Quenching the thirst of the annual content drought, the NBA has dropped its 2026-27 regular season. The Oklahoma City Thunder now have the next month-plus to completely dissect when and where they'll face their opponents during the seven-month marathon.
Entering the 2026-27 season as a co-title favorite, the Thunder are once again an NBA main character. They'll have the fifth-most national TV games with 30. Only the New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers have more at 34 apiece.
Even with their cost-cutting moves this summer, the Thunder remain arguably the best team. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams are one of the top league trios. With one championship ring in hand, they're looking to add another this upcoming year.
One of the recent NBA regular season perks is the baseball series. Gaining popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, the schedule-makers have had teams face off against each other two times in a row — usually in the same arena. That eases some of the travel load that teams go through.
Let's look at all five of OKC's baseball series throughout the 2026-27 regular season:

Anthropic is ******* embling a revolving credit facility expected to surpass its roughly $10 billion target, as the AI company moves toward a public listing, according to Reuters.
Banks are competing for a share of the expanded credit line, viewing involvement as a way to bolster their standing when Anthropic selects underwriters for its IPO, according to Reuters, citing Bloomberg News. The company behind the Claude chatbot confidentially filed for a U.S. initial public offering in June.
The structure of the facility ******* igns different commitment levels based on a bank's level of involvement. Banks taking the most prominent arranging roles have received requests for commitments of about $1.25 billion apiece, with those in a secondary tier being guided toward roughly $1 billion. Banks with smaller roles in the deal are expected to contribute somewhere below $750 million.
The talks remain ongoing, and Anthropic could still opt to cap the facility at its original target or even below it.

Eight LSU football players landed on the preseason Coaches' All-SEC team. That's the third-most total, after Georgia and Texas with 11 apiece, then Oklahoma with 10. The Tigers tied with the Longhorns for the most first-team selections with five each.
Tight end Trey'Dez Green, offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, defensive lineman Princewill Umanmielen, linebacker Whit Weeks and punter Grant Chadwick landed on the first team. Cornerback DJ Pickett is on the second team while safety Ty Benefield and center Braelin Moore are on the third team.
A mix of veterans from the 2025 roster and the transfer portal, along with young stars, characterizes this year's LSU team. Its All-SEC selections reflect that as well. Weeks and Moore fought through injuries with the Tigers last year, both returning to lead the purple and gold in its first year under head coach Lane Kiffin.
Umanmielen played under Kiffin at Ole Miss last year, ending the year as a third-team All-SEC selection. Chadwick also earned a spot on the All-SEC third team last year as LSU's punter. Benefield and Seaton came to Baton Rouge as two of the top players out of the transfer portal.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Jo Adell set a career high with six RBIs and hit a 455-foot, three-run homer in the first inning as the Cleveland Guardians defeated the San Francisco Giants 8-1 Tuesday night.
Adell and José Ramírez had three hits apiece for the Guardians, who won for only the fifth time in 15 games this month.
Foster Griffin (14-4) became the fourth big-league pitcher with at least 14 wins this season after he allowed one run in six innings.
San Francisco's Bryce Eldridge homered for the second straight game. The Giants have dropped five of their last six.
It was a bounce-back game for Adell, who came into the game batting .167 (7 for 42) since being acquired by the Guardians at the Aug. 4 trade deadline.

Pete Crow-Armstrong hammered a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to seal a 7-5 Cubs (73-53) win over the White Sox (65-59) and push him ahead as the favorite in the National League MVP race. The season series between the Cubs and White Sox is tied at two apiece with two games remaining.
The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the White Sox. Over the past week, Chicago's pitching staff has a 4.33 ERA (14th), which has been nullified by the hot bats on offense. The White Sox are hitting .280 over the past six days (5th) and an MLB-best 11 home runs.
The Cubs walk-off winner was an MLB-tying 11 home runs in the past week. Chicago's scored 30 runs in that span (T-6th), which trails a few teams such as the White Sox who are in first with 38 runs. However, the Cubs pitching rotation has the second-worst ERA (6.00) in the last six games.

The New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts tied 13-apiece in their Week 1 preseason matchup on Thursday.
There were highlights and lowlights on the offensive side of the ball for the Patriots. Keep in mind that none of the starters played in the game. As a result, the offensive unit was led at different points by backup quarterbacks Tommy DeVito and Behren Morton.
The unit itself accumulated 275 total yards on 69 plays, including 192 passing yards. The ground game wasn't as much of a factor as the Patriots probably would have hoped.
Wideout Kyle Williams scored the only touchdown for New England by hauling in a reception on a 12-yard pass from DeVito. Beyond that, the Patriots were only able to scrape by with a couple of field goals off the foot of Andy Borregales, who also had three misses on the night.
The Patriots led the time of possession well with a 32:07-27:53 advantage over the Colts. Yet, despite extra time and more possessions, the Patriots were not able to get anything going consistently on offense. That led to a stalemate with the visiting Colts at Gillette Stadium.

Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers delivered the superstar showdown everyone wanted Friday night.
The two guards traded difficult shots, momentum-changing baskets and impressive passes throughout the Indiana Fever's 98-87 victory over the Dallas Wings at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. They finished with 29 points apiece, turning the latest chapter of their rivalry into one of the season's most entertaining individual matchups.
Indiana coach Stephanie White enjoyed the show, but she also noticed the detail that ultimately helped Clark and the Fever leave with the victory.
Clark and Bueckers have been compared since their college careers, and their latest meeting offered another reminder of why both players have become foundational pieces for their franchises. Neither guard needed much room to create offense. Clark connected on deep jumpers and generated opportunities off the dribble, while Bueckers repeatedly found openings against Indiana's defense.

On the Eve of the full 2026-27 regular season drop, the league announced its 2026 NBA Cup group play schedule. The Oklahoma City Thunder are part of West Group B this year. Considering the rest of the field, they'll enter as favorites to win it.
The other four West Group B teams are the Minnesota Timberwolves, LA Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans. All five teams will play each other once throughout November. After that, the group winner will advance to the eight-team knockout tournament.
The NBA Cup is entering its fourth year. The league is divided into six groups of five teams. Three apiece in the West and East. Following the group stage, the six group winners punch their ticket to the eight-team tournament. The other two teams will be one wildcard team from each conference.
The NBA Cup quarterfinals will be on Dec. 4-5. The semifinals will be on Dec 8-9. The 2026 NBA Cup finals will be on Dec. 11. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be hosted at the higher seed's home gym. Meanwhile, the finals have shifted from Las Vegas to Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
As a reminder, the NBA Cup winner receives financial bonuses. The deeper you get into the tournament, the more money each player on the roster receives. Every game — minus the NBA Cup finals — also counts toward the regular-season standings.

Great Britain lead the medal table at the European Athletics Championships 2026 after a thrilling first two days of competition, with sprinters Romell Glave and Jeremiah Azu picking up gold and silver respectively in the men's 100m to take the national tally to two golds and two silvers.
Their success followed world 200m silver medallist Amy Hunt winning GB's first gold of the championships as she surged to victory in the 100m on Monday night in 11 seconds flat, having been seventh of the eight-athlete final after the first 10m due to a typical slower start. But she stormed back to overhaul Poland's Ewa Swoboda and Belgium's Delphine Nkansa, while defending champion Dina Asher-Smith finished fifth.
Italy and the Netherlands are close behind GB on four medals apiece while Norway took two golds on the opening night, with Jakob Ingebrigtsen claiming a brilliant 5,000m gold after nearly a year out of competition.
The Norwegian great was sidelined with an Achilles injury which required surgery in January and only returned to full training six weeks ago, but stunned his rivals in the final 100m - after appearing completely boxed in - to win a record-equalling seventh European gold.
The Norwegian 4x400m mixed relay team added a second gold later that evening, while Britain's team were led home to silver by Yemi Mary John.

Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) is trying to solve two problems at once: proving its AI hardware can keep growing as fast as Street expects, and making a case for why that growth alone should justify the stock's price. On August 6, AMD confirmed a deal to buy Taalas, a Toronto-based startup building specialized silicon for AI inference, a move aimed squarely at the first problem even as the second has been driving the stock's swings all week.
Taalas, founded in 2023, has built technology that optimizes how data moves during AI inference, cutting the compute and memory bottlenecks that slow general-purpose chip designs. AMD plans to fold that technology into its accelerator roadmap and pair it with AMD Instinct GPUs, adding another layer to a platform that already spans Helios rackscale systems, EPYC CPUs and the ROCm software stack. The deal, still subject to regulatory approval, also extends AMD's long-standing presence in Canada, where the company says it intends to keep growing its engineering talent base.
The underlying business backs that ambition up. Second-quarter revenue hit a record $11.5 billion, up 50% year-over-year, with data center revenue alone climbing 107% to $6.7 billion. Adjusted EPS jumped 246% to $1.66, and operating margin improved to 17% from a 2% loss a year earlier. AMD has picked up customers once seen as Nvidia territory, including Oracle, Microsoft and OpenAI, and CEO Lisa Su says AMD has lined up 6 gigawatts of committed capacity apiece from OpenAI and Meta Platforms for its new MI450 chips and Helios racks. Su has pegged the AI data center chip market at $1.4 trillion annually by 2030 and forecasts that AMD's own data center sales will roughly double once more in 2027.
Despite that quarter, AMD shares fell, and the simplest explanation is that much of the good news was already baked into the price. The stock trades at nearly 70 times forward earnings, a multiple that ******* umes years of growth are already locked in. Some of AMD's headline growth rate is also flattered by an easy comparison: a US government ban on chip sales to China in April 2025 depressed AMD's results a year ago, making this year's percentage gain look larger than the underlying quarter-over-quarter trend, which came in at 16%.
Hedge fund ownership of AMD ticked up from 132 funds in the prior quarter to 134 in the most recent one, a modest increase suggesting institutional interest is holding steady rather than swinging hard either way. Short interest is low at 2.45% of float, showing little organized betting against the stock. Even so, AMD carries a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 65.36 as of August 7, a rich multiple that leaves the stock priced for the growth story to keep delivering rather than for any near-term stumble.

On June 2, Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) set the price on $18 billion of new stock it was selling to public investors, part of an $84.75 billion effort to raise money for its artificial intelligence buildout. Anyone who got shares in that sale paid $355.1982 apiece for the Class A stock.
Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.B) paid $351.81.
The Google parent had agreed the day before to sell Warren Buffett's company $10 billion of stock in a private placement — Alphabet sold the shares straight to Berkshire instead of running them through the public offering. Berkshire paid $351.81 for $5 billion of Class A shares and $348.20 for $5 billion of Class C shares, which carry no voting rights and trade a few dollars cheaper, according to Alphabet's filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Public buyers in the sale running alongside it paid $355.1982 and $351.8018. The private sale closed June 4, the same day as the public one.

The A's managed to string together a pair of wins! A day after snapping their nine-game losing streak the club made it two in a row as they won their road trip and series finale against the Boston Red Sox in a close 4-3 contest. They now sit at 47-71 and will stay out of the league cellar for another day.
The Athletics got out to a quick start in this one against a Red Sox club going with a bullpen game. A pair of hits started this game and the A's were in early business. The club did well to cash in at least one run off an RBI groundout from Tyler Soderstrom, but it also felt like a minor wasted opportunity to give their starting pitcher some breathing room before taking to the mound.
It was right-hander J.T. Ginn on the ******* p today making his second start since getting activated off the injured list with a blister. He was looking good in this one, allowing just one run to score in the second to knot this game up at one apiece.
A couple innings later it was Soderstrom back up to bat and this time he hit a leadoff triple to start the fourth. He'd come in to score on the next pitch thanks to another RBI groundout, this one from rookie infielder Tommy White.
Boston would take the lead in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a throwing error from Ginn. He wasn't charged with two runs on his final line but for all intents and purposes they were his responsibility. Ginn would pitch one more frame before departing this game, leaving down 3-2 and in line for a loss.

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Max Scherzer has moved to 10th on the all-time strikeout list, passing Walter Johnson.
Scherzer achieved the feat by getting Kyle Schwarber to strike out looking in the bottom of the sixth inning. It was his fourth punchout of the game. Unfortunately, Trae Turner and Bryce Harper followed it up with a solo home run apiece, which forced Toronto to go to the bullpen.
The veteran starting pitcher entered the day with 3,512 career strikeouts, only three behind tying Johnson. Scherzer struck out Harper in the first inning, Garrett Stubbs in the third inning, and then Bryan De La Cruz in the fifth inning to tie the Hall of Famer.
Scherzer has the second-most strikeouts among active pitchers. He trails only Justin Verlander, who has 3,554. The veteran Verlander has already indicated that this will be his final season.
The Blue Jays pitcher will now set his sights on ******* Perry, who had 3,534 strikeouts. With Scherzer finishing Saturday night's game with 5,316, he only needs 19 strikeouts to move into sole possession of ninth-place all-time.

Two traditional clubs with large and passionate fan bases will kick off their respective seasons on Sunday, with the atmosphere inside the Max-Morlock-Stadion expected to be electric as Nürnberg face Dynamo Dresden.
Miroslav Klose enters his third season in charge of Der Club, with promotion ambitions yet to come to fruition following 10th and eighth-place finishes in his first two campaigns. The former Germany international will be hoping this can finally be the season in which he guides Nürnberg back to the Bundesliga.
As with most clubs in the division, Nürnberg have seen several departures during the summer, with Fabio Gruber and Luka Lochoshvili among those to leave. However, the club have brought in eight new players to compensate for those losses.
Nürnberg also enjoyed an unbeaten pre-season, recording four wins and one draw. Strikers Piet Scobel and Mohamed Ali Zoma both impressed during the preparations, scoring four goals apiece across the five matches.
Klose is determined to ensure his side make a better start than they did last season:

Yirer Garcia's RBI single in the 10th inning gave the Charleston RiverDogs their 1th walk-off win of the season in their 6-5 victory over the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers in 10 innings on Aug. 7 in front of 3,745 fans at Riley Park.
With the victory, the RiverDogs (59-46, 23-17 second half) evened the series at two games apiece and moved to 3-3 in extra innings.
The RiverDogs opened the game emphatically, beginning when Cooper Flemming grounded an RBI single to center to make it 1-0.

The 2025 Kentucky volleyball season was one of the best in team history, and fell just short of winning a national championship. Heading into the 2026, they will be, once again, among the favored teams to take home the ******* le as they bring back a lot of talent and added some key players as well.
The success of the Wildcats is paying off in terms of national attention as well. Kentucky announced on Wednesday that 11 of their games this season would be broadcast on national television, with six of them to be shown on ESPN or ESPN2, and one apiece on Fox and ABC. The others will be on the SEC Network. It's the most nationally televised games in school history.
Kentucky will have several big non-conference games shown on national TV. The Wisconsin Badgers, Penn State, Louisville, and the UCLA Bruins are all on that list, while the Texas Longhorns, Tennessee Volunteers, and defending national champion Texas A&M are among conference teams to be shown nationally.
It is set to be a fun season for the Wildcats volleyball team. There are championship aspirations, and they should be among the top teams, giving Big Blue Nation a reason to be excited, and now they'll be able to more closely follow the team on television more often.

The San Diego Padres scored early and often in a convincing 9-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks to even the four-game series at a game apiece. It was their ninth win in the last 11 games, moving the Padres one game back of the Diamondbacks in the National League Wild-Card standings.
This sets up a crucial third game in the four-game set. The victor could gain much-needed momentum in securing the final playoff spot.
One of the catalysts in the Padres' ability to roar back into the Wild-Card chase has been their offense. Last night, the lineup erupted for 16 hits and nine runs in the road victory. Manny Machado was the hitting star with three hits and four RBIs. Jackson Merrill continued his hot streak with a three-hit night and two RBIs. Jake Cronenworth also contributed with three hits and an RBI.
View Link
Since the All-Star break, the team's hitting numbers have been outstanding. The Friars have a team batting average of .291 with 139 hits and 20 home runs. The hope is the suddenly hot offense combined with improved starting pitching will help the club to gain more ground in the heated NL Wild-Card race.

After a bit of a dud on Monday night, the Brewers will, for the third day in a row, go for their 70th win tonight as they attempt to even this four-game series against Pittsburgh at one game apiece. With a 6-1 record, the Pirates have had Milwaukee's number this season, a stark change over the modern history in this divisional rivalry; over the last 20 years, the Brewers have an overall record of 194-126 against the Buccos.
Tonight's pitching matchup features two bright young stars, both 24 years old, though not the first two who might come to mind when considering these two teams. For the Brewers, Logan Henderson—still a Brewer after many a speculative fan had linked him to a Tarik Skubal trade before the deadline yesterday—gets the nod, while the Pirates send Jared Jones.
By rate stats, Henderson has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season. A back injury has limited his innings, but this will be his fifth start since missing about a month and a half between late May and early July. In the nine starts that Henderson has made, he's pitched to a 2.66 ERA and 2.80 FIP, a 0.909 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts to just 1.8 walks per nine innings. You'd expect that the league will adjust to Henderson at some point, and he's averaged less than five innings per start this season, but in his limited sample as a big leaguer he's been outstanding.
Jones, who is right-handed and a few months older than Henderson, is back on track after missing all of the 2025 season due to Tommy John surgery. Jones, who was a top-100 prospect prior to his debut in 2024, has pitched to a 3.81 ERA and 3.48 FIP in 52 innings across 11 starts this season with impressive peripheral numbers of his own (10 K/9, 2.6 BB/9). In contrast to Henderson, and like last night's starter, Bubba Chandler, Jones is a high velocity guy; his 98.4 average fastball velocity is in the top five percent of the league. Jones relies heavily on that fastball but gets a ton of whiffs with the slider he plays off of it. Jones is primarily a fastball/slider pitcher but mixes in a changeup every now and then and, a few times a game, a curveball.
With yesterday's trades, the Brewers have made some adjustments to their roster. Garrett Stallings' heroic outing on Monday night was rewarded with a demotion to Triple-A Nashville (life is tough for fringey pitchers), but the headline—not unexpected—is that Brandon Sproat will join him there.

Jets' Geno Smith gets glimmer of hope in otherwise dismal No. 29 NFL QB rankings originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Nobody expects the New York Jets to win a Super Bowl this season, not that fans would be mad if it happened, but the expectations are pretty realistic for the team this year. What are those expectations? Basically, Aaron Glenn and company are hoping for more wins than last season and maybe even a playoff run.
But, Jets quarterback Geno Smith has had a rough few seasons with other franchises, and that's not lost on NFL ****** ysts and experts. Bleacher Report has unleashed a new list ranking all of the NFL quarterbacks for 2026. In it, players are graded on six categories: accuracy (25 points), processing (20), arm talent, decision-making, pocket presence (15 apiece) and leadership (10).
Of course, ****** ody thought Smith would be ranked No. 1 on this list. But, he's in a pretty tough spot at No. 29. He's in the "functional performer" section.
"Geno Smith is coming off a disappointing season and a rough two-year stretch. He has turned the ball over at an alarming rate (32 INTs) in that span," Bleacher Report notes.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Janelle Salaun came off the bench to score 24 points, Veronica Burton contributed 17 points and six ***** ists, and the Golden State Valkyries used their stingy defense down the stretch to hold off the Toronto Tempo for a 96-79 win Sunday night.
Gabby Williams and Tiffany Hayes scored 15 points apiece in the first of back-to-back matchups between the teams at Chase Center, where a raucous sellout crowd cheered Golden State ending a two-game skid that followed a nine-game winning streak.
Salaun shot 9 for 15 with four 3-pointers, putting Golden State ahead 66-59 on a 3 with 1:30 left in the third. She just missed her career-high of 26 set July 8 at Toronto.
Burton converted a three-point play with 6:55 remaining in the game then a steal with 6:14 remaining that led to Salaun's three-point play moments later that put the Valkyries ahead 80-68.
Nyara Sabally had 19 points and eight rebounds for the expansion Tempo, who began a five-game road trip by losing their sixth straight game and 10th in their last 11.
