed in the hospital for several days between the suspected crime and her death.
Juha Piippo revealed that police suspect the involvement of a doctor or doctors in Olivia's death. However, the detective refused to provide any information on suspects' detainment or arrest.

TikTok creator molly.rutter posted a video describing her highly anticipated first date with a foreign student that, since its publication, has drawn over 15 million views and generated over 7300 comments. EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan State University Board of Trustees officially approved Dan Bartholomae as the school's new athletic director during its meeting on Friday.
Bartholomae comes to MSU from Western Michigan University, where he was the athletic director since 2022.
"The future of college athletics will belong to institutions that embrace innovation while remaining grounded in their mission," MSU President Kevin M. Guskiewicz, Ph.D., said in a release "At Michigan State, that mission is clear: to provide our student-athletes with an experience that prepares them to compete at the highest levels, earn a world-class education and become leaders who make a difference long after their playing days are over. Dan shares that commitment and has the experience, vision and values to lead Spartan Athletics into its next era. We are excited to start this next chapter with him as our leader."
The terms of the contract are unclear. Bartholomae's August 2025 contract with Western Michigan includes a $5.1 million buyout, partly offset by a $3.95 million buyout Michigan State negotiated with Kentucky over J Batt's departure.
Western Michigan won 37 total conference championships and made 35 NCAA postseason appearances during Bartholomae's tenure, and its men's hockey team won the 2025 NCAA championship. He also had success as a fundraiser during his time in Kalamazoo, where he led record-breaking fundraising efforts. Michigan State in a previous news release highlighted that the average annual giving increased by 473% under his tenure, while the number of unique donors increased by 105%.

Lily Reynolds enjoyed a tremendous first full season pitching on the varsity level as a sophomore for Colonie in 2026.
Before her final two high schools seasons, Reynolds has already provided longtime University at Albany softball coach Chris Cannata her verbal commitment to pitch for the Great Danes of the America East Conference.
"I just realized that I wanted to stay home and be around my family. That was really the big deciding factor for me - not necessarily the D-I label," Reynolds said of her decision.
"She called me (Wednesday) and I told her this is the best news ever," said Colonie coach Kelly Colvin, who played at Shenendehowa and UAlbany. "Lily has put in so much hard work with us at Colonie and with the (Capital District) Fusion. It is really cool to see it pay off for her. We're all very excited."
During her sophomore season, Reynolds compiled a 7-2 record with a 1.61 earned run average and 115 strikeouts over 91 1/3 innings for the Wolf Pack. She was named to the Times Union all-star team as a first-team selection.

He finished the season hitting .442 with nine doubles, one home run, 19 RBI, and 27 runs in 29 games. He recorded a .509 on-base percentage, walking 11 times and striking out twice.
He made 12 appearances on the mound, going 3-0 with a 2.07 ERA in 44 innings. He held opponents to a .179 batting average, allowing 26 runs (13 earned) on 28 hits and 30 walks, striking out 69 batters. He faced 190 batters and did not allow an extra-base hit.

Brian Kelly was let go as the head coach of the LSU Tigers football program in the middle of last season after he failed to find the sort of success either he or the university envisioned when he came to Baton Rouge after a long stint as the head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
In the first game of the Lane Kiffin era, the Tigers dominated the Clemson Tigers from start to finish, winning 51-10. After being asked about his thoughts on the game in a video call with College Sports on SiriusXM, Kelly was brutally honest about his feelings.
"I'll be honest, I had a hard time watching it, "Kelly admitted, "but I don't think it was just LSU. It was just the first weekend truly of college football, and it was hard. The Apertura 2026 has once again confirmed the evolution of Diego Campillo. The center back who came through the Cantera Rojiblanca has established himself as an immensely valuable piece for Guadalajara and, matchday after matchday, has shown that his growth goes hand in hand with a greater influence within Gabriel Milito's system.
Ahead of Jornada 8, in which Chivas will host Pumas at Estadio AKRON, Campillo emerges as the player to watch for El Rebaño Sagrado, both because of the level he has shown throughout the tournament and because of his previous performances against the university side.
The 24-year-old defender has played in 6 of Guadalajara's 7 matches in AP26, and he has found an ideal setting in the libero position to maximize some of his main strengths: reading the game, defending large ****** es and his ability to initiate attacks from the back.
Campillo has become one of the main players responsible for maintaining Guadalajara's high defensive line. On many occasions, he is the last man back and, from that position, he has had to directly face forwards with tremendous quality and very different characteristics.
Throughout this tournament, he has demonstrated his ability to prevail in individual duels against powerful and fast attackers, while also improving considerably when defending the ****** e behind the defensive line.
