Tonight, the Athletics will look to snap their three-game losing streak as they take on the San Francisco Giants in the middle game of this three-game interleague series. Last night, the A’s offense struggled against Giants starter Robbie Ray, who tossed eight innings of one-run ball. As a result, the “Green and Gold” need to get a win this evening, or they could be at risk of being swept tomorrow afternoon.
Athletics rookie left-hander Gage Jump will make his sixth MLB start and first against the Giants. The top-100 prospect has lived up to the billing through his first few big-league outings. Jump has posted a 3-1 record, a 2.37 ERA, an impressive 0.99 WHIP and 26 strikeouts across his initial 30 1/3 MLB innings. The 23-year-old is coming off his best start with the A’s, earning the win after pitching seven shutout innings against the Los Angeles Angels.
With a pitcher-friendly ballpark and a Giants offense that has scored the fourth-fewest runs in the league working in his favor, Jump appears well-positioned to cap off an impressive first month in the majors with another quality start.
The southpaw, who has experienced a meteoritic rise since being drafted by the A’s out of Louisiana State University in 2024, has a chance to become the franchise’s best left-handed starter developed from within since Barry Zito and Mark Mulder anchored the team’s rotation in the early 200os.
Here’s the A’s lineup for this matchup:

The 2026 Orioles have played plenty of dumb, bad baseball. But the 10th inning of this 7-6 loss to the Angels on Wednesday afternoon in Anaheim may take the **** le for the absolute worst moment of the entire season. It also completely changed the tone of the now-concluded west coast road trip, which saw the Orioles lose five of nine and go home on a supremely sour note.
Let’s get right into that 10th inning because that ended up being the whole ballgame.
The two teams were knotted at five runs apiece after regulation. The Orioles began the 10th with Blaze Alexander as the Manfred runner at second base. Taylor Ward opened the frame with a single to put runners on a corners. A Gunnar Henderson swinging bunt sent Alexander towards home, but he would be tagged out, a call which was upheld after review. After Leody Taveras flew out for the second out of the inning it seemed like the Birds might not score at all. But Pete Alonso came through with a clutch single to score the one crucial run and give the bullpen a lead to work with in the bottom of the inning.
Keegan Akin was called on for the 10th in a game that saw the Orioles empty their bullpen. The only reliever that did not pitch in this loss was Albert Suárez. And while Akin would carry some blame for the loss, it wasn’t his pitching that was at fault.
Akin struck out Zach Neto to open the frame, and then got a fly out of Vaughn Grissom for the second out. Things were going well! All that stood between the Orioles and a winning road trip was Nolan Schanuel.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jose Siri moved to the paternity list ahead of Wednesday’s series finale against the Baltimore Orioles.
In a corresponding move, they recalled outfielder Josh Lowe from Triple-A Salt Lake.
#Angels transactions:

•Placed OF Jose Siri on paternity list
— Angels PR (LAAngelsPR) June 24, 2026
Siri signed a minor league deal with the Angels ahead of the 2026 season, and made his way to MLB towards the middle of May. Since his arrival, Siri has established his spot in the Angels’ lineup with a solid string of performances on both offense and defense.

The Angels are 32-47 as of June 21. Even though they are still 15 games under .500, there are some bright spots to note. Those bright spots? Wade Meckler and Jose Siri.
Wade Meckler, 26, was drafted in the 8th round of the 2022 draft by the San Francisco Giants. In Jan 2026, the Angels selected Meckler off waivers and selected his contract in May.
Since joining the Halos, Meckler has batted .288 in 89 plate appearances. He has 23 hits and has driven in 13 runs while stealing two bases. Beyond his offensive capabilities, he has been a star in the outfield. Mainly playing left field, the 26-year-old has made many exceptional plays to keep games close.
Another exciting part of Meckler's story is the fact that he grew up an Angels fan. Meckler grew up attending Angels games and went to high school that was "probably 15, 20 minutes away from Angel Stadium."
The Angels have a history of signing Anaheim natives such as Jose Rojas and Michael Lorenzen. When these types of guys enter the Halos locker room, things certainly change. They bring a fire that is usually needed to kick-start good things.

Kodai Sengadelivered another dud,Juan Soto left the game early because of back tightness and the Mets lost again, falling to the Cubs, 9-6, in front of 35,668 fans Tuesday night at Citi Field.
The Mets, who have lost three straight and allowed 30 runs over that span, are now 10 games below the .500 mark at 34-44. The Cubs are 41-37.
-The Mets' rotation woes continued as the Cubs scored five times in the second inning against Senga. The night had started very well for the beleaguered Mets' righty – he blazed through the first inning, retiring the side in order with two strikeouts and hitting as high as 98.9 miles per hour on the radar gun. It quickly unraveled, however. Senga walked the first hitter in the second inning, Seiya Suzuki, gave up a single toIan Happ and hit Matt Shaw with a pitch, loading the bases. One out later, Carson Kelly worked a walk in an eight-pitch at-bat, forcing in a run. After Dansby Swanson cracked a sac fly, Crow-Armstrong mashed his three-run homer for a 5-0 Cubs lead. Senga heard plenty of boos as he trudged off the mound when the inning was finally over.
-Walks have helped sap Senga's effectiveness all season – he entered the game having walked 6.4 per nine innings this season. Peep this to get an idea of how bad that is: José Soriano of the Angels has the worst walk rate among qualified pitchers (4.5), but it's nearly two walks fewer than Senga. Senga was not a good matchup for the Cubs, whose hitters owned MLB's highest walk rate entering the game, and he finished his brief outing with five walks and a hit batter.
-Senga threw 31 pitches in the second inning alone, which meant he was never going to pitch too deep into the game. He didn't, getting just 11 outs and leaving to more boos with two out and one on in the fourth inning and the Mets trailing, 7-2. In all, Senga allowed three hits and seven runs, including a two-run homer by Swanson, in 3.2 innings. He struck out six and threw 98 pitches (58 strikes). His season ERA ballooned to 10.08. In the two starts since he returned to the Met rotation, he's allowed 11 runs in 7.2 innings, a 12.91 ERA.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — After putting 27 runs on the board over their three-game series against the Athletics over the weekend, the offense dried up on Monday night for the Angels.
The Angels’ bats were blanked until Jorge Soler's home run to lead off the ninth inning in their 6-1 loss against the Orioles.
"Just off the barrel stuff," Angels manager Kurt Suzuki said of the offense. "I thought they were taking good swings early in the count and just missing them."
Nolan Schanuel and Jo Adell hit consecutive singles to put runners on first and second with one out in the first inning, but the Angels were unable to convert and couldn't get anything going until Soler's homer.
The Angels’ lineup drew only one walk, struck out 10 times and only scratched seven hits on the evening. They only had two baserunners reach scoring position in the whole game.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Kyle Bradish pitched eight shutout innings, Taylor Ward hit a leadoff home run against his former team and the Baltimore Orioles extended their winning streak to three games Monday night with a 6-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.
Coby Mayo hit a three-run homer and Bradish (5-7) struck out nine as the Orioles improved to 4-3 on a nine-game trip.
Bradish allowed six hits and one walk. He has 21 strikeouts over his last two starts.
Baltimore was already without second baseman Jackson Holliday (groin) when third baseman Blaze Alexander (knee) exited in the third — leaving outfielder Leody Taveras to play third for the first time in seven seasons. Taveras finished with two hits.
Jorge Soler homered late for the Angels in his return from the injured list, but Sam Aldegheri (2-3) gave up five runs and five hits over 4 2/3 innings. Los Angeles had scored 27 runs over its previous three games.

After suffering a devastating loss against the Athletics on Friday, momentum seemed to have hit rock bottom for the Los Angeles Angels. But instead, they flipped that script and have played winning baseball heading into a new series Monday.
Now winners of their last two games, the Angels will take on the Baltimore Orioles in a three-game set at home, looking for more of the same success.
Below, you can find the team previews, including where to watch, game details, injury reports, and odds.
TEAM PREVIEWS:
Angels (32-47, 5th in AL West): Friday's loss was undoubtedly a big blow. The Angels had led by seven runs and their offense was scorching the ball before the blown lead, having hit five home runs as a team. But even with all momentum loss, they salvaged a four-game series from that point on.

The Rays eked out a win over the Nationals with good pitching and defense and just enough offense to win their first series since they took two of three from the Angels a few weeks ago.
Nick Martinez got the start, and while he probably isn't, over a full season, the Cy Young caliber guy we watched earlier in the season, he is the sort of bulldog fighter who every team needs in their rotation. Uncharacteristically he gave up three walks, and the homerun and two double he surrendered were on pitches over the heart of the plate, suggesting that his concern about command made him reluctant to try to paint corners.
But a guy who can give you six innings with three runs is a pitcher who can keep you in ballgames even when it's not his best day. I've grown quite fond of Nick Martinez.
My usual complaint in the many games where they fail to score runs is that they get very few hits, or their only hits are singles. Today they actually connected for some nice extra base hits, but least early in the game these always seemed to come with two outs, which made it hard to turn those hits into runs. They did score in the bottom of the third on back to back doubles from Taylor Walls and Yandy Diaz, but in other innings they simply left men on base, which is why they found themselves down 3-1 in the middle of the sixth inning.
They were able to come back, however, with some timely homers against the Nationals bullpen.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Pinch-hitter Jonah Heim launched a tying homer with two outs in the ninth and the Athletics allowed 11 straight runs before rallying from seven down to defeat the Los Angeles Angels 12-11 in 10 innings Friday night.
Zack Gelof started the comeback with an RBI single in the sixth, and the A's got two-run homers from Jacob Wilson in the seventh, Max Muncy in the eighth and Heim in the ninth to tie it 11-all.
Nick Kurtz walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th to force home the winning run. It was the largest comeback win for the A's this season.
Gelof extended his hitting streak to 23 games — the longest active run in the majors.
Denzer Guzman, Jose Siri, Zach Neto, Logan O’Hoppe and Nolan Schanuel all went deep for the Angels, matching their season high for homers in a game.

The Dodgers turn to their ace on Saturday night against the Baltimore Orioles, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto coming off two gems in a row.
Yamamoto retired his final 22 batters faced to beat the Angels on June 6 at Dodger Stadium, then retired his first 23 in a row against the White Sox in Chicago, taking a no-hitter into the ninth inning last Saturday. After pitching eight innings against the Angels and 8 1/3 frames against the White Sox, Yamamoto this Saturday will try to be the first Dodgers pitcher with three straight starts of eight or more innings since Hyun-jin Rui from May 1-12, 2019.
Left-hander Trevor Rogers starts for Baltimore.

The A's came away with the first W in the first game of the series last night, riding a fantastic outing from their rookie starting pitcher to their 37th win of the season. They'll have a chance to **** p that number up a digit and get back to the .500 mark tonight. First they'll have to take care of business against their division rival, the Los Angeles Angels.
The team will turn to lefty Jeffrey Springs this evening, hoping the veteran can turn things around. It's been a rough June so far for Springs as he's allowed 15 runs over his past three starts.
Here's how the team will line up tonight:
Why make major changes after yesterday? It's the same batting order as last night, though with one change. Lawrence Butler returns to the starting nine, playing right field. That'll send Carlos Cortes to the DH spot and send Jonah Heim to the bench. Other than that, same lineup as yesterday. Let's hope for the same early result.
Los Angeles will counter with their ace in Jose Soriano. The right-hander, now in his fourth season, has dominated this year and will bring a 2.79 ERA into this contest. He's already successfully faced the A's once this year so they'll be hoping for some revenge tonight.

Cubs and Cardinals could battle off-field in trade for expected All-Star originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Entering the year, there was an expectation that the Chicago Cubs were going to be among the top teams not just in the National League Central, but all of baseball.
The Cubs, however, sit at 39-36, and are even 2.5 games behind the second-place St. Louis Cardinals. The Cubs are 7.5 games out in the Central behind the Brewers and five games out of a Wild Card spot.
Interestingly enough, there's a scenario where both teams could be in the mix for the same players, even if some would be surprised that the Cardinals are buyers.
According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Cubs and Cardinals could both be interested in Jose Soriano, the Los Angeles Angels right-hander who started the year as one of the best pitchers in baseball.

Mike Trout's renaissance season couldn't quite make it to the halfway point before the injury bug struck yet again.
Trout, the three-time MVP and 11-time All-Star, will be placed on the injured list before the club's Friday, June 19 game against the Athletics due to a hamstring injury, The Athletic first reported. So ends a first half of the season in which Trout played in 74 of the Angels' 75 games, hit 17 home runs, produced an .866 OPS and scored an American League-high 54 runs.
It also jeopardizes Trout's chances of earning election to the All-Star Game for the first time since 2023. The game will be played in Philadelphia on July 13, not far from his hometown of Millville, New Jersey.
He was on pace to play in at least 140 games for the first time since 2018, and at least 150 games for the first time since 2016.
The club is reportedly set to recall infielder Christian Moore from Class AAA to Yolo County for the Angels' game in West Sacramento.

Watching UFC Freedom 250 reminded me of what boxing has been getting so wrong of late.
There were so many defining images from the MMA market-leader’s signature show, that it was hard to keep track of them all.
It went beyond the U.S. Navy combining with the Air Force for a spectacular flyover of Blue Angels and Thunderbird jets, to U.S. President Donald Trump getting his own walkout alongside UFC boss Dana White. The pageantry would have meant little if the fights fizzled out, but each of the seven bouts all seemed to over-deliver. And it was all punctuated with American fighter, Justin Gaethje, pulling off the mother of all upsets by breaking Ilia Topuria’s face in two places.
But that’s not what stuck most with me, looking at the event from my boxing lens.
No, it was actually the introduction of the former heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, during a moment that over-promised and under-delivered.

Entering the season, I would guess that Paul Toboni fully anticipated being sellers at the trade deadline. However, year one under this new regime has exceeded all expectations. The Nats are currently 39-36 and tied for the third wild card spot. This could create a conundrum for the Nats new President of Baseball Operations at the August 3rd trade deadline.
Yesterday, Jeff Passan released an article ranking trade candidates and also listed some potential suitors. There were 100 names on the list, but he only gave a suitor list for the first 25. The Nats were listed as a potential fit for Joe Ryan, Reid Detmers, Jose Soriano, Luis Arraez and Matt Chapman. With that news out there, this could turn out to be a very entertaining deadline.
The last time the Nats were buyers was all the way back in 2019, when Mike Rizzo patched up a leaky bullpen. Since then, the Nats have still been very active at trade deadlines, but they have been selling pieces off instead of buying.
We still have a long way to go before August 3rd, but the fact the Nats are listed as potential buyers is exciting. Unsurprisingly, almost all of the names listed as fits for the Nats have team control beyond 2026. The only rental listed is Luis Arraez, who seems like an unlikely target to me.
In my opinion, the cleanest fits for the Nats are either of the two Angels pitchers. Reid Detmers and Jose Soriano would both slide into the top of the Nats rotation alongside Cade Cavalli. Both have premium stuff and are under control for two years after this one. If the Nats want to maximize CJ Abrams, who is on the same timeline, these would be fun fits.

Toronto Blue Jays trade 7-year MLB catcher to Angels originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels completed a trade in MLB on Wednesday afternoon.
The Angels' official X account broke the news that they have acquired catcher Tyler Heineman from the Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations.
AngelsPR wrote (on 6/17): "Since the start of 2025, Tyler Heineman ranks tied for third among all MLB catchers with 16 Defensive Runs Saved This season, he has thrown out 12 of 33 would-be basestealers. The 36.4% caught stealing rate leads A.L. catchers (min. 15 SBA)."
The news is still making its way across the MLB landscape, so expect a lot of reactions from both sides. For the Blue Jays, it has been rumored that they were willing to part ways with Tyler Heineman, and the rumor has come to fruition.

Last week, Texas A&M coach Michael Earley made the first significant staff change of his career at the helm, firing second-year pitching coach Jason Kelley, leading to the pursuit and hiring of MLB pitching coach/coordinator Barry Enright, who has spent the last six seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Angels, and, most recently, the Athletics.
While Enright's lack of college coaching experience, especially recruiting, looked like a major red flag, the Aggies quickly added two of the top arms in the transfer portal, as former UNLV right‑hander Jase Evangelista and Wichita State transfer RHP Johnny Nuanez are headed to College Station, while the Aggies are predicted to land Texas State transfer Wade Cooper this week.
Enright's background as a developer was the primary reason Earley hired him over several current college coaches, feeling that his pro-level perspective and ability to connect with up-and-coming pitchers who need to tweak small parts of their game to reach their potential. If A&M lands Cooper, it's clear that Enright won't have issues landing transfer players.
This week, former MLB manager Bo Porter, who served as the Angels' first base coach during Bo Enright's time with the organization, praised Earley's decision to bring his former coaching partner on board, feeling that the Aggies may have just hired one of the "best pitching coaches in the country" during his interview with TexAgs.
"I commend Texas A&M for the hire," Porter stated to TexAgs. "When you look at Barry Enright's career, from the player to coach transitioning from the professional ranks to Texas A&M. I believe Texas A&M just hired one of the best pitching coaches in the country."

This year’s trade deadline will be full of known commodities. From the likes of Tarik Skubal and Aroldis Chapman to Joe Ryan and Freddy Peralta, there will be no shortage of big names swirling in the rumors over the next six weeks.
But sometimes, it’s the under-the-radar moves or even the off-the-radar trades that end up being the most impactful splashes in the push for the playoffs.
With that in mind, here are five under-the-radar trade targets who could make a big difference for a contender at this year’s trade deadline.
Ever since Detmers was the 10th pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, there has been belief that the left-hander has the stuff to be a frontline starter. And over his first few years in the big leagues, there were flashes, including when Detmers tossed a no-hitter during his rookie year in 2022. Since then, however, the lack of consistency in his production led first to him being demoted in 2024 and then to a full-time move to the bullpen last year.
But this season, Detmers has begun to reemerge and show the electric stuff that made him a top-10 pick. The Angels’ southpaw is 2-5 with a 4.00 ERA and 2.87 FIP in 14 starts. And while he has pitched to a 3.86 ERA over his past seven outings, what really makes Detmers stand out is his big-time stuff. He’s currently sixth in MLB in strikeouts this season, and he showed how electric he can be in his start on May 24, when he allowed one hit and struck out a career-high 14 batters across eight innings against the Rangers.

CINCINNATI — Outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had two hits in four at-bats in the Arizona Complex League on Saturday, June 13, and appears to be nearing a return from the injured list — perhaps as soon as the series opener against the Los Angeles Angels at Chase Field.
“Sooner than later – he’ll be back sooner than later,” manager Torey Lovullo said. “I know he played in those (complex league) games and feels good. What the timing is with that I don’t know exactly yet.”
Gurriel had the two hits, both singles, but has gone just 4 for 16 (.250) with one double, one walk and six strikeouts in five games on his rehab ***** ignment.
He's not exactly a hot hitter — and he would be joining a lineup filled with players struggling to get going at the plate. Lovullo was asked if Gurriel’s subpar results make bringing him off the injured list at this time harder. The Diamondbacks have scored 40 runs in their past 15 games.
“I want to be careful, but we’re sputtering a little bit and we need somebody with a presence to step into this lineup and give us a little impact,” Lovullo said. “If they say he’s ready, we’ll get him here. I don’t know what that answer is yet right now.”

Finally getting healthier, the Houston Astros have won 3 of 4 and 11 of 17.
Jeremy Pena is hitting .307 since returning from injury May 18, with 3 doubles, 3 HR, 12 RBI and 4 SB.
Josh Hader has struck out 7 of the 10 batters he has faced in his 3 innings since returning from the IL, and has not allowed a hit or a run.
Jose Altuve has also returned from injury, much sooner than anticipated. He scored the game winning run on Monday night tagging up on a pop-up caught by the Angels second baseman in shallow centerfield. His sprint speed was clocked at over 29 ft/sec, incredibly fast for anyone, let alone a player of Altuve’s age.
Monday night, Bryan Abreu may have finally found his fastball. He threw three straight heaters to Jo Adell at 97 MPH for a 3 pitch strikeout.

Both the Pittsburgh Pirates (34-32) and Los Angeles Dodgers (42-24) had a day off before the two set sail for a three-game series at PNC Park. The headliner in the series opener, Paul Skenes' arm versus Shohei Ohtani's bat, naturally.
The Dodgers are coming off a 13-5 loss to the Angels in their previous game, but won the series 2-1. Los Angeles traveled across the country on their off day for their second trip to the Eastern Time Zone this season. Los Angeles went 5-1 with a sweep over Washington and two out of three against Toronto. Over the last seven days, Ohtani is hitting .480 and in the past 30 days, he's still batting an absurd .374.
Pittsburgh has lost four straight starts with Skenes on the mound and they are 5-7 in his 12 starts. Skenes has a 4.18 ERA over his last five starts and an opponent batting average of .252. the Pirates enter this matchup with three straight losses all coming to the Braves. That series marked the third time being swept this season for the Buccos. The Pirates have won three straight versus the Dodgers and took four out of six last season.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — It was yet another game where the Angels let it slip away in the late innings on Monday night.
Holding onto a 4-3 lead in the ninth inning, right-hander Kirby Yates blew the save, and a pair of close plays at the plate in extra innings didn’t go the Angels’ way in their 5-4 loss against the Astros.
“We didn't get it done tonight,” Angels manager Kurt Suzuki said. “Plain and simple.”
Yates, still searching for his 100th career save, walked Jeremy Peña to leadoff the ninth inning, who then stole second base to set up Christian Walker’s two-strike single to score the tying run.
“I can't walk the leadoff guy there, and I did,” Yates said. “There's two pitches I want back, and it's the 3-2 (pitch to Peña), and it's the pitch to Walker.”

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Jose Altuve scored the go-ahead run in the 10th inning on a popout to shallow center field, and Houston Astros left fielder Brice Matthews threw out Mike Trout at home plate in the bottom half to preserve a 5-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night.
Christian Walker hit an RBI single for Houston off Kirby Yates with one out in the ninth, tying it 4-all. Walker also had an RBI double in the third.
Altuve began the 10th as the automatic runner at second base and moved to third on Matthews' bunt single. Sam Aldegheri (1-1) struck out Cam Smith and got Jake Meyers to pop out to a backpedaling Nick Madrigal behind second. Altuve tagged up and took off, sliding in safely at the plate when catcher Logan O'Hoppe couldn't come up with an in-between hop on Madrigal's throw home.
O’Hoppe was charged with an error on the play, and Meyers was not credited with an RBI.
Trout started the bottom of the 10th as the automatic runner on second, but was erased trying to score on a leadoff single by Jose Siri. Bryan Abreu then struck out Jo Adell and retired Denzer Guzman on a liner to left for his fourth save.

The Astros Road trip began with a little extra flavor for all, going 10 innings from Anaheim and in the process, producing one of the bigger comebacks of the year. From Jose Altuve’s daring baserunning to Brice Matthews one hop rocket throw to home plate, negating a slide by Mike Trout, it was late night heroics all around. Houston would tie it in the 9th and ultimately win it in the 10th. Astros 5. Angels 4.
Spencer Arrighetti entered Monday Night having never defeated the Angels during his career and although he didn’t get the win, the Astros picked up their 31st victory. The win ultimately went to Josh Hader in relief. Arrighetti cruised with a six-pitch opening frame, but then the wheels began to fall off in the second inning thanks to a series of miscues, rekindling flashbacks of Arrighetti’s hard luck fourth inning last week versus Pittsburgh.
Jo Adell would lead off things in the second inning, reaching first base after being hit by an errant pitch. He scored the game’s first run courtesy of ex-Astro Trey Mancini, who registered an RBI single in his first big league game in three years. In total, nine different batters would come to the plate with a combination of walks and hits, even Logan O’Hoppe getting in on the action with a double that drove in a pair. Final damage was thirty-six pitches thrown and three runs on the board. It’s now six times over his last ten starts that Arrighetti has walked at least four batters.
Houston would get on the board in the top of the fourth after Yordan Alvarez reached on an error by Mike Trout and scored thanks to Christian Walker’s RBI Double. Doubles would be the theme of the night for Houston, as their first six hits would all be two baggers. Lamont Wade Jr., in just his fourth game with the club, would register an RBI double, scoring Isaac Paredes in the 6th inning. Wade would exit moments later with tightness to his right hamstring. Brice Matthews would come in as a pinch runner and score when Cam Smith doubled him home, tying things at three.
De Los Santos would come on in relief and give up a solo shot to Zach Neto in the 7th. For Neto, it would be his 13th home run of the year. However, Christian Walker would secure the Astros first single of the night, in a clutch moment in the top of the 9th, with a hit to center, scoring Jeremy Pena, tying things at 4-4. In the 10th inning, on a fielding error by Logan O’Hoppe, Jose Altuve would score the winning run. Bryan Abreu would come in and close the door earning his 4th save.

The 2020s have marked a golden era of Dodgers baseball with a chance to three-peat this season, record-breaking attendance and sponsorships, and a roster that has continued to get better after every World Series ***** le won.

But LA has learned a lot about their organization in that time, and becoming the model franchise in baseball didn’t start with signing Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto in 2023. This has been a process that dates back for more than a decade, and the Dodgers have identified personnel across their operation that have contributed so much behind the scenes in order to become the dynasty they are today.

One of those people is Dodgers Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Travis Smith.
If you don’t know Smith by name, odds are you’ve seen him in the Dodgers dugout after a big home run or on social media displaying a level of energy that shows what makes the sport so special. After Roki Sasaki’s Friday start vs the Angels, he immediately found Smith and spent some time going over what worked in his 10-strikeout performance.

The next day, I sat with Smith in that same dugout to learn a couple of things: What did his journey look like that landed him with the Dodgers? What has he seen from Roki Sasaki that has led to this recent success? And so much more.
Smith is a few months into his 14th season on the Dodgers staff. He has experience working on multiple teams at all levels, starting off in Double-A, then Triple-A, then getting promotions to be both Major League ***** istant and Minor League coordinator and. Now, he’s been operating as LA’s head strength and conditioning coach.

“Being a young, Black male from the city of Chicago,” Smith explained, “being able to be here on a center stage like this is important for me and for other people to be able to see that you’re able to make it.”
Coming from a heavy football background, Smith understands the discipline and competitive nature that different athletes carry. He played college football for four years at Taylor University and acknowledged it allows him to resonate with the grind that comes with a full season for all the players.

He also had to make some big adjustments once he pivoted from a football player to a baseball trainer.
“I didn’t really play baseball growing up,” Travis said. “Being able to turn on the switch, really just understanding how to train the body and the physiology allowed me to be in the room and once I got here, the players were very open to teaching me the game.

“Understand what these guys go through on a daily basis. Injuries, how to come back from that and put you in a sense of being understanding of this person.”

When the opportunity to work for the Dodgers came across Smith, he had to put other career opportunities on hold.

After working in multiple internship programs at the Minor League level, he landed his first full-time position with LA’s Double-A affiliate after working with the Miami Marlins Triple-A team the year befor

Myles Garrett is officially an LA man with the brand new Rams defensive end recently being invited to throw the ceremonial first pitch for the Dodgers vs. Angels game. Garrett showed incredible athleticism as usual, but the crowd went wild when he had his girlfriend on the field with him, posing as they side-hugged adorably.
Chloe Kim is clearly too happy with her man being signed by the Rams, especially since it means that he is a lot closer to her now. The snowboarder looked a little too pleased to be present at the game with her man, something which spectators were quick to take notice of.
Myles Garrett’s trade to the Rams does not exactly come as a shocker, since the defensive end has been complaining about wanting out of Cleveland for quite some time. Garrett does not exactly harbor any negativity toward Cleveland, but the talented player obviously wants to take his talents to a solid contender.
As of now, the LA franchise is obviously way stronger than Cleveland, and Garrett will be quite excited to show off his skill sets with Matthew Stafford & co. Stafford has been phenomenal with his squad, but his back injury woes slowed him down quite a bit in the previous campaign. Hopefully, the signal-caller is healed fully well enough to make a run for the trophy in this upcoming football year.
Myles Garrett clearly left Cleveland with a heavy heart after the trade. The defensive end was undoubtedly quite happy about the trade with LA, which brought Jared Verse to the Browns roster. Still, the player spent almost an entire decade with the franchise which means plenty of memories of struggles and hardships.
